Flash Sound Bytes

Hi everyone,
We have an Orchestra client who wants to have sound bytes of
their music on their website. I have all the music files as MP3.
The site is HTML. I was wondering if there is an easy way to create
Flash files to use for sound bytes. A good example of what I am
looking for is on
Sound
Ranger's Website (mouse over arrows on the demo column).
I tried a workaround by creating sound bytes using the Flash
Video Encoder and then putting each FLV sound byte on a pop-up
window that auto-plays the music. However, all the pop-up windows
are kind of cheesy and annoying. I was hoping there would be
something better...
Any help would be greatly appriciated!
Regards,
Jose

Sounds like you are trying to use a hammer to screw in a
screw.
You want a sound/music editing program for this. Garageband
would probably
fit the bill for you.

  • I have a "welcome" sound byte on my web site, The Northern Bard. Whenever I open it in Firefox, there is a QuickTime crash and the sound byte doesn't play.

    I have had a web site on Tripod since 1997. The opening page has Madeline Kahn doing the Lilly von Schtupp welcome from "Blazing Saddles", which plays on IE, Chrome, and other browsers, but NOT on Firefox. It's very annoying, when I keep getting updates from QuickTime on my desktop, to keep getting the "QuickTime has crashed" message, I keep REPEATEDLY sending crash reports, I've done all you tell me to do to get it to quit doing that, yet the problem continues.
    How about either giving REAL solutions to the problem or fix whatever bug Firefox has up it's chimney so that people using Firefox to visit my web site can hear the music and sound bytes I programmed in to make my pages fun?

    Please make sure that they are up to date [[Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems]]
    Has the website been updated since it was created? It would be interesting to see if the way to implement background music has changed.

  • In need of a Code Point sound byte

    I am going through volume one of Core Java after studying Java using Absolute Java (Savitch) and I am sorely in need of a sound byte explaining code points. I know they are used to store Unicode values and should be used rather than char when traversing a string. More info would be helpful.

    Sound bite: "Don't worry about it".
    Longer version: when Java and Unicode were first designed, Unicode fit into a space where 16-bit characters were plenty. Then at some point it turned out that 16 bits wasn't plenty after all, given all of the new scripts which Unicode was bringing into the tent. So the 16-bit characters were dubbed the "Basic Multilingual Plane" (BMP for short) and the Unicode consortium created a lot more "planes" for all of those obscure scripts were dubbed "astral characters". Basically you need a 32-bit representation for those characters.
    Start here: Plane (Unicode) to learn more about that.

  • No Flash Sound on YouTube

    HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv9700
    Service Tag dv9910us
    Window 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
    Get no Flash sound on YouTube or CNN.  Get good sound from YouTube videos saved to hard drive by Realplayer.   Then the saved YouTube video plays everywhere: Windows Media Player, VLC and Realplayer.  I recall the YouTube sound disappeared in the last weekend of Nov 2011 when Flash was automatically updated.  At first it was intermittent and then silent forever.
    So far.  No luck.   I deleted and reinstalled Adobe Flash.  Even tried the Flash Uninstall Utility.  Actually I deleted everything with Adobe listed on it vias Control Panel Uninstall.  I deleted the sound driver for the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and reinstalled.  I even unpdated it.  I consecutively deleted and downloaded the latest versions of IE, FireFox & Chrome.  I tried Microsoft Fix-It.
    In Device Manager, there are two yellow warnings.  NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (Code 10) and USB Host Controller (Code 43).  I don't know if one of these can be the issue.
    One weirdo.  Sound worked for 30 seconds one night the first week of March when my wife innocently started to watch YouTube.  When I realized it and called it to her attention, the sound disappeared.  Go figure!
    I'm thinking of restoring Windows 7, but that will create a lot of work for me.
    Any new information on a fix?
    With so many complaints -- it seems -- everywhere, I'm surprised someone like Adobe has fixed the problem?
    Naive question:  Are we locked into Adobe Flash Player for YouTube or CNN?
    Thanks.

    Do you hear audio on either of these two pages?

