Flash Video- audio level adjustable?
How do you boost the audio level on .flv video files? I have
encoded the original .avi video using the Adobe Flash CS3 Video
Encoder, created the FLV player within DreamWeaver, and then
published the site. The audio is barely audible. The audio level of
the original file was fine.
thanks man, ive fixed it now thats why you can see them,
really apreciate you having a look tho, thats our new compilation
CD coming out soon.
if anyone is intersted, the problem was a mime setting on
windows server 2003, you need to add a new MIME type in the IIS.

CUBE Automatic Audio Level Adjustment
I am looking for some assistance on the following scenario.
SIP Provider ---- Cisco CUBE (3925) ---- CUCM 9.1 ------ 7945G.
The 7945G places outbound call to a remote device. The remote device says the audio level is low. Is there a way on the CUBE to ensure an automatic gain control?
We are looking to do this at the CUBE level as to normalize the audio level as we have a hundred people making 10,000 to 12,000 calls per day.
I have found the following command for the dial-peer audio outgoing level-adjustment, but this appears to just adjust the gain/loss at a specific level, we are looking for it to dynamically adjust the gain/loss.
Thanks
DannyNo, this is a pretty common technique, though I don't seem to see it too often at the end of a soundbite. It's used frequently in news magazine types of shows, most often when introducing a person or interview subject to the viewer for the first time. For example:
You're watching a story about competitive potato chip eating. You've just seen a few moments of location b-roll and action footage of potato chip eating competitions, whilst the reporter uses a voiceover to begin telling the story, probably about the rigors of training for such an event. As the reporter begins to talk about the world-ranking potato chip eater, the video cuts to this individual in an interview setting, and it's clear from the video that he's blathering away. However, there is no audio from the interview, just the reporter's VO setting up the soundbite. You might hear something like, "Joe Schmo, world-ranking potato chip eater, trains over sixty hours each week". At that point, the interview audio cuts in quickly, almost as if it's completing the thought in the VO, eg. "Training is hard work. It's almost like a job". And so on and so forth...
You could do the same to exit from a soundbite, but I personally think that means you've selected the wrong soundbite to use. The interviewee isn't completing the thought, hence the need to dip out of the audio quickly. That said, you can achieve this pretty easily with a very short audio dissolve or (my preference) by keyframing the volume rubberband for a particular clip. It's easier to ramp the audio for a slight ease in/ease out effect that can soften the cut. Something in the neighborhood of 3-4 frames should be all you need. If it's still too abrupt, you may have to lay in some room tone/ambient sound in order to bridge the cut. You can then put a slightly longer fade on this clip to more transparently transition out of the interview. -
Audio Level Adjustment for Multicam Clip
Greetings,
I have 2 issues while some audio tweaking for a Multicam edit. I have assigned the audio for a single angle to apply to the entire sequence. There are some clips in the sequence where, at times, I cannot adjust the level of the audio. It will show the level when clicking with the selector, but it cannot be dragged up or down. Stranger still, if I select it within a series of clips and use CTRL -/+ to change levels, it is unchanged even though all the others changed. There is nothing differnent about the clips in question (they are not Compound Clips or anything.)
Restarting seems to often fix the above problem. But it seems to be happening enough that it's a real inconvenience. Also I am having similar issues with the audio level meter freezing up intermittently. Sometimes when I toggle audio skimmer it can correct it for a while, but once it starts, a restart is inevitable. Does anyone have any workarounds for making this work properly?
One last question that is not a glitch but a functionality I hope exists but cannot find. Given that I have one angle of audio for the entire clip, I want very badly - and feel like it should be possible - to make adjustments to the audio as I would if it were one continuous clip; for instance, to be able to select a range across the clip transitions and adjust levels accordingly. So far the best workaround is to select all the clips and use CTRL -/+ to adjust. But this allows less control, because I must then go in and adjust sections of clips on the ends that I did not want changed. Would love to know if anyone knows a way!
Thanks for your time and assistance!
BrianI would think it would be easiest to open the muticlip in the Angle Editor where you would have a clear view of each individual angle and its audio.

