Flash to Quicktime MySpace upload problem

Here's the situation:
I have an animation in Flash, that I've successfully exported to a Quicktime .mov file, for posting onto a MySpace page.
Every time I attempt to upload the video, MySpace tells me the video is "processing" for a number of hours - and then, eventually, "processing failed".
I've tried converting the .mov file to .avi and a couple other formats that MySpace also accepts, but the results of the conversion were not satisfactory.
Any idea what would cause the processing to fail? Would uploading the same file from a PC have a chance of working? Help is appreciated - thank you.

Then that is the source of your "troubles" and it will take some more work on your part to get the export to work.
If your Flash file (.swf) doesn't include audio you need only export it to any acceptable file extension used at the hosting site.
That part is easy.
But, if your Flash file uses audio (or any sprite action) you'll need to convert it to other formats.
Exporting Flash will render your file as "video". You may need to adjust it (video track) to remove the sprites (mouse actions).
Then use some third party software (I use WireTap from Ambrosia) to "record" your audio portion and QuickTime Pro to "add" it back into your file.
Too complicated for most users.
But you'll understand if you're a "Pro" user.

  • Flash/Java/Quicktime?/Safari Problem

Alright, I have this pretty large problem in my case.
I just updated to QT 7.3 and iTunes 7.5, restarted my computer because of the update.
& went on normally, then when trying to load a site like youtube.com (with its flash videos and other things)
Nothing shows up for things swf/flash/java based.
I then restarted my computer again, but the same problem occurs.
I have repaired disk permissions, but that didnt do anything.
I reinstalled flash and java. and 'Reset' Safari.
So what am I suppose to do now?

I'm having a similar problem ever since I did the 10.4.11 update. If I use the computer after having been in sleep mode all flash content comes up with a quicktime symbol and a question in front of it when using safari 3.0.4 and in firefox nothing comes up. The first time it did this a dialog box popped up and asked if I would like to enable quicktime to play flash. Enabling or disabling doesn't seem to affect the problem, however if I restart the computer everything is fine. I would prefer to be able to put the darn thing to sleep instead of having to restart every time i want to get online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • My music flash player on myspace is messed up

I am a musician and I have a myspace band page. My music
flash player on myspace only shows 3 songs when I have four
uploaded. It also only shows three songs when I go to hear music on
someone else's page. However, when my friend views my page from
here computer (or someone else's) it shows 4 songs. So it has
something to do with my player, I think, because other peoples
players show 4 songs. What could be causing this and how can I fix
    this?

If lint is the problem, take a clean dry toothbrush and carefully clean the iPhone charging port.

  • Flash animation for Myspace

Not sure if this is the right section of the right forum.
I have created a flash that works fine as a flash. But will not export as an animated jif and upload animated. I'm not sure whats going on. I have tried everything I know.
Exported as flash uploaded to photobucket, downloaded and saved. uploaded to myspace. Nothing.
Exported as animated jif, uploaded to myspace - no animation no pictures.
Exported as animated if, uploaded to photobucket, downloaded, saved. Uploaded to myspace - no animation.
Exported as jif sequence, uploaded to photoshop - Stuck - Can not combine layers to create animation.
Exported as quicktime, myspace won't allow up load.
Shortened flash, exported, uploaded, ends up distorted and out of whack. Changed colors to 32. Exported still distorted and magenta seems a fine mix in the colors as well.
Any help is appreciated. I'm really frustrated with this program. More often than not, it will animate on my computer but will not animate on myspace. Any ideas???
    Thanks!

Hi Walter, i got acceptable result, though I am not sure what are the broadcaster's expectations, they have asked for foll. formats
    H.264 (our preferred format)

  • In need of a flash/html5/quicktime audio/video media player for a website

    Hello everybody,
I'm looking to get some kind of audio/video media player for a website. I would like it to be customizable, and also most likely read a play list from some kind of text file or xml file.
Normally, I would look for some kind of flash media player, but recently the site might be read from Apple mobile devices also, which of course not flash which might be a problem, so I'm also looking into other options such as some kind of QuickTime media player web application or even html5 player.
I do not personally know how to code in flash or HTML 5, so I would be willing to hire someone to help out.
Is HTML 5 for long enough that it would play on most current browsers? I would imagine that HTML 5 might not work on older browsers–is this correct?
I don't know of any QuickTime media players - any links to get me started?
Does anyone know some solutions to this flash / apple issue?