  • Extract audio from .fls (Flash Sound Bundle File)

    Greetings!
    I would like to ask if it's possible to unbundle a Flash
    Sound Bundle file? I've downloaded FlashLiteBundler.exe to check if
    it can also unbundle, but it could not. A client wants to reuse
    their audio files from a previous project, but alas, they could
    only give us files of .fls format.
    Any ideas on how I can go about this?
    Peace!

    Hi kglad!
    Thanks for the reply. :)
    1) The sad part is that Flash Lite 1.1 Sound Bundler only
    appears as a flat square with the words "Drop Sound Files Here." A
    few audio files are supported, such as .mid and you just drag the
    audio onto the square, until a window appears which says, "MIDI
    file __.mid added, size ___ KB" There are no other controls there
    except the Delete, Clear All and Save Bundle buttons.
    2) When I try dragging an existing .fls file (the one from
    the client), it says "Unknown sound format, file not added."
    3) When I try dragging an .fls file which I made myself using
    Flash Lite 1.1 Sound Bundler (FlashLiteBunder.exe), an "OK" message
    box appears, which says "1 device sound found. MIDI (___KB)". Other
    than that, I can't get the Sound Bundler to do anything else.
    I was wondering whether there's another way to unbundle using
    another Flash tool, or maybe the bundled file is in a known format
    which I can unbundle with something else? When opened in a text
    editor, the .fls files from the client begin with "FWS".
    Thanks.

  • Bell sound byte is driving me crazy...Chromium?

    Every minute or two a bell audio sound byte is emitted from my audio system.  I notice this happens only when chromium is up.  It is not coming from any particular website and typically starts after chromium is acivated.
    Ideally, I would like to find the cause and eliminate it rather than "mute" any aspect of my sound system.  The "xset -b" command was attempted with no resolve.
    Can somebody suggest a means of tracking the specific cause of this problem - maybe the ability to monitor and identify the program talking to the sound system when it happens.   This problem started recently, and I typically keep my system up to date on a daily basis.
    Alsa and Pulseaudio are loaded on my system.
    Help!!!!

    Thanks, but I am sure the sound is not coming from the mainboard built-in speaker.
    I have watched this closely by turning off apps/websites and narrowed it down to an affiliation with the browser.  I think it's coming from some browser app, possibly injected by a website, but really don't know enough about how these apps are able to attach themselves to a browser.  Then again I could be wrong.  I would like the find the source of this annoyance and tell the world.  Ya know how that goes.
    I get some hits when searching the web for this problem, but all solutions recommend trying to turn the sound system off in some manner.  I would rather find out what's causing it.
    Based on replies, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest and maybe a road less traveled.
    If not this problem, I would be interested in knowing how one might try to track down an application by monitoring a /dev or some socket.  In this case, maybe there is a /dev that some app can monitor and produce reports on what programs attempt to use it.

  • Turn Flash Sound OFF in Javascript or HTML

    My client would like the Flash banner I'm using to play audio
    only on the home page. Can I shut the sound off in javascrpt or
    html (in the object tag properties)? Client does not want a sound
    toggle button - simply no sound.
    I know I can create a second version of the Flash without
    sound - but then users would have to load that file in addition to
    the first Flash. I've searched without any luck. Any help would be
    much appreciated.

  • What it the problem with Flash sound?

    I have had nothing but a nightmare with the use of voice with Flash. It sound fine when I record it. It sound fine when I'm working with it in Flash. As soon as I export it the sound winds up all squished. What am I doing wrong?

    There are two places where compression can be applied to sounds that are imported into Flash.
    1. Select a sound in the Library and right click on it. Select the Properties... option. When that window opens you will see the options for setting the type and amount of compression for the individual sound file.
    2. In the Publish Settings window make sure that the "Override sound settings" option is NOT checked.
    You should hear the sounds in the finished .swf the same as you do when playing the timeline.

