Flash Video on the Network

Hello Flash Users:
Does Flash Video have any negative impact on an
organization's network?
Can Flash Video cause bandwidth drain when uploaded to an
on-site Web server?
RS

Of course - they are files just like anything else. Put a 5
meg PDF on your intranet and the bandwidth drain would be exactly
the same as a 5 meg flash video. Most companies have the capacity
to handle it though.

  • No sound on flash videos on the internet after suspend and hibernate

    I have this:
    00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
    Everytime I resume from suspend or hibernate with firefox open alongside with fully loaded flash videos, playing the videos doesn't produce any sound anymore.  I need to restart firefox in order to make it work again..:(
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help in advance

    I'm also having this problem.  Xfmedia plays audio just fine before and after suspend/resume, but pandora.com and hulu.com in firefox do not.  Also noticed that CPU usage skyrockets when trying to restart audio/video after resume in pandora/hulu.  In hulu, video restarts, but audio does not.
    Interestingly, CPU usage also spikes if I restart audio in Xfmedia after resume, but the CPU hog is firefox not Xfmedia and Xfmedia audio plays just fine.  Have to close the hulu or pandora tab to get the CPU usage back to normal.  Wondering if it's just a bug in flash for linux.

  • This laptop cannot run Flash video on the BBC website

    On this Vista laptop, I try to watch video of the Japan earthquake on the BBC website. But each video just shows a momentary red swirl, and then stays black.
    I have the identical problem on FF4.0RC, and there I can also run it in 'Safe Mode', with all addons disabled. With or without addons, it behaves the same as 3.6.15; no video.
    However, on the W7 laptop beside the Vista one, everything is fine, and the video runs in all three combinations there.
    The Vista laptop will show Flash video from YouTube perfectly OK, so it seems to be something to do with how the BBC site presents video.
    However, as the W7 laptop has no problems with the BBC site, it seems to be some configuration issue on the Vista laptop, rather than a general Firefox or BBC problem, or indeed, anything to do with my broadband set-up. (I'm guessing it's more subtle that just Vista vs. W7 here, as there are many other differences between the two laptops).
    I have watched video on the BBC site in the past, but that was a few Firefoxes ago. I also note the BBC videos will not run in IE8 on this laptop at the moment, though they are fine on the W7 laptop in IE9 (though I don't think the 9 has anything to do with it)
    Has anyone any suggestions as to what might be stopping the Vista laptop from showing the BBC videos?

  • Flash causes pc to freeze when playing 2 youtube videos or flash videos at the same time

    I dont know what has caused this issue but since around january my pc has been freezing to the point where i have to hard reset if i play 2 youtube videos or any flash videos at the same time. the whole pc becomes unresponsive when this happens. all my drivers are up to date so i dont know where this issue is coming from.
    My specs:
    Browser- Firefox 28.0
    OS: Windows 7 home edition 64 bit
    Case: Raidmax Platinum
    Motherboard:ASUS M5A99X EVO AM3
    CPU: AMD fx 8350 (4.6ghz oc)
    Cpu Cooler: ZALMAN CNPS10X Performa 120mm
    GPU: msi GTX 670 power edition
    power Supply: Kingwin Kx 1000w
    RAM:2x4gb(8gb) CORSAIR Vengeance240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
    HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb and 640gb
    Bluray: LG Bluray Drive & Burner

    There's two ways you can go about this Amanda.
    1. Set the length of your images for example 8 seconds each. Offset the photo's like a ladder effect and add the animating keyframes. The red dots in the image below represent the start/finish points of the animation.
    2. The other option is to set the length of all the same, then use keyframes to set the start/ finish of the animation.
    I always use example 1, however example 2 would probably be easier to understand?
    Hope that helps

  • Inserting a Flash video and the Bandwidth Monitor

    I am new to Captivate, and I want to be sure I'm following
    some practical guidelines for inserting Flash video in my Captivate
    slides.
    I know there are quite a few variables relating to practical
    bandwidth usage--basically, we are creating elearning presenations
    that will have "talking head" videos embedded within. These
    presentations will be available for download via our LMS site, both
    within the US and overseas.
    I have utilized Captivate's Bandwidth Monitor to gauge the
    bandwidth hit each video slide is responsible for. However, I don't
    believe the numbers I'm getting back: because I've set each
    embedded video to "Pause slide till end of video", all the slides
    are reporting the same length in seconds, KB per sec and Video KB
    numbers.
    Can someone suggest a practical method for setting up the
    videos such that the Bandwidth Monitor can interpret them
    correctly? Can you also suggest a rule of thumb for maximum length
    for each slide with an embedded video (320 X 240) in it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Carl

  • Please allow us to watch flash video on the iPad.

    This is ridiculous. I can't view the majority of non-YouTube video media on the web because of this juvenile dispute. For 800 dollars I expect a media viewer that does as advertised. You risk losing your market to the samsung galaxy as a result of this.
    Please include flash support in the next update. Give us the choice of turning it on or off.

    Adobe is no longer making Flash for any mobile devices. Look in the App Store for alternatives.

  • No matter how many uninstalls and reinstalls Firefox 4 will not play flash videos w the latest flash plugin installed. What do I do to get flash videos to play like everyone esle can?

    Trying to solve my non-playing flash videos wherever I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1, such as CNN or anywhere really while surfing. Even at the Adobe web site I cannot play demo videos and I own CS4 Suite. I can play any YouTube video I select.
    I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1. Don't tell me to UNINSTALL then REINSTALL the flash player as I have done that too many times.
    I logged out and logged into my clean account where I install nothing. No joy.
    What the heck is the problem? No one else seems to have this problem as I am told many play CNN videos fine.

