Flash video not uploaded to my website

Hello
I am very new at this and i am actually learning via videos tutorials. I developed a website in flash cs3. The website was uploaded but the flash video and an external swf file is not visible on the site. These flash videos are however visible when i test the movie in flash. I uploaded into server the an html index page, the swf files to the server. My website is www.foxwildlife.com. Please help.

The most common problem with Flash working when testing but not from the server is that the pathing to some of the Flash assets (videos, xml files, etc.) is that the path to those assets is wrong, being set relative to the .swf and not the Web page, as it should be.
The second most common problem is that some of the files just were not uploaded. For example, you need to upload all the .flv video files, not just the .swf that plays them.
For review:
Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

    You upload files to your hosting server, not to individual
    pages. If you
    can "upload to one page" on that server, then you should be
    able to "upload
    to all pages" on that server. In other words, you are
    uploading to
    hmstechnology.com. The HTML on the page itself then finds the
    file you just
    uploaded on the path specified in the link. Ask your host for
    help with
    this one - it doesn't sound like a DW problem.

  • Flash video not showing on website after upload

    I created a short flash video using Flash8 and used
    DreamWeaver8 to insert it into my web page. I can preview the page
    in any browser using the "preview in browser" function of
    DreamWeaver. It plays perfectly. However, when I upload the page to
    my website the modified web page appears but there is nothing where
    the Flash Video should be.
    I upload in the following manner: Since I do all my web site
    construction while away from the home server, I use my laptop to
    modify things and then use a remote signin to my home computer that
    is hosting the website which gives me access to my home computer's
    (My Server) website folders. I then move a copy of the modified
    page containing the Flash Video, the Video.swf file, and the
    Video.fla file into the website files on the home server.
    Why wont it play?
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi I have a similar problem, imported a medium res flv clip
    into flash, the clip is about 1Meg, works fine when playing back
    the local flash site but does not work via server. A very simple

  • Websites not loading correctly and flash videos not playing

    When I visit sites like '''ign.com''' and '''joystiq.com''', they do not display correctly and Flash videos never load. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled twice to version 9.0.1 with no change. The second time I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to help make sure I got rid of all registry entries and residual files. Does anyone know if this is a recent bug? This started for me about noon yesterday...

  • Flash video not working in IE

    I’ve been making a couple of websites that need to
    stream a little bit of Flash video. So I put together a little
    Flash video selector swf using the simplest code (it has nothing
    more than go to and play commands on the buttons and stop commands
    on the timeline).
    I’m also using the standard Flash wizard to stream the
    video files using the low quality pre-sets on the transcoding.
    I’ve used this method before and it seemed to work, but now
    when I’m testing these sites in IE the Flash element seems to
    crash all the time and freeze up the whole browser or the video
    just doesn’t display. The weird thing is it usually plays the
    first video but when you click the button to move to another it
    crashes.
    Here’s a couple of sites that it’s happening on
    http://www.virtual360.org/v360/1.html
    http://www.virtual360.org/video.asp
    – they work fine in Firefox, but not in IE. Has anyone
    seen this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated…

    Thanks. I'm not clear where you're referring to. There are currently two object tags. One has <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"...> like you describe. The other has a different format.
    I'm not clear on what/where I'm supposed to change.

  • Flash Video problem on one particular website.

    I am trying to play Progressive Download video on a website.
    I do this
    at least 20 times a month .. no issues. This one site will
    not show up and
    I have redone the page approx. 20 times with no results in
    any browser.
    The page is in my root .. the FLV is in a folder called video
    .. the script
    is in the Scripts folder. The ProgressiveFLV and skin swfs
    are in the main
    folder.
    I use an identical configuration on other sites on the same
    server with no
    problem. It tests perfectly in localhost. But nothing shows
    up on the
    server.
    and YES .. I DID FTP the scripts folder. I solve this problem
    for people
    every day of the week .. but I can't get this site to work.
    Any thoughts?

  • Flash video not loading in IE and Chrome

    Hi,
    I have published a simple flash video page and uploaded it to my website.
    It works fine in Firefox but in IE and Chrome it seems to load the first 10 seconds i.e the loading bar goes grey for a small section, Then the buffering comes up and the video doesn't load.
    I've upgraded my flash player to the latest one. Cleared my history and opened my browser again.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks

    i see the same problem with all three browsers:  that video won't play unless the an initial portion has already been cached.
    to remedy, play and pause your video.  after a 3 seconds * bitrate of your video has cached, play your video

  • Flash videos not playing correctly

    I posted some flash videos to some sites that get a
    tremendous amount of website traffic. We are getting feedback that
    the flash videos do not play consitently. Some people can see them
    just fine, others cannot see the videos at all, for others -
    particulary in Firefox, the video asks to download rather than
    play. We created the videos using Flash 9 - importing the FLV file
    and saving as an swf. We do not really see any type of pattern
    across browsers.
    Any advice?

