Flash Video in Safari

I have a G5, and when I play a flash video (like youtube) the video I get it very choppy and sluggish. The audio is smooth, but the images are choppy compared to my PC. Is this standard on macs? Is my computer getting old?

Hi Devin
The choppy content may be more a function of the OS and Flash versions installed in your machine.
Noticed you are using 10.4.6. Is that correct? Best to be at least at 10.4.10 (.11 upgrades Safari to version 3.0.4). You can upgrade to .11 via Software Update. Upgrade to 10.4.10 is here. Remember to "repair permissions" after the Install using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
Specific to YouTube, are you using the latest version of Flash? You can check your version here. If you upgrade, make sure you "repair permissions" as per above.

  • Flash video  w/ Safari 5.0.6

I can't play flash videos on on my G5 PPC iMac w/Safari 5.0.6 and OSX 10.5.8 anymore.
    Suggestions

I don't have a problem with Flash videos, so neither shoud you!
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. [b]Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Flash Videos in Safari on 2011 Macbook Air a NO GO!

I have installed the latest version of the Flash Player plugin on my brand new Macbook Air (Lion) and certain sites like IGN and StarWars.com wont play videos. What's funny is it will play the stupid advertisement first, but as soon as the main video tries to load, I get:
"201 unable to load stream or clip file connection... bla bla bla yata yata yata"
That happens on IGN. On StarWars.com, the video just wont play. I suspect its the same glitch though. Google Chrome plays these videos just fine from both sites. I only have problems in Safari, which is my main browser.
Has anyone else seen this happen and is there a way around it? I even tried installing Flash 11rc1 and the problem is still there. I also went into the Flash System Prefpane and cleared all the stored data since I read that sometimes helps. It's very annoying to have to switch browsers just to watch flash videos. Good thing this is a fast machine.

Using iCloud to sync bookmarks between your Mac and iPad?
If so, on the iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Swich Safari off then back on.
On your Mac, open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync your bookmarks.
If you are using iCloud, don't sync Safari bookmarks on iTunes. That could be why the bookmark tabs got emptied out.

  • Apple could you please find a solution for flash videos on safari

    dear apple,
apple i am really looking forward for looking up a solution for watching flash content on safari .
    best wishes
    TARIQ MOHAMED

You are not talking to Apple here, you need to send them feedback via the official channels.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Also, Adobe just announced that they are ceasing development on mobile flash for all devices, so there is no chance Flash will ever come to iOS.
Mobile Flash is dead, it's all about HTML5.

  • How to watch flash video on safari/mac without install flash?

    Hi mac people,
i think many people are asking about this too, but i didn't find a true/info article to show you how,
so I ask again in here hopefully someone can give me an true answer!
I don't want to install flash due to security and some other disadvantage mentioned by other,
but video uploaded to Facebook still using flash, and youtube opened in safari, some video showed only 240p, 360p, 720p, it doesn't show 480p,1080p and 4k or 60fps version, but when I install bogle chrome, everything look fine, I get vey those option available, I heard google chrome has built in flash/sandboxed flash, not sure how it's work, but google famous at tracking so I don't want to use google chrome, so guys any way to use safari to view all those things?
    Thanks!!!

You do realize Google owns YouTube, correct?
Don't install Flash Player if you don't want to use it. It's a dead technology and the sooner people stop using it, the better. Most websites no longer require Adobe Flash Player.

  • Flash videos on Safari?

    Hi,
I have been using this website. http://pokemonepisode.org/episode-16-pokemon-shipwreck/  to play some old videos of my favorite show... I was watching them today and It took a long time for them to stream so I let it load for like 30 mins and then played it. Some times it took longer. Some times it was really "chopped" playback... I thought if I uninstall the Flash Player and then Reinstall it, it would update and then load faster so I did. I finished the instalation process and then I go to the website and the video black box (where you would view the video and there would be a play button) wasn't even there anymore. Like I can't click on any video-type things. I don't understand what I need to do and I don't know who I need to ask about this... I really want to watch these videos. I tried to go to Youtube and see if it's all videos but it wasn't, just this website's. If it was working fine 4 hours ago and all i did was reinstall the Flash player thing then why would it not work now????
    Pleaseeee helpppp

    Hello,
Did you use the uninstaller provided by Adobe (it is in the Flash Player folder you downloaded) ?
    You can try to :
    - Empty the cache of Safari (in the menu bar choose Safari > Empty the cache...)
    - In Safari's Preferences pane delete all the cookies related to pokemonepisode.org (use the search bar in the Preferences pane)
    - In your System Preferences click on the Flash Player preferences and set it up like my screenshot below. In storage click on Delete All..., check the box with Delete All Site Data and Settings and click on Delete Data. Quit System Preferences.
    - Quit and restart Safari and see if it works.
    Hope this will help.

  • Flash videos maximising to massive dimension

Hi - any flash video in Safari on my vista 64 setup plays fine for me in a normal window, but when I maximise it (either on a site like youtube or here http://www.flashcomguru.com/apps/fullscreen_player9/fullscreen.html for example) the dimensions max right out, so I only see the top left quarter or so of the original video. I have the latest flash version installed (9.0 r124 - according to my plug-ins page) but this problem was happening prior to that too. Running fullscreen flash videos in firefox works absolutely fine.. I have tried unchecking hardware acceleration in the macromedia settings. One thing I'm thinking could be related is my screen dimension which is 2560x1600. I also have my dpi set really high, to 259, because I use my monitor in my lounge room as my tv etc... It's like safari thinks my screen's even bigger though. I just love the way safari renders pages and want to continue using it, but this is proving a deal breaker for me! Any advice greatly welcomed.

just another program glitch safari is not to hot with plug ins yet let hope something happens quickly, I am only using it at the moment because it is the only thing that runs properly on my comp but once i get round to fixing it back to another browser

  • Any Flash Videos don't work in Safari 5.1 anymore...

    Hi guys,
I did a fresh install of OS X Lion, and everything was working fine so far.
I even didn't have to install flash or so, the YouTube videos were working fine (CPU hungry as usual, but it was working).
Today, it suddently stoped to work. I tried to uninstall Flash, reinstall it but I can't get any flash videos... from any website.
However, everything works fine on Chrome... so it's weird.
The only thing I could think right now is the fact I did replace some Quicktime codec to add some format... Unfortunately, I didn't save the ones I replaced
It seems to be the only operation I did since the time it was working fine.
    1) Can someone confirm me that quicktime codec could mess up the Flash video playback in Safari and not in Chrome?
    2) Does anyone has the original quicktime codec to download? (from your /System/Library/Quicktime and from /Library/Quicktime folders)
Any help would be very welcomed
    Thanks,
    Phil

With help of someone else and hours and hours of hard fighting, I finally got it to work again by downloading and installing the new Flash 11 beta, available on Adobe Labs website...
I don't know if it did "fix" anything, but at least it works again...

  • Firefox crashes as soon as Flash video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure"

I am unable to use Youtube or view Flash video on any sites.
Firefox crashes/quits as soon as a video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure".
I have uninstalled Flash, downloaded a fresh version and installed, but no joy.
    I am using OS X 10.6.6.
    This is what I have tried so far;
    1. Repaired Permissions.
    2. Restarted with external drive and run Disk repair.
    3. Restarted with external drive and run DiskWarrior.
    4. Completely uninstalled Flash plugin. Robooted. Reinstalled Flash plugin. Rebooted.
    5. I even installed an earlier version of the plugin to see if there was some incompatibility with the latest version.
    6. Created a new user login and tried from there. Same problem.
    Any ideas?