  • Flash Sound Quality in CS5

    I'm looking to upgrade from Flash 8 Professional to the newest version.  Has the quality of imported sounds improved beyond the tinny, in-the-submarine effect?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    The way that Flash handles sound is one of the few things that has not changed in Flash in a long time. That being said, the quality of the sound that comes out of Flash is related to the quality of the sound that goes in. There is one set of compression/quality adjustments in the Properties window for the imported sound file in the Library panel. There is a second set of compression/quality adjustments for all of the sounds in the Publish Settings window. This second set is useful if you want to adjust sounds that are imported at runtime.

  • Flash sound suddenly distorted

    The sound for my Flash player is suddenly mega-distorted (to
    the point that I can't understand anything and my speakers sound
    blown out). But the sound for all other functions (media player,
    dvd player, etc.) is completely fine, so it's not the speakers.
    It's not any particular website, either--I've tried Flash on
    multiple websites and the sound is messed up across the board. The
    playback might be slow as well, but it's hard to tell what's going
    on without the sound...
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    UPDATE III:
    OK, I figured this out. Hopefully this will help others. I
    found a post on the Apple website talking about sample rate
    settings in a utility called "Audio MIDI Setup" in OS X. This is
    really just a more detailed sound preferences panel (so I don't
    know why the h*ll they didn't just make an "advanced" mode for the
    prefs panel, instead of making you seek out this special utility
    that changes system settings). In it you can change the sample rate
    and bit depth for sound input and output into the system. When I
    opened this utility the first thing that I noticed was the system
    was set up to output sound to the FW unit at 48k sample rate.
    So I reasoned correctly that Flash can't output audio output
    at 48k. It outputs at 44.1 k or less apparently. As soon as I set
    the FW device's output sample rate to 44.1k, audio out of Flash
    immediately sounded crystal clear again. The distortion was, I
    suppose, system software trying to interpolate the 44.1k sound to
    48k before output.
    So the lesson is: pay attention to sample rate settings in
    the "Audio MIDI Setup" utility. I just can't believe it took me
    this long to find out that the utility exists and that the people
    at PreSonus didn't know about it, or this potential issue. But
    either way I'm glad I've got the Focusrite unit now and it works
    swimmingly well.

  • Flash sound skipping problem

    When using Firefox 3.0.8 - as the site starts up, the music plays a couple of notes of song 1, stops and then restarts song 1; giving a "skipping" effect.
    When using IE 7.0.5730.13-  as the site starts up, the music plays a couple of notes of song 1, stops and then starts song 2; giving a worse "skipping" effect.
    This only happens when the site starts up. Once the music is playing it cycles through the songs just fine. The play/pause button works fine too.
    What am I doing that is causing this behavior? Help?
    I am using Flash CS3, ActionScript 2.0, the songs are in the same folder as the .swf and are named music1.mp3, music2.mp3, music3.mp3.
    Here is what I have in frame 2 on the script layer:
    var mysong = new Sound();
    _root.mysong.onLoad = function (loadedOK) {
    if(loadedOK) {
        _root.mysong.start(0,1);
    _root.mysong.onSoundComplete = function () {
        nextSong(1);
    currentSong = 0;
    maxSongs = 3;
    function nextSong (changeVal) {
        currentSong += changeVal;
        if (currentSong > maxSongs) {
            currentSong = 1;
        _root.mysong.loadSound("music"+currentSong+".mp3", true);
    nextSong(1);
    Code in frame 1 (play) of the volume control movie:
    stop();
    _root.mysong.start(playHeadPos/1000,1);
    Code in frame 2 (pause) of the volume control movie:
    stop();
    playHeadPos = _root.mysong.position;

    frame 2 only plays once?

    After removing adware, and do a safe boot of Safari and remove extensions, then reset cache history etc. You need to do a boot into Recovery Mode and run Disk Repair from there. Also boot the system in Safe Mode.
    On startup it sounds like you have a problem with the directory which would also account for long startups and checking the directory. Along with or instead of DU Repair Disk you can use Single User Mode and fsck -fy to try to fix the directory but in some cases that may not be enough.
    Backups from before you got this adware and problems helps and should always be ready and able to restore a system from known good backups or system restore image.
    4GB of RAM may have been fine originally but "Early 2011" is now 5 years and 4 OS version changes. You can upgrade the memory and while at it consider a nice SSD internal drive which will help as well.
