Flash pushed via GPO, but is now removing itself!

All of a sudden we are having systems that Flash is removing itself and I can't figure out why!  Everything has been working just fine.  We push Flash down through Group Policy and it's been working without problems.  But all of a sudden we are seeing systems where Flash is removing itself for no apparent reason.
Nothing has changed.  No settings have changed.  People that have gotten it successfully via GPO and have had it working just fine are all of a sudden having it removed and left with nothing installed.  Does anyone have any idea as to why it would be doing this?
Here are the log files from one of the system in succession...maybe someone here can make heads or tails of it???
"Application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player is an upgrade of application Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player and will cause the assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin to be removed."
"The removal of the assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player succeeded."
"The assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 ActiveX from policy GPO Install Flash Player succeeded."
"The assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player succeeded."
"Product: Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin -- Error 2753.The File 'FP_PL_MSI_INSTALLER.exe' is not marked for installation."
"The install of application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player failed.  The error was : Fatal error during installation."
"The removal of the assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player succeeded."
"Application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player was configured to upgrade application Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player.  The assignment or  install of the upgrade application Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player failed with error : Fatal error during installation.   The upgrade will be aborted."
"The assignment of application Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin from policy GPO Install Flash Player succeeded."
These entries all happened pretty much at the same time.  Now granted, I'm no GPO guru.  I inherited this system and it was my predecessor that set this all up.  But I've checked all the settings and everything seems fine and like I said, nothing has changed.  As a matter of fact, I just setup a couple of new systems and it got pushed down to them just fine.
Help!!!

Hello again, It sounds like it is working so far, I hope it stays that way. I wonder if the Anti-Virus had an update that day that that happened. It was so sudden, something triggered that action, may not know what. It was strange since that didn't happen when you Installed, if it was going to happen.
Let's hope there are no more problems.
Thanks for posting back.

  • Flash pushed via GPO, how to copy mms.cfg via logon script?

I feel foolish for having to ask such a question, but I can't get it figured out.  I know very little about VBS scripting and need help pushing the mms.cfg file down to the clients via the logon script.  Can someone please provide me the proper commands to enter into our existing vbs scripts?  I sure would appreciate it!

I got it figured out...well, kinda.  I gave up on trying to do it via the logon script and instead modified the GPO for the flash install to call a batch file in the startup script section.
This is the contents of the batch file that I created:
    @echo off
    if exist "C:\WINNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\" goto :NT2k
    if exist "C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\" goto :XPVista
    if exist "C:\Windows\System\Macromed\Flash\" goto :Legacy
    if exist "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\" goto :64bit
    goto :END
    :NT2k
    if exist C:\WINNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg goto :END
    xcopy \\SERVERNAME\NETLOGON\mms.cfg C:\WINNT\System32\Macromed\Flash\ /o /y
    goto :END
    :XPVista
    if exist C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg goto :END
    xcopy \\SERVERNAME\NETLOGON\mms.cfg C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\ /o /y
    goto :END
    :Legacy
    if exist C:\Windows\System\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg goto :END
    xcopy \\SERVERNAME\NETLOGON\mms.cfg C:\Windows\System\Macromed\Flash\ /o /y
    goto :END
    :64bit
    if exist C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mms.cfg goto :END
    xcopy \\SERVERNAME\NETLOGON\mms.cfg C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ /o /y
    goto :END
    :END
I've tested it on both an XP box and Windows 7 64-bit box and it works perfectly! The one thing I am not sure of is what directory the cfg file needs to go in for a 32-bit install of Windows 7.  We don't have any of those here yet, but that's something I'll have to remember once we do.  I hope this helps those out there trying to push the mms.cfg file via GPO to disable that auto-update feature!

  • Difficulties installing flash player via GPO

Hello, I'm attempting to try and deploy flash player via GPO to computers on our domain, and in testing, I am unable to get the MSI's to install after doing a gpupdate and letting the PC restart as it requests.
I've followed the instructions Adobe has listed for deploying to AD via GPO to the letter, I have the shares on a publicly accessible location, the software assigned in the GPO, and the GPO linked to my testing container with the testing PCs. All the PCs are fully patched,  just nothing happens after a reboot. I can publish the MSI's just fine to where I can see them available to install via GPO, but I want to assign them instead. Does anyone have some insights into what could be going wrong?

