Flash remoting image loading

Hello, can someone please tell me if this is possible:
I want to use flash remoting (AS2) to enable coldfusion
database connectivity that will dynamically populate my .swf with
images.
If it is possible, can someone please direct me to where I
can learn how to do this.
thanks kindly for any info.

To answer the first question, yes it is possible.
Second, search sephiroth.it's web tutorials on remoting.
Good luck!

    Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
    Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
    Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • IOS 5: Manually load REMOTE images in HTML emails ...?

    I've been clamoring for this feature forever, and Apple finally added it in 3.0.... the ability to NOT download remotely hosted HTML images in emails [mainly to prevent additional spam]..... unfortunately, if you turn off the loading of remote images in your settings, you're unable to load them in manually on a per-email basis.
    SO CLOSE!
    Does anyone know if this is possible now on iOS 5? Would love it to work like their desktop mail app

    Yes that's how you turn it off.  Now that you have it off, and an image arrives whose images you want to view, you can't do it.  You can turn the setting back on, but then all the other emails whose images you don't want to open, will open, leaving you vulnerable.  There should be a button in the mail viewer to load images when viewing an e-mail if this setting is off, just like Mail in OSX.  I think it's an oversight.

  • In mail. What does it mean to to turn off on 'Load remote images?'

    In mail. What does it mean to turn off or on 'Load Remote Images?'

    From Mail's help:
    Show or hide remote images
    Some messages may use HTML to include remote images that, when retrieved from the sender’s servers, reveal information about your Mac. You can protect your privacy by not loading remote images contained in messages you receive. In addition, when you don’t load remote images, messages display more quickly.
    Choose Mail > Preferences, and then click Viewing.
    Select or deselect the “Display remote images in HTML messages” checkbox to show or hide the images.
    If you chose to hide remote images, a banner is displayed across the top of messages that contain remote images, asking whether you want to load them for viewing.
    If Mail detects that a message is junk mail, HTML images aren’t displayed.

  • Load remote images in iPad Mail?

    In Mail Settings I have load remote images off. On my computer I can click a button in Apple Mail to load remote images. Is there any way I can tell the Mail ap on my iPad to load remote images on a single message without having to make the global change in Settings?

    You're welcome. I played around with the mail app for a while and still couldn't find a way to do it so I'm pretty convinced now that it isn't possible.

  • How to check progress of loaded content with Flash Remoting?

    Is there a way to monitor the loading progress (percent progress bar  style) when using Flex/Flash Remoting?
    Thanks!
    Enrique.

    Hi,
    Use 2 FileStream objects in async mode (openAsync). One to
    read and another to write. When you read in async mode, you get
    progress events. When they fire, you can read bytesAvailable
    amounts of data and write that to the output filestream.
    The output filestream can listen for output_progress events
    to ensure that new data can be written to it or not.

  • Allow loading of remote images by default. SOLVED in Thunderbird 31 [was: Is there ANYONE at Mozilla who listens to users' requests?]

    '''bold text'''Numerous users at NUMEROUS Times have all requested Mozilla Fix Thunderbird so it works like A. It used to, B. what OTHER mail programs STILL do, and C. Is a fact of life on our SmartPhones!!!
    We get Live URL Links on our iPhones, AND automatically downloaded CONTENT on our iPhones, but NOT in Thunderbird..... Not even as an option! Mozilla decided they're going to "protect" you. and by golly they will, whether you like it or not.
    Mozilla will not even acknowledge the issue. It must be nice to produce a product an then let not support it, just sit back let everyone out there help each other.

