Flash site issue
I have a problem with a flash site I inherited. When I click
the back button in Internet Explorer it takes me all the the way
back to the Flash intro and not the last page I was in. This
appears to be a site issue problem it is not IE related. Any help
appreciated.
Hi
The Browser cannot differeniate between so called 'Pages'
within a Flash site. To the browser your site is one page, when you
navigate thru your flash site it does not report 'Page'
changes to the Browser. However if your navigation changed html
'Pages' then it would work forwards and backwards.
To overcome this problem you have to put in your own 'Back' /
'Next' navigation within the flash site, recording any significant
page/content change and then allowing the user to decide their
direction using your controls.
Hope it helps

2 Adobe flash site issues..
Questions1:
I have a script error message of.
scene=scene1, layer=actions, frame=2, line=9. Error opening including file gs/datatransfer/xmlfunctions.as File not found.
how do I fix this, I won't load my site when I hit publish preview. Have been fighting with the idiots of Template monster for over two weeks and no help.
Questions 2:
On my template I have a page that needs to be edited, the template monster people wont help and I do not have the slightest idea how to go about doing it.
Simply put the "buttons" that should pull up a seperate little text on the page do not do anything. I need to know how to make the words into a clickable and how to set up so the text will show up(the text does not even exhist, each time I have tried the text either duplicates at every button or does not show up at all). I will send files its not too intense just don't know how to go about it.
And one more question..
How do I upload the site to register.com??? I am wits end, the uploading programs they have I don't understand.
I want to use filezilla to publish site. but I need a walk through.
Thanks sooo much in Advance.
Need to get the site up ASAP.1. you need xmlfunctions.as in the gs/datatransfer directory
2. there's no way to tell you that without specific info about your template. for example, what "buttons"? what do you mean by "pull up"?
3. you need to enter your site's ftp address, username and password, for example, in the quick connect bar: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Using -
How do I get the Flash site to work on the server
Hi,
I'm a beginner working with Studio 8. I have the Flash site
working as desired from my desktop, but I have issues once loaded
to the server. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right
direction.
Firstly, I would like the site to work within a non-sizeable
browser window. I am not sure how to do this.
Secondly, when I try to visit the uploaded site, it appears
not to load properly. I see an isolated movie clip loaded on the
screen, but my pre-loader never displays, and there is no animation
at all.
I am not sure where to start looking, but if you do, please
share - grateful, I will be.
-Brianok - here is an update.
For reasons unknow to me, the Flash site works on my pc now
that I re-published the html. Unfortunately, everyone else that I
ask to visit have to refresh their browser before they see it
animate and work.

Error message when loading FLASH site in ie on PC (swfobject)
Hello...I sudes "swfobject" to embed my Flash site, and have also alt. XHTML content representing the site for non-Flash users and for SEO purposes. Everything loads and wroks just fine from the MAC, but some users (on IE, with PC), are getting the fllowing error message:
Line (Zeile):5
item (Zeichen): 9157
Error (Fehler): expecting function
Code: 0
URL: www.foxolutions.de
I have included the german words in parentheses (they are viewing the site from there and are getting the message in German).
My question: does this message refer to my code in FLASH? Or is there something in the XHTML that I messed up? Please let me know....thanks - your input is greatly appreciated!
ClaudiaI had a quick look at your code and found;
The issue happens on page load and is not confined to the button.
When I copy| paste the page code into my browser I can load it without errors… this suggests a script error of some kind.