  • HT6074 How can I watch flash Videos with the ipad with safari?

    I Have an iPad an I'll watch flash Videos with this. But there is no Flashplayer. Is there any Plugin?

    There is no Flashplayer for any iOS device and there never will be. Flash is replaced on iOS devices by HTML5 which is a superior technology endorsed by both Apple and Microsoft as well as almost everyone else in the industry except Adobe.

  • No full screen button for many flash videos (with the exception of youtube).

    I am using windows 8.1. I have updated flash and firefox. I can watch full screen videos on youtube but on sites like thedailyshow.com or southparkstudios.com there is no full screen button (only a cc button). I can find the button in chrome but not in ie or ff.

    If I understand correctly, your instructions enable a web page to be viewed in full screen. I'm having trouble viewing videos in full screen. No button exists to expand a video. I can expand any video on any browser on YouTube but the button isn't there when watching videos on sites like dailyshow.com or southparkstudios.com (it's there in Chrome but not in ff or ie, which leads me to believe it's not an Adblock plus, et al issue.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Capturing video to a file while transmitting it over the network

    I have tried several ways to do this but non of them have worked. On the JMF Programmers Guide its stated that one could do something like this: creating a processor from a DataSource, and the taking two Datasources from the processor, one is used to transmitt the video over the network, and the other is used to save the data to a file(through a DataSink).
    One of the ways I've tried is to clone de DataSource before creating the Processor. I've also tried to clone the Data source after creating and realizing the processor. The other way I've tried is by using the JMFSolution "Video Capture Utility with Monitoring", found at the jmf's homepage, which intercepts the data carried from the capture data source to the Processor.
    Non of these have worked, and I always get Exceptions about not finding a DataSink for the DataSource I use. For example:
    "javax.media.NoDataSinkException: Cannot find a DataSink for: com.sun.media.multiplexer.RawBufferMux$RawBufferDataSource@d9850" ;
    "javax.media.NoDataSinkException: Cannot find a DataSink for: com.sun.media.vfw.PushBufferDataSource@1e45"
    I've search the Web triying to find something clear about capturing video to a file while transmitting it over the network, but nothing seems to work.
    I would appreciate a piece of an advice on this.

    you can try modifing de Capture example from JMF Solutions.
    change this function:
    public int startCapture() {
         int result = -1;
         enableComponents(false);
         buttonStart.setLabel("Pause");
         buttonEnd.setEnabled(true);
         startMonitoring();
         try {
    processor.start();
    DataSource clone = Manager.createCloneableDataSource(datasource);
         MediaLocator ml2 = new MediaLocator("file://capture.mov");
    System.out.println("Content Type " + clone.getContentType());
    datasink = Manager.createDataSink(processor.getDataOutput(), ml2);
         datasink.open();
    datasink.addDataSinkListener(this);
         datasink.start();
    result = 0;
         } catch (Exception e) {
         System.err.println("DataSink Exception " + e);
    result= -1;
    Regards.

  • How can I save an Adobe Flash video to my hardrive?

    My son was recently featured in a TV segment, and the link is to a flash video on the station's website. How can I save this so we'll have this after the link is no longer valid?

    You may not be able to. Most news networks use scripting to prevent downloads of their video feeds (copyirght laws and stuff)
    You can try Ant Video Downloader for Firefox (it's NOT available for IE, but it IS for Firefox and Chrome)
    If it doesn't work, contact news station. That's what I do. My brother is on the news from time to time bbecause of his work and they simply provide me with embed code to the videos so I can put them on his website. Here's why I mention this: I was told by the ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates that they NEVER delete those videos. Only an act of god destroying their servers will ever remove them, and even then they have backups.

  • Cp4 - Retain more than 1 Flash Video in slide to view independently

    I have 3 rollover slidelets that each have a Flash video in each.  The slidelet that contains the flash video is 'not visable' - (options properties).
    The concept:  The user hovers the mouse over one of three buttons.  When finding the one to play the button is clicked to displayed the slidelet and flash video.   The user then clicks on the video playbar to run the video. I 'loop' the video so that the video stays within the slide. I now want to select another clip, so I pause the open video and then click on another button.  What happens is that this action closes the slide and moves onto the next slide.
    I want to allow the user to select any video clip and play them at any time without closing the slide and moving to the next slide.
    Slide 1 showing the positioning of the buttons and rollover slidelets containing the flash videos
    Slide 2 shows the published slide ready for user activity
    Kind regards,
    s9500aol

    Hi there
    When you insert a Rollover Slidelet you get two objects on the stage. Just click OK on that dialog you posted and you will see. One object is the area your user mouses over. The other area presents what the user sees. The slidelet area has its own Timeline. You click the Slidelet area and it gains focus. You then insert the objects into this area.

  • Flash Content on the BBC in Safari 5.0.6

    This question applies to my G5 2.5 gHz Tower running Safari 5.0.6. and an issue with Flash content on the BBC News website.
    I often the BBC News website, and until a few months ago was able to play all of their video content.  For some inexplicable reason their website now tells me I do not have the minimum Flash version (10.1.0) for playback.  However, I do have the minimum Flash installation (v.10.1.102.64) as confirmed by the Adobe web site, and, seconded by the simple fact that Firefox 3.6.25 on the very same computer does play all the content at the BBC News web site and fails to generate any warnings.
    So, Mac gurus and assorted experts who have earned my depest respect... what's going on?  I have written to those in charge of the BBC News web site and indications are they probably didn't read my message past the subject line as they proceeded to ask me all the questions they'd have had answers to by reading my message in the first place.  In short, they asked me to upgrade to Flash 10.1.0... so that route is not going solve my problem.
    Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
