Flash publish to QuickTime

Hello, I am new to Flash. I finally finished a small
animation, and want to turn it into a QuickTime mov file so I can
show to my friends. I followed the book and published it to mov
file, and email to my friends. They can only see the time bar
moving, but they cannot see the movie (no screen to show the
animation). What did I do wrong? How can I fix it?

Ok if the uninstall/reinstall did not fix this, I would try this in a test user account on the computer to see if it is a user specific issue (I suspect that it is.) If it is a user specific issue I would drag the quicktime preference file to the desktop and restart the computer, then try it again.
Open finder, click on your home folder, click on Library, click on preferences, drag these to the desktop:
com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist
restart the computer, and these will be recreated anew in the library

Publishing to quicktime 7.5 from Flash 8

Hello,
I'm trying to publish or export my flash fla file to
quicktime. I followed the instructions to reduce the flash player,
only to run into the same error. I'm working with Flash 8 and
Quicktime 7.5 and unfortunately do not have the funds to upgrade or
purchase.

i friend sent me this file saying that it contained the quicktime 7.5 pro. inside of it was a .dmg file and a textfile with the serial. i installed the .dmg file and it said i had to restart afterwards. then i rebooted, and it was working out just fine. putting in the serial and stuff. then i tried yo open itunes on the dock and it didn't let me. reboot, then the blue screen. can you help me QuickTime Kirk?

Flash MX, Publish as Quicktime error.

Some one please help me, I wanna cry so much!
I have Flash MX and Quicktime 7. All I want to do is publish my movie as quicktime. But when I do I get the error message, "The installed version of QuickTime does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia Flash movie". So... after a little digging I found out its a issue with flash 6, and changed the flash version to 5! But It still wont work! What on earth am i doing wrong?

Although ive just tried it, and I keep getting the error:
"Scene=Sc1, Layer=Script, Frame=207: Line 1: You must export your movie as Flash 5 to use this action.

Im guessing my actionscript isnt valid for flash 4. Any thoughts on what the correct script would be?

FLASH 8 publishing a QUICKTIME movie

Hello
I am trying to publish a FLASH 8 file as a QUicktime movie.
WHen I go to publish as a QUICKTIME it says to select VERSION
5 of FLASH. But when I click OK to publish, I get a message tha
tfeatures in the flash file are not supported by VERSION 5 of
FLASH.
What can I do?

what kind of quicktime do you need? there are 2:
1. a flash track in quicktime
2. a true quicktime MOV file (fixed rate, pre-rendered video)

Publish to Quicktime problems

I have Flash MX 2004 (7.2) and QuickTime Pro (7.1.3).
When I try to publish a Flash project to QuickTime I get this
'An error occurred because a required QuickTime component
could not be
found'

Hah, I posted about that a while ago. QT Pro 7 is no longer
oriented to the vector setup in Flash, as I understand it. It is
image-oriented, and there are no images if you used script at all.
I was able to save a simpler Flash as a GIF, which QT then
converted to a MOV, but not the SWFs I really really want to
convert to a MOV.
The later versions of QT disable the Flash track by default.
Makes me wonder if there is a way to enable it, but haven't learned
how, or if this is even possible.
The answer? Must first convert SWF to AVI, which QT will
recognize. The new problem is, the converter software to do that is
only made for PC. So I am considering buying a low end PC laptop,
then the software (cheap enough) to convert to AVI. Then I will
have to get it to my desktop Mac, possibly by FTP email. Haven't
figured that out yet. A workaround is to use a work or friend's PC.
We need to pressure both Apple and Macromedia to find a way
for the two to talk to each other again, as in earlier versions of
Flash and QT.
If you or anyone has another solution, please post.

How do you obtain the full file path specification from Flash
Movie and QuickTime icons? I want the path and the file name that
is contained in these icons. I am using a "dive" to run through the
icons of a file, and when I come upon these two types of icons, I
want to obtain the above information that is contained in them. I
certainly can look in the property dialog box to get this info, but
there are many icons in these files, and I want to generate a list
of info based upon the various types of icons that I am processing.

Actionscript 2 and Flash Publish Settings

I have posted a couple questions as of late and received fantastic support from other members (Thanks K-Glad).
I do have what I'm assuming to be a basic question however I cannot find an answer for it.
I added some login script to a page as listed below.

My Question
When testing this movie, I found that it was not moving to the section of the flash file that is relative to their "authorization level". I.E. I manually had my PHP echo back to flash, advising that REGIONAL ACCESS was used therefore it should be move this user to FRAME 5 of the file.
I found that it was staying stuck on the first frame and not moving beyond the 1st frame which I thought had something to do with the stop(); that is listed at the top of the actionscript.
However, when I changed the FLASH PUBLISH settings from Flash Player 8 to Flash Player 6, it works flawlessly.
I attempted to publish using Flash 7 however it appears FLASH 6 is as high as I can go without loosing it's functionality.
I'm curious WHY and will this limit our users from using the site if they have a lower version of Flash installed on their CPU?
I have attached the project FLA file and the PHP file, being used on the server to manually tell this file that a REGIONAL has signed in or someone with "100" level status.

checklog is a string (even though it looks like a number to you). flash 6 allowed quite a bit more code sloppiness than later versions. so, it's very common for users to find publishing for fp6 works, while publishing for fp's higher breaks their code.

