Flash Video Import Skins

I've noticed that many of the flash skin players won't work
with the File-Video-Import option. I can get the skins that are
titled "Over " to work fine. But the "External" skins that wrap
around the actual flv. won't show up on export. All files located
in proper place. I've used several skins to double check. For
example ArcticOverNoVol works, while MojaveExternalAll wont show.
Size setting is 400 x 276. I'm wondering if there is a bug in this
section, I've noticed a lot of people dealing with this. Anyone
know the answer to this?

Click on whatever your using to display the video, whether it
be actual video footage embedded or your using an Adobe video
player component to display it while the footage is hosted
remotely.
Then go to the top toolbar dropdown Window > Component
Inspector.
If your video object is embedded on the stage, look in the
Component Inspector window, on the Parameters tab, there will be
options, one of them is autoPlay, set that to False.
If you are using one of Adobe's pre-built components to
display your video, click your player, and in the Component
Inspector there will be a checkbox labelled "Automatically Play",
uncheck that.

    I use DW CS3. I'm a very basic-level user doing business
    sites/pages and need to get things moving fast. I'm not much into
    HTML coding.
    I love the fact that when I have a page in DW it's simple to
    choose "Insert - Media - Flash Video..." and I get the list of
    choices for the file to insert and the dropdown of built-in
    players/skins to use. I typically create 640x480 videos and I
    typically choose the last one in the list: Halo 3. I always just
    choose "Detect Size" and that's it.
    However, I really need to add "current time" and "total time"
    indicators ("Min:Sec" format) so viewers will know the time they're
    in for and so I can have advisors comment on particular sections in
    the content of given videos.
    I really, really, REALLY want to end up with the same
    luxuriously simple functionality that I have now with the current
    built-in choice: Just choose it from the drop-down, choose "Detect
    Size" and be done with it and move on.
    I'd also really like to stay with the generally minimalistic,
    clean, sleek, professional look that the Halo skin provides (well,
    it's very similar to the typical YouTube skin for that matter).
    And I'd really like for it to be truly debugged and 100%
    reliable, functional, and compatible with the DW CS3 program.
    I'm happy to pay to buy what I'm after.
    (Note: If it just can't be done and doesn't exist, then
    please guide me to the simplest path for achieving the closest
    thing to this by placing HTML code and files in folders as needed
    -- or anything else you can suggest.)
    Thanks!

  • All Flash Videos are skin elements

    I was importing a flash video to one of my pages, dreamweaver
    would not respond. Afterwards all the flash movies in the image
    folder shows the same thing (icons for sound, stop, forward, etc),
    even when I try to import different flash videos. Anyone know what
    I did? I tried reinstalling Dreamweaver, reinstalled Flash Player,
    threw away the preference files... I then tried to download my site
    from the test server and I could do so as long as I didn't download
    dependent files. As soon as I tried to download the file with
    dependent files, the application quit. Suggestions?

    To fix this I simply set up a new site with a blank html
    page, imported a flash video; then copied the
    AC_RunActiveContent.js from the Scripts folder as well as the
    FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf and Clear_Skin_1.swf files to the old
    site. All the problems disappeared....

  • Flash video losing skins in DW

    I am embedding Flash SWF files in my Dreamweaver pages. I

    The skin SWF and the video SWF are in the same folder (along with
    the FLA).
    Any suggestions?

    Please make a test copy of your page (name it something the

    upload all your files (don't forget the Scripts folder)
    post a link to your test page.