  • Flash Video Not rending in IE 7 or 8

    I have a website, and on one of my pages, TV commercials, I embedded Flash videos from my YouTube channel. I tested on all browsers, and everything is fine except for Internet Explorer. I get the red X for where the videos are supposed to be. What gives? I tried to update the flash video player in Internet explorer. It is definetely something with IE. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.
    My Page:
    http://harrisonmarketingmd.com/portfolio/tvads/tv.html

    The reason is because of an error in a javascript file created by Dreamweaver. The name of the file is "AC_RunActiveContent.js" you'll find it in a folder on the site named "scripts"
    You need to modify line #5 in that script. You open the file with any tecxt editor ... like Notepad, but NOT like MS Word!!!
    You will see on line 1 that the file version is 1.7  (I have already looked at YOUR file, and I know this is what's wrong.
    OK line 5 says:
    var isIE  = (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE") != -1) ? true : false;
    you need to change it to this:
    var isIE  = (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1) ? true : false;
    Then save it. And I recommend making a backup copy, because Dreamweaver will overwrite it if you edit your site again.
    Briefly, what happened is this:  The class: "navigator.appVersion.indexOf" holds a string of what browser is being used to read the page. The value "MSIE" is wrong, Internet Explorer uses the string "Microsoft". Later on another function is called which relies on that variable, and since it got the wrong value to begin with, subsequent references to that variable "isIE" will fail.
    Older versions of  "AC_RunActiveContent.js" didn't use that variable, and the subsequent function(s) were also different. So the problem wasn't present. If for some freak reason, some version of IE would in fact return "MSIE" you can check for both by writing line 5 as:
    var isIE  = (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1 && navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE") != -1) ? true : false;
    OK?  That's all you need to do, and what ADOBE needs to do is fix Dreamweaver so it writes the *.js file correctly

  • Issues with photos/videos not uploading in chronological order..

    I have been having issues with Adobe Bridge not uploading my photo/video files (from a CF card) in chronological order. When uploading I select to rename the files by shot date + 01.. etc. For photos the first image then becomes the last image after uploading, and for video files everything is out of order. Not sure why as the only other thing I have selected to add is copyright info. Also having issues with Bridge not converting raw files to DNG (which has led me to use Adobe DNG Converter - not terrible, but hopefully there is a reason?). I think it is a problem with Bridge, as photos uploaded to my website - something completely non-Adobe related are also then thrown out of order.. so it seems to be an issue with files that have come through Bridge at some point. Any advice is much appreciated.

    I just noticed that iTunes is now accepting 'some' videos. They are all the same file type (mp4), but iTunes is just randomly choosing which videos it wants add to the Library & not.
    I'm still not getting any results when it comes to the Photos.
    ... and one last thing ... only random songs are displaying the album art on the iPod. Yhey ALL appear in iTunes. If i restore my iPod & re-load everything, some of the songs that DID have artwork appearing on the screen now don't.
    This is really messed up! Wonder if the eventual Vista-compatible iTunes will fix this problem ...

  • Flash Video not showing on Server

    Hi, wonder if anyone can help on this one. Going round in circles. Not sure why, should be simple enough.
    I have created a Flash Video in Flash 8 and published and picked up in Dreamweaver 8. Published files were sample.swf, sample.html and SteelExternalAll.swf (skin). Publish settings were: Format - Flash SWF and HTML; default Flash settings with local playback security set to access local files only; default HTML settings.
    In Dreamweaver, sample.html is accessed via an iframe in test.php. In Preview mode, everything is as it should be with the Video showing. The problem is, when I upload all the files to the Server, the video is not displayed including the skin. Instead, all I get is the border of the iframe with a red rectangle showing where the video should be.
    Hope someone can help. Pulling my hair out on this one and get the feeling there is a simple explanation.
    Thank you in advance.

    First get the video to play in the web page that you accessing in iframe;
    http://79.170.40.41/booksat.com/videos/elaine.html
    For testing purposes get rid of all that old, outdated Flash detection code and instead just use:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>Elaine</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <object data="elaine.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="345"><
      param name="movie" value="elaine.swf">
    </object>
    </body>
    </html>
    No skin but you should at least see the video... worry about the skin later....
    But you also need to make sure that you have all the files uploaded, the .swf, the skin .swf and the .flv video file and that they are pathed correctly. Keep in mind that pathing to the Flash assets need to be relative to the Web page that the .swf video player is on, NOT the physical location of the .swf or the .flv file.
    But get the video playing correctly on the elaine.html before you consider putting it in an iframe.

  • Flash Video not visible

    Hello
    Apologies for posting yet another request for help with
    putting Flash Video on a web page! I've spent hours trying to
    figure out where I've gone wrong, read through many messages and
    tried to follow all suggestions, updated to DMW 8.0.2, ensured the
    scripts folder, flv and swf files are uploaded but still get a
    blank page online. I'm totally mystified and frustrated. Trying to
    see the page online the activity monitor in Safari says the
    following files are loaded:
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Halo_Skin_2.swf
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Pinochet.html
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/pinochet_S.flv
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
    Background: I exported the clip from Final Cut Pro as a Flash
    Video using the on2 VP6 codec and in Dreamweaver used
    Insert>Media>Flash Video.
    Previously I have managed to successfully post video this way
    on the internet but I was using an earlier version of Dreamweaver
    (MX 2004), Sorenson Spark and slightly smaller files. I just don't
    know what I am doing wrong this time and would be VERY grateful of
    any help.
    The web page is
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/Pinochet.html

    Your file -
    http://www.eyeeyeltd.com/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
    is flawed, somehow. It's not calling for the FLV file, and is
    therefore a
    blank. Try remaking it.

  • When I try to play a flash video (like youtube) i have to click a flash button several times before it works. Why do flash videos not recogonize any clicks without several tries first?

    When I try to go to a flash video, the video player never seems to recognize my mouse clicks without several tries.
    It's hard to explain but if I'm at a youtube video and i place my cursor over the button that lets you skip around the video, the cursor will alternate being a cursor (like its not recognized) and a hand like its supposed to. It's sort of keeps flickering between the two if I move the mouse around on that little skip button.
    I tried uninstalling firefox but it didn't make a difference. I noticed it after updating to the newer firefoxe updates. This does not happen under IE.
    thank you for your help.

    While you are in safe mode;
    Press the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Followed by;
    Windows; '''Tools > Options'''
    Linux; '''Edit > Preferences'''
    Mac; ''application name'' '''> Preferences'''
    Then '''Advanced > General.'''
    Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
    Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.