    I never really thought of it as a 'bug' so I did not pursue that avenue.
    I can understand you objecting to allowing remote images by default. But remote images don't load it you don't look at them (I have 500 spam filters), Macs don't have nearly the security holes Windows has, and as I have stated before: some of us know what we're doing. AND....we know we'll have no one to blame but ourselves if something DOES get through and messes up our computers, (the Personal Responsibility concept, so lost in the U.S.) The other half is the sheer volume of email I get from eBay members, each and every one a slightly different address, and each and every one I had to 'enable' to see it! Maybe white listing sites will fix that, but I still would like the choice to make on my own. Many of my former customers still call me when they run into questions like 'Should they shut off global protection' so I do think it's a good idea you put in all sorts of warning if they go to disable it. Oh, and just so you know, my former service company "Cyclone Computer" (Approx 500 customers, most we single Mac freelancers) never sent out commercial emails and taught my users HOW to avoid getting hacked or phished or get their identity stolen. I now work in an IT department of a large Fortune 50 firm, so their is no 'commercial pressure' on my part in asking for this option. Many of my former customers do understand the reason for the default blocking and are happy it's there.
    Once again. Thanks for all the help, At least the hack solves the problem for me. I see if some of my former users what to take the risk and try it themselves.
    Keep up the good work. Despite my whining, it's still the best email program out there.

  • Flash XML Slideshow - Load next image after set amount of time

    I'm creating flash xml slideshow and have managed to get the
    images to load from the XML file. What I want to do now is have a
    timer that loads the next image after x amount of seconds. Any help
    would be great.
    Code sample
    stop();
    // Create XML Object
    slideshow_xml = new XML();
    // Start slideshow once XML file is loaded
    slideshow_xml.onLoad = startSlideShow;
    //Load XML file
    slideshow_xml.load("slideshow.xml");
    //Ignore Whitespace in XML Document
    slideshow_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    //Create Function for Slideshow - Shows first slide and
    initalises variables
    function startSlideShow(success) {
    if (success == true) {
    rootNode = slideshow_xml.firstChild;

    function updateSlide(newSlideNode) {
    imagePath = newSlideNode.attributes.jpgURL;
    slideText = newSlideNode.firstChild.nodeValue;
    loadMovie(imagePath, loadTarget);
    }

    Ok I've managed to get most of this working including the
    alpha fade in. I haven't been able to get the images to fade out
    (fadeImageOut function) so if someone can tell me what I'm doing
    wrong. Also should I have some sort of preloader function for when
    each image loads? and if so any pointers, then it should be done
    except that I might need to add some text for each image in the XML

  • Help w/speed of Flash application - Use load vars, flash remoting or other....

    I'm looking for a little help with a dynamic Flash
    application I am building with ColdFusion integrated. I need the
    Flash to load and interact with a SQL Server database as quickly as
    possible as the user interacts with the Flash application. I have
    done research and thought that Flash Remoting was the way to go
    especially when using ColdFusion with Flash, but I am experiencing
    a lot of lag time when a user tries to load more data.
    So I'm looking for some advice on what is the fastest/best
    way to pass data back and forth between Flash and ColdFusion.
    Currently I am using Flash Remoting via ColdFusion web services
    (first time using this), but again with the lag time I am receiving
    I am thinking maybe my old way of using LoadVars would be faster? I
    am also open to any other means to pass data from ColdFusion/SQL
    database to Flash that exist. I am just looking for the quickest
    way for my customers to interact with the Flash piece.
    Thanks for all your help!

    Also would like to note that internet explorer does not have this problem, I would prefer to figure out why this is happening and resolve it as I hate IE.

  • Stage flashes white just before images load

    Hello Forum members,
    I have a strange problem. I have developed a Flash slideshow that loads 6 images from the web server using an xml loader (the image names are in an
    xml file), then loads these images into an array.  I have an xmlloader to read the xml file, and a Loader that loads the images from the array,
    and then changes the images every 4 secs or so.
    My problem is that when the web page is opened from a client, the space where the flash object is located (in a table)
    flashes white until the images are loaded.  I thought I could fix the problem by making the stage the same color as
    the background on the web page. No dice, I still see a white box (800x320 px) that is the size of the stage, and the size of
    the images.
    When I compile it on my computer, if I look fast I can see a quick flash of white just before the images load!
    The web site is: www.andiamoadventours.com.  I did not develop the page, but put the Flash code in the index.html page.
    There is quite a lot of javascript on this page, maybe developed in Dreamweaver.
    Any ideas on this?  I can attach the action script code if desired, for more clarification.  Let me know on this.
    Basically, the images reside in a folder on the web server, the xml file has the image names, the xml loader reads the xml file,
    and when it is complete, goes to a routine that takes the name of the image from an xml list I create, and then loads an array.
    I load the image into the loader, etc.  This is clearer with the code.  I am using CS4 and a document class, slides.as.
    Thanks,
    eholz1

