Flash video output(export to .FLV)  Is it still possible to do?

In order to show videos on older IE browsers I need to be able to export to .flv.  Has this capability been discontinued and if so is there a new way to accomplish this.

Hi,
More information here: removal of FLV and F4V export features from Adobe Media Encoder, After Effects, and Premiere Pro | After Effects regio…
Thanks,
Rameez

flash video cannot be loaded. the output may not be proper
What does this mean? I am inserting .flv files so why do I
get this message when I try to publish captivate projects? What can
    I do about it?

I stumbled across a solution to this in a moment of desperation. If you put the video file back into Adobe media encoder and convert it to an FLV (even if the file is already an FLV), then it seems to sort itself out.
When you insert a video file, like an mp4, captivate automatically configures it as an FLV so my assumption is that the "not proper" error happens because of something (bad magic, maybe) during this process. Since discovering this I always encode videos as FLVs in Adobe Media encoder before inserting them into the captivate file. Not had a problem like this since (touch wood).

  • Flash Video with DVD-like motion menus -- Is this possible?

    Hi all,
I just joined this gropup. I have some SMIL 2.0 presentations
with synchnorized multiple audio (several languages supported) and
video as well as DVD-like still and motion menus. These are
semi-transparent menus and actually are super-imposed over main
playback area (root layout in SMIL).
Can Flash Video has menus in it?
Can this type of a/v synchronization and menuing be done in
    Flash Video?
I don't want to write as SWF with menus since clips and # of
menus on screen and placement might be different from video to
video. These are for some training videos.
To give a background, in SMIL I have an application server
(Jboss) which is dynamically creating SMIL based upon database,
user inputs and menu selections. What is basically sent back to the
browser is SMIL page markup including playlist of clips up to next
menu point. Once all clips are watched and user selects menu button
to continue then a new SMIL is generated and processs repeated.
I am thinking off porting this over to Flash Video because
currently clients need RealPlayer (has SMIL 2.0) support to be
downloaded and installed. Another local app to manage!
    Any ideas or recommendations?
    Thanks and kindest regards,
    -Mark

You can build interactive DVDs with video and audio, but no Word documents (at least not as part of the interactivity). DVD SP can certainly be used to create interactive DVDs. The advantage is that interactivity will extend to DVD players, not just computers.
If you want very rich interactive content, with Word docs, PDFs, etc. Then the best program would be Director. However there are some caveats with Director.
    1) The learning curve for Director is extremely steep. You would be better off hiring a freelancer who already knows the program, then spending all the time learning all the ins and outs of the program.
    2) Director is essentially a dead program. Since Adobe acquired it a couple of years ago, they have made no upgrades of the program. Nor have they made any announcements on continued development.
    3) The content you develop will only be playable on computers, not DVD players.

  • Problem Inserting Flash Video (flv) File into Site

    Hi -
I'm having problems inserting a Flash Video (.flv) into my webpage.  I'm using Dreamweaver 8.
I'm going to: Insert -  Media - Flash Video, browsing to the .flv file that's in my local site folder, entering the settings.
In Dreamweaver, there's a big gray box w/ flv icon in the middle.  But when I go to preview, the screen is empty, no video.
I'm creating the .flv file w/ Screen Mimic (a screen capture recording software).  This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.  This is the first video that I've made that I'm trying to insert.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.
    thanks!
    Stacey Stanley

This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.
That would my guess too. Here are few other things to consider:
    1)  Does your FLV filename contain any spaces or special characters?  If so, rename it without spaces as these can cause problems.
    2)  Output Screen Mimic project to a QuickTime MOV file.  Then use Adobe Flash Encoder to convert the MOV to FLV.
    3)  When you tested your page, was it a live page on remote server?  Did you upload the page and all supporting files to server (Scripts folder, SWF, FLV...)?

  • Flash video export to use in premiere, issues

I am working on a project who's intended finished location will be youtube- 4:3 aspect, 320x240. It involves taking an animation produced in flash, editing it in premiere, then saving as a final file
since my aspect ratio is 4:3, I made my .fla file 500x375 pixels. 30 fps. I then exported the video in quicktime in 'Animation' mode, 30 fps. I can only assume that this exports as a square pixel ratio?
I created a new project in premiere. Desktop Mode, 30fps, 500x375, square pixels. However, when I import the flash video (.mov exported from flash, not .flv) it over-extends the edges of my premiere stage. I also tried making a premiere project in .9 NTSC pixel ratio, same other settings, but the problem was even more pronounced.
Any help on the correct settings to use? for either side?

good call, turns out it's not exporting at 500x375 like I tell it to. Instead, it exports to 640x480. The .fla document size is 500x375... yet when I go to quicktime export settings, it says 550x400. And when it finishes export, it's 640x480. huh??
well, I guess I can make my premiere project 640x480, not going to matter much when the final product is 320x240. I just can't figure out why it insists on exporting to 640x480

  • Assistance Setting Presets for Exporting to .FLV

I need assistance in customizing the presets for exporting a file to .flv format. Here is what I need Abode to export TO:
    .flv
    320x240
    4:3
    800kbps
    29-97 fps
    audio - 44 khz 66kbps stereo

