Flash seems to kill all networking!

Problem: When using flash in any web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome), my networking (Wired ethernet and wireless airport) dies.
Example: I load up grooveshark.com to listen to some music. First song loads fine and starts to play. As soon as I click to skip to the next song, networking dies. It returns as soon as I close the browser.
I can also duplicate this on youtube.com. I load a video, which loads and plays fine. If I try to switch its resolution, networking dies.
Explanation: When networking dies (both ethernet and airport), it does a few strange things. It completely will not send any data, or latency jumps to ~3000ms pinging my gateway, or a combination of the two. If I'm using wireless, when the problem occurs, the wireless disassociates and I loose complete connectivity. Either way, for all intensive purposes, networking is useless when the problem occurs.
I'm working on a brand new 21.5" iMac i3 3.07 GHz w/ 4 GB's RAM. I installed bootcamp and Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. After the install, I inserted the OSX CD that came with the computer and installed all the bootcamp software and drivers. I then updated Windows 7. Everything is up to date.
What is also interesting is I have VMware Fusion installed on the OSX install. If I boot OSX, then Win7 from VMware Fusion, the problem disappears and can NOT be reproduced. This tells me there is a problem between the latest version of flash and a native bootcamp windows device driver.
I have called apple support, and they were useless. They told me they hadn't heard of this problem before, and that I should contact Microsoft. But the thing is, I think its either an Adobe Flash problem or an Apple device driver problem. I'm leaning towards a device driver problem, as it should never let a browser plugin completely knock out communication.
I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if so, how you fixed it?

This tells me there is a problem between the latest version of flash and a native bootcamp windows device driver.
I use Flash 10.2. And while Flash takes a lot of blame, I would focus on your modem/router being up to date model and firmware and get more current drivers. Apple Boot Camp drivers enable devices but they are not always up to date.
Also, those threads are from March, unresolved, and of course you can find almost anyone saying anything.
I have found loading a web site, that it will knock me off, and I attribute it to the web site or host and possible presence of malware or other issues. I can run 10 YouTube videos concurrently. When I upgraded to Vista and Intel Mac Pro 4 yrs ago, I had trouble and replaced some network equipment, then a year ago I upgraded modem to be more compatible with higher bandwidth broadband which helped a lot (Netgear, same as before but old model was no longer being supported or firmware updates available).
Latest Flash:

Can't hurt to flush DNS cache, browsers, temp files and history etc. for which I use CCleaner (3.0).

  • Chat SSDP Discovery flooding network killing all networking

I am having a huge issue with the latest version of iChat. When I start it up it sends out 10,000 to 20,000 SSDP requests to 239.255.255.250. If I shut down iChat it continues for about a minute then stops and everything is back to normal. Tried changing the ports.
We are using NAT on a Windows 2003 server.
This kills the network and no other network traffic happens.
When I run iChat at home it all works fine, without a problem. It is only when I am in the office.
My office setup is DHCP from a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server and all network traffic is routed through this server via NAT.
It has been working fine in the office for about a year and all three macs worked fine. Now all three have the same issue.
A network sniff with WireShark shows that my mac sends a MDNS query to 224.0.0.251 then to 10.x.x.x which is the server. but the one to the server is designated a malformated packet.
My mac then sends a SSDP request to 10.x.x.x
The server replies with an ICMP packet saying the port it not reachable
My mac then sends out another request to the server
Then it sends out a SSDP request to 239.255.255.250 and continues doing so killing the network.

Flash player won't work or download. It says it no longer supports power pcs. I am running 10.5.8 on my ibook G4. Seem to have tried everything. i.e. chrome, firebird, archived flash players, etc. All not supported. Any insight??? It started when I tried to upgrade current flash player and it said I needed to uninstall current version, which I did, and then it wouldn't download the current one giving me the not supported story! Please help!!!!!!

Hi Andy, that is correct, they don't support PPC Macs anymore.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
    Download this if you haven't...
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp10.1.102.6 4_and_9.0.289.0archive.zip
Once downloaded if it doesn't unzip automatically the double click on that file.
Look for the fp10.1.102.64_and_9.0.289.0archive folder, open it, look for the Flash Player 10.1.102.64 folder & open and look for 101r10264 folder & open it, double click on the flashplayer101r102_64_ubmac.dmg file, choose the Install Adobe Flash Player file to install... they don't make it easy!