  • Help with Flash Video Import

    I was hoping to get some help with something that is frustrating me.
    I have an .fla file with two frames. In the first frame I need a movie (.flv). When the movie ends I need to progress to the next frame on the time line.
    I have converted the original .mov to an .flv and imported it into my file as an external viseo w/playback component and no skin. It is now in my library as FLVPlayback and I have given it an instance name of 'goFrame'. Its contentPath is the name of my .flv file (P1010472.flv)
    So I put the FLVPlayback onto my first frame and I put a stop() in the actions for the frame; and I have text on the second frame, also with a stop to see when the frame has advanced.
    I found this code:
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    listenerObject.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
            _root.gotoAndPlay(2);
    myMedia.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);
    I was under the impression I put this code in the actions for the frame that has the video component (the first frame)
    I replaced 'myMedia' with 'goFrame' which is the instance name I gave my FLVPlayback but what is the listener object? This is the code I now have on the first frame actions:
    stop();
    var FLVPlayback:Object = new Object();
    FLVPlayback.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
            gotoAndPlay(2);
    goFrame.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);
    but it doesnt advance at the end of the video, it stop on frame 1 after playing the video.
    I know I must name the 'listenerObject' and the 'myMedia' event listener but I must say I am simply confused what goes where. I may be a bit dense as I have been reading forums that are discussion this type of thing but cannot figure what name goes where in this code or if I am entering it correctly. It simply is not advancing.
    can anyone give me a hint?
    Chris

    use:
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    listenerObject.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
            _root.gotoAndPlay(2);
    goFrame.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);

  • How do I specify where a skin is located when publishing a Flash Video?

    I'm creating Flash video's using the Import/Video wizard.
    When I go to publish the video, I want the HTML file located in a
    different (parent) directory from all the other video files, so
    that all my HTML files for the site are in the root directory. The
    problem is when I change the publish settings to create the HTML in
    a different location, the video works properly but it doesn't find
    where the skin is located and the skin doesn't show up. I thought
    it would be simple to just change the HTML code to point to where
    the skin is but I can't locate any references to the skin (name or
    location) in any of the HTML code. How do I change the code to
    accurately reflect where the skin is located???
    thanks for any responses.

    Select the FLV Playback component instance, change skin
    parameter at components inspector or parameters tab on property
    inspector, select "Custom Skin URL" for the skin option, and set
    the path of your player skin relative to your html.
    e.g.
    your html file located at web root directory, all swf files
    located in a subfolder named 'swf', so if you are using the skin
    ArcticOverAll.swf, type in the URL field:
    swf/ArcticOverAll.swf
    Alternatively, you can also type the full path of your skin
    file on your web server.
    e.g.
    http://www.yourwebsite.com/somefolder/swf/ArcticOverAll.swf

  • Importing Flash Video

    I need some help. I have a video. The video is in an *.avi
    format and in an *.swf format. When choosing to import a flash
    video in Captivate 3, I can only select *.flv file. Can anyone
    recommend software that will allow me to convert the avi or swf to
    the format that Captivate can import?

    You'll probably need to get Flash. The FLV (Flash video)
    encoder comes with
    Flash 8 or higher.
    It's a separate program and takes in avi's or other video
    formats and
    outputs FLV. It will not convert a SWF to FLV -- FLV is a
    video format not a
    Flash format, if that makes sense.
    Contact me offline if you need further explanation.

  • Importing existing flash video files??

    howdy
    quick question. if you import existing flash video files into an encore project, will this help reduce the final render time? or will encore rerender the existing flash video files?
    cheers
    angus

    Encore CS3 won't import FLV files. You must render the project to Flash.
    You may want to file a feature request at Adobe's support page asking for support for Flash-ready assets, to eliminate the need to transcode in Encore.

  • Insert Flash Video Skin Issue

    When I Insert a Flash Video the second drop down box is
    titled Skin. I have 9 options, 3 Clear, 3 Corona, 3 Halo. The first
    two types add the Play Bar on to the video which shows when
    scrolled over. The third adds it to the bottom.
    The Halo option is what I want, a play bar at the bottom,
    however this option seems to also a black line sized border just
    outside the whole of the video. I can not seem to find a way to
    stop this. What folder are these play bars located in? Could I add
    more to it, or use flash to modify the existing skin to change
    colour or remove that border or just plain make my own?
    Thanks

    Yes. All in my flash folder. Skin is call SkinUnderAll.swf. I did notice in Dremweaver that this file does not show up in the code with the rest of the video code. When I add the video swf do I still need to add the skin file also. I was thinking that I wouldn't have to.

