Flash stopped working on 10.8

As soon as I DL'd mountain lion, flash stopped working. Every time I DL the new flash player, I can't find it anywhere and no dialogue box pops up. I've made sure everything is "enabled" in privacy settings etc. Please help
Thanks
Peyton

Try using the FlashPlayer uninstaller first. You can find it on Adobe's website. Then install the latest version of FlashPlayer also downloadable from Adobe's website.

  • [solved] Sound in flash stopped working (alsa, x86_64, rate)

    Why?
Sound in flash stopped working (alsa, firefox, x86_64). Tried flashplugin-prerelease from archlinuxfr: nothing different.
Everything worked before I rebooted. I changed nothing else since last reboot.  Can't figure out what happened.
    Updates among other things:
firefox, xulrunner (firefox I did restart - the new one had sound in flash before I rebooted)
openal, lib32openal (don't think that has anything to do with it?)
libsndfile (that's something entirely different, too, right?)
And a lot of others that don't look related... no Idea how many really, I haven't rebooted in quite a while. Maybe there even was a kernel update since last reboot. Or two.
edit: Also some interactive flash stuff that did work before has stopped working now.
edit2: Chromium doesn't have sound in flash either. Tried recompiling firefox / switching to AUR/firefox-pgo: no change. Everywhere else, sound is working fine. Also, several flash games I tried get stuck / freeze after intro.
    Thx!

    Couldn't find any changes there:

I tried the multilib version and the x86_64 prerelease. Both did work perfectly fine before I rebooted (I tried which one works better recently and couldn't see any real difference). Didn't have trouble with flash for months before this reboot.
I found a few modules I was unfamilliar with were loaded:
    snd_seq_os snd_seq_dummy snd_seq_midi_event  snd_seq snd_seq_device
... and removed them with rmmod. No change. (I should have restarted alsa at that point I guess just to make sure, those weren't the problem?)
Then I changed the rate in asound.conf to 41000 and restarted alsa - now everything works again! Strangely, no more freezes too (those were reliable).
I remember having had problems with flash not having sound unless I set the rate to 41000 about a year ago. After some updates, I tried again and all rates supported by my sound-card seemed to work. My guess would be regression in whatever fixed that problem... but I don't know.
I'll leave that "unsolved" until I manage to figure out what it really was about.

  • Flash stopped working in Firefox

    Hi there,
      I have
    - Flash player (11.2.202.235)
    - Firefox (13.0, as of this morning)
    - (64 bit) Windows 7 Professional
Flash no longer works (in IE or Firefox, fine in Chrome) - I don't know if this happened as the result of an update. I have tried uninstalling Flash (and Firefox), deleting the contents of the various Flash-related folders, and re-installing, but to no avail. After installing Flash player again, this page:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=0
briefly shows some Flash once, but if I return to it this no longer works, there's just a blank space that's eventually replaced with a banner ad.
Anyone got any tips as to how to get this running again?
      Thanks,
    Toby

I am still having this issue. Those flash sites mentioned above, I've found that, just as said, one works while the other does not. However, that site that it does work on seems to be the exception, not the rule. It's the only flash I've found that does work.
Also, unlike some of these people, I know EXACTLY when my flash stopped working. I was streaming the DOTA 2 competitions online when the update box came up, encouraging me to update. I put it off for an hour or two, then ran the suggested update, right at the beginning of a match I was very interested in. Well, at the end of the update, Adobe wanted me to reset Firefox, so I did. When I went back to the site, I could no longer stream. I'm fairly computer oriented, growing up in a geek home, so it didn't take me more then 5 minutes to figure out the source of the issue. Upon checking flash on a few other sites, I knew the problem was universal.
I immediately uninstalled 11.3 it and reinstalled the previous version, 11.2.200.235. The flash then worked perfectly again and all was well. This was the 8th I believe.
Well, like an idiot, while doing something else, the update suggestion came up about an hour ago and I allowed it to update. I assumed that this previous issue had been universal, so naturally this was a new update that wouldn't have to problem. Oh, how wrong I was. Exactly the same problem has returned. In an effort to correct the problem, as I did before, I tried to resort to a previous version of flash. However, since a few days have past, I can no longer FIND that version. And I am not a happy camper.
I want to that site, where the one flash works, and disabled the accelloration thing in the settings (it should be noted that, for the before mentioned site where flash won't load, you CAN'T right click to get to settings, because there is just a white, empty screen. Right clicking doesn't do anything). I then looked for anything else that might be a problem (for example, I gave the system unlimited data storage).
Also, I am running Firefox 13, just as I was BEFORE your flash update. It was working just fine. Yes, I am sure of that.
No, I don't have any issues with my physical memory space, I have plenty, so that sure isn't the issue either.
Please, figure out what the heck your update screwed up in Firefox and fix it. In the meantime, please send me a copy of the 11.2.200.235 update, so I can actually function again. I know 11.3 has security hole fixes (yes, I read up on it). Screw the "fixes," I just want to be able to use my internet again! I have things I need to get done. Thank you for your product, we are all very grateful for it. However, it is a major problem for me when it stops working suddenly. In the meantime, I have to use Chrome, which I don't prefer, as all my settings are in Firefox.
Thank you for your time, as well as your quick reply.

  • Flash stops working after 10 - 15 minutes.

    Hi Everyone,
I've been having some weird problems with my new laptop and flash. I am currently running Windows 7 Pro. 32-bit, IE 8, AVG antivirus (with resident shield disabled), Windows Defender. I start my computer and go into IE and everything seems to be working fine. Then, flash player appears to randomly stop working (whether I've been using it or not) after about 15 minutes.
The really weird part is that sites like youtube still work for about another hour, but ALL sites with small, generic flash video (e.g. failblog.org) just say "loading" and leave the video length at 0:00.
I've tried everything I can think of to fix this. I've gone back down from 32-bit, done a clean install of windows with only drivers, gone back to IE from Chrome and I cannot find a solution to this problem. Any help that anyone can provide would be so greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!

    What Flash Player version?
Can you try to change some of the settings at http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager.html, e.g. increase storage settings?

  • HELP! flash stops working when I want to import a sequence of images to stage

Please! I need help asap! I downloaded Flash CS5 and I am using it as a trial and every time I want to import a sequence of images to stage the program stops working and closes without saving. I need to do this projecto for the day after tomorrow and Flash is just not working right. This project is a stop motion animation.
I will deeply appreciate any help, since I just don't know what else to do!
    Laura.

I cannot individually cause it's a stop motion animation...like 200 pictures (this part, the whole of it is like 1000), it would take me a lot of time.  I tried doing it in parts, but when  I get to frame number 100 more or less the program just shuts down...I really really don't know what else to try.

  • Flash stopped working and won't reinstall, same error everytime.

Nothing even changed. Just bam, stopped working. Got it to work once, second time it failed. Uninstalled the program I installed that was "not compatible with this version of windows" cleaned the registry, and restored to an earlier point...
The problem is when I try to reinstall/repair/update the flash player from Adobe it fails every single effin' time D:

You can find the latest Flash player for Firefox on this page.
For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.

  • My flash stopped working

My flash on the camera stopped working after the latest system update. I did a reset and that did not work. Does anyone else have this issue and how can I fix this? I was told by the Apple store that I need a new Ipod to fix this but I don't think after only having this for just over a year that it is now usless.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. done
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    What exactly means "stopped working"?
It had been working on my computer through the different versions of IE for years. I then noticed a few days ago that numerous reliable sites told me to install Flash. I confirmed that it was installed and enabled but all attempts to reinstall resulted in the same condition; Installed under "Programs" ans enabled under "Manage Add-ons". However I still couldn't get it running and Adobe's "Check Now" site showed it NOT installed or enabled. The only thing I can think of that might have had an effect was that I returned to IE10 recently after having some problems with IE11.

  • Lumia 920 Power Button and Flash Stopped Working

The power button and camera flash randomly stopped working on my Lumia 920. The phone itself still works (I can tap to wake it and use it normally) but the power button does nothing when pressed. I tried letting the battery drain completely then let it re-charge overnight to no avail. I also attempted to perform a factory reset but the issue persists. I contacted both AT&T and Nokia Support but they are no help at all.

    hi mate,
sorry to hear that you are still having issues. in this case, there may be some hardware/software damage to your handset, and in this case it is best to contact Nokia Care directly. you can do this by clicking the Nokia Support link at the bottom of this page, or on Twitter via @NokiaHelps.

  • Flash stops working and freezes firefox. I have Fast dial and dont want to lose it so what can I do to fix this?

It doesnt matter what site or what I am doing it will come up randomly and freeze firefox then finally a box pops up and says Flash is busy or not responding continue or stop plugin. Naturally I stop plugin. I always install the latest flash versions I have even uninstall and reinstalled flash and downgraded and still no change or it bugs me to update. I am using firefox 26.0 I usually stay away from the betas if all possible. My biggest worry with using the reset firefox or making a new profile is my fast dial I have tons of sites right there waiting for me to click on and im afraid if I do all this I will lose it. But I have used same profile for years and years so maybe its time. I will just have to redo my fast dial I guess Unless someone can come up with another way to do it. I have disabled hardware acceleration on firefox I have to it makes my browser do some weird things. I also have disabled Hardware acceleration in flash as well. I have cleant temp files and registry. I am good with computers but have never seen issues like this with flash. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.

Sounds like you have done a lot. Have you tried to make a new profile for TESTING purposes only? You could have a bad profile. it is possible.
Also, have you tried protect mode for flash? I wrote up a bat file to set it up so you don't have to go digging through system files.
Also i have some unorthodox methods you will not see in these forums to try out if you are interested as they have resolved several peoples that i can confirm issue. I have been going crash free for over 6 months now since i implemented. Believe me some issues nothing in these forums will resolve. Click on my name on the left there is a blog i created just for this issue with all the info and some of the fixes. Everything is fully automated. Very little user interaction.
This will NOT work for everyone, but you cant hurt by trying

  • I have a Mac OS 10.9.4. After the last OS update on 11.July.2014 Flash stopped working. Why and how can I fix it?

All of a sudden my computer stopped allowing me to watch Youtube videos or anything involving Adobe Flash software. I tried uninstalling Flash and reinstalling it, I've tried changing my cookies... everything that I find on different forums and I still can't get videos to play. On the Flash website it says that the latest flash model, version 14.0.0.145, works with Macs OS 10.6-10.9. Does that mean that flash is incapable of working with a Mac 10.9.4? I can't believe that the mac community stopped watching Youtube after the last update and nothing's been done. Has anyone else experienced this problem and more importantly found a way to fix it?

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Flash stopped working

ok, here is my problem. I have never had a problem from flash
until 2 days ago. I got on the computer when i got home that day
from work and everything was normal. After supper i got back on and
went to americasarmy.com and noticed the screen was cut into boxes
and had little square boxes with red and blue in them, and promted
me to install flash player. So i clicked yes, nothing happened. so
i went to add remove programs and tried to delete it then
re-install the program. after downloading the un-installer, i
removed it. I re-booted and went to the adobe site to dl it again.
I clicked on the "download flash player" and it took me to another
screen that talked about the prompt you may get from the pop-up
blocker and all. Well, i never got that prompt. my internet
activity on my router flashed showing activity and then stopped. I
went back to add/remove and it was there again. So i was like
"great it is fixed"...WRONG! I went back to the AA site and to the
adobe flash player test page and it still doesn't work....any
ideas? Thanks so much for any help[. This one is really making me
    pull my hair out!

sry...yes i am running ie on xp. Well i got the axtive x
prompt fixed but i still cannot get it to work! I go to a website
and it says that i need fp 9 to view, so i click the active x
button, then the install/don't install box pops up i press install,
it pauses for a few seconds and then the install/don't install box
pops up- again!!! I have tried deleting it then going through all
of this and still no fix!! Please help!!!!

  • Flash stop working properly all browser

    Hi Adobe community,
    I'm using
    WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 32BIT
Adobe Flash Player - Version: 17.0.0.134
    Chrome - 41.0.2272.101 m
    Firefox   36.0.4
    Problem:
    1. Flash videos are not working stuck on buffering, including embedded or non embedded flash players, but only youtube & facebook video is working, except dailymotion, metacafe, and all video sharing website.
List of solutions that i have already tried
    1. uninstalling and reinstalling of Flash
2.clear cache and history also cookie
    3. uninstalling and then reinstalling of all the browsers
    4. scaned with antiviruses and CCleaner.
    5. disabeling all the extensions in chrome like adblocker and downloaders
    6. disable hardware accelration
EXCEPT WINDOWS XP Is WORKING WELL
    please help me !!

Disabling hardware acceleration isn't going to help performance.  If it didn't make a difference in the symptoms, turn it back on.
The "buffering the whole video before it plays" symptoms are usually related to anti-virus or software firewall products.  Frequently you'll have to uninstall them to see a difference in behavior.  It would be interesting to know what you're using, and if that makes a difference.  If it doesn't, definitely reinstall it.  If the problem goes away, you may want to investigate competing products and/or talk to the vendor about the issue.

  • Flash Stopped working with last update

After my last -Syu flash isn't working in firefox and any site that requires it takes about 10 seconds longer to load. • My Sisters PC "Adobe Flash" stops working every few weeks

I handle support for my 54 year old sister and the "Adobe Flash" add-on is driving me crazy. Every few weeks she gets "Flash out of date" or similar message on top of the videos at Amazon and various other sites. It prompts her to take action with downloads and such which I tell her never to do on any site. It won't play the videos so she calls me to complain.
We have identically configured PC's and I don't run into this issue (Windows 7-64, current Firefox, etc.) on my PC. The only difference is that I have my Flash set to "Notify me of updates" and hers set to "Do not notify of updates". For security purposes I don't want her downloading and applying any updates for any applications - I do them for her.
For instance, I updated her Flash on 1-22-2015. In early February she started getting the video error messages again. When this happens I notice inside Firefox the Flash add-on has been mysteriously changed to "Ask to Activate". The other drop-down options like "Always Active" are grayed out. I have to uninstall Flash and reinstall the current version, which fixes the problem for a few weeks. Sometimes it takes me a few days before I can get over to her house so she looses abilities to watch news videos and gets pretty pissed.
I read someplace in the forum that Firefox disables Flash because it is out of date. However, I never run into this problem. Although I get "Flash Update" notifications on my PC I rarely update it immediately and never experience the same problems she has. In fact, it's probably been a few years since I haven't been able to play a Flash video. This great experience is why I switched her to using Firefox in early 2014. But Flash has been a awesome pain for her ever since.
Some sites she visits entice the visitor to download an update to get the video to play. They often install nasty toolbars and other crap, which creates a lot of work for me to clean up. This is why she is under strict rules to never download anything related to an application. I guess I can try setting Flash to "Update Automatically" and see if that works for her.

Click to Activate shouldn't cause all of that when the users are "dealing from a full deck".