I cannot seem to get all of my music shared across the network from my MacBook Pro to my iPad. This was not an issue a few days ago. I can see all my songs if sorted that way, but if i sort by artist, only a few of them are present. Can anyone help or have any insight?

Well I didn't think of it before, but I logged out of my apple ID othe iPad's home sharing. The I logged back in and it worked. It's a little weird, but I will take it. Thanks!

  • Itunes 6.0.1.3 is killing my network!

The last time I updated all my podcasts was 12-8-5. I had not run Itunes since then. I fired it up this past weekend and something really strange happened.
It was unable to update any podcasts. Also, my laptop had disconnected from my wireless network. I closed Itunes but my system still was unable to see any wireless network. I rebooted and was able to connect again. I then left the wireless properties open and started Itunes. My wireless connection began to drop in speed over the course of 1 minute from 54 -> 36 -> 24 -> 11 -> 1 -> 0 Mbps when it again disconnected and would not see wireless. I rebooted and started all over again. This time I closed Itunes before it killed the connection and within 1 minute my speed is back up to 54 Mbps.
This is also happening on my hardwired Desktop! As soon as I fire up Itunes, the lights on my switch and router and every AP start flashing like crazy! I am talking about three switches and a wireless bridge. The activity lights on all devices go crazy until I kill Itunes on my desktop. As soon as I do, the activity stops, but I am forced to reboot all my network devices to get the network up again.
No, I am not the only person in the world seeing this behavior. I just listened to Leo Laporte's KFI Tech Guy podcast from the first week of December and a caller was describing the exact same issue:
    http://leoville.tv/radio/ShowNotes/Show201#toc3
I have also found another reference to the same thing here:
    http://forums.macnn.com/archive/index.php/t-246946.html
    And another here:
    http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.networkweb/browsethread/thread/12be291b47a65868/04144bc0accb23f8#04144bc0accb23f8
Basically, running Itunes kills my network!
I have turned off all automatic network functions in Itunes, like automatic podcast updates and search for shared music. Turning off search for shared music seems to have solved the need to reboot every network device in my house, but running Itunes still causes the death of my wireless connection on my notebook.
I can only postulate that this MUST be the result of a recent XP update since Itunes was working just fine a few weeks ago. To test this theory, I will be doing a parallel OS install of XP SP2 on my laptop with no additional updates and Itunes the only installed application. I might try doing this in Virtual PC first, but I am not sure I could trust its results.

    OK,
I just installed Itunes 6.0.1.3 on a fresh install of XP SP2 in Virtual PC.
Simply starting Itunes, No subscriptionsn no podcasts to update, and the same results.
Within 1 minute, the network connection on the VPC was dead and reported limited or no connectivity. Before it died, the wireless on my laptop began to decrease in speed. As soon as the network connection in VPC died, it began rising again. As with my desktop, my network devices activity lights lit up almost solid! The ethernet bridge that connects my ReplayTV to the network went solid on activity and my Replay was knocked off the network. It would appear the 6.0.1.3 is spewing a bunch of garbage on the network to the point that it is killing all my devices.
Whenever Itunes is open on any system on the network (In its default config), ALL devices lose network connectivity.
Now I will try an older version on the virtual PC and see what happens..

  • CoreSync.exe blocks all network traffic while (slowly) syncing my Creative Cloud files