  • Importing flash video shifts cells

    When I import flash video to my pages that were cut in
    photoshop, the cells shift around.
    Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    To expand a little on what Walt says, this symptom is the
    "Poster Child" (so
    to speak) for why one should not use graphics programs to
    write HTML.
    Applications like Photoshop and Fireworks are marketed
    partially on the
    basis that they can build your page for you, and this is
    true, but what they
    do not tell you is that the resulting pages are suitable ONLY
    for
    prototyping, and NOT for production-grade web pages. The
    layouts that are
    built are monolithic and 'brittle' meaning that as soon as
    the "shape" of
    the contents on the page change away from what was on the
    canvas in the
    graphics application when you exported the HTML, the layout
    shifts and
    'breaks'. They do their job well, these graphics apps, but
    only if you
    understand where and when to use them....

  • Flash CS3 import Video playback appears half black

    Hello everybody,
    I hope you could help me.
    This problem occurs when a file becomes. wmv to .swf, using Adobe Flash CS3 import video feature. (Windows 7 Professional x64)
    At the end is a video (codec On2's VP6.2) which appears a black band at the top half. I reinstalled the entire CS3 suite, but the problem persists.
    Could you give me some advices for this?
    Thank you in advace.
    Regards.

    Microsoft broke WMV decoding in a recent Microsoft update.

  • How to embed Flash video and control skin using HTML?

    I am trying to use HTML to embed a flash video, however I encounter the following errors:
    Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="

    </OBJECT>
    Whenever I open the page I'll get a popup window with the above errors and once I click "continue" it will go ahead and play the video, but without the control skin.  Can anyone tell me how to get the skin to show up?

    I found a solution at this thread.  Basically, you just have to move your skin file (ie. SkinOverPlayStopSeekMuteVol.swf) to the same directory as your index.html file.
    doghouseJim, thanks for the link.  Although I didn't have to use swfobject in this case it is still good to know.  Also, I didn't know that Flash can generate the HTML.  This is a quick and easy way to see the video in a web browser and if you're using Firefox you can go to View > Page Source to see the code.  If you just want to see the HTML, then all you have to do is go to File > Publish Preview > HTML and it will open a web browser where you can view the page source.

  • Skinned Flash Video upload

    I'm wanting to upload a Flash video that I've made with a
    skin and need to know if I can upload the files to a web server
    without putting the video into Dreamweaver.
    The files that I currently have are in one folder:
    SkinOverPlayStopSeekMuteVol.swf
    Melting Discoveries.flv
    melt test.swf
    melt test.html
    AC_RunActiveContent.js
    I was thinking I could upload these and open the .html url to
    play the video, but that is failing.
    If anyone has tips or a link to send me to I'd appreciate it.
    Luke

    Select the FLVPlayer component on the stage. Open the Component Inspector window.  In the Parameters tab the Content Path will be the fifth item down the list. Alternately, in versions before CS4, you can use the Parameters tab in the Properties window and find the same Content Path.

  • Importing a Flash Video created from a DVD file into a presentation

    We have a DVD recording that we converted to various formats, including SWF, AVI and FLA/FLV.  We want to use our LMS to track who has watched the video so we hoped to use a Capitvate Presentation and the SCORM feature.  I created a new presentation and used the Insert Flash Video feature.  The Flash object appears on the screen but it won't play neither after publishing nor will it preview in Browser.  I can play it in a plain HTML file, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem wth the FLV file itself.  I also tried using the Insert Animation with the SWF version and it just hangs up Captivate and still nothing happens.  Clearly I am missing some critical step for importing video and while I've scoured the forum, I just can't seem to find a solution.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    What version of Captivate are you using ?

  • Viewing video imported in Flash

    I'm looking at a .mov video imported into Flash as a movie
    clip. When I

    Thanks doghouseJim, tried AVI & MP$ still no improvement. Sometime is