Looks like you are getting a very good lesson in why Flash is the best choice for a Web media player.... plentilful, easily customizable, and is a "right now" solution. Good luck on getting your viewers to download and install the codex need to play an Ogg video!
To add the extra accessabilty for the iPhone etc, use swfobject to provide an alternative video file type... the .mov
Here is an example of a Flash video that plays on the iPhone (well sort of..):
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/qt/play_qt.html
Using swfobject for Flash detection, if the Web browser has the Flash plugin, the Flash .flv video is displayed, if not, the QT, .mov version is displayed.
View the source code for more exact details.
If the Web browser does not have the Flash plugin, alternate content is displayed, which in this case happens to be a QT player, which displays a .mov video. In this case it's just a single video. Now maybe you have a QT player with playlist... but let me tell you.. they are a lot rarer than Flash media players with playlists, xml playlist, etc.... Strong case for Flash here..
But your alt content could just as easily hold a QT media player (with playlist) if such an animal exists.
    Info on swfobject:

  • Why won't Quicktime movie upload to YouTube?

I made a Flip-4-Mac video using handheld Flip video device....then uploaded to my iMac as an .avi file.  Decided to upload to YouTube but file was nearly 30 minutes long....  so then used the QuickTime Player 10.0 (133)  'trim' feature to divide video into 3 (not quite equal) parts.  This left me with 3 separate videos labeled Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.  They are .mov files.
Using QuickTime's 'Upload to YouTube' option, I began upload of Part 1. During upload, a message appeared saying audio might not be in sync, and then I got an error message saying upload couldn't be completed.
Anyone have any ideas?   Is the VeeScope Converter an option?
    -R

Thanks, but the instructions within those links are too over the top for me.  Will have to find a techie to help sort it out.  Appreciate the links and will print out the info.
Then switch your editing work flow to one that forces recompression of your files for sharing to YouTube. The fact that your current work flow goes from AVI to MOV file containers implies you could be using a "Save as..." operation rather than an H.264/AAC conversion. This means your MOV file main still contain whatever audio and video codecs were used to create the original AVI file. Since you did not tell us what compression formats are involved here, provide a specific work flow, indicate the duration or target display involved, all we can do is make guesses at what problems you may be experiencing and their possible solutions. If you do not understand the instructions as provided by YouTube for optimal uploads, the use an editing app that also shares your edited files directly to YouTube as such apps should export the edited content using compression formats currently compatible with the YouTube web site software.

  • Exporting Flash to quicktime error

I am trying to export Flash to Quicktime and recieve the
    following message -
"the installed version of quicktime does not support this
type of macromedia Flash movie. Quicktime requires Flash 5 or
    before?"
I reset the settings to Flash 5 - but still comes up with the
error message. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks Jodi

I'm having the same problem. Every website I find on the
topic simply says to change the publish settings to Flash 5 - but
it's still not working. Anyone have insight? I even uninstalled my
previous version of QuickTime and re-installed the most current
    (7.4.5) - no luck.

  • Flash now working on upload.

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my flash player showing in my page
when I upload it to the server. I am using the component Slide Show
Pro w/thumbnails which requires Flash Player 9 and Actionscript 3.
I thought originally that was the problem but I had already built
one other site that I used this for and had no problem. The only
thing that I could think of is that the header on the page is Flash
and only requires Flash 8 and Action Script 2 and is running off of
a different javascript file and maybe the two were conflicting...is
    this possible?
I have seperated the Javascript files into two seperate
folders and my paths are correct. The header works fine but its
like the flash player isnt even there...I even took the Header out
and just tried the player and had no result. I dont even know if
i'm looking in the right place. Are there any common errors that I
could be overlooking. I have built a few sites with flash and never
had this problem and thats why im confused.
    Heres the link
    Text.
If anyone could help me I would be greatful.
    Thanks!

  • Flash to Quicktime on Intel

We have experienced a number of output issues related to Flash 8-to-Quicktime publishing on MacBook Pro and Intel-based iMacs. Error messages related to the incorrect version of Quicktime appear, and the process fails. This does not happen on older G5 and G4 processor machines running the same software.
It is our general feeling that there is a bug in Flash 8 running on Intel that is inhibiting this process, perhaps related to Rosetta. I can't find discussions about this or support topics in the knowledge base. I would be interested if other developers are experiencing this same problem.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

We are aware of these two issues - this is not the problem I am faced with. We have made these 2 changes you mentioned and we see a difference in output between Intel- and nonIntel-based machines. The Intel machines fail when publishing Flash to Quicktime with an error message re: Quicktime components missing.
This is the problem we are trying to correct.
    There are two issues:
QuickTime Player can only view (and interact) with
files "published" as version 5, or lower. The Flash
app will allow you to make these settings.
QuickTime Player (most recent update) has "disabled"
Flash playback by default (security issues and
concerns) so each user must open the System
Preferences (Mac) or Control Panel (PC) and place a
check mark to "Enable Flash". This is for Flash
tracks found inside .mov files or for import (Pro
    users) of .swf files.
They should also quit and relaunch the Player to make
    this change.