    Hello folks,
Since the latest Creative Cloud update (I'm using version 1.9.0.465 as of this writing), I've been unable to successfully sync my Creative Cloud Files folder.
First things first, as other forum users have posted elsewhere, when the update installed itself, my Creative Cloud Files folder was moved from my chosen location to its default location (C:\Users\MyUserName) and I've been unable to put it back where I wanted it.
However, more pressingly, I noticed that every time I booted my computer, neither my wife nor I were able to access the Internet.  After a couple days' trial and error I realized that Creative Cloud was trying (unsuccessfully) to sync about seven files (totaling about 750MB) to the cloud, and anytime the sync was actively working, my network access was completely blocked.  Even the Creative Cloud desktop app itself couldn't access the Internet to authenticate my apps or Typekit fonts.
I have managed to get much smaller files (1MB, 5MB, up to 15MB) to sync successfully, however this takes a really long time, and no one on my network can manage to load a web page on their device until the sync is complete.
Right now I've got syncing paused, and everything on my network is working fine.
For some additional info, I've attached a screen grab of my Networking tab from Task Manager:
The big spikes in that graph are me and my wife loading up tons of web content-- YouTube videos, a million tabs of who-knows-what, all acting normally.  Then I hit Resume on CC's sync operation, my activity line clamps way down, and no one can load any Internet content anywhere.  After that, I released my computer's IP address from the command prompt, at which point Creative Cloud Desktop returned a connection failure, and I quit the app.  When I renewed my IP address, I noticed our network access was still blocked, even though Creative Cloud was not running.  I traced the problem back to CoreSync.exe, which had continued running even after I'd quit Creative Cloud.  The moment I ended the CoreSync.exe process, everything was back to normal... until I restarted the Creative Cloud app, which in turn restarted CoreSync.exe.  It was only after pausing CC's sync operation that we were able to use the Internet again.
So!  To sum up, here are my two issues:
Syncing is entirely broken, and prevents everyone on my network from using the Internet while CC spins its wheels.
For some reason, following the same update, I'm unable to change the location of my Creative Cloud Files folder.
    Some things I've tried:
Uninstalling & reinstalling the Creative Cloud Desktop app-- no change
Clearing my archived files on creative.adobe.com in case there was some weird argument happening between my live/syncing files and my archived files-- no change
Manually adding CoreSync.exe to my Windows Firewall whitelist-- no change
Finally, I can recreate this issue on my second computer, running the same version of Creative Cloud but running off wireless instead of Ethernet.  Same symptoms-- feed it a file to sync, and everyone's Internet access is gone until the sync operation [eventually] finishes.
I'm completely stumped and very frustrated.  I rely heavily on CC's file syncing feature, and as it's the only cloud storage product I'm actually paying for, I'm not willing to abandon it for another service like DropBox.  I'm willing to try just about anything-- and in the meantime I'm just wishing Creative Cloud Desktop app updates weren't compulsory; the last build I'd installed here was working perfectly fine.
My basic system specs in case it's helpful:
    Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1
    2x Intel Xeon E5-2670 @ 2.6GHz
    64GB DDR3 RAM
    nVidia Quadro 4000
Any insights would be incredibly appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

    Heyo Dave,
Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions.  Here's what I've discovered after some more noodling.
I'm no networking guy, but I can't seem to find anything about my modem or router that would explain why my upstream traffic is being throttled using CC-- especially since it's all the same hardware I was using last week before I updated CC.
In addition, I've tried test uploading a couple of files using DropBox, Google Drive, and WeTransfer.com, and neither process interrupts Internet use on my network.
With all that said, I did go in and pull back my Transfer Speed settings in CC from Maximum to Low, and that made a big difference!  Syncing continued to work, and our other network requests were working just fine.  I managed to get my upload speed set as high as Medium; High and Maximum both kill my network within seconds of being set.
So I'm not sure what was done to the CC application in this release to supposedly enable us to "Sync Files and Fonts faster" (from the release notes), but whatever it is, it's got my uploads capping at 100Kbps (compared to a minimum 350Kbps using Google Drive) unless no one in my home wants to check their email for the next hour.  That's a significant bummer for me, as my After Effects projects regularly swell to ~50MB toward the end of a project.
I'd like to submit a big report here, since really the only variable at play in this situation was the Creative Cloud update.  However, unfortunately it looks like the bug report form is down...  I'll have to try again later.
In the meantime, if there are any other suggestions for experiments I can run on this beast, I'm happy to oblige and report back in case other folks with similar issues can get some relief!
    Thanks again,
    Jared

  • XEROX PHASER 5500 drivers kill all print services

Just got a XEROX PHASER 5500 on our network, most machines deal with it fine, but after installing drivers on a Dual 2.3 ghz G5 running OSX 10.4.8 it kills all print services. Trying to print or pdf from any application gives me a dialogue saying that it can't open printer. I have set it up seemingly correctly in the Print & Fax preference pane, and even once I disabled the printer and reconnected my old one, I still couldn't get it to work. I had to run the uninstaller from xerox to get printing up and running. Any suggestions? Or known problems with this printer? Thanks.