Some flash video/audio won't play
Hello, I'm using 10.6.7 and the lastest Flash plugin.
I've troubles with playback some flash video and audio in all browsers: Safari, Firefox 4, Chrome.
For example, Soundcloud.com works fine, but as a widget on other web-sites it doesn't work. Youtube and Vimeo — perfect, but BBC's videos won't play (ex., http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13054205).
Any ideas?Your link works fine for me in Safari.
Check your "extensions" (browser add ons) for your browsers. Some may conflict. -

We just sent a Commercial out to the Cable Company.
In FCP our timeline/project audio levels were carefully watched so they did not peak at more than -12db.
When we did a Print to Video so we could Master it to DV Tape for delivery (per their standards), we set the Bars & Tone at :30 seconds & -12db.
When we re-captured the video to test it out... the Bars & Tone played at -24db and the program played at -12db. Naturally, this concerned us because we were scared that our program's Audio Levels would not be up to par.
-Normally (in Avid) I would have Bars & Tone on my timeline set to :30secs & -12db... then capture from my timeline with all levels peaking at -12db.
What should our levels be set at during a Print to Video operation in FCP if our timeline/project is set at -12db?I suspect I would not even peak at -3 dBFS. If I am using 24 bit, you have a long way to the noise floor, which means after the fact it is easy to raise the levels if required without adverse consequences.
If I am in the Analog domain, with a decent mixer with headroom, coming near 0dB I believe is harmless, as 0dB will translate out to -18 ot 20 dBFS ( I am sure this varies from mixer to mixer ) - harmless if your mixer does not clip and has headroom above 0dB. I use a Mackie 1640, which has +18 dB of headroom. -
Choppy Flash video/audio in fullscreen. Fix!
I've been banging my head against the wall for 24 hours now and this works for me.
I have an old MacBook Pro, 10.6.8, newest version of Chrome, Safari and Firefox, and a new Focusrite USB audio interface (Scarlett 2i2).
Installed the newest Flash player (11 something) and the Focusrite yesterday and everything went bad. Choppy fullscreen video, no audio in Chrome etc etc. So anyway, now it's all fine:
MAC/FLASH: Choppy video, no audio FIX.
1. UNINSTALL FLASH PLAYER. It *****. And it gobbles CPU power.
2. Bin the whole Macromedia folder from ~/Library/Preferences.
3. USE CHROME FOR FLASH SITES (has built in flash player - close Chrome when not in use to shut its flash player, to save CPU power).
4. ALSO: Have a USB audio interface? AUDIO MIDI SETUP: 44.1kHz OUTPUT.
That's it. Everything is now smooth in fullscreen in Chrome, and great audio through the Focusrite box.
*fingers crossed*Does removing flash have any affect on the other browsers?
Yes - flash videos will not play in other browsers. Chrome has built-in flash so it still works.
However some YouTube videos will (after 2 seconds or so) detect that you don't have flash and default to H264 playback which seems to work fine.
I've now been using Chrome only for flash palyback for a couple of weeks and it works fine if you follow the steps above.
Last point - I often have to set Youtube to something lower than HD playback. Maybe just an internet speed thing. -
OT: Audio Level Adjustment in Premiere
In broadcast interview situations, the interviewee often continues to speak but the audio disappears without a fade out or sudden cutoff. One frame the subject is talking, the next just his lips are moving until the segue back to the interviewer.
What's the secret to doing this sort of edit? When I do this using volume effects, I either get an obvious fade as the volume goes to zero, or a get a sudden cutoff that's never clean sounding. Razoring a audio track often comes across too abrupt and obvious. How is this done?
ThanksNo, this is a pretty common technique, though I don't seem to see it too often at the end of a soundbite. It's used frequently in news magazine types of shows, most often when introducing a person or interview subject to the viewer for the first time. For example:

Some Flash video/audio sites not working, Mac - Tiger
Hey there
I'm having an issue where certain flash sites don't work
properly on my mac, they just sit there loading and never actually
do anything.
The vast majority of sites work just fine, youtube, google
video, gamevideos.com, the escapist, etc..
But some sites such as veoh.com simply will not play the
videos.
In addition to that, www.pandora.com will not work either,
but there I at least get an error message stating that "flash local
storage is not turned on". In this case I've tried to load the
flash manager and turn it on, but after changing it and going back
in, it seems that my changes were not saved and my local storage is
stuck at 10k max.
The exact same sites work fine on my friends PC using my
wireless connection.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall flash with no
success.
I've tried both firefox and safari, neither work, but the
flash stuff seems to be global on the machine, so I suspect it's
more of a problem with the flash than with a specific browser.
I've even tried to run firefox as root, install flash as
root, etc thinking that it was something to do with not having
permission to write to wherever flash was trying to store stuff.
I've got Firefox 2.0.0.14, OSX 10.4.11, and Flash 9.0.124.0
installed.
I suppose I'm most concerned about pandora.com, but I think
the video issues may be related to the "local storage" error I'm
getting aswell.
Any and all help greatly appreciated. No, not yet, support finally got back to me, but suggested it
was site specific.... which it's not, since every other computer
but mine works fine on that site (goto pandora.com if you're in the
US, it works fine, just not for me)
I've tried the flash 10 beta, that didn't help either.
I did a verify and repair permissions with apple's disk
utility, it did correct the permissons on the flash plugin, adding
write access for the group, but that didn't fix the problem.
Also, the fact that when I use the flash manager on adobe's
site and it won't remember the settings makes me think it's
something to do with Flash not having access to write a local
config file. It doesn't even have anything in the list of visited
sites like it should...
I don't know where this config file is, i'm still waiting to
hear back form support again...
I'll post something when it's fixed... -
No media content works (flash, video, audio)
Recently almost all media content asides from images as stopped working in safari. This is essentially anything quicktime would be used to play. The update to 10.4.3 did not help, and re-installing the quicktime 7.0.1(?) update did not fix the problem.
To illustrate fully how deep this problem runs in safari, if I were to open a video with safari like "http://link.to.the.video.mov" I would just be presented with a blank page.
The same goes for flash content (even after installing the official macromedia flash plugin multiple times). For instance if I were to navigate to "http://www.homestarrunner.com" which is a 100% flash site, I will be presented with a blank page.
Has anyone experienced this? And does anyone have any suggestions?
So far I have:
Re-installed the quicktime update
Re-installed the macromedia flash plugin
Verified / Repaired disk permissions
Removed all plugins from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and then added them back in one by one restarting safari each time. You know what is kinda annoying though, is that I did go to Help>Installed Plug-Ins to make sure they registered with Safari and there is no "These are your plug-ins BUT they are all disabled" message.
That would be convenient. -
Main menu audio volume adjustment issue
Under the Disc Menus tab, using the Ladybug menu template that comes with Premiere Pro Elements 9 and chose an audio clip to use as intro music. I need to adjust that tracks volume to better match the core video/audio levels. Ideas? The audio mixer does not show that track.
Thanks in advance!Welcome to the forum.
I think that Audacity, or similar, is the easiest way to handle this.
As I am usually doing DD 5.1 SS, for my Projects and for my Menus, I just create a Menu Sequence in PrPro, and edit my Audio (or perhaps Video too, if I have a Motion Background on the Menu), but as PrE does not have Sequences, one would have to create a New Project, to do that. Yes, Audacity would be much easier.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - even the full-featured Adobe authoring app., Encore, needs to have the Audio's Volume adjusted outside of the authoring program. -
Lock Audio Levels of a Storyline
I'm working on a Project where a woman is describing several processes/instructions on how to do things (like assemble a small box for a book cover).