Can a flash website launch quicktime files?

Hi
I am not really familiar with what options are available for
video but would appreciate some advice on what is achievable. Does
the server always need to be enabled in some way to run any type of
flash video, if so can flash launch quicktime files?

If your question is to whether Flash can load QuickTime into
a swf, the
answer is no. Flash can load Flash Video (.flv)
If your question is whether Flash can launch a QuickTime
movie, use
getURL("yourMovie.mov")

Html codes for a flash and a quicktime movie

I'm building a new webpage and I want to put a flash and a quicktime movie in every page......now that the new iWeb has the html snippet option I was wondering if there is anyway of embeding the movies with html code in a way that I just have to replace the movie file instead of putting the movies in every page all over again every time I want to update the site

Help me publish/export CS3 Flash file as Quicktime Video, no controller

I am working on a simple timeline animation and would like to publish/export my flash file as a quicktime file with out the default controller. I can export it no problem with the controller. Also I tried publishing it as a QuickTime with Flash Track (.mov) and I get this error message. "QuickTime does not support Adobe Flash track beyond Flash version 5. You can however, export a QuickTime move with Flash rendered as video by selecting File > Export > Export Movie.
Also, does anyone know if transparencies are ok if publishing as a QuickTime movie?

QuickTime 7.3.1, and higher, no longer support Flash (.swf) in playback. Previous versions did allow .swf format as a muxed "track" if "Published" from Flash applications as version 5, or lower.
To turn off the controller (none) use the Movie Properties / Presentation tab.
QuickTime does allow levels of transparency and also "alpha channels" in most image formats that support them (.png).

Exporting Flash 8 to Quicktime?

I am currently using Flash Pro 8. I publish Quick Time MOV
file. I got a message saying :
"The installed version of Quick Time does not support this
type of Macromedia Flash movie. Quick Time requires Macromedia
Flash version 5 or before. Please select "version Flash Player 5"
in the Flash tab of the Publish Setting dialog."
I select Flash Player 5. But it still give me this message. I
tried changing publishing settings and publishing it and exporting
it with the same message popping up no matter what I do. I'm using
a new iMac with the most up to date version of Quick time I
believe. What am I doing wrong? How do I get this to export or
publish as a Quicktime mov?

Unfortunately, you can't export from a .fla file to a .mov
file anymore using Flash 8 unless you uninstall quicktime and
reinstall an older version on your mac. Another option is to
upgrade your Flash 8 to CS3 Flash 9. I have a PC and had the same
problem, but after upgrading to CS3 Flash 9 it seems the problem
has been fixed. Now, if someone could just tell me how or why I no
longer have the option to export from a .fla file into a .flv file
anymore that would make my day!

gradients, so when I do try to publish the movie it says that flash
player 5 doesn't support the enhanced fill. Is there a way in flash
8 to export a quicktime movie? What do I need to change about the
gradients to get them to export?

there is no way to use new features while exporting to older
version, you need to
compromise on that to make the file flash 5 compatible.
The gradient tho should not be a problem, perhaps there is
something else you use ... ?

Beginner's Flash format to QuickTime format question

I made a flash animation (.swf) using Macromedia Flash MX 2004. I wanted to upload it on www.tubemogul.com but they only accept avi, mpg, wmv, mov and mp4.
When I tried to publish my movie to QuickTIme's format (.mov) a window popped up informing me that "the installed version of QuickTIme does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia flash movie." I downloaded a new version of QuickTime but I got the same message. I then purchased QuickTime Pro and installed its key hoping to be able to perform the conversion but I got the same message again from Macromedia. I am totally frustrated.
Is there some kind soul out there who can tell me how to accomplish what I want? Thanks.

I did forget something very important that I've learned to work around...
If your .swf video doesn't have audio, then exporting directly from QuickTime will work fine.
If your .swf DOES have audio, then exporting from QuickTime is a little more of a pain as .swf files are treated like .mpg files... the Flash track is seen as ONE track and only ONE track (the video track) is going to be exported. I usually use additional software (like WireTap) to capture the audio and lay it back over the exported video using QuickTime Pro. This can take awhile since, depending on how the Flash movie is laid out, the start of the audio may not actually be where the video starts. So, you end up moving it forward and backwards a few frames until you match it up right.
So, if you've got audio, then you'll likely need Perian for it to convert the easiest way.

Trouble after updating adobe flash plugin in quicktime/safari

I was visiting a site when a presentation in the site did not work and gave the response to update the adobe flashplayer to the latest version. I did this and now quicktime doesn't recognise any thing any more. ( In sites and mail. My movies on harddisk work normally. All I get in websites and mail is the q logo with a question mark in it. I have rest quicktime to default, did not help, changed the mime settings so that all was selected still it doesn't work. I have a macbook pro 15" with the latest version quicktime pro. all apple software including safari and mail is up to date. what to do??? I am a user not a tecnical genius.
