Flash video not running in Captivate 7
Hi. I created an .swf file that has a short Flash video (.flv) file and audio file associated with the very first slide. The audio runs fine, but the .flv file does not run. Instead, I get "connection error" notice where the video should display.
Any clue why this is occurring and how I can get the .flv file to run?
Thanks,
- Michael Fekete
Placing video and audio on the very first slide of a project is never a good idea. Put them on the second slide at least. With video, you might end up significantly delaying the playback start if it's too heavy.
If you're testing this on your local hard drive, your issue might be due to Flash Global Security settings. Read this post:
http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/how-to-set-up-flash-global -security
If you're testing this from a web server, your issue might be that the web server is not set up to serve FLV files. Talk to your server admin to verify the FLV mime-type is supported. If you are able to link directly to the FLV file on the web server, try to play it in your browser directly. If that works, then the mime-type is supported but your connection error might be something else, e.g. using spaces in filenames, using mixed case filenames on a web server that doesn't handle mixed case without breaking links etc. Lots of potential reasons.

I'm using Windows 7 and Chrome and in the last day or so I've had no access at all to flash movies. I have the newest version of Chrome and the flash plugin. I've tried a number of things including enabling/disabling chrome plugins and it hasn't seemed to change anything. All flash video across the internet will not run.
When going here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html, nothing shows up in the box below 1. Not even an error message. Flash videos are not working in IE either, and I've tried reverting back to version 10.3 of the player. Some sites, including Adobe sites, behave as if I don't have flash installed and tell me to download it. Please, someone help!Wise of you to investigate in advance.
Your best bet by far nowadays is to get a laptop with hardware virtualization and either the Professional or Ultimate versions of Windows 7 installed. That way, you can use XP Mode.
Windows XP Mode (Toshiba)
Windows XP Mode (Microsoft)
You can even open an XP program directly from a shortcut in Windows 7.
For current models suitable to run XP Mode, I suggest you call ToshibaDirect at 888-520-3926.

Flash Video Not Playing in Captivate Project
I've put in a flv video at the beginning of a Captivate Project. When I press F4 from within the project, it works fine - flash video slide works, transitions into Captivate build, etc. However, when I publish the file as a Flash Project and then try and open the HTML link from within the published folder, I am told that there is a Connection Error. The project proceeds, progresses until the Captivate portion of the project comes up and works fine from there.
Any ideas or suggestions?Have you copied the FLV file into the same folder as the published SWF? Captivate doesn't do this automatically for you.

Why do Yahoo Flash videos not always run correctly in Chrome and Firefox/Windows 8?
I upgraded early last month to Windows 8 Pro.
Running Yahoo! News and other videos (Yahoo! Screen, etc.; virtually all Yahoo branded products) I get a black screen, no error message on Chrome and Firefox. The videos run correctly on Internet Explorer.
I have not found a way to run these videos at all in Firefox or the 64-bit Waterfox.
In Chrome, I can DISABLE the internal Pepper-based Flash player and the videos will run (but nothing ELSE will: no YouTube, etc.)
I can keep a plug-ins page open in Chrome and repeatedly enable and disable the internal Flash player; I can copy and paste the URL for what I'm watching back into IE...or perhaps some kind and knowing person here will have a better idea. For me, I sense a bug somewhere. BTW...this machine dual-boots Win8 and WIn7. The problem does not exist in Win7. Please don't suggest going back to Win7; that's a VERY mature (translate SLOW and quirky; survived repeated change of motherboard and other major components) install that I'm continually weaning myself away from and rarely boot into it anymore (Win8 boots from SSD and is blazingly fast, Win7 not so much).
I have not found any site other than the ENTIRE Yahoo site that has this problem!
Jay from the BronxI'm back! Actually, this issue has been happening to me every now & then but I'd just given up on dealing with it. But now I'm motivated again.
I clicked on a video link in Facebook that sent me to NASCAR | Facebook which turns from the https URL to those two words on this site for some odd reason, and it just popped a box telling me saying Flash Player Upgrade Required - Get Flash Player and the video's image never displayed under that and it couldn't be played.
Then once again I went thru all of the steps to insure that both I do actually have Flash Player and that it is Enabled. I do and it is. I also read somewhere to click the gear icon in IE then click Safety > ActiveX Filtering. I do that and I see a checkmark next to ActiveX Filtering. I've tried it both with a checkmark and without one and there's no difference.
I have Windows 8.1 fully updated, IE-11 and Flash Player
I see the swinging tire swing image in #5. Verify if Flash Player is installed at Flash Player Help. -
Flash swf not running properly in captivate
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is a flash question or a captivate question so I'm posting it to both forums. I have numerous flash cs5 built swfs inserted into a captivate 5 project. All of them are running fine apart from this one. It runs perfectly outside of captivate but within the captivate swf it goes haywire. It's a very simple fla. The only actionscript involved is a stop action. There is a movie clip that uses a number of classic tweens and then there is a layer containing textual explanations for what's happening in the movie clip. When I run my captivate project the swf does one or other of the following:
a) it runs but the movie clip starts earlier than the text and so they are out of synch
b) the text runs as normal but the movie clip does not run at all
c) it only shows the final frame of the swf and nothing else happens.
As I say, it is a very simple fla and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's wrong. I don't seem to be able to attach the fla here, so if anybody thinks they may be able to help please pm me with your email address and I will email you the fla file.
Just to note some of the things I have already considered: the text is all set to classic rather than TLF. The captivate project and the fla both publish as3 at 12fps for flash player 9.
yours hopefully!

