  • Re sizing photos? making them smaller?

    my digital camera is 7.1mp, so each photo is aout 3.5mb. is there a way i can simply resize them for when i want to post them to a web page etc. i used to just use paint when i had windows and resize to say 30%. and it would cut the file down to about 200kb.
    i know its easy to do to email the pic, is there a way to do the same but not email it? such as for when i use ebay, i dont need a 7mp image for that, a 400x600 pixel will do to save on upload times.
    thanks

    Yes. Select the pic(s) in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting window you have the opportunity to resize the pic, change the format and rename the file. Complete the export to the desktop and iPhoto will create a copy of the pic incorporating your changes. Upload from there and after you can trash the copy on the desktop your original is safe in iPhoto.

  • Why is iMessage taking my incoming emails and then not making them available for my PC to get?  Why can I not send a text msg with photos when iMessage is turned off (but MMS is still on).

    Apple is great!
    Why is iMessage taking my incoming emails and then not making them available for my PC to get?  Why can I not send a text msg with photos when iMessage is turned off (but MMS is still on).
    I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC.  I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off.  Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage.  I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging.  Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on.  What happened to regular MMS text messaging?  I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program.  I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.
    Why is iMessage taking my incoming emails and then not making them available for my PC to get?
    The email program on my iphone is not configured to remove messages from the server.
    If iMessage is turned off I don't have the issue.
    Why can I not send a text msg with photos when iMessage is turned off (but MMS is still on).

    Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

    My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my computer and load them in my LR. The photos appear but witthout any editing or tagging. We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. This seems hard. We need advice on if it is at all possible to have two computers simultaneously working on LR . I bought her her own version because I was told at the time of purchasing that that was the only way to share. Please advise urgently! Thanks.

    Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
    If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
    Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
    As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

    My HP Photosmart Plus printer is printing my photos in black and white and I cannot seem to get them colored

    And this is related to the iPhone how?

  • I am scanning black/white photos and making a few adjustments - retouching and cropping.  The photos then turn red.  Why?

    I am scanning black/white photos and making a few adjustments - retouching and cropping.  Some (only some) of the photos turn red. Why and what do I do to correct this problem?

    This is because we've scanned the photo's using grey scale.
    Through further searching I found a solution thanks to Terence.  You can convert your already scanned photos to the required sRGB format by doing the following:
    Open Automator.  Select your photo's that need converting from the file and drop into Automator.
    You can create an Automtor workflow to assign an sRGB profile to images.
    The variable you want is 'Apply ColorSync Profile' to images and then select sRGB from the drop down.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I prevent Adobe from taking my jpegs and making them pdf files? I have had to uninstall Adobe to access my photos as jpegs.

    How do I prevent Adobe from taking my jpegs and making them pdf files? I have had to uninstall Adobe to access my photos as jpegs.

    I would suggest you change your file associations so that jpgs open in a program other than Acrobat.  Assuming you have a Windows machine, just go to the Start, and search for "file associations" ... it's part of the Control Panel.
    Scroll down to the file type jpg, and set it to open with whatever graphic preview or editing program you have that you want to use as the default.  From that point on, when you click on a jpg, it should not open Acrobat and instantly try to convert it to a pdf.

    As for AS3 part of it, I am not sure your code really works. There are syntax and logical errors there.
    I think you need to take it step by step and accomplish several task in the following sequences:
    1. Write code that loads XML correctly;
    2. Write code that enables buttons;
    3. Write code that will load images on button clicks.
    The code below shows in principal what needs to be done in order to load XML and make the data in this XML available for further consumption. Also, by accomplishing this step you will iron out all the PHP vs Flash wrinkles including your XML.
    Please note, I don't know your XML structure so all the parsing issues you need to resolve yourself.
    Once you get handle on it - we, hopefully, will talk about steps 2 and 3.
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.events.*;
    import flash.net.*;
    var images:XML;
    var myRequest:URLRequest;
    var myLoader:URLLoader;
    // list of image urls that will come from loaded XML
    var imageList:XMLList;
    myRequest = new URLRequest("Photography.php");
    myLoader = new URLLoader();
    myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onFileLoaded);
    // suggested handler for unexpected errors - avoids some headaches
    myLoader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError);
    myLoader.load(myRequest);
    // Note: all the listeners are removed
    // it is always wise to remove listeners that are needed any longer
    // to make objects eligible for arbage collection
    function onLoadError(e:IOErrorEvent):void
         trace(e.toString());
         myLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onFileLoaded);
         myLoader.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError);
    function onFileLoaded(e:Event):void
         myLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onFileLoaded);
         myLoader.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError);
         images = new XML(myLoader.data);
         // only now xml is ready and you can start loading images
         imageList= images.pic;

  • Is it possible Bridge ruins images while making thumbnails?

    This morning I was reorganizing images.
    I use Bridge to check the files.
    I noticed when Bridge was making CR2 thumbnails several of them appeared stripped of some if not most of the pixels.
    I opened one image in Camera raw and became afraid the image was actually now ruined.
    In Canon Digital Professional, the thumbnail looks fine, but in Digital Pro Preview they also are ruined.
    I went to my external backup to find the same images were ruined!
    The thumbnails looked great as Bridge was regenerating them, but as soon as it was finished the images was stripped.
    It seems logical the images were ruined when I downloaded them from the camera, otherwise they would be different in both files.
    I usually download twice rather than copy one to the backup, but I do not remember now.
    I am sure I have looked at these May 2014 images many times and they were fine!
    Help! I am afraid to use Bridge to help with 6 years of photos!