Accessing a Flash site via safari
This question sounds like a Flash/ActionScript question, but it's really a Safari question, so please bare with me.
Hello, I am creating a website for an artist and she complains that nothing works. Mainly the embedded links (URLs). I tested the site in MSEI7 and the links work fine (but NOT in Firefox 2). I don't have a MacBook, and the one she has she says is pretty old, and doesn't know the version of Safari. The issue is that before the links worked fine, but then when I re-published the Flash SWF file the links wouldn't work on her Mac, but on Windows.
My question is can anyone here please go to the site and tell me if you can navigate the links and if they activate? The links are *butterflybaby LA*, edenSTD, blog, *click here for my est*y, and when you click *peep my gallery* you'll see two buttons for URL links to the gallery.
If anyone has ever built a Flash site for the Mac can you help me to figure out why in some cases the links work on the Mac but not Windows and vice versa. This is ******* me off. I'm asking here and not a Flash dev site because I want inout from people who use the same computer she does. And from I can tell Windows users use Flash and mac users use QuickTime. The ActionScript is basic URL embedding, nothing fancy. I used a combination of gotoURL("http://www.domain.com");, then gotoURL("http://www.domain.com", "_self");, gotoURL("http://www.domain.com", _parent");, and gotoURL("http://www.domain.com", "_blank");. All with mixed resluts, but none would work on BOTH Mac and Windows (and on Windows not BOTH Firefox and MSIE). Again I knwo this is a question for Flash/ActionScript, but I have a great feeling that it may Safari is having issues.
Thanks
Paul
BTW - I'm using Macromedia (Not Adobe) Flash Professional 8.0.Stupid! I forgot the LINK! http(colon)//www(dot)butterflybaby-la(dot)com
I did that because many of these corporate owned forums now-a-days are weird about links.

Hi all,
I have got a flash site running and have recently run into
some browser issue with Firefox. Firefox doesn't seem to reflect
the new swf files that I have replaced with the old on the server.
I have already tried clearing the cache but to no avail. However it
seem to appear fine on both IE and Safari and I didn't use to have
this issue until recently.
Is is just a firefox problem? Is there any way around this?
Enlighten me
please...This is probably pointless, but when you go to Tools >
Options - Privacy
tab - In Private Data, Settings - are you certain cache is
checked on? I am
running FF 2.0.0.12 and in the past couple days I've been
modifying files on
servers like mad and the cache clears as expected.

Some Flash Sites are not displayed with Flash Player 9
Hello everyone,
After having upgraded to Flash Player 9 I cannot view some
flash sites on either FF or IE.
I have checked around with other users also and they cannot
see them either.
Although the page seems to be loading with title etc. it
remains blank or it shows a blank block where it is supposed to be
the flash movie.
The problem is that it only happens to dynamic flash sites
that load text and images from external documents.
With Flash Player 8 they worked just fine.
The problem is that it is our company's page so we want to
have it up and running for everybody.
You can check the page here:

Any help would be appreciated.

there should be no need to do anything with converting to Adobe
Flash to fix
> the problem. Perhpas you simply uploaded the wrong files
( a lot of people who fixed their swf files then loaded the old swf
> files back to their server .. or didn't clear their
internet caceh and so did not see the fixed files anyway).
When a customer's business website goes down after installing
Flash Player 9 he just wants the site back up. First I had to
figure
out that they installed the Flash 9 player and then I had to
go to the Swish site to find out that Swish files won't run right
on
the Flash 9 player unless they get patched first. After
running the downloaded patch on all the swfs on the site (yes
uploaded
correct files and cleared the cache) there were still odd
things happening. I didn't have time to analyze why this was so, I
just
had to put the site back up and fast. Now that I have that
site back up (I have others that will need fixing too, no doubt), I
will go back and test everything again with Swish.
There are a whole lot of hours being lost over this
Swish/Flash9 player issue. Regardless of who's fault it is, there
are many
Flash sites down now.

Modifying Existing Flash Action Scipt Flash Site
I have an existing flash site denominated with the name StudioDesign and its a basic animated site with masks and animated texts and sounds and texts treated as buttons that animate changing colors and moving left and right. It has the usual basic 5 buttons to go to get URls: Home, About Us, Products, Services and Contacts buttons. I would like to add more text buttons but to no avail.. Tried copying duplicating, making new, backwards engineering and could not make it work. Please Help short time left to finish. Original Site: http://www.shoplaspampas.com/flashsite/index.swf
original flash file http://www.shoplaspampas.com/flashsite/index.fla new revised swf: http://www.shoplaspampas.com/flashsite/pampas_01.swf and the new revised flash file http://www.shoplaspampas.com/flashsite/pampas_01.fla.
This is what I want the site to look like and go to respective url pages: http://www.shoplaspampas.com/flashsite/pampas_01.png.Thanks Ned, I actually already tried that and don't see anything out of the norm.
Interestlingly enough, I found the original, untouched template FLA & SWF and it does the exact same thing.
Very strange.
On an added note. The loading issue is occurring at the end of the "intro" scene, and does not continue into the "main" scene.
Thank you! -
Need help getting Flash site running after pointed to new nameservers
Can't get Gaia site working on a new server

