Flash stopping Captivate project form running

Hi
I have developed an e-learning using Captivate 2 for a large
organisation. All works fine when tested, the only problem is if
users don't have Flash player installed and they try to run the
e-learning training they get to be prompted to install Flash
player, but then the training only opens on the score sheet and
doesn't allow them to do the quiz. Has anyone came across similar
problem, and ideas on what is happening and how to go about it.
Thanks in anticipation

Hello,
The security settings should be fine, I will double check.
The weird thing is that some animations work fine but some don't. One thing I noticed, not sure if it matters, is that the working animation is visible in the slide in Captivate and the not working ones aren't. See pics below.
Working animation:
Not working animation (it just says animation, but can't see it as in the pic above. The animation looks about the same):
Kind regards,
Patrik

  • Captivate project not running properly on iPad

    Hello,
I built a project using Captivate 7.0.  When I published the project, I checked both the SWF and HTML5 boxes so the tutorial would run on an iPad.  However, when I view the tutorial on the iPad, the tutorial does not run properly.  The pages do not advance (even though, in Captivate, I have the slides advancing automatically - not on mouse clicks), all of the bullets on a slide do not appear, and the narration stops in the middle of a slide and does not resume.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Sarah

    Hi Joel,
I removed all bullet animations and re-published the project (I checked the "Force re-publish all the slides").  My tutorial runs on an iPad, without the slides hanging up.  It appears removing the bullet annimations solved that issue.  Thanks for the suggestion.
However, neither my music introduction on the first slide nor my narration on subsequent slides comes in.  I confirmed I do not have "mute" on and that my volume is up.  Also, I confirmed the sound works by running the tutorial on my desktop.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

  • How do I stop Captivate adding in text/highlight boxes when I film a project?

    Morning/Afternoon,
Whenever I film a new project Captivate 4 always adds in additional text boxes with "Click OK button" and "Opens Parameter Window" and also adds in it's own highlight boxes.  How do I turn this off?  It's not that much of a problem as I have to go in and edit every screen anyway but I was wondering if there was a way to stop them appearing in the first place.
Thank you very much for your help,
    Michelle

    Hi there
You do this by changing the Recording preferences.
Click Edit > Preferences... > Recording > Modes and choose one of the modes. Demonstration seems a likely choice.
Select or clear the desired options.
Click the image below for full size view.

  • Making Captivate accessible when running in a Flash movie?

    Hi all,
I need to run a Captivate movie in a Flash shell.  The Captivate movie, when run on its own, is highly accessible: the tab index finds all items on a slide, for instance.  However, when I load the Captivate movie into a Flash shell, the tabIndexing completely ignores the Captivate movie.  I've set the movie clip that holds the Captivate movie to tabChildren=true, that doesn't do the trick.
Does anyone know how to get the focus manager to jump to elements in a Captivate movie when that movie is running in a Flash shell?  Thanks in advance!
    Joe

    one more question:
when i render my movie out (its an irregular size) i now have two black bars on the right and left. i assume this is because i changes the pixel size to square. is there anyway to get rid of the bars or was this a snafu from the begining because i didnt have it set to squares?

  • Captivate Project Information window on Flash player

I published a Captivate Project as an executable file for
Macintosh. When I click on the SWF file, it opens up in the Flash
player, and not in my browser. Also, the Project Information window
does not go away, even when I click on the close button. Some of
the buttons on the navigation bar don't work either, like Exit and
Forward. Has anyone come across this problem?

The purpose of beta software is to find potential problems.  You have just found one, and you should report it back to the beta team.
If you think it is a Flash Player bug, report it at https://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If Flash Player works fine on the release version of Firefox, then I suggest that you reinstall that version.