  • Flash to quicktime to iMovie...

I'm working on a slideshow of a trip to Ghana that some students took. I thought it would be cool to stick an Indiana Jones style map sequence in. I did the sequence in Flash MX and exported it to Quicktime. No problems there -- looks great. I'm doing the slideshow portion of the project in iPhoto. I export the slideshow (also into quicktime), and open it with iMovie. I've done it lots of times before, and I've always been happy with the results. I use iMovie because I'm able to use more than one song. We're talking close to 800 slides here. I've done this several times in the past with smaller projects, but still longer than the one song iPhoto allows (15-20 min). The problem I'm having now is that when I imort the quicktime file of my map sequence into iMovie, it becomes very pixalated. I've tried changing the aspect ratio, but still had the same effect. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this? I've done similar things in the past, and this is starting to drive me nuts!

as far as I know, Flash uses vector grafix, but video is pixel grafix...
video is 720x480, so it can, due to standards, not be as "crisp" as a Flash on a computer's monitor...
I've done a Flash>>video conversion with QTpro once or twice... gave up, never looked acceptable (my standards...).
It is better to do the anims in designated pixel apps as Photoshop, Carrara, Cinema4D, use video-apps with keyframe ability as FinalCutExpress or use cute plug-ins as this one:
    Geethree's Travel Log
besides, one of my silly workarounds:
make a mix of your music in Garageband/Audacity/audio edit app of designated length, use THAT in iPhoto...

  • Flash video lags when uploaded to Youtube.

    Hi.
I have tried to upload one of my flash videos on youtube, the only problem is that it lags!
The sound is perfect, but the film only shows about 1 frame per second, when it's supposed to be 12 frames per second. This is obviously nothing worth watching when the picture lags as much as it does.
I have uploaded the same video on my facebook profile, and it worked pretty good, but as I already said, it lags when it is on youtube.
I don't have any movieclips in the movie I uploaded to Youtube.
Does it have anything to do with the settings on the movie? I eksported it in to a quiktime film before I uploaded it to youtube. I saw a tutorial where the person exported his flash into quiktime and uploaded it to youtube, and the animations were smooth, but when I do this, it lags.
    Can anybody help me?

I don't see that. To me, it looks the same quality as any YouTube video.
How do most YouTube videos look to you?

  • Uploading problems with Safari 4.1.3 -

Hello, I just thought this was a funny question to ask -
On my PowerPC G5 tower, running OS 10.4.11, and my question is in regards to Safari version 4.1.3 uploading problems for facebook and youtube... I always have to use FireFox version 3.6.13... and not without trouble either.
I get it.  I need a new computer, but I just thought it fascinating why one works 90% of the time and the other never works.

Firefox is way more upto date than Safari in 10.4.11, but TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Also I think they Require Flash &/or Java, which may be a problem in 10.4

the results i get a odd. - the video exports fine, except for the beginning titles, instead a still frame image from somewhere else in the video occupies that intro, until the first transition- in this case- dip to white, then the rest of the video is fine. the portion of the beginning  that does not show are composed of:  livetype text credits in V2 - in which i have done a manual opacity fade up and down - so the livetype text fades in, over matte color solid in V1. in the exported video -i do not see any of this, all i see is a seemingly random still from somewhere else in the video. i can however hear the audio as it is supposed be.
cant figure out why this is happening. anybody know?
    i think the livetype files are 1920 x 1080.
my FCP sequence is 720 p
this has only recently started happening and doesn't seem to be consistent.
im wondering if it has to do with the live type files, or the white solid?…
    or the conversion settings above?

