Flash to Illustrator CC conversion... possible?

I've spent years drawing vector art in Flash, and recently decided to move to Illustrator (becasue that's really what I should have been using all along).
The trouble is, Flash art is strangly difficult to import into Illustrator. As recently as CS6, the easiest way that I found was to open the FLA in Flash, export it as an FXG, open the FXG in Illustrator, and save it as an AI.
Now in Illustrator CC, when you try to open an FXG, you get the raw XML, and not the image. So that puts a damper on this whole process.
Does anyone have any solution that I'm overlooking?

I'm surprised Sudeshna Sarkar hasn't replied yet.
Adobe claims FXG isn't compatibile with 64-bit. Seeing as Adobe did away with supporting 32-bit....
Adobe claims "We will have vector export from Flash as one of the features for our next major update." This same line has been repeated over and over again...for the last 9 months at least!! Do a search for others running into the same difficulty.
Then, they recommend installing a third-party code to export as an SVG. Even if you feel brave enough to put on your programmer pants on to install the code, it only has been confirmed to work in some instances where the vector is simple.
I'm feeling your pain.
Best Wishes!

  • Problems doing copy/paste from Flash to Illustrator

This is a problem I've had since Flash 8: when doing a
copy/paste from Flash to Illustrator (on Windows), there's extreme
degradation of the artwork, sometimes to the extent that no actual
art is even copied. All the curves seem to be approximated with
straight line segments, but at some point it just seems to give up
even trying, leaving an unidentifiable blob for most of the object.
As I said, sometimes it doesn't even copy anything at all -- all
that shows up after pasting into Illustrator is an empty group.
The weird thing is that this process worked fine in Flash MX
2004. What could possibly have changed? I was sure with CS3 it
would be fixed, but it wasn't. I haven't tried Illustrator CS4 yet,
but copying from Flash CS4 to Illustrator CS3 produces the same
    problem.
I've seen a few other reports of this problem in other
forums, but I've encountered it on every install of Flash and
Illustrator I've tried (admittedly, all Windows machines, but three
or four different ones, both XP or Vista). Can anyone here confirm
that this problem exists or doesn't exist on their computer? To
test it, create a piece of art with plenty of curves and several
colors in Flash, then copy and paste it into an illustrator
    document.
If this problem is as widespread as my experience seems to
indicate it is, why hasn't it been fixed in two major revisions of
the software? Is Adobe even aware of it? If not, how can I let them
know? I'm getting majorly sick of having to deal with it.
Illustrator used to be a much larger part of my animation process,
but now I can't use it how I really want to because of the bad copy
    and paste functionality.

    Hi,
The integration between Flash CS3 and Illustrator means you
can copy objects from Illustrator to Flash and i think if you copy
from Flash to illustrator or Photoshop, you would not get a good
    results.
You can solve your problem by exporting your Flash work as
    .AI.
Your idea about the ability to copy from Flash to Illustrator
is a good idea although Illustrator can not read some of the Flash
imported information correctly. But it is still a good enahcement
idea. There is a link where you can add suggestions but I do not
remember it and I am replying using mobile, so my browsing
    capabilities is limited.
I will try to post the link here when I got to my back normal
    connection
    Thanks alot!!

  • Copy and paste text and graphics between Flash and Illustrator

When copying text in Illustrator and pasting them to Flash, some text would become drawing objects and some remain text. A drawing object is not editable. If I import the AI file, then text remains text but the placement of graphics can be a little bit off sometimes.
It's just not possible to copy-and-paste text and graphics from Flash to Illustrator.
Is it just me? If not, when will Adobe have better integration between the 2?
    Thanks,

Even though you can change your InDesign preferences for Clipboard Handling to allow formatted information to be pasted into InDesign from other programs, unfortunately Illustrator still won't allow you paste in text with formatting. This is due to how Illustrator and InDesign handle text differently. Even if you copy the text from Illustrator and paste it into a program like Word, which has a lot of different ways to handle formatted text, Illustrator just treats text differently than other Adobe applications.

  • Flash to Illustrator - colors change!