  • Flash Video Not Playing in Captivate Project

I've put in a flv video at the beginning of a Captivate Project. When I press F4 from within the project, it works fine - flash video slide works, transitions into Captivate build, etc.  However, when I publish the file as a Flash Project and then try and open the HTML link from within the published folder, I am told that there is a Connection Error.  The project proceeds, progresses until the Captivate portion of the project comes up and works fine from there.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you copied the FLV file into the same folder as the published SWF?  Captivate doesn't do this automatically for you.

  • How to deal with .csproj.user being created/modified by Visual Studio before the project is run?

    So, what is the problem?
The problem is that Visual Studio considers .csproj.user a dependency of the project being run.
    Let us assume the following:
     - We have a freshly built solution containing a web application project `X` as the Start Up project.
     - There are Silverlight applications served by the X web application.
     - There is no `X.csproj.user` file initially.
Now consider the following flow of events:
     1. Open the solution in the Visual Studio
     2. Build.
     3. Run.
     4. A dialog is open to ask whether Silverlight debugging is to be enabled. Enable it.
     5. Stop the debugging session.
     6. Run again.
     7. Stop the debugging session.
     8. Run again.
Assuming nothing is built at step 2 (because the solution is totally up to date), will there anything be built at steps 3 and 6?
The answer is affirmative and here is why:
     - The X.csproj.user file is actually created by Visual Studio when the project is requested to run. What happens next is that the
X.csproj.user file is considered a dependency of the project
X by the Visual Studio. Being created just now the file is newer than the project binaries and so Visual Studio builds the project
    X. This explains why the project is built at step 3.
     - When we agree to enable Silverlight debugging Visual Studio records this agreement in the
X.csproj.user file. So the file is modified again, after the project has started running. Restarting the debugging session is going to build the project
X yet again, after all X.csproj.user is again newer than the binaries built a second ago. This explains why the project is built at step 6.
Fortunately, nothing is built at step 8.
Call me petty, but I want to avoid the builds at steps 3 and 6. The problem is that I am not allowed to check in the X.csproj.user file, because that is likely to create a mess with people accidentally checking in their private changes.
On the other hand, I am unable to move its default content (along with the agreement to enable Silverlight debugging) into the project file
X.csproj. Well, I can, but it is just being ignored.
So, here is my question - is it possible to separate the content stored in a
    .csproj.user into two groups:
     - Permanent. These are the things I would love to have in the .csproj file. It will be checked in.
     - Temporary/Private. These are the things private to individual developers. Never checked in.
Visual Studio already allows this separation for certain properties - see the
Apply server settings to all users (store in project file) checkbox in the Web properties tab of a Web application project - http://olalalittlen.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/vs-tips-managing-server-settings-in-web-projects-for-multi-developer-scenarios/.
    However, it is insufficient.
Any other ideas on how to prevent the aforementioned redundant builds are welcome too.

    Hi Mark,
I think your issue is more about project itself. the saved information in the .csproj.user settings is about the project's information.
So I suggest you post your issue to the related project forum.

  • Issues adding swfs created in Flex to a Captivate project

The company I work with, ePath Learning Inc. has an online authoring tool called eActivity that we use to publish different eLearning templates. This online tool is built completely in Flex and uses the Flex compiler to ouput a swf file that can be used in many different products and online courses. Because it's an AS3/Flex created swf, we've had to wait for Captivate 4 to be released to support the generated swf file, so now we are testing it's compatibility and have run into some issues. It appears that swf files from our online authoring tool do not work correctly in Captivate. Further testing resulted in any swf published using Flex do not work properly in Captivate. Attempts at adding a swf file complied with Flex result in a variety of different errors as well as a performance issue causing the control bar as well as all other aspects of the Captivate project to work incorrectly.
I've attached 2 sample swf files, 1 built using our online authoring tool and 1 using Flex Builder 3. When added to a new blank project in Captivate 4 using AS3 settings we have the errors as explained above.

    Hi there
I just uploaded a small video to Jing. See if it helps you resolve the issue.