Hi. I recently switched from 1&1 shared hosting to a new webhost, Holistic.
My Flash site (based on the Gaia framework) doesn't work now.
Using the Flashplayer Debugger, I got the following error:
from Main: view.scaleX = 0.9041666666666667 and view.scaleY = 1.0129032258064516
from Main: view.x = 0 and view.y = 0
Error: Failed to load policy file from xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:5800
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:5800 by requestor from http://www.yourgods.com/bin/main.swf has failed because the server cannot be reached.
*** Security Sandbox Violation ***
Connection to 127.0.0.1:5800 halted - not permitted from http://www.yourgods.com/bin/main.swf
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:5800 by requestor from http://www.yourgods.com/bin/main.swf has failed because the server cannot be reached.
Also got this note even though I've set allowscriptaccess to always in my index.html:
Warning: AllowScriptAccess='never' found in HTML. This setting is ineffective and deprecated. See http://www.adobe.com/go/allowscriptaccess for details.
Warning: 'com' has no property 'onEnterFrame'
Regarding the Security Sandbox violation, my old webhost was 1&1, and they are still the official Registrar of YourGods.com - but I now have YourGods.com pointed at the DomainNameServers for my new host, Holistic, which specializes in Drupal and has no experience with Flash - so I hope you'll bear with me and offer what guidance you can since they said I was basically on my own for troubleshooting any Flash related problems.
Is that likely to be the source of my problem (that I'm only 'pointing' to the nameservers and have only 'parked' my domain with the new host instead of transferring it completely?
And if so, do I just need to create a cross domain policy xml file like the one below and leave it on my Old Webhost?
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="MyNewDedicatedIPAddressHere" />
</cross-domain-policy>
I've never dealt with this cross domain stuff before so any help would be much appreciated. As a test, I uploaded my Flash/Gaia site into an existing site on my old host. And although the site actually works in this setting, when I run things in the FlashPlayerDebugger, I'm still getting Security Sandbox Violations - so (as adninjastrator suggested in earlier post), this may have nothing to do with the DNS changes - but perhaps with my setting things up wrong somewhere so that the Flashplayer is trying to access my local computer - maybe??
Debugger logs gives me this:
Error: Failed to load policy file from xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:5800
Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:5800 by requestor from http://recreationofthegods.com/bin/main.swf has failed because the server cannot be reached.
*** Security Sandbox Violation ***
So, I've now uploaded the identical bin (which contains all the files for my site) - but I'm getting different behaviors on the two hosts.
On the new holistic servers, the site won't go past the first page: www.yourgods.com
On the 1&1 servers, I still get runtime errors in FlashPlayerDebugger - but the site runs ok - http://www.RecreationOfTheGods.com/bin/index.html
Posting those links in hopes someone with more experience in these sandbox issues can help steer me in the right direction. -
Flash site play all frames without stopping
Hi all,
I'm just getting back into flash and have forgotten most of
what I knew. I've been handed a file and need to figure out how to
proceed to address this issue:
The file is a full website. It's a fairly simple design with
a graphic and some buttons. When you click one of the buttons, the
main graphic changes to content for that 'page'.
The problem is when the file is published it just plays every
layer/frame in it and loops as well. It should display the key
'home page' elements (buttons/main graphic) and then stop and wait
for a button to be clicked before running the code for that button.
I think maybe it needs a stop action on the first frame, but
in CS3 (or probably any version now, but that's what I'm using) I
can't figure out how to check to see what actions are on a frame,
and I apparently don't know how to add a stop action effectively to
the first frame.
The file has an 'actions' layer, but if I click the first
frame of that layer (which appears to have an action attached to
it), I don't see any action. If I add a stop action, then publish,
the file DOES stop like it should, but then none of the buttons
work.
Does it sound like I need to insert a frame BERFORE the first
frame, and then add the stop action to that? In other words, could
it be the case that I'm putting the stop action on the first frame,
and the button layers operate (begin) on that first frame as well
such that when I click on a button it fires the stop action I setup
to stop the entire site file from playing?
Is there any other setting/issue that might cause a file
designed as I've described (simple website with buttons) to run
through all the content without ever stopping and waiting for
input?
If someone could just point me in the right direction, I
think I'll be fine. I might need to rearrange some of the layers so
they don't start on the first frame...so maybe that's it?
I know this is simple and I hate asking, but I have to get
this done quickly...
thanks for any help,
DBThanks for the reply, r_c,
I really appreciate your response. In an indirect way, it may
have at least helped me figured out the 'what happened' part.
I went back into the file and, just for the heck of it, was
going to add stop actions to every frame on the actions bar. During
that process I saw (for about the forth time) some comment code in
the actions window that I had sort of assumed was just there by
default (what was I thinking?). The comment said something like
'actions would NOT be exported in files in the unregistered
version'. In retrospect (and after a few slices of pizza), that
explains why there are lots of frames with the action symbol but
when I open the frame's action window no actions are there (just
the comment). I think whoever tried to modify this file tried to do
it with the trial download and then saved the file and the process
basically wiped out all the actions in the file :/ So I have a
flash site now with all th code missing.
That being the case (at least I'm pretty confident it is),
I'm going back to the guy tomorrow at work and tell him that, if he
(or his subordinate) was dumb enough to copy over the original file
instead of working on a copy then, at best, I MIGHT be able to
rework the thing by Tuesday (after the long weekend) to add back
all the necessary actions to have it functioning again.
That (process) will be kind of good review for me and,
besides, it might be easier essentially starting over than it would
be to try and follow someone else's setup all the way down to the
point where it's messed up....if that makes any sense. Plus, I can
rename all the layers instead of looking at 90 layers named 'layer
1', 'layer 2', etc etc...and then have the code use the descriptive
names.
Anyway, I do really appreciate the response. It helped me
find enough of an answer to know how to proceed from here, which is
the best I could have hoped for given my fairly vague description
of the situation to begin with.
Thanks again,

Hi,
I have exported an Encore project to Flash and it works ok locally.
When i copy the all the exported files onto a Webserver, then create a virtual directory pointing to it, the main menu appears yet none of the video plays.
The source folder etc has been copied over, as i see that has been an issue in previous posts.
The server is Win2003 and the virtual directory is added to the default web site.
I am making no amendments to the exported files except moving them to a webserver.
Can anyone please help? The only Encore/Flash related issue that could be going on is that you haven't copied ALL of the items used (the source folder, the .html, the .swf). But, since you said you did all that, then I don't know why that wouldn't work for you.
In the URL, do you have a trailing "/" at the end? That can play a role. Also, check case-sensitivity (type in the URL exactly as the folder is listed).
I'm sure you've got your own reasons for using virtual directory...however, have you tried setting up the Flash DVD on the site any other way to at least determine whether or not your virtual directory setup is the source of the problem? Try setting it up some other way....if it works, then you at least have a better idea where the problem lies. If it still doesn't work, then....something may well be missing, despite your best efforts to ensure a 100% transfer.
Good luck! -
Link to external URL from flash site
Is there any way to link to an external URL from your flash
site without having the flashplayer prompt you to change your
settings and allow access to that page? (this only applies to swfs
viewed through a browser)
the only way around this i've found isn't very useful - you
have to put a small xml file on the host server where the page you
want to link to is located. i seriously doubt every site you want
to link to will allow you to put an xml file on their host server
just so you can link to their page. the code in the xml file just
tells flashplayer that the site you are trying to access is safe.
it's called crossdomain.xml
anyone have an answer?
thanks! This question was answered by kglad, on Saturday, August 11,

Answer
no it doesn't. getURL() causes no security issues unless you
try to open the html locally and (try to) access something on the
internet.
unless your "flash site" is your local computer there is no
security issue. if your local computer is an internet server, you
just need to set the security settings for your local file and give
it permission to access the internet zone. -
Is there a solution or work around for flash player issues?
Is there a solution, app or work around for flash player issues w/ iPad 2? Maybe even something in development?
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so you could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app). But flash itself is unlikely to ever be supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ , and Adobe have failed to create a version of flash that works on iOS
There is a search box on the right-hand side of this page for further info. -