    Hello dmennenoh
    I replaced the old code with the swf object, and added a background color to the embedded definitions,
    This solved the problem!
    Thanks, I will keep this in my memory
    Thanks,

  • ADF Hierarchy Viewer does not render remote images

    I am using ADF Hierarchy Viewer in my application. I was trying to use a Image component inside one of its nodes. The image works fine if I use the image which is part of my application. If I use a remote image using its URI, it wont render the images. Is there something I am missing
    Thanks,

    By default, the Flash Player does not allow accessing images located on a domain other then the domain it was
    loaded from. You will need to set up a security override file (crossdomain.xml) on your server.
    You can Google to find more information on crossdomain.xml file.
    Here is one example:

  • Widget: Flash Slideshow (Image Viewer) - Modifications Help!

    I created a Flash photo slideshow using Dreamweaver CS3's Insert > Media > Image Viewer. It can be seen here: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/ImageViewer/imageviewer.html.
    All and only relevant files can be found in the following directory: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/Image_Viewer/.
    Then, I added a Web Widget to my iWeb '08 site, using the entire code from image_viewer.html as the HTML Snippet (after changing relative links to absolute). Everything works beautifully.
    However, I have a few questions for you Flash aficionados out there:
    1. Is there a simple way to modify the code such that the images appear at random, instead of in the same order every time? Dreamweaver does not provide this as an option. I can do this easily with PHP, but of course that is not allowed with iWeb, so I'm looking for a quick and non-complex technique to add to/modify the existing code.
    2. The images load quickly for normal bandwidth speeds, though with slower connections you sometimes see the loading dialog for a second or two. Is there any preload or other technique I could use to alleviate this?
    3. Look at this page: http://cba.ua.edu/~ckent/ImageViewer/image_vieweralt.html. The green is a border that exists due to left-over space where titles and captions were supposed to be presented. Everything has been adjusted such that the minimum amount of space is left within the border. The images are 640x360, but the Flash element has to be set at 654x380 to display the full image size.
    Is there anyway to completely collapse the border around the image viewer? I think this is a function of the actual SWF file, so I doubt it is easily possible considering Dreamweaver creates it on the fly.

    Download the template I made and posted on this thread, should get you started,

  • XML scrolling thumbnail, image loader, & Buttons [halfway works]