    Jesse_Martinez(Calvary)
    Your requirements are stated as
    .flv
    320x240
    4:3
    800kbps
    29-97 fps
    audio - 44 khz 66kbps stereo
You can accomplish nearly all in Premiere Elements 12, but there is a problem achieving the exact audio sampling rate/bitrate combination that you list.
In Premiere Elements 12, go to Publish+Share/Computer/Adobe Flash Video and select Presets = FLV - Web Large NTSC Source (Flash 8 or Higher)  On2VP6 MP3 FLV
Under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, make adjusts
Remove the link between Frame Width and Height and type in
    Frame Width = 320
    Frame Height = 240
Bitrate = 800 kbps (kilobits per second)
Under the Advanced Button/Audio Tab, make adjusts
    Output Channel = Stereo
Bitrate Settings - now here is where it get tricky...there is no set for sampling rate/frequency = 44 KHz or other. And, there is no audio bitrate of 66 kbps (closest is 64 kbps), There appears to be a sampling rate associated with the export, but viewable once you have the export and look at its properties in a program such as MediaInfo.
    Here is what I found
if the audio bitrate = 64 kbps, then the sampling rate is 22.05 KHz
if the audio bitrate = 80 kbps, then the sampling rate is 22.05 KHz
if the audio bitrate = 96 kbps, then the sampling rate is 44.1 KHz
if the audio bitrate = 128 kbps, then the sampling rate is 44.1 KHz
Are there trade offs for you or must you have those exact values that you posted?
    H.264 AAC F4V
If you were to export your Timeline as F4V, then you would have the opportunity to set sampling rate 44.1 KHz and bitrate 64 kbps.
We can discuss other not mentioned settings later once we have worked through the core ones.
    Please review.
    Thanks.

  • Insert Flash Video

Using Dreamweaver 8 I have created a site with PHP/MySQL that
is similar to YouTube. I am using the database to store the
filename for each uploaded FLV. I have a search page which will
return results listing page, and then go to a details page when one
of the results is clicked. So, on my details page, I want to insert
an FLV player using the Insert>Media>Flash Video function in
Dreamweaver. This brings up the window where you browse for your
FLV file and select a skin, etc. When I click on Browse, another
window pops up which allows you to navigate to the file, but also
gives you the option to Select file name from Data Sources. When I
choose data sources and select the appropriate field in my
recordset which contains the file to be played and click Choose,
and then then OK on the previous window, I get an error that my URL
    cannot contain any special characters.
I thought this could work the same way as an image place
    holder.
What am I doing wrong? Can I have an empty FLV player on a
page which gets the correct file to play from a MySQL databse with
    PHP?

  • Flash Video Encoder - Sizing Video

    Hello
I have an uncompressed video at 720x486. I need to encode it
to Flash video at 640x480. When I import it into Flash Video
Encoder, I use the custom settings to output a 640x480 movie at
    30fps and 550kbps using the VP6 codec.
Flash video outputs a 720x486 movie.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    ---------------------S

I've never had a problem with videos not being resized... and
    many times
I've made video thumbnails. How are you determining the
    output is incorrect
anyway? I'd guess it is your method that is wrong - if the
    encoder did not
resize properly this question would come up daily...and it
    doesn't.

  • Insert Flash Video MUTED

    Hi,
I have an embedded FLV in a Dreamweaver page, inserted using
    the
Insert > Media > Flash Video menu item and using the
Clear Skin 1 skin. Everything's been working well, but now
the client would like the movie to start MUTED with the option for
the user to turn the mute button off (or turn volume on).
I've tried using FlashVars (value="volume=0") and that
    doesn't seem to work.
Is there some easy way of doing this or do I have to go back
to Flash and do it there?

  • Flash videos play in preview, but not live website...

I have embedded .FLV video files into my website.  The videos play in my preview browser with no problems.  When I upload them to my live site, and try to view them on the web, there is just a white space where they are supposed to be, and they do not play.  The url of the webpage with the video is :
    http://www.centrometalcut.com/Photos/abrasivephotos.asp
I have searched for all kinds of answers and solutions, tried tons of different things, and I cannot seem to fix this. I am so frustrated, please help!!   Thanks.

    Hi,
may I show you how I did it? (Translated from my German DW):

    Header 2
    Ganz neues Unterverzeichnis anlegen
    Datei html neu
    DesignMode:
    Einfügen Flash-Video
    Durchsuchen ---> myFLV.flv
Skin: Halo Skin 3 (min. Breite 280)
    Breite 640
    Höhe 480
    alle Kästchen angeklickt
    create a really new subdirectory
    create a new html-file
    DesignMode: Insert Flash-Video
    search/browse ---> myFLV.flv
skin: Halo Skin 3 (min. width 280) ( it's only my choice)
    width 640 ( it's only my choice)
    height 480 ( it's only my choice)
    I clicked all the boxes
---> And now up and away with ALL these files in a directory of your server:
    YourFlv.flv
    YourFlv.php (or YourFlv.html or ......
Clear_Skin_1.swf (my choice, but created from DW)
    FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf (created from DW)

  • Embedding flash videos in Dreamweaver

I used the Insert/media/Flash Video to load a flv file.
I keep getting a grayed box the size of the video with no play skin on the design view.
There is code in the code view.
I assume I am supposed to have a video with a play skin.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Mike,
Seems I gave incorrect advice.  Thank you for correcting me.

  • Flash video help with DW CS3

I am trying to put a flash video on a website. I have the
.flv file encoded. I followed the instructions to
Insert>Media>Flash Video. Got the .flv file in the root
folder, picked a skin, etc. When I view the page in the browser
from Dreamweaver, it works just fine. So I uploaded the site to the

through local files). No flash video. The page appears as I
designed it, only in the middle where the video is supposed to be
it is just blank (black, just like the background). Any help would
be greatly appreciated as its frustrating when you have it working
all the way through the "preview in browswer" and when you upload
to server it still doesn't work. I upoaded the html page and all

No, but you are able to create webkit browser environment and embed flash player plugin and playback protected content.

    would be possible.