  • Stop Captivate from Resaving mp3 to wav

How do I stop this? This is a huge flaw on the part of captivate. When I import an audio mp3 clip on a feedback caption it 90% of the time saves as a wav file and quadruples the size!
Wav Audio is very large and makes my projects much larger than they need to be.

    Hello again
Trust me. Adobe *IS* paying tons of attention to it.
The main way that changes get made is by enough users such as yourself report back to them their likes and dislikes. This is done using the Wish Form/Bug Reporting Form (same page is used for both purposes). So please consider filing a Wish Form to report your disdain for the behavior. (Link is in my sig) Each of these that gets submitted actually ends up in front of the development team.

  • Track completion of embedded swf within captivate project

I have a swf created within captivate 4 which is a traiining simulation.  Now I want to embed this simulation on a screen within a new host captivate project and enable the next progress button only when the embedded training simulation is done. What is a good way to do this?
While trying different options, a problem I am running into is the embedded training simulation does not close when all the interactivity is done even if the swf publish options are set to close upon completion.  It wants to run for a set time. Any ideas are much appreciated.

    Hi Gaspar,
Are you using a preloader for the project? If so, the default
one in Captivate waits for 60% of the project to load before
playing. Perhaps try to add the preloader if you aren't using one,
or remove it if you are to see if that makes a difference. In
Captivate 3, you can change this option in Preferences -->
Project --> Start and End --> Loading Screen.
    Good luck,
    David
Edit: I just tried this too and got the same results when
publishing with all versions of Flash - I was a little surprised to
see it even with Flash 7 exports, because Captivate has let me
embed .swf animations into a single .swf project file using Flash
    7. I'm guessing that whatever Flash "engine" Captivate uses to
create its own FMV .swfs must be Flash 8 or 9. That would be
something that would be nice to adjust - especially because of the
lack of the ability to merge .swf files into one file. I guess I'll
    send a feature request again...

  • Flash CS3, Captivate 4 Single File SWF output- playback problems

    Hello,
I am trying to upload a swf file that I created to a website.  I am doing this because that it the only format the site editor will allow me to do.
I tried following the steps in the tutorial on how to embed a swf into a pdf. (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/movieclip_to_pdf.html)
-The File started as a flv, I opened that it Flash Pro CS3, then exported the file to a SWF (Actionscript3).
-I then created a new Captivate project, and inserted a "Animation" to put in the SWF video.
(I did this because when I tried inserting the flv it only showed it as 3 seconds, when the video is                                     about 40, and it had no audio)
-I chose the option to not show the borders, but show the player skin (Play, pause, etc.) in Captivate.
-I then exported it to a SWF file (It also created the html, etc.)
There was a standalone SWF file created, that when I played with Flash Player, played not a problem, all of the player controls on the skin worked just fine.
However, when I uploaded the swf to the site, only the player conrols showed, and when I tried clicking on the buttons, nothing happened.   When I clicked on the slider,  it just showed where the video was supposed to be "2/1"
Any help would be appreciated a lot, as I am not a flash or captivate expert.  (I just started using a couple of days ago)
    Thank you,
    Chev

    Hi there
    That's sure a convoluted approach!

Uhhh, if you want the SWF on the web site, why are you following information for inserting SWF into PDF?
-The File started as a flv, I opened that it Flash Pro CS3, then exported the file to a SWF (Actionscript3).

What you don't realize is that if you insert a 40 second video into a 3 second slide, there is no need to adjust the slide play time. There is an option that is automatically set that keeps the slide from moving on until the video completes playing.
-I then exported it to a SWF file (It also created the html, etc.)
That's normal Captivate behavior. You get a few different files. The intent is to upload them all and point the user to the HTML file. It then loads and plays the SWF.

    Chev
When you insert FLV you also have to upload the FLV. Captivate plays it by referencing it externally. It is not embedded into the SWF and remains as a separate file to deal with.