    Intro:
    I started a flash-based website a few years ago. Back in 2006 I was able to get a xml scrolling thumbnail, image loader to work without a glitch.
    For numerous reasons I had to put the project on hold until now. [one was that my 30 day trial of flash expired and only recently was I able to purchase the Adobe Web Suite CS4 as well as a new computer which could run the apps.]
    Last Friday saw a bump in the road in the development of my site as two, rather straightforward task, turned into something short of a nightmare as I have been unable to get past these two, seemingly, relatively simple task.
    I have posted in 4 other flash forums the issues, in detail, that I am facing - and have quite a bit of interest/views in the topic as the numbers suggest - yet no response/answer as of yet. [Which confirms other messages I have seen which seem to state that working with buttons has become increasingly difficult with the newer version of flash - something Im a bit surprised with actually from Adobe. - I would have thought there would be a palette where you could set parameters...]
    Screenshot of Site/Timeline:
    Before getting into the two questions I have, I would like to post an image of the site as it looks whenever an swf file is saved out, as well as a piece of the timeline in the back for reference.
    Issue #1
    As of now when the swf file is saved out you get exactly what you see above:
    a: A scrolling thumbnail
    b: ...which loads a large image when clicked on it - PEFECT...
    BUT...
    1a: I need for the buttons to load in this action, not for it to just load on its own.
    [i.e., the silk_paintings gallery is what is open, so I need the "silk_paintings" button to call up this action]
    note: Initially I had attacked this problem by taking out the actions layer you see above and applying it directly to the individual buttons with some crude MouseEvent Listener/Handerls... that did not work - at all.
    Im sure it may be "easier" to make an array out of it, but with my coding level it may be "easier" to apply it to the buttons.
    1b: How I currently see it, I would take the xml-list and duplicate it for the number of galleries I have.
    [I would then re-name the xml-list to reflect the name of the galleries they are to represent, i.e. "silk_paintings"]
    [also, I would have to rename the folders to "thumbnails1,2,3, etc., & "images 1,2,3, etc"
    From there I would duplicate the actions and paste it into the buttons, changing the xml-list name to that of "silk_paintings", etc., as well as write in the MouseEvent listener Handler to make it work. [ah, ha, but what is that magic phrase, I have tried to implement various code from other tutorials, and all in vein.]
    Issue #2
    At this point I would be tickled pink just to get this to basic function to work.
    However, once the buttons are working and calling up the xml, etc., then I need the buttons to stay on the semi-transparent blue color it is whenever in the 'hit' state. [note: NOT pictured above.]
    With the way the buttons are currently set up, and with wanting to use scripting to get them to interact with the thumbnail gallery, it will have to be some miraculous code to tell that button what color to stay as whenever its clicked, and of course it going back to white when another button is clicked.
    Conclusion:
    Since this is an Adobe Forum I would like to make a few additional statements in hopes that the developers, etc. may take heed.
    Adobes products are not cheap, and when I went to purchase the websuite I went in as a designer needing a program as not to need to program.
    I understand the flexibility that coding gives, but something as simple as linking buttons should not be in the realms of rocket science. [yes, for many its not...but my brain just does not operate that route despite all the tutorials thrown at me.]
    Again, it would seem that there would be a button panel where you could drag options like scrolling thumbnail slider, loader, and then parameters would come up. [much like Apples iWeb. - but before the argument of one being pro and the other for non-pros, I see it differently. Software should not be the limiting factor in how flexible you can design, or rather ones lack of programming shouldnt be. With all the talented, and I say this in all humility and honesty, programmers working for Adobe, Im sure something could be programmed like what Im asking for.]
    note: Director is a good example, back in 1997 I knew nothing of multimedia and in one week I had assembled a portfolio, clicking buttons, speech, movies, and all. - and no, I dont have the money to buy more software!
    At this moment I am at the mercy of someone who reads code like its a nighttime tale they are telling their kids, and who can see the exact issue I have and can share the appropriate, correct code. [as I have noticed, it has to be on target - naturally - but this target changes with just a slight change in the design.]
    Thank you,
    peace
    Dalen
    p.s.
    The actionscript: [note: This is only the current working/good code that Im trying to get the buttons to call up.]
    stop();
    fscommand("allowscale", false);//keep SWF display at 100%
    var x:XML = new XML ();//Define XML Object
    x.ignoreWhite = true;

    I would have liked to have included the following files but was limited due to "you-send-it" not uploading folders.  Files not included: [but functioning] : xml list - images [folder] - thumbnails [folder]
    Again, Thank you

    The issues with the buttons calling up the scrolling thumbnail panel have been resolved, as well as keeping the buttons in their hit state once clicked, thanks to Rob.
    Those that have been following this thread, or stumble upon it in their searches later, may appreciate to see the final solution to this particular issue.
    [Hopefully I will be able to update this thread with a url in the future to show the site in operation, which may help somebody with their project in the future if its set up similarly.]
    Alas, it would be nice if future versions of flash had a more direct, flexible, user friendly method for creating navigation.
    [We may see development beyond the flash ads which everyone seems to loathe... and more creativity with flash in terms of games, web interactivity, &  animation.
    Below are 2 sets of code:
    a] the first is located within the first frame of the first button, and has some extra variables in it that the additional buttons call upon...
    b] the second is the code applied to every other button.

    // size of the panel when the images are loaded by any given button...
    stroke.onEnterFrame = function() {
         if (this.hitTest(_xmouse, _ymouse, false)) {
              if (panel._x>=740) {
                   panel._x = 740;

                   var xdist = _xmouse-830;
                   panel._x += -xdist/7;
    Of note is the change to how the movie clips are measured... this change in and of itself has really helped to make the thumbnail panels operation more efficient.
    Below is the script for each additional button: [Having issues with the forums not letting me post additional code, so I will put the remaining code in a reply below.]