I'm still not having any luck with this, does anyone have any advice at all?

  • JRE 6 update 11 installs via GPO but fails in Internet Explorer

The problems I am experiencing are a bit different than those I've read about here and elsewhere. I am installing JRE 1.6.0.11 to WinXP clients via group policy. The installation itself appears to work OK but when I go to test Java I am finding that IE 7 reports that Java is not installed. When I check Firefox there is no problem.
In IE I have made sure that Java is activated in Advanced Options, have cleared the cache (repeatedly) and have checked out the Java control panel to make all appears to be correct.
I found that Java downloaded and installed directly onto my test machine does run as expected.
I compared registry entries with a second test machine where Java was downloaded directly, installed and functions as expected. Found a few differences but changing the registry on first test machine to mimic the registry on the second machine did not solve the problem.
I also tried a few suggestions from appdeploy.com.
So far, nothing seems to help. I am guessing that some file is failing to register properly when the installed is pushed by GPO.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Suggestions anyone?
    Thanks
    Cliff

Possibly Java's new "patch-in-place" for the JRE that became effective with updates from 6u10 to later versions is involved. JRE updates by default will update the existing JRE rather than installing an additiona JRE. See [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/otherFeatures/jre_install.html]

  • Deploying flash 8 via GPO

I am trying to get flash installed to my client workstations
via GPO and it is not working. I assigned
install_flash_player_active_x.msi to the computer policy in GPMC
for a test OU and when the the computer reboots I see it attempting
to install Flash 8 for about 3 seconds and then it is done. I then
log in and test to see if it was installed and confirm that it was
    not. What am I missing?

I got it to work. It was something on the computer that I was
testing it on. When I tried it on other computers it worked like a
charm. I did check the event viewer and it showed that it was
installed but it really wasn't installing. Hmm.

  • Deploying Flash Player via GPO - need to have log files generated

I'm looking at deploying the Flash player to 3000 machines across my company via GPO (SCCM is comming in but not for another year).  This would be fairly simple if it was just a standard deployment, but I need to ensure that I have close to total coverage, and the only way I can see of doing this is to use th /log switch in the launch parameters.  I wish to deploy this via a GPO deployed software and not a script for future upgradability options and as such I'd like to know if anyone knows what parameters I'd need to change on ORCA/similar to make this work?
    Thanks in  advance

Hopefully you can find most of the information you need in http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html

  • Problem with p2 import - 30p via firestore but won't remove frames

    Hi all-
Not sure what happened… I’ve been working this way for months and have never had a problem. Shooting 720/30p on HVX200 to firestore. Import into fcp via p2 import and checked remove frames and ended up with quicktimes that were 30 frames. This time I know we recorded 720 30p, but fcp did not/will not remove frames and I am left with qts that only work without renders in a 59.94 sequence, not the 30 I want. And there are 2 frames for every 1. What went wrong/what to do/how to fix?
    Thanks

Can you check the MXF files with a program other than FC (a logger of some sort)? This will confirm that the MXF files are 30p. If they are 30p try the firestore repair clips function.

  • Unable to automatically install Flash 12 over Flash 11 via GPO Software Installation

We have a GPO software installation to install Flash 12 to a group of Windows 7 64-bit workstations. It works fine on a system that has no previous version of Flash already installed, but when the workstation has Flash 11 installed, the installation fails with an error in the Windows application event viewer saying something referring to installation failed because the previous version of Flash could not be removed.
If we log into the computer and manually uninstall Flash, then the Flash 12 GPO assigned to the computers works at the next reboot.  If we manually install Flash 12, by running the Flash installation file as the user, then 12 installs over 11.
I have seen this kind of issue when someone tries to install and older version of flash over a newer version, but I don't think we should be having these problems installing the latest version of  Flash.
We have to go to each PC and manually remove Flash 11 before we can install Flash 12 and it is too much time and labor to keep doing this.
What can be done to fix this so that a GPO software installation of the Flash 12 MSI will forcefully replace older versions of Flash without being stopped by this error?