  • Killer Network Manager literally 'killing' my network

I've recently bought the Z97M Gaming motherboard and installed the network driver that came with it.
Unfortunately the Killer Network Manager's "Bandwidth Control" setting seems to 'kill' my whole network. With that feature enabled you are unable to access the internet via ethernet or wireless regardless of device. It seemingly also stops access to the router via the default gateway IP however I haven't tried that from a device that isn't this computer. The only way to regain access is to reboot the router.
After spending several hours trying to diagnose the issue I finally discovered that it was the "Bandwidth Control" setting that I mentioned above so I naturally just disabled that. Unfortunately I've now found out that, despite the fact I've applied the changes with the "Bandwidth Control" setting turned off, it seems to re-enable itself when I put my computer to sleep and then power it up again.
I can't really go forward with continually rebooting the router in order to resolve the issue, I need a fix that I can perform locally. Ideally I'd like to be able to just install the network driver without installing the Killer Network Manager but it doesn't seem like MSI offer that option. The only other option that I can think of is to change something on my computer or on the router. The router is the Super Hub 2 / 2ac from Virgin Media.
Thanks in advance and please let me know if you require any further information.

MSI website provide the Killer Network Driver without KNM
    check this out
removed because I can't post links...
I did look on MSI's site and, for some reason, that driver isn't listed on the UK site (can't post links but just append uk. before msi.com).
I assume there's not going to be any locality issues with installing that driver and it's just an oversight that it isn't on the UK site?

  • How to kill all swing.Timer(s) at end of App

I am using a javax.swing.Timer to cause text to flash in the text field. However, I noticed that if this timer is running when I stop my app, the timer's thread is still running. It appears that the class that has the timer is not being garbage collected immediately upon application exit. Is there a way to kill all swing timers?
    Thanks,
    John

No. This is a class whose implementation I was hoping the main application would not have to know about. I was hoping that since I was using swing timers that when the application on which thread the swing timers are executing exited, all the swing timers attached to that application would be stopped.
Do you have a suggestion how I might be able to do this? I have an application "A" that uses a library class "B" method that happens to start a timer. I do not want "A" to have to explicitly stop "B" when the application is ending. Is there a way I can tag the timer so that it will stop when "A" exits? Or could I somehow link "B" to "A" so that a dispose method on "B" is called when "A" exits or disposes?
    Thanks,
    John

  • ITunes kills my network

Hi, I've seen a number of threads in the past about iTunes killing the network.  I'm trying to download the latest firmware for my iPad (4.3.2) but I am unable to do so as my network dies.  It only happens when I use iTunes.  I am on an ADSL Router, and it seems that it kills my connection between my PC (10.1.1.3) and my router/gateway (10.1.1.1)  As I type, my PC has been happily pinging the default gateway for 30 minutes now, but as soon as I try to download apps or the firmware, anytime between immediately and 60 seconds, it starts displaying "General Failure" and "Request timed out" randomly until it dies.  I then get random replies of "Reply from 10.1.1.3: Destination host unreachable." The firmware won't allow me to resume the download after it dies, which make it that much more difficult.

I have also tried updating from version 7 to 8 Itunes. This did not fix the issue.

  • My iPad 2 used to connect to my wifi and now will not at all. Prior to it becoming completely nonfunctional I could get it to connect by restarting it. Then that didn't work anymore so I went into general settings  reset all network settings.