    I want that will be like described below (as it works in another software for captioning):

  • Can't see or send photos! I just see a white image, and when I send a photo, it just sends white squares

    Since last update, when I open my photos, they change to white. I can see them on the grid, but if I try to open them, they change to white. If I try to send a photo, it just sends white squares.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Flash-Web Photo Gallery

    I am trying to create a flash web photo galler using the Automate>Web Photo Gallery in CS2.
    I want to mix the features of the 2 existing options.
    In Flash Gallery 1, the thumbnails are listed as small icons in multiple lines and are magnified when the mouse hovers over them, like the dock in OS X.
    In Flash Gallery 2, the meta data listed in the xml file is displayed only if you explicitly click on the info button, and it is below the picture.
    I need these 2 options together. The rest of the options are not a problem I can go either way.
    Is there another Flash Gallery that will combine these two options?
    If not:
    Is there a way to modify the flash file to accomodate this?

    Google "Flash Gallery Templates", you'll see 2.4M links.
    Back to levonk's original question... sounds like you're trying to do what I'm trying to... alter the Flash files used to generate the Web Photo Gallery Flash Gallery 2.
    Here's my question, similar to yours:
    How do i open the "gallery.swf" file to alter Photoshop Flash Web Photo Gallery?
    Built Web Photo Gallery in Photoshop CS2's Automate. It turned out OK, and I made adjustments in the "index.html" and "galleryconfig.xml" files in a text editor (BBE).
    Now, I'd like to alter the template's .swf file but can't open it as it's "protected".
    It would be nice to be able to set up a new template that does exactly what I intend, without altering the other files. But I can't open the protected "gallery.swf" file to make changes. Can someone help? Does Adobe have an unprotected copy of that file I can fiddle with? Is there some "trick" to open a copy of that file? I could learn a lot and make it easy to repeat results for a site. Any assistance most appreciated!

  • Flash for Photo Booth not working.  Can it be fixed?

    My flash in Photo Booth stopped working--can it be fixed?  And if so, can a local computer store do it?

    Apple doesn't fix phones, they replace them.  Bring your phone and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.  Damage to the camera by the excessive heat has voided your warranty.

  • When I export my photos and save them as a jpeg.  Am I still losing information?

    When I export my photos and save them as a jpeg.  Am I still losing information?  Would I be better of saving them as a TIFF or a PSD?  Also I know DNG is a digital negative, would that be the better format to save all my stuff?

    I apologize if you already thoroughly know all this (I couldn't be sure):
    When you export, you don't change the original (i.e. you never overwrite the original). So, you can export a million times and never lose quality (of the original), regardless of the export formats you choose.
    Of course the quality of the export depends on the chosen format, and if the format is lossy (e.g. jpeg), then export quality also depends on the size & quality settings.
    TIFF is lossless, so quality is essentially equivalent to the raw in Lightroom. It's the preferred format if a really BIG file is OK. Jpeg was invented to reduce file-size as much as possible without being too much inferior, quality-wise - and it does that very well.
    DNG is good for some stuff, but don't export your photos in DNG format unless you know what you are doing and why... Lot's of people like converting their originals to DNG format, but that's a whole different kettle of fish...
    Note, it may very well make sense to export a jpeg as tiff, since exporting a jpeg as jpeg is not as good. - reminder: when you export, you are not overwriting the original, you are making a new copy from the original, by combining it with develop edits if there have been any.

  • How can I remove the photos without deleting them from the album?

    I am making a book in Aperture 3.  I want to change some of the pages that I have put together, and want to remove some of the photos from some of the pages, to put them on another page.  How can I remove the photos without deleting them from the album?

    As a follow-up, I have found that clicking on the photo in the book also highlights the photo on the strip below.  So, if you then hit delete, you will delete the photo from both the book page and the album (which is the book, the way I have it set up).  If you only want to delete it from the book page, you then have to un-click the photo on the strip below, or both will be deleted.  This seems unwieldy.  I deleted 6 photos from a page and found all of them gone from the album.  The only way that I can see to keep them in the album is to then unselect them from the bottom strip after selecting them fro the page.  This seems to call for an extra step.

  • Some of my photos were suddenly grey-white belted.

    I have an IMac and I was on vacation and took of course a few photos... Something like a thousand. I copied the Photos from my camera to my IMac. And then everything was fine. I started to arrange them in different folders in iphoto but then there I saw the problem. Photos were suddenly grey-white belted. It looks like a dwarf moved into my IMac, cut the pictures in pieces, made some of them a little bit darker and moved them a little bit. It's really annoying. But it wasn't like that at the beginning. And also, when I move something into the recycle bin on iphoto, it's just gone. Also there's nothing in the recycle bin. It isn't deleted from the computer, but it is deleted from iphoto. I hope somebody can help me out here.

    Yeah well, then I guess I have to comfort myself with the fact, that not every picture is damaged ^^ But still thank you for your help.
    I copied it on a memory stick and pasted it into windows.
    I've got only one last question: Do you have any idea, how I can avoid such things? Or how this could have happen?
    You know, I don't want to make it happen a second time, I think you can understand that
    kindly regards