You have what is necessary for Flash Player to be working. Firefox had some issues last year but it was after loading a video or the website. I had not heard of it lately and even last year don't recall it happening on the Macs.
What is happening with yours sounds like a direct conflict with some addon/extension.
Here is the link from Firefox describing what happened last year. You might want to see if there is anything more current.
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The%20Adobe%20Flash%20plugin%20has%20crashed?s=Firefo x+crashing+browser&as=s
I'll get the Mac troubleshooting guide in a minute and post it also.
Any adblock or popup blocker software would cause this also.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with Flash videos. They are only display in "Private Browsing" mode, in Safari 5.1.7

The symptoms is: The flash videos are only display with a full red bar and nothing happen, no video no sound nothing. The Flash player was upgrade with 11.2.202.235. before safari 5.1.7. I have an iMac with SL, and a Macbook with SL too. However after I upgraded safari 5.1.7 the flash videos are not display correctly, (only videos). The same happen in both computers.
I need to tell you that I follow all the possible recommendations that I founded in internent. I uninstall flash pug-in many times. I restore both. I switch many buttons and options like "reset safari", "empty cahe", "block pop-up windows", "enable java-script", "enable java". I turn off and on the firewall. I switch all the options in the flash player plug in preferences. And nothing. I turn on and off the plug ins. In fact I tried all the possibilities in the preferences menus from the programs.
In one occasion I had a glimpse of functionality for only one hour without problems after I reinstall safari from the Apple website, but only worked until I turned off the computer. The next day was the same problem.
After I fought with safari 5.1.7 and the plug-in flash player 11.2.202.235. Now I noticed something wired, only when I switch the "Private browsing" option in safari is when the videos are displayed correctly.
The same videos work perfectly in Firefox.
    Some Suggestions?

Thank you everybody, the problem was corrected in a unexpected way, I decided no to pay attention to the problem after a week fighting with that. I was navigating in a private browsing for two days. I turned the private browsing off again the next Monday, after a week I noticed that all the videos were display correctly, I do not have the problem again. That was wired because at the same time in the laptop everything is ok too. I have my extensions ON, Block Pop-up windows, In Flash payer all the options in ask....something. Only the option Disable Java script in not activated, only when I activate that option all videos are not display.
I think maybe I updated the computer and maybe something happened in the middle. I always update my imac and my macbook at the same time. There is a Flash removal security update in may 14. Maybe that fixed the problem.
Thanks to everybody, everything is ok now however I wanted to know what was the problem.

  • How to watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari

How do I watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari?

Once you have Chrome installed, activate the Develop menu in Safari (go to Safari Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Menu). You then will see under the Develop menu the Open Page With option and Chrome will be listed there.
So each time you open a page with Safari requiring Flash, you use that menu option to open the same page in Chrome.

  • I can't get flash videos to work on Daily Show website (using either Safari or Firefox) - latest version of Adobe flash.... can anyone help??

    Hi all,
I can't get the Daily Show videos to play (flash) on either Safari or Firefox on either of my macbook pro & macbook air.
I have the latest version of flash, tried reinstalling, restarting, cleaning out the cache but no dice.
    Can anyone help me?
    Kind regards, Renegade.

Works with no problem on my MacBook Air. Since it is happening on both browsers on both of your computers, have you considered the possibility that it may be something to do with your router?

I am having trouble running videos through Safari but not Google Chrome.  All I get is a black screen.  I have the latest adobe flash update and have enabled plug ins.  any suggestions?

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
    Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
    Now try a video.

  • Cursor disappears when a video using Flash is in Safari

    Hello,
My cursor disappears whenever I'm on a web page (using Safari) that uses Flash for video. It is 100% repeatable on any Flash/video website. On my other machine (an iMac running Snow Leopard) this does not happen.
If you would like to see what I'm talking about, as an example, go here:
    http://vimeo.com/
Let the page load so that the "introductory" video can play. While it's playing, move your cursor anywhere on top of the video that's playing and watch it disappear. It's hard to find it again.
    Any thoughts? Thanks.
(I'm using a MacBook Pro. Operating system is 10.7.1 Lion. All software updates are complete. The battery is charged, the computer is turned on, and it is plugged into electricity. I did a search of this forum and found one other question regarding this same topic, but nobody had answered it.)

The behaviour I get is that if the cursor is left on top of the video, it disappears after a second or two. As soon as I move the mouse or trackpad, it reappears.  Which is exactly what I would want to happen.  Perhaps when you are "waking up" the cursor you are doing so with a large random movement of the trackpad? It only takes the slightest movement to make it reappear more or less where you left it.
There is, of course, always the option of parking the cursor somewhere else on the screen where you will not lose it.