Flash installed and up to date however flash does not run on any web browser
I was catching up on watching a televsion show and watching it with no issues/no problems with flash before. I went to the website below and all of a sudden flash is not working. I did not change any settings, run any updates. I checked various browsers, flash content is not working on any of them. I can view youtube videos however just about any other site I've tried, nothing and many websites will not display correctly. I tried some of the troubleshooting suggestions in the forum however some of them I'm unable to do such as alter the flash settings, it takes me to the page but tells me I don't have Flash installed. I've tried switching user accounts on my pc as others have said flash works for them on the other account however mine is still broken. I've actually tried a system restore, still no luck.
Windows 8 (64 bit)
Flash Version 11.9.900.152
Tried web browsers IE, Firefox, Chrome - I've verified it is enabled
Active X is disabled
I've ran the 'test' to verify Flash is installed and it displays the video
I ran the debugger however I do not know how to interpret the data.
PLEASE HELP!!

1Hi there
Sorry, but you aren't in the right place for getting help with this. Try clicking the link below and choose a forum dedicated to Adobe Flash.

Best of luck to you in resolving your issue! Rick -
Since last 3 days youtube video is not running in my safari 7.0.5 - OS X 10.9.4, I tried all things but still the issue remains, what should i do ?
Unless you mention exactly what you have tried that didn't work, we have no way of knowing.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. If that doesn't help, back to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video. -
Flash Video not playing in IE6
I have a flash video embedded in my page that plays fine in
FF and IE7, however when loading the page in IE6 the video is
absent (the "red x" is in its place) and I receive the message
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls
on this page. As a result the page may not display correctly."
Now, this happens in IE6 only on the default security
settings. I have other sites that embed flash video and play fine
in IE6 without warning...they weren't created with Dreamweaver CS3
though.
What is triggering this in IE 6 and can I remove some code
from my page to prevent this?
Thanks for any help to what is probably a noobish
question.> "Your current security settings prohibit running
> ActiveX controls on this page. As a result the page may
not display
> correctly."
This would only be in local preview, right?

When I try to go to a flash video, the video player never seems to recognize my mouse clicks without several tries.
It's hard to explain but if I'm at a youtube video and i place my cursor over the button that lets you skip around the video, the cursor will alternate being a cursor (like its not recognized) and a hand like its supposed to. It's sort of keeps flickering between the two if I move the mouse around on that little skip button.
I tried uninstalling firefox but it didn't make a difference. I noticed it after updating to the newer firefoxe updates. This does not happen under IE.

I’ve been making a couple of websites that need to
stream a little bit of Flash video. So I put together a little
Flash video selector swf using the simplest code (it has nothing
more than go to and play commands on the buttons and stop commands
on the timeline).
I’m also using the standard Flash wizard to stream the
video files using the low quality pre-sets on the transcoding.
I’ve used this method before and it seemed to work, but now
when I’m testing these sites in IE the Flash element seems to
crash all the time and freeze up the whole browser or the video
just doesn’t display. The weird thing is it usually plays the
first video but when you click the button to move to another it
crashes.
Here’s a couple of sites that it’s happening on

– they work fine in Firefox, but not in IE. Has anyone
seen this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated…
KieranThanks. I'm not clear where you're referring to. There are currently two object tags. One has <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"...> like you describe. The other has a different format.
I'm not clear on what/where I'm supposed to change.
Thanks...

Flash Player not running/installing
So far, on two computers, I have had this problem.
I have no problem downloading the software, I even installed it on two computers.
However, when I go to install it on a few computers in my work environment, it will ask to run and not run. I sat for ten minutes waiting for it to run and it wouldn't. Both are XP's, sp3, 1GB, IE8.
Does anyone have any idea's?Download offline installer: Where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 11 for Windows or Macintosh?

Flash videos not playing correctly
I posted some flash videos to some sites that get a
tremendous amount of website traffic. We are getting feedback that
the flash videos do not play consitently. Some people can see them
just fine, others cannot see the videos at all, for others -
particulary in Firefox, the video asks to download rather than
play. We created the videos using Flash 9 - importing the FLV file
and saving as an swf. We do not really see any type of pattern
across browsers.
Any advice? Not loading correctly in what way?

When I visit sites like '''ign.com''' and '''joystiq.com''', they do not display correctly and Flash videos never load. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled twice to version 9.0.1 with no change. The second time I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to help make sure I got rid of all registry entries and residual files. Does anyone know if this is a recent bug? This started for me about noon yesterday...