Earlybird is exporting H264 ... the Key Frames setting is determining the GOP length. This value should really be determined based on the complexity of the video, to my understanding, the actual frame rate has no bearing on it. If you have very complex fast moving content then a low Key Frame rate is advisable to ensure good image quality (although it will adversely affect the filesize) whereas if you have slow moving or static content (like an interview subject) then a higher Key Frame rate will still produce a good image but at a smaler filesize. The default of 24 should be pretty much fine as a catchall starting point.
    Earlybird
Corrupted render files (and render references) can be a pain because FCP will use those files and references  in place of the original media when building the export. And so it should as it does't want to waste time re-rendering sections that are apparently already rendered. Unfortuantely, as noted, if the render file has gone bad and/or starts referencing the wrong media then you'll get these wierd flashes of completely unexpeced and unwanted footage showing up where it shouldn't be. When you trash those files then QT / FCP will just go back and re-reference the original media ... so it's usually a worthwhile step to take just in case thats the problem.  The worse case scenario is that it only that doesn't work and you spend some time unecessarily re-rendering.
As to why these files go bad? That I don't know. Why do Preferences get corrupted? That I don't know either but it definitely happens :-(
    Cheers

  • Need a fix for Muse upload problems to GoDaddy????  I found one!

GoDaddy now has a new cpanel named "Plesk".  In that panel you will find File Manager.  (I use the Windows version).  In the left panel of File Manager, you will see the root directory and all of its subfolders.  When you click on any of these folders, you will see their contents in the right panel.  You will also see a folder labelled "httpdocs".  This is the default folder that is set up in GoDaddy to be your "home" folder.  So, to fix your upload problems, do these steps:
    1.  Click on the httpdocs folder to see it open in the right panel.  In the toolbar above the right panel, you will see a green plus sign with the word "New".  Click on this drop-down menu.
    2.  Choose "directory"
    3.  Type in the name of one of the folders that your site will need, e.g. images, css, assets, scripts, etc.  This basically creates a subfolder within the httpdocs folder, right?  (There is a way to see how your Muse site sets up these folders prior to publish or upload.  You do this by choosing "Export as HTML" in the File menu of Muse, creating a folder on your desktop (or wherever) for the HTML export, then inspecting its contents after your save it.)
    4.  Continue to create all the subfolders within httpdocs that you will need.  Unfortunately, you have to do this one folder at a time.
    5.  After you have them set up, begin the process of uploading your site, like this:
    6.  In the File menu in Muse, you'll of course see "Upload to FTP Host ...".  Click on it.
    7.  A dialog box will open.  In the top text field, type in your website name ... you must use www. with your entry
    8.  In the "FTP Host" field, type in your domain name again like this ... "ftp.yourdomain.com" ... NO FORWARD SLASHES!!! (even if you find instructions to the contrary, like in Filezilla)  (Also, your domain might be a .org or .net, instead of a .com)
    9.  In the "Host directory" field, YOU MUST ENTER "httpdocs"!!!!  Despite what you learn, DO NOT LEAVE THIS FIELD BLANK!!!
    10.  Then enter your GoDaddy username and password.  (If you set up a different username for your GoDaddy account and your Plesk account, like I did, then use your Plesk username and password.)
    11.  Click on "Upload:  All Files"
The next few steps are tedious, but necessary to keep your site organized on GoDaddy and to keep from confusing things.  You can probably get away with it, but, if your site doesn't load properly in a browser after doing the above steps, you'll need to click on each folder in the root directory that you copied as a subfolder in the "httpdocs" folder and delete the files.  For example, in the left panel of File Manager, you'll see the root directory.  Click on the "images" folder.  If there are any images that you need for your site in that folder, delete them.  Remember ... you've already copied them over to the images subfolder in httpdocs during your last upload described in the instructions above.  If you don't trust that you can delete them, click on the "httpdocs" folder, then click on the "images" folder and check the files.  Same files, right?  So, go ahead and delete the site files that you find in the appropriate folders in the root directory, making sure that you don't delete the ones that are NOT duplicated within the "httpdocs" folder.  Also remember that your .html pages will not require a subfolder to be set up in the "httpsdocs" folder.  They can just sit there, looking pretty.  But you will have to delete them from the root directory to keep things tidy.  Just click on the folder icon next to "root directory", and you'll see those html pages in the right panel.  Again, delete them.
REMEMBER:  To keep your Muse uploads to your GoDaddy site error free, you must ALWAYS make sure that "httpdocs" appears in the "Host directory" field in the "Upload to FTP Host ..." dialog box in Muse.  And all files and folders that your site needs MUST go in the "httpdocs" folder in the root directory of your site in GoDaddy's File Manager (now found in your Plesk Panel).
I hope this wasn't too confusing.  If so, call GoDaddy.  I called them with this fix and they are using it in their phone support.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was going out of my mind. And GoDaddy was no help (although they're usually really good.) I put all the folders in "httpdocs" and the website worked perfectly!