Flash CS3: I export an image in Flash as Illustrator file (6 or 88).
When I open such an AI file in Illustrator CS3, it keeps the shapes and layers from Flash, but turns out to have lost the brillant RGB colors and shows very "greyish" CMYK colors!
I can't find any settings in Flash or Illustrator to avoid this conversion of colors. Illustrator doesn't ask me if I want to open the file with RGB or CMYK colors.
Can someone tell me what to to in order to keep the original Flash RGB colors when exporting a frame as Illustrator file?
    Thanks in advance!

Well… AI won't place .swf or .fla. Export from Flash (CS4) to .ai format & it opens fine in AI except you get the horrible color shifts. Strangely these files won't place in AI, at last for me—I get an error even though other .ai files place just fine.
I have what I consider good & sufficient reasons to want to do certain illustrations in Flash, but then I also need to use them as separate files…
Interestingly, the color shift appears to happen when exporting from Flash, not on opening in AI. At least if you do this the shift still happens… Export from Flash in .ai format. Place the resulting file in an RGB InDesign document & the colors are, well, sad…
I could totally understand this right after Adobe bought Macromedia… but it's been long enough that it really seems these sorts of interaction glitches should be worked out… hey it's been a year since the first post on the topic.
I did find a sorta kludge that at least doesn't change the colors & let's ya place the file in InDesign, but not edit the vectors: Save from Flash as a .pdf—I use print to PDF. Unfortunately it saves the Flash stage along with the artwork so your lose all transparency in a paper sized area (depending on your print paper settings).
The other option I've used, if you have CS4 at least, is to use AI's Color Guide > Edit Colors to adjust the colors. It's easier than doing them all individually at least. For me I find working with the colors in LAB is easiest if you don't need exact matches with Flash (just something that looks decent)—it let's you resaturate & adjust brightness easiest without changing the base color.
If anyone has a solution, please please post… and many thanks in advance.

  • WIll photoshop, flash and illustrator run OK on Intel?

WIll photoshop flash and illustrator run OK?
    G4 Dual 1.25   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Will they run OK? Yes. They will not however run at their full potential, as Rosetta translation causes a 10-15% performance hit. Universal binaries are schedule for release in the next quarter, however. Having said that, the extra performance of the Intel iMacs make up for it. This shows that Final Cut Pro, running via Rosetta, is still 50% faster on the Intel iMac than on a G5 iMac.
Therefore, even at present applications will run faster on the new machine.

  • I want to burn a iTunes on my flash drive. Is it possible?

I want to burn a song from my itunes onto my flash drive. Is it possible?

By the way, the technical term is "copy", not "burn".  Burning involves using a laser to induce a chemical change on an optical disc such as a DVD or CD.

  • Export Flash 8 file - strange conversion behaviour. Please Help.

    Equipment:
I have CreativeSuite CS2 and Macromedia Studio 8 loaded on Tiger 10.4.11 on two computers; an iMac Intel Core Duo 2.8GHz which is the main tool, and an upgraded G4 450 DP which uses a Dual G4 Sonnet Encore 1.8Ghz (7447A chips) as back-up. Both computers have use Tiger 10.4.11 OS.
    Problem 1:
A .swf Flash file is exported and saved on the iMac without any problems. However when the same file is transferred to the G4 as back-up, the file undergoes a change wherebye the icon looks like a 35mm filmstrip and sports the Illustrator CS2 yellow flower. Double clicking the .swf file opens Illustrator CS2 which, unsurprisingly, tells me it cannot open the unknown file type (.swf). Flash 9 Reader is loaded as is Flash 8 application. Flash fails to open the converted file on the G4!
    Problem 2:
As a work-around, I open the movie artwork file on the iMac, export the movie as a QuickTime.mov. A dialogue box opens telling me the installed version of QuickTime does not support the installed version of Flash and I should open Publish Settings in Flash and save as Flash 5 file. I do this. I export the file and again am presented with the same message! Every Quick Time export attempt has failed either on the Intel Core Duo or on the G4.
    Two Questions:
    1. Why is the original .swf filed changed to an illustrator file on the G4 and how can I retain it as the Flash file?
    2. What is the problem that prevents ProQuickTime version 7.6.4 (518.35), recognising the Flash 5 export conversion process?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Praise be to Lord above! I have fixed it! And because I'm a nice guy and wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same frustration - I'm going to tell you how...
It was a problem with the registry that was causing the issue and funny old thing - uniblue's 'Registry Booster' solved the issue. It's ironic that software from the same company was used to solve the problem I know...I had almost decided to uninstall all uniblue products, but decided to run one last scan with registry booster to see what happened....So just to sum up, this is how to solve the above issue:
    1. Re-create/rebuild your library as detailed in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451 or replace itunes folder with backup. Delete any corrupted/damaged files.
This alone should solve many issues but if you keep getting repeated corruption problems like I did then the problem seems to be within the REGISTRY.
    2. To solve the registry error - I ran uniblue's 'Registry Booster' programme. I have no idea how to fix the registry manually. Sorry.