  • Hyperlinks in Captivate Project

I have created a course within Captivate and on the very last slide I have referenced 3 hyperlinks that are useful to the end user.
I have written the URL's using a caption and then used a transparent button over the top of the URL that is setup so if the user clicks on the transparent button they are directed to the URL in a new window.
What I would like is for the last slide to stay exactly as it is, so having the 3 hyperlinks available to the user. But whenever a user clicks on one of the hyperlinks the slide continues and the text disappears, I do have the end course setting as stop project.
What is the best way to make a slide stop and not do anything using a transparent button only seems to work once, after a user clicks on one of the transparent buttons that is hyperlinked the course moves on.
    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Flash in Captivate (code to change slides?)

    Good Morning Captivate Users!
I was actually inquiring if there was a way to put in a command where when I press an existing flash project in captivate it will alter to the next slide.   I have tried putting in a click button but when I do, it will not allow the flash to move when hovering over the actual item. (Example: the Flash buttons are designed to 'glow' when you over them, but if I put a click vox in front of it, it will not glow, the click box will be dominant over it.)  I was wondering if either there is code I could put into the flash project for it to change slides or if there is something in captivate that I am not thinking of, maybe something I can do with the click box to make it work without me inputting all this code.
I am currently using Captivate 4.
Thank you for your help in advance!

    Hi there
If you want a button to appear to glow when you mouse over it, you can easily accomplish that using image buttons. You just use an image without the glow as the base, then a second image with the glow as the mouseover.
Other than that, perhaps one of our resident Flashy type folks can advise on what voodoo incantation you might use to coax Flash to behave for you in Captivate.

  • Integrating Flash With Captivate 4

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have searched the net and these forums but I can't seem to find any answers to my problems. I am attempting to create a quiz in Flash and put it into Captivate, (using the course builder section, I have the e-learning package). I can do this but the quiz just seems to play through and not stop. Does anyone know how to do this correctly? Is there anything I should add into the scripting? And should this be done in Flash or Captivate? Would greatly appreciate any help.
Also is Flash the best way to try to modify or enhance Captivate? The person I'm creating this for wants something like a Raptivity Quiz in a Captivate program. So far I seem unable to create anything in Flash that will work correctly in Captivate. Again I'd be greatful if anyone could shed any light.

    Hi there
Sure, lots of folks here create Flash Widgets and Gizmos and use them with Captivate. So it does actually work. Likely you just need to figure out the relationship. (I'm not a Flash savvy person, so I don't mix the two)
Question here though. Captivate has its own quizzing built into the product. Why Flash? Does it do quizzing better? Or was this just someone's requirement without having any knowledge Captivate does quizzing?

  • Captivate project always crashes!

I'm hoping someone can help me.
Over and over again, a saved project (Captivate 4 of about 730M ) that I have been working on will no longer open.  When I attempt to open the project up, the program will just think..and think and think...until finally the program will not respond.
In one case, the project just blew up, and there was no record of it EVER being on my computer.  I have had to redo several projects (all using quiz slides).  Sometimes succesfully, sometimes running into the same error.  I defragmented the computer to make sure the file is grouped together because it is a rather large file, but it doesn't help.
I've even moved the file to a newly configured computer, and that doesn't help either.  In my most recent case, I finally got it to open on the new computer, but it still took about 5-10 minutes to open.   I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this.
I am hesitant to begin the project again, because it's a crap shoot as to whether or not the same thing will happen half-way through.  I don't know if the files keep becoming corrupted, if it is my PC, or the software.
Any help, or similar experiences are appreciated!

    Hi Thomas
You probably don't realize it but I think you may have provided your own answer.
    Tomas GMC wrote:
    Hi,
We had a similar problem with one of the bigger projects...
Project size can be a factor in corruption. Basically, the larger the project grows (both from the overall number of slides aspect and the pixel dimensions) the more likely it becomes to suffer some form of corruption. It all boils down to PC resources.