She pauses often mid sentence (English is her second language). It's really bad, a 3-5 sentence ends up being 10+ because she pauses for 2-3 seconds after every 2-3 words. (often times it's because she can't say what she is doing & actually show it at the same time).
So, I need to delete/remove the audio pauses & then match it to the video (basically remove the some video from when she is talking)
I Detached the audio & then made it into a Secondary Storyline. I then select a range (using the waveform of the audio to delete the pause)
The only problem is that 50% of the time the audio levels change when I drag & drop the range (IE the horizontal line for the audio track changes levels with the drag).
Is there a way to keep the Audio waveform but remove the built in audio level adjustment? Can it be turned off?Huh? I don't want to adjust the audio level in the any clip(s).
The photo above was to show the audio level adjustment feature found in a clip on the timeline.
I'd already edited out the pauses in that timeline.
Each demo I'm editing are single take multicams (2-3 cameras) that range from 5-30 minutes long (sometimes there are more than 1 take but I simply incorporate each take into a single multicam.
Here is another picture of my next edit.
I don't want to adjust levels & there are no adjacent clips.
I simply want to remove anywhere from 20 frames to 4 seconds of dead audio
When it works correctly:
I turn range selector on, I then click & drag to create a range (see pic). Then hit delete. Repeat.
When it works incorrectly:
I turn range selector on, I then try to click & drag to create a range, however a range isn't created, the audio of the entire clip is adjusted. Obviously because the mouse was over audio adjustment feature of the clip. I want to turn that feature off/lock the audio levels so they can't be adjusted.
I should also point out that the in the photo, the timeline has been magnified for visual purposes. -
Record Level Adjust for Audio in Voice Memo or Video Recorder
I would like to request that Apple allow me to adjust the record audio volume level when recording in Voice Memo or Video Recorder modes. Often I find that the audio is distorting and most times I cannot step back far enough to avoid distortion levels. While I love the ability to SEE the audio level in Voice Memo mode, I am hoping that it is only a matter of firmware upgrade to be able to ADJUST the record level.
Also, if it is possible, it would be great to see some indication of audio level when recording video... something simple like a bar graph with green, yellow and red bars with the highest level reached sticking for a few seconds so that I can tell what the level is.
An alternate solution (if none of the above is possible in a firmware update) would be to automatically adjust the recording level to prevent audio distortion.
Thanks for the great iPod and here's hoping for a great firmware update in the near future! Thanks, I've submitted my recommendation to Apple.

Flash audio level drop outs (Windows 8.1)
Hey,
Using adobe flash, I've been having issues with to audio nearly dropping out to nearly inaudible levels on mutiple websites. Anything that does use the flash player, it seems to be triggered when I plug in another device into the computer for use, or charging although it doesn't seem to be 100% consistant and seems less likely after reinitiating the flash player, but would happen after having the flash player open for a longer period of time then attaching a device. My current work around is to either load up a different browser e.g. Google Chrome, which will use it's own plugin container containing another instance of flash. Or to end task on flash from my task manager, then reload the page. which would restore proper audio levels. This does not appear to be specific to one webpage, or to one brower.

While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.

How do I adjust audio levels at various points on timeline??
How do I make volume level adjustments in a single clip on the FCP-X timeline? I have a music bed and need to adjust audio levels at various points in the song. In past Final Cut programs. This should be very easy but I can't find how to do it in Final Cut Pro-X. I don't want to adjust the entire clip.
Also, I recorded voice on channel 2 and shot gun on channel 1. I only want the voice (channel 2). How can I select a individual channel once I have edited the piece. I know I can re-import the video and designate which channel to bring in but I don't want to have to do that.
Thanks!!Select a range and lower the level, or hold the Option key to click on the level line to add a keyframe.