    Hi lord_knikon,
I understand your frustration.  We've had several users report this, however, we've not been able to reproduce.  This happens with the online installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  We've not seen this with the offline installers, posted at the bottom of this help page, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html.  Please try using the offline installer and you should be able to get Flash Player installed on your system.

  • Deploying Flash Player via GPO sometimes results in uninstallation

We started deploying the Flash Player MSI via Group Policy several months ago, but something we've found is that on some computers, instead of getting updated, Flash Player gets uninstalled entirely and we have to manually reinstall it. Does anyone know what causes this and how to correct it?

    Hello,
We'll need a few log files to investigate this further.  Please provide the following log files:
FlashInstall.log file from one or more impacted systems.  If the machine is 64-bit, there will be two files.
    32-bit OS: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    64-bit OS: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash AND C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
msiexec install log fileYou'll need to provide the 'log' argument when running msiexec to create the log file.
Since the files will be large, please share them using the How to share a document instructions.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Adobe Flash Install via GPO, error 1612

    Dear Adobe,
Please could you publish a full list of registry keys that need to be removed in order for my policy to install the newest version of Flash to work.
I've read a lot of the posts on here. They have the same problem and state that they fixed it by removing keys. I have removed all the keys that were in my registry that I thought were nessecary to get it to work. I still get the same error in Event Viewer.
    Thank you.

Thanks once again Adobe for your massive efforts in keeping your customers happy and supported. Your ignorance is no longer surprising.
Hopefully there will be a decent competiing solution soon.

  • Need a Way to Create a Local Group Push via GPO on Windows Server 2003 DC

There is a new requirement to create a new local group on all machines and add all local and built-in administrators. To save time, I would like a GPO to create the new group, along with configuring its members. Any helpful information I found
is for Windows Server 2008 and up.
Does anyone know what I can do with my Windows Server 2003 DC?
    Thanks,
    Jasmin

    > Does anyone know what I can do with my Windows Server 2003 DC?
Since DCs do not have local groups - what OS are your member servers and
clients running? If 2003/XP: Install KB943729
You need _one_ computer running Vista/2008 or higher to edit your GPO.

  • Installing Flash Player via GPO

    Hi there,
We have the flashplayer 10 msi file and created a group
policy using active directory to role out the update to internal
users. Tested on a user machine and although we can see the
flashplayer plug in installed the Adobe still reports that the
machine needs flashplayer 10. Please could you advise how we need
to configure the policy to install the msi file across our network.
    Thanks

Because its takin to much space in my iPod >_<

Transfer all of your content to the computer:
Tunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:

If the item is still there, you may need to restore the device:

Hope that helps . Worst case scenario, you may need to write into iTunes support to see if they can also help!!

  • Installing client via gpo vs client push?

    hello all
When it comes to pushing the sccm 2012 client does anyone have any thoughts on the pros and cons of pushing via gpo? We are exploring this as an option. We used client push in the past but wanted to give group policy a try. Just as a side note the sccm 2012
client is already on all of our clients and servers from a previous failed site deployment. So this would be a new client (same version CM12) and a different site code.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I like to use Jason Sandys excellen startup script is executed as an startup script.. it provides much more control and many more features than using the .adm files which ships with SCCM 2012.
Compared to Client push there are many advantages as well, you don't have to open all the ports on the client, the script provides more features like wmi-check. It is a great resource.

Since the client is already installed on each computer with the old site code how will the install behave considering that piece?

  • Deploy an application shortcut (inside a network) via GPO

    Hi,
I have the deploy printers, .msi applications and Internet shortcuts via GPO, but I'm having trouble with deploying an shortcut to a specific Computer or User. The shortcut contains a path UNC to an .exe file that will launch an application on a server.
I went through Group Policy Management, created a shortcut and edited all of the properties in the General tab to point to the .exe file within the server/folder. I followed a couple different screenshots off of forums and it looks correct, but it doesn't work. I also went the shortcut to a shared folder (that has the .exe file in it) and it still didn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated!
