Flash settings manager "no plugin" ....

hello,
i hope this makes sence:  recently i updated to v10.3.181.34 through the adobe website and all went well except that now i get an internet explorer warning pop-up at *some* websites asking if i want to install the adobe flash player (publisher adobe systems incorporated) with only two choices - install or don't install....  the window is very plain (no corporate logos, colors, etc.) and measures about 6" wide and 3" high....  no traceable address is visable nor does the process show up in task manager.
so, after lurking here for some time i've come to see that there are many inter-related possabilities one of which i found through control panel....  btw, i'm using XP SP2 and IE v7 for backward compatability reasons.
what i found through the Flash control panel icon / the "Player settings manager applet" is that under the *Advanced* tab there are two entries - one for the activeX version (10.3.181.34) and one for the plug-in version that says "not installed."
it appears that (after extensive testing) i am able to play any flash content but certain sites have a "run flash=yes" entry in their source code and that is where and when this popup appears and i kill it by selecting 'dont install' whereupon the rest of the page loads and everything is ok.....?
since i've already updated once successfully, why isn't there an entry for the "plug-in" and how do  i verify that it isn't already there given that *IE add-on manager* shows entries for both 32-bit shockwave activeX control and shockwave flash object in the "downloaded controls" section ?
having been bitten once by a false pop-up, i'm very hesitant to blindly trust this one even though it looks authentic *and* does not register any alarms with my protection software (zonealarm internet and spy sweeper).
any suggestions ?

hello  ɹəuəllıʍ,
it pays to keep trying and trying - finally i don't get the popup AND the correct image shows up in your link....
the solution was to remove a "damaged" activeX component from the IE browser helper manager and then UNinstall all of the previous version AND then install the newest version while off-line with the antivirus software OFF.
now i go to the site(s) and there is no popup and the image i see is "version 10-3-183-5 installed."
thanks for your help and good luck with all the rest.
my advise to everyone is *follow the instructions*  ! ! !
PROBLEM SOLVED.

1). Go to the Adobe Flash Settings Manager Link:

thanks for posting your work around.  i'm sure people who encounter the same issue will find it useful.  alternatively, you may be able to change the settings while in fullscreen.  switch a video into fullscreen (eg. youtube.com) and right-click the stage.  you should be able to interact with the settingsui...

  • No prompt to update when Flash Player Settings Manager is set to check for updates automatically

My understading of http://forums.adobe.com/message/3562892#3562892 (March 2011) is that when an outdated version of the Player is used on Windows, the prompt to update should occur after the next restart of the operating system.
So, when http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ in Safari for Windows shows an outdated version 10.x of the Player:
    I restart Windows
    I log on
    I wait a few minutes.
    Problem
Usually, no matter how long I wait, there is no prompt to update; Flash Player Settings Manager continues to show an outdated plug-in alongside a greater version of the ActiveX item.
I see this problem with multiple computers running Windows XP and Windows 7.
    Any suggestions?

Flash Player checks for updates every 7 days. The NCP doesn’t change this.  Where the user in that post is getting confused is that only after Flash Player detected an update (on average 3.5 days after a new version is released), the dialog will appear after a restart.

  • Trying to access Flash Player Settings Manager always asks to install but I already have it installe

I am trying to access Flash player website settings manager.  I link from a browser to the settings manager but instead of a panel there is a download required to get latest Flash Player which I already have.  I download it successfully. Windows 7 control panel has Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX 64-bit. When I link again, I get the same message to download flash player as if I never did it before.  What am I missing? There is also Flash Player (32-bit) icon that invokes Flash Player settings manager. Is this the best I can do to get the website storage settings?  My ultimate goal is to remove Flash player cookies which I learned about today to be a problem. Thanks.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  Just at what site are you getting this message to download instead of the settings panel?

If you want to temporarily remove Flash Player LSO's(cookies), just delete the browser's temporary files.  If you want to permanently remove LSO's, go to your control panel and activate the Flash Player Settings Manager.  Change the Local Storage Settings to Block all sites from storing information on this computer.  However, most sites with Flash Player videos will not work with this setting.

  • I am unable to retain my Settings  Manager changes for Adobe Flash version 9.0.124.0

    Hi there:)
Every time I log out from the Adobe online Settings Manager
and then check the settings at a later stage the changes that I
made earlier have not been retained?
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and if so is
    there a solution?
My version of Adobe Flash is 9.0.124.0. Before installing
this version I uninstalled the old version using the latest version
of the Adobe uninstaller ( after 8/4/08 ).
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.....
    Howard:)

    Dear all!
May I ask you for some help here?
I do not have any problems with the player so far, but can
not change the settings online, because there is no picture of the
settings manager. Only a download button to download flash player
    once again.
What is wrong with my installation? I just don't know.
I am using Windows Vista basic and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or IE
    7.0.
My internet provider is T-Mobile with a wireless connection
called Web 'n' Walk box home.
Wherever I go online instead of my home's laptop I will find
    the setting manager alright!
    Help is very appreciated.

  • What camera resolution mode is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager

What camera resolution is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager? I am referring to the camera settings that you have to pull up by right-clicking on a Flash Player swf that is running, and from the right-click menu you hit settings...select the camera tab...and then you can hit the little camera icon and will show you the live video feed from the camera.
In order for the live feed to be displayed, Flash Player requests a camera resolution mode to the driver. What mode is being requested?
For example, could it be 160x120 @ 30fps?
    Or is it 176x144 @ 30fps?
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html#117113

I have the same cam as you (it's apretty darn good cam IMHO).
I don't ever see any resolution request when I click the icon.
My cam initializes at 1920X1080, per the logitech specs. The box in the settings is 4:3, but the cam is running at 16:9, in apps like Skype, or FaceTime (Mac).
It shows the same setup screen in WIn XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, which ALL share the same cam on my setup.
Being as the cam feed in the setup is 4:3, I'd have to say the resolution is 160:120  as opposed to 176:144 which would be a 5.3:3 or 16:9.