Prior to it becoming completely nonfunctional I could just restart it and it would connect properly to the wifi. Then that work around stopped working. Then I went into general settings and reset all network settings and that worked for a while. When that stopped working I let the battery drain completely and then after a full charge it worked again for a while. Now nothing. What should I try next that will hopefully fix this issue more permanently?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Encrypt all Network data problems

    Hi all,
I am trying to securly connect to my friends computer over the internet.
We are both using 10.4 and both running ARD.
We can successfully connect and control each others computer when ARD security is set to 'encrypt all keystrokes and passwords' but the connection fails to connect when we try and use 'encrypt all network data'.
We have port 22 open on our routers and also have selected the checkbox to allow remote login in the system preferences.
I can connect via ssh to his account enabled for ARD and use terminal with normal UNIX restrictions, but we can't seem to get a successful connection with the full security settings in ARD.
An anyone suggest what we may be doing wrong ?
    Thanks in advance

    Anyone else noticing this behavior?

  • Sharing a physical machine / without killing all my apps

I've created a user account for a friend who occasionally uses my laptop to surf the web. OS X is telling me that for a second user to login, I need to logout, kill all my open apps, close all files, etc.
Seems to me I ought to be able to suspend my login session - then allow my friend to login and surf the web - and then resume my session with apps and files open as I last worked on them. How/can I access "suspend login session" and "resume login session" functionality?
    Thanks.

    System Preferences/Accounts
Check "Show fast user switching menu as:" and select how you want to display user names.
When you want to switch users, click on the user name in the upper right corner (next to the Spotlight icon).

  • Is Killer Network actually Killing My Network?

    Hello All,
I have been running into issues this past week after a recent computer build. One of my computers either is having Video Card Issues, or Network Issues.
I have a "Lan Center" that I have built over the years in my basement. Ever since the early Beta Counterstrike days I have always ran more than 1 computer in my household. Most of my friends are broke hippies, but I work in IT and enjoy playing once in a while.
The Game : GTA V for PC
The Problem : When going high speeds in vehicles, or when in big online lobby's. The framerate either drops (I don't know how to monitor FPS on this game as of yet) or my network is dying. On the other two PC's when in a private lobby, I can watch this PC lag in game. It will start off fine, but jump in a Bugatti, and it all goes to hell.
    The Hardware :
    Computer 1 -
    CPU -i7-5820K (No OC)
Video - EVGA GTX 970 (No OC)
    Mobo - ASRock X99X
    HDD - Samsung 850 Pro 512gb
    Ram - Crucial 16GB DDR4
    PSU - Corsair AX760
    CPU Cooler - Corsair H75
    Sound - Creative SB ZxR
    Case - NZXT H440
    OS - Win 7 64bit Pro
    Computer 2 -
    MSI GT60 20D-026US Laptop
    CPU - i7 4700MQ (No OC)
Video - GTX 780m (No OC)
    HDD - Samsung 840 EVO 500gb
    Ram - 16GB DDR3
    OS - Win 8.1 64bit
    Computer 3 -
    CPU - i7-4790K (No OC)
Video - Radeon HD7870 (No OC)
    Mobo - MSI Z97-GD65
    HDD - WD Black 1TB
    Ram - Kingston 8GB DDR3
    PSU - EVGA 750G2
    CPU Cooler - Stock
    Case - NZXT H440
    OS - Win 7 64bit Pro
    Network Equipment -
    Connection - Comcast 50/10
    Modem - Motorola SB6121
    Router - Netgear N750
Troubleshooting : I have already updated all of the drivers for the current hardware. I have already ran ALL windows updates. I have already ran Speccy on the culprit pc (Computer 3). All idle temps are fine, I left it running while running the game and all temps appear to be fine then as well. What I don't understand is the network graph, while in game it shows HUGE spikes and inconsistency. Thinking it could be a network cable, I replaced it with a new one. I just don't understand why this computer would spike and the other two don't. Another possibility is, when building this computer, it was basically a swap from my main computer. I never uninstalled the drivers for my GTX 970, so I guess there is a possibility that that is causing the video issue. All have Killer NIC cards. So stands my question. Is Killer Network, killing my network? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips on buffing up my network would be great as well. Thanks in advance!

I am with JLio01 on this. Try the Killer Network driver without the application and see if that fixes the issue.
There is not really any reason that it should lag like that.