  • Question - Importing Flash Project into After Effects, Possible?

    Hi,
Is there a way to open a Flash file (FLA) in After Effect?, cause I saw you can open an AEP that was converted to XFL in Flash... I want to be able to open my Flash project in After Effects, same way I can import a PSD as a composition, is there a way to do that?

No, not possible. The principles are too different and it would require too many resources just to develop a conversion method. If you look closely, you will notice that even XFL is somewhat limited because of that. You can, however, still import SWF files once you are done with your work in Flash or render an image sequence from there.

  • Flash and illustrator

Is it possible to create a single jsfl extension in flash that exports a frame as .eps, runs illustrator to open this file and runs the blend command , then export the file as swf , and possibly importing this file back to your .fla file?

  • Flash to Illustrator

I've traced over an image in Flash using the Pen Tool and
    want to open it in
Illustrator - any way to do this whilst keeping the vector

Thanks, I'll try the 'convert lines to fills' and see if that
    makes any

  • Flash and quicktime export not possible at all!

    hi iwork dev team!
as there was no result on my prev post, here again:
    i use keynote'08 4.02 on imac with 2gb and osx 10.5.2.
i created a presentation with 15 slides and over all 16,5 minutes.
each slide has a mp3 sound file attached (the speakers voice recorded externally).
now i am facing following problems on *export to flash* (export is around 18mb):
    1) synchronization of voice and effects is different than inside keynote - i fixed this by changing times and export/test cycles, as long until i run sync in swf (please make it sync - this is terrible).
    2) starting with slide 13 some objects do not appear - in further slides many objects do not appear. the sound and time is ok, but not much to see. if i split the presentation into 2 parts, the export works fine, all objects appear in all slides, but i found no way to combine those 2 swf files....
    3) in one slide i found out that the order of appearing/disappearing objects confuses the swf export, so that many objects afterwards are not at all shown.... i played around long and splitted the slide in 2 slides and with some workarounds i got it show all objects.
    4) it would be great if at least some transitions and most effects would be supported and times of effects would be the same inside keynote and in exported swf.
    *exporting to quicktime*:
    1) first i had one large mp3 for the whole presentation and added it as soundtrack and synced it inside keynote. exporting this to quicktime made it run async. but at least export was possible for the full presentation.
    2) i splitted the mp3 for each slide and added each mp3 to each corresponding slide. this way i made it possible to export to swf (see above). but quicktime export now has no sound and slide shows up nearly endless.... qt export is impossible.
    what can i do?
at least it would help me if i can export ONE swf file.
best would be if it has same sync inside keynote and in swf - but i can live for now with swf export optimized sync that doesnt work inside keynote. but it should be fixed at least in the future....

I'm currently having a similar problem, where the Flash exported by Keynote seems to randomly miss some objects on the page that appear after a click or a delay. In fact, in one case, I had embedded a EPS file in the slide, and some parts of the embedded file were exported to Flash but not others. I'm using Keynote 3.0.2, so I'm sorry to hear that Keynote '08 still has this bug which makes Flash export pretty awful to deal with.

    Hi there,
I have a series of character designs in Flash built in different symbols, eyes, head, etc. I need to export them to illustrator keeping them vector but when I use the FXG export the file fxg doesn't appear to 'remember' what frame the symbols were referencing and so the image isn't correct...

  • LED flash replacement. Is it possible?

    Hi.
Does anyone know is it possible to replace only LED flash but not the whole camera module in case of faulty flash?
I've tried to search for different repair parts for iPhone 4 and found nothing about separate part for LED flash.
    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, the camera & LED are one part:
