Flash Video Help FLV

I have a project for work where I have to create an online
educational video catalogue.
The videos are uploaded to the server. What I want to do is
transform the videos from various formats into flv (flash video
format) similar to the way youtube does it.
Does anyone have any idea of how to do this and if there are
any free tools to transform the video to flv format before, during
or after upload. (during or after upload would be best)?

anyone have any idea how to do this?

    Not natively; it only works if Perian is installed, and then only in Mac OS X 10.8.5 or earlier.

  • Flash video help with DW CS3

    I am trying to put a flash video on a website. I have the
    .flv file encoded. I followed the instructions to
    Insert>Media>Flash Video. Got the .flv file in the root
    folder, picked a skin, etc. When I view the page in the browser
    from Dreamweaver, it works just fine. So I uploaded the site to the
    server and tried to view it straight from the browser (rather than
    through local files). No flash video. The page appears as I
    designed it, only in the middle where the video is supposed to be
    it is just blank (black, just like the background). Any help would
    be greatly appreciated as its frustrating when you have it working
    all the way through the "preview in browswer" and when you upload
    to server it still doesn't work. I upoaded the html page and all
    dependent files as well. Thanks in advance.

    You need to upload the SWF file referenced in your html code.

  • Embedding Flash Video - Help needed!

    I'm fairly new to Flash and trying to embed a video to my
    website. When I import my video and test the movie, it works
    perfectly, showing the controls at the bottom and everything. When
    I add it to Dreamweaver and test the page, it only shows the video
    (sans media controls) and automatically plays when the page is
    loaded. What am I doing wrong??
    I'd like to upload the flash video w/media controls beneath
    it, to dreamweaver and it remain paused until the viewer hits the
    play button.
    Can anyone help?

    Dreamweaver does not reflect full functionality, you need to
    upload your stuff to
    server or test in browser. Best way to make sure things
    works.
    If your HTML refer to the SWF in some directory, make sure
    you have correct paths
    to the player skin (the video controls).

  • Savinf flash video as flv not fla?

    im trying to save my flash video as a flv but when saving the
    document i only get offered to save the file as a fla? can somone
    please tell me why. dreamweaver wont let me insert a video if it is
    not saved as aflv

    No... if you want to maintain your vectors and your
    actionscript, you need to export to .swf. FLV is a video format,
    and nothing more. You can embed metadata in an flv that an .swf can
    use in it's actionscript, but the flv alone can't do it.
    Now, if you just want to turn a flash animation into an flv,
    export the .fla to avi, and then transcode the avi to flv.

  • Where flash video stores flv file path

    Hi
    i select from menu insert->media->flash video and then
    select the flv file and click ok and i try to search for my file to
    change it to dynamic criteria like <?php echo
    $row_rsfnames['fname']; ?> to get flv files from a database
    How to do that?
    if this player doesn't support this feature i need DW
    extension that can do this to get flv files from a database.
    thanks in advance.

  • Stopping Flash Video help

    I have a problem with automaticly stopping external FLV video
    (in flash 8
    with Display component) at custom cue point. For example: if
    video is 400
    sec long, i wanted to stop it at 300 sec. I've tried with
    totalTime action
    but it only affect the slider. So, LuigiL sent me this
    solution which
    should, but - it doesn't work. Can you hel me fix the problem
    with stopping
    a FLV at a custom end point?
    myDisplay.totalTime=300;
    //use an object to listen for events
    var myDisplayListener:Object=new Object();
    //add event cuePoint to the object
    myDisplayListener.cuePoint=function(eventObj:Object){
    var index=eventObj.target.name;
    if(index=="stop"){
    myDisplay.stop();
    //set up the listener
    myDisplay.addEventListener("cuePoint",myDisplayListener);
    //add a cuepoint
    myDisplay.addCuePoint("stop",300);
    Thanks
    Luka

    No, it still doesn't work. And i've checked everything, paths
    are correct...
    Well, it must be some tiny detail i overlooked. I'll figure
    it out myself
    from this point.

  • TotalTime action for Flash Video help

    I'm trying to use totalTime action on MediaDisplay component
    in Flash 8 to
    set the duration of the external FLV video to some value: the
    movie is 360
    sec long, i tried to set its duration to 300 sec by applying
    the action
    _root.myDisplay.totalTime = 300;
    The controler component adapts to the new totalTime value and
    when the movie
    reached 300 sec the slider stopped at the end of slider bar.
    BUT, the movie
    still went on plying beyond 300 sec, and the slider just
    stood still at the
    end point of the slider bar.
    How can i REALY adjust the total playable time of the flv?
    Thanks!

    Fishy? I like fish! Had it for dinner last night.
    When you add a cuepoint the Media Component instance fires an
    event 'cuePoint' and you use the listener to respond to that event.
    When the event gets fired an event object is passed to the cuePoint
    event handler of the listener object. The event object contains the
    name of the event and the time. The name of the cuepoint is
    accessible with:
    eventObj.target.name
    and the time with:
    eventObj.target.time
    Nothing fishy about it.

  • Can Adobe After Effects 5.5 Educational Version produce Flash video in FLV file format.

    Everything I see here says yes, but I don’t see that option in the software.

    The only thing I want to do with this software is create a FLV video file with a transparent background using RGB+Alpha.
    I’ve seen After Effects v3 do what I want, and this video says the version I have will do just that (http://www.peachpit.com/podcasts/episode.aspx?e=5a0c0558-708a-4511-af87-41797811841d), but I don’t have a FLV option in export. Could it be I have some options set incorrectly?

  • Flash Video per Flv

    Hallo
    Kann mir das jemand erklären--
    Hilft es was wenn ich die Buffertime höher setzte- sie steht jetz auf 0.1
    oder kann mir jemand sagen ob es Probleme gibt wenn die Flv Komponente immer den gleichen Instanznamen hat. ich habe ca. 4 x4= also 16 Instanzen der Flv Komponente - der Unterschied ist der das immer ein anderes Video über den Contentpath geladen wird.
    und ich habe ein "Spring zum Menü" code für das Ende der Filme je auf dem Frame wo die Flv Komponente sitzt :
    vidListnr = new Object();
    vidListnr.complete = function(evtObject){
    trace("Video-Ende");
    _root.gotoAndStop(2);
    vid.addEventListener("complete",vidListnr);
    leider ist das Projekt zu gross, um es online zu stellen. die Videos sind ja für den lokalen Palyback bestimmt.
    danke

    hier habe ich das Projekt abgespeckt hochgeladen-
    http://rapidshare.com/files/406870473/Test.rar
    http://rapidshare.com/files/406883868/Test_cs3.rar
    das Projekt muss per Projektor.exe ausgegeben werden.
    Wenn man bei den Filmen über den Menütasten Vor und zurück springt - hat man
    irgendwann das Problem- das der Sound läuft aber das Video nicht.
    Einfach mehrmals durchklicken.
    danke

  • Flash Video and SWFObject

    Hi Guys
    I'm trying to insert a flash video file (FLV) that has the
    controls as a separate swf using SWFObject. The flash was created
    in Flash 8.
    I'm not sure of the actual code I need to get this to work
    though.
    The html file that should contain the flash is
    /Careers/index.html.
    These files are in the /Careers/flash/ folder:
    ClearOverPlaySeekMute.swf
    complete_david_w_headshot_small_controls_over.swf
    complete_david_w_headshot.flv
    I have also tried inserting the Flash Video using Dreamweaver
    8 (Insert -> Media), however, there were two problems in IE.
    1. You still needed to activate the flash and
    2. When playing the video, it wouldn't play the last 2
    seconds. However, pausing and the playing again from that position
    does play the remainder.
    I also preferred the DW 8 Clear Controls Skin over the Flash
    8 one, so is it possible that I could attach this somehow to the
    FLV?
    I'd really appreciate some help.
    Thanks

  • Flash Video - Probs with NetStream.onMetaData

    So i have created a video player and have noticed something
    about the onMetaData function. I have a path to the videos as a
    relative path to my .swf file ( myPath = 'media/'; ) and when i
    test my movie, the onMetaData function does not get called.
    However, when everything is online, or being pulled from an
    absolute path ( myPath = '
    http://www.mydomain.com/media';
    ) it is called.
    I was just curious as to why that is...?

    ewon15,
    > well i'm using actionscript 2.0 ... i have not had a
    chance
    > to dive into AS3.
    No worries. :) It just makes a difference in regard to
    whatever
    snippets or samples would be helpful to you.
    > i'm not sure what you mean when you ask me if there is
    > metadata in my FLV...
    When the FLV file is encoded, it may or may not have
    additional
    information -- the metadata -- embedded into it. MP3 files,
    for example,
    mainly contain audio recordings, but they have the capability
    of also
    containing metadata a such as copyright date, the recording
    artist's name,
    etc. If your FLV has no metadata, then the
    NetStream.onMetaData event won't
    be prompted to do anything.
    > but the way i know the onMetaData method of the
    NetStream
    > class was not being dispatched was by the timer and
    scrubber
    > i set up...plus i put a trace in the method and it was
    not outputting
    > anything...
    Sometimes it helps to trace more than just the value of a
    given object.
    It's possible, for example, that the trace() is indeed
    putting content to
    the Output panel, but maybe that content is an empty string.
    > here's the gist of my code:
    > [lots of code ...]
    Aha. So your trace is "hello," which should certainly be
    visible in the
    Output panel -- provided the FLV file has metadata. That's
    good. And
    you're saying that everything works with absolute paths, but
    not relative
    paths? That makes me wonder if the relative path is hitting
    the video file
    at all. (Of course, it would presumably be obvious if not,
    because you
    wouldn't see the video at all.)
    A quick glance at your code doesn't reveal to me anything
    outright
    wrong. Some of that code looks like it was suggested by one
    of my blog
    articles, but I can't be sure of that. (I was going to refer
    you to my
    blog, but I didn't want to send you on a wild goose chase, if
    you'd already
    come from there.)
    My general approach, when I run into something baffling like
    this, is to
    isolate the problem area in a separate FLA, so I can study it
    without the
    distraction of the rest of the code. Here's a quick snippet
    from the Help
    docs, for example ...
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
    ns.onMetaData = function(infoObject:Object) {
    for (var propName:String in infoObject) {
    trace(propName + " = " + infoObject[propName]);
    ns.play("
    http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/water.flv");
    Paste that into a new FLV, test the SWF, and see if you get
    output in
    your Output panel. You should. Then save that new FLA into
    the same folder
    as your existing work and change the absolute path of that
    Adobe file to the
    absolute path of one of your own. See if the same sort of
    output appears in
    your Output panel. It should. If it doesn't, that means your
    FLV doesn't
    have metadata. If it does, remove the URL portion and see if
    it still works
    locally for the same FLV (your FLV), but with a relative
    path.

  • Flash Video in template child pages

    I have created templates with editable regions for my
    websites. When I try to insert a Flash video file (.flv) it wants
    to put code in the header region and body region. I have tried
    erasing the editable areas, making the entire header an editable
    area, making the entire site an editable area. I've tried looking
    on Google and the Dreamweaver Developers section (there is a link
    to an answer but the link is broken). I unfortunately only have
    Dreamweaver 8. If this problem is fixed in CS3 I'd be happy to go
    to Kinkos and rent a machine. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Here's how you will have to manage this.
    When you insert a Flash video on the page, several things
    happen -
    1. DW inserts a link to a javascript file in the head of the
    page.
    2. If you elect to check for Flash versions, DW inserts a
    call to that
    javascript in the <body> tag of the page.
    3. DW then inserts a javascript call to the file (in #1) on
    the page at the
    location where the Flash is to appear.
    In a Template child page -
    1. The head region must have an editable region in it, so
    that the link can
    be inserted.
    2. The Flash check call will fail to be written to the body
    tag, since that
    is LOCKED by the template.
    3. The javascript will be written to the body of the page
    where you
    inserted the Flash.
    Thus, 2 of the 3 elements should work fine.
    My suggestion? Do it again, and do not select the check for
    Flash version -
    that should work for you.

  • Put Flash Video on an iPod?

    Has anyone tried to sabve Flash Video files (flv) so that they can be imported to an iPod?
    Thx,

    The iPod cannot play flash video. It can only play video that meets the following requirements:
    H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    You'd have to find a way to convert the flash movie into some compatible format that meets the specifications above.