  • I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager

I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager.
as Adobe says at his help document (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlayer/LSM/WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7ff8.htm l):
Displays a list of previously visited websites that have asked to use the camera or microphone on your computer. You can allow or block the use of your camera and microphone by sites on the list. You can also ask to be prompted for permission to use them. Finally, you can choose to remove sites from the list. Removing a site deletes all settings and data stored for that site in Flash Player.
The list initially contains only the sites you have already visited. If you want to specify camera and microphone settings for sites you have not yet visited, you can choose to add sites to the list. Once a site is on the list, you can specify whether to always allow camera and microphone use, ask permission, or never allow camera and microphone use by that site.
I cannot find any button to add a website. Can you help me please.
    Thanks in advanced

  • Flash Player: Settings Manager

    OS: Windows 7
    Browser: Firefox 3.6.15
    Flash Player version 10,2,153,1
    My problem:
It started about 2 days ago when I got on my computer after about a week off, I went to open http://www.pandora.com/ when it gave me an error telling me the Local flash storage is currently disabled and must be re-enabled before I could use Pandora. After getting to the settings manager page I attempted to change the setting to allow it instead, nothing happened.
Some of the options change, but uppon switching to another tab (of the settings manager) or closing the browser tab they revert. Some options wont change at all.
At the moment all the settings seem to be "off", Please help I don't really have any Idea what to do.
    I've tried re-installing.
PS: I also have a second user account, (I'm on the admin account) The settings manager works fine and all the buttons work on the second account and nothing seems to be wrong with adobe on it.

From the account where the settings don't work:
    close all browser windows
    open Windows Explorer
type %appdata%\Adobe in the address bar
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
type %appdata%\Macromedia in the address bar
delete the 'Flash Player' folder in there
    Now try again.

  • Flash Player won't install - says Flash Player Settings Manager is open

I cannot install Flash Player on my Win7 64-bit PC. When running the install from the download page, I simply get the error "Installation failed - Unknown Error". If I run the install from the standalone installer I get the message "Flash Player Settings Manager is Open" and a "quit" button".
I don't know what the Flash Player Settings Manager is or where to find it. It certainly does not seem to be "open" anywhere that I can see.

There was a discussion about this topic. One answer that many people found useful is:
    1. Check for the file 'FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl' in the following folders:
    On 32-bit systems, C:\Windows\system32
    On 64-bit systems, C:\Windows\syswow64
    2. Delete this file.
If you don't have the permission to delete the same, use a third-party application, such as Unlocker. (http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/)
    3.Try installation or uninstallation.
    Thanks

  • Where is the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manage?

I want to get rid of "Press escape to exit full screen mode." You tell me to go to "Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager." Where is this?

I am not sure what the instructions may be that you are following.
For FlashPlayer control panel try this
    * http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
The link should actually open the control panel.

  • Manage "Flash Player Settings Manager" in IT Environment

    Hello Community,
Is there an IT Administrators guide or document for managing and configuring the "Flash Player Settings Manager" Control Panel app for version 10.3?  We have approximately 1000 systems that we need to manage and push the software to and basically want to turn off the "check for updates automatically" and "Check Now" Updates features.  I would like to be able to configure the Settings Manager applet in the configuration of Flash Player before deployment so that we don't have to manually configure each workstation post install (which will never happen anyway...too many systems ).
Flash Player updates will be managed through our Altiris Notification server to keep all systems up to date.
Any help in this direction would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, while you can disable checking for updates with the mms.cfg file, the UI on Windows does not reflect the changes that the admin has enacted.  The mms.cfg functionality is still applied, we just didn't have enough time in the current release to reflect that in the UI.  I believe our next release will address this, you should be able to verify by testing out our FP 11 RC release.

  • Flash Player Settings Manager - Text Missing

I am running Windows XP Professional on several machines.  When I launch the "Flash Player Settings Manager" Control Panel applet, I have noticed some missing text in the line items with radio buttons.  This is happening on all of my computers.  For example, under the "Storage" tab, here is what I see...
Notice that at the end of each of the lines with radio buttons, it stops at "this" rather than "this computer" as it should.  On all four of the tabs, each of the lines that have a radio button is missing the last word.
After a bit of trial and error, I figured out the cause of this problem - I just don't have a solution.  Under the "Display" Control Panel applet, I am running the "Windows Classic" theme rather than the default "Windows XP" theme (I don't care for the "cartooney" look).  Anyway, I run all of my computers like this.  When I change to the "Windows XP" theme, the text is displayed correctly...
I wanted to see if anyone else can replicate this.  If so, hopefully Adobe can fix this in a future release.
    -Steve

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the excellent bug report!  I really appreciate the level of detail you gave (I love screenshots) and providing others with a workaround.  I wanted to let you know that this is a known issue (our internal bug number is 2876437) and it should be fixed in our next scheduled release.  Please feel free to ping me anytime for future updates.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • ¿No 'Flash Player Settings Manager' in the new flashplugin package?

I think this Settings Manager should be included in the 'flashplugin' package. In other distributions, like fedora, developers included it.
    Thank You!!
