Flash Video plays locally, but not on web

I have a htm page that I have inserted a Flash Video. It
plays locally, but not when I have it on the web. I get nothing -
no skins, nothing. If I rt click, there are the settings for flash.
I have the scripts in my scripts folder - double checked that. Can
anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
Here is the link.

right off the top ..
You have two script calls to the Scripts folder and file ..
one is root
relative and the other goes up one level. One of them needs
to be removed.

  • Flash videos showing locally, but not on my site. help please

    Hi,
    I converted several avi's to flash, I then inserted the FLV
    file into and html file in dreamweaver.
    The flash files will play locally, but not when i upload them
    to web server. Check it out here please
    http://kdsi.org/kds/demo.html
    please check the demos above to see what i mean. I just get a
    blank page.
    Anyway to insert video into the page like youtube? (instead
    of the "demo video" button have the video embedded and just click
    play to play it. without using the popup like i did.)
    thank you.
    thanks

    Hi,
    I am sorry i did not get what you mean with the last
    sentence, but generally, this may be a path problem, you need to
    check your FLV path and make it meet the path on the server not the
    local machine.

    Make sure your server is configured to serve .flv files. Ask
    your host if
    there is a mime type set up for that file extension.

  • Flash video works locally but not on server

    I am hoping that someone can help me solve this problem. I cannot seem to fix it. I have created a flash video and it works fine locally but doesn't when I upload it to the server. All I get is a white blank screen. I can access the Flash settings but the video doesn't display. I have checked all file paths, which are correct since everything is in the same folder. I have looked up other forums trying to find a solution but nothing has worked yet. Does anyone here have any idea on how to solve this problem?
    My operating system is Windows XP. I am using IE8 browser and my flash player is up to date. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Nevermind. I ended up solving the problem on my own. This old guide that I used before ended up helping me out. I will post the link here in case anyone else has the same problem.

  • Flash site works locally but not online (uploaded to server)

    We have bought a flash portfolio template and have customized it with our pictures, video, etc.
    When we test it locally on our computer (using different web browsers) it all works perfectly well. We have uploaded the finished website to our server and when you go to the address online, it doesn't work (a loader progress shows but it is stopped and nothing happens).
    We have however uploaded the original template we bought and it works perfectly online.
    The template consists of and index.html, various .swf, and various .xml that we have modified according to the template instructions (it also contains a java script folder we haven't touched).
    What is it wrong with our modified template - it works locally without problem…!
    Thanks for your help

    When a Flash file works locally but not on-line, it's almost always a pathing issue (provided you did upload ALL files and do not have something missing... as suggested by Ned).
    A "pathing issue" results when the main .swf cannot find one or more of the associated Flash files...like an xml file or images.
    It can be something as simple as using switching file names to all lower case. Local machine is not case sensative... most servers are. So "My Photo.JPG" is not the same as "my_photo.jpg". When naming files, best to use all lower case, no spaces in any file or folder names... use_underscore_instead.
    But the most common cause is that those associated files (xml, images, etc.) are not pathed relative to the Web page where the main .swf is embedded. Pathing to the .xml and image files should be as though the .swf was located in the same folder as the Web page... NOT the actual location of the .swf file.
    And that includes paths to the xml file and paths to image files coded into those xml files. Everything need to be coded relative to the Web page.

  • Published F4v video and html plays locally but not online...

    I am running Windows 7/64 and Master Collection. I've created a clip of DV NTSC footage to test F4V publishing. Done this many times with CS3 and flv files but this has me stumped. I can successfully view the video and web page locally in IE and Netscape but on upload to my server I have the menu and placement right but no video appears. I created the clip in Premiere Pro CS5 and exported to F4V/FLV best quality. Opened an Actionscript Media DV NTSC template in Flash Pro CS5 and imported the video which I had pre-placed in my root web folder locally. I then exported the swf and saved the fla. All files were then in my root folder and the scrpts in the scripts folder. In Live View in Dreamweaver CS5 all looked fine. In each browser locally the video played as expected. Once all files were uploaded the video was not visible.
    The file is located here...
    http://www.goodmangraphic.com/2010vid.htm
    in the root directory are... Sequence 01_1.f4v, minimaflatcustomcolorall.swf, 2010movie.swf, 2010movie.fla and in the scripts folder, expressinstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js.
    Thanks in advance for any guidance on what I may be doing wrong.
    John

    Ross,
    As you suggested I checked the fla and indeed the local path was there so I changed it to it's relative path, then re exported the swf and saved the fla, re-uploading the files. No luck on ability to see online or even local preview. So I then reset the file location to use the actual URL online and that would not work and even in fla showed an error it could not connect to the file. So I reverted to local naming of the file again to test and sure enough it previewed fine locally in both browsers but again reverting to a relative path or http, failed to sucessfully see the video.
    I am not having these issues with flv format, just the f4v. As an example here is the flv version using the url in the fla file attributes...
    http://www.goodmangraphic.com/2010vid_b.htm
    BTW - I simply renamed the extension after duplicatng the file for the video in this example.
    Appreciate the help.

  • Live Video Plays Locally But Remotely Only Skin Is Visible

    Hi Guys,
    I have tested other embedded videos and they will play remotely so I know the hosting site is working.   Can anyone please look and tell me what I can try to make the vid work?   Currently, the live video will play locally and remotely from this computer where all the files are stored but only the skin is visible on any other remote computer's web browser.
    I will post any info you ask for.   I have been working on this forever.   Please, someone who is good at this help me?
    Here are my files look (I can't figure out how to blow this up larger - can you see it?):
    I will try whatever you suggest.
    Chris
    The Adobe Dreamweaver Tech Support said to post here and that the Expertise Team (you I suppose) would figure it out.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit OS.
    My live video is being broadcast by Adobe Flash Media Encoder to Adobe Flash Media Server 4 and inserted into Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver Support watched me re-create the Flash file and import into Dreamweaver and we looked at it for hours together. In the end, they suggested I post here because we could not figure it out / it is not supported. Ideas?   Can I provide any other helpful info?

    Most likely it's a URL problem. What the player is looking for is the remote URL to the server... not "localhost" or some other address on your local machine.
    So when you config the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, there is a dialog box asking for FMS URL:
    Your remote URL will look something like this:
    rtmp://76.192.182.133/my_streamer
    where the protocol is rtmp, the Web address is the address of your host server and the name of the application you are using to do the streaming is the last part of the address.
    Of course this means that you will need to have an application already residing on the server, it's not enough to just have access to a Flash Media Server, you also need an application to do the streaming.
    The next important part is to give your stream a name, it can be whatever, but this name will be used on the Web page.
    something like:
    Stream: test_stream
    With those settings, here is what a Web page would look like:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
    <title>Streaming Test</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id='mediaspace'>
      <script type='text/javascript'>
        var so = new SWFObject('player_new.swf','mpl','500','410','9');
        so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
        so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
        so.addParam('wmode','opaque');
        so.addVariable('image','live_intro.jpg');
        so.addVariable('file','test_stream');
        so.addVariable('bufferlength','10');
        so.addVariable('streamer','rtmp://76.192.182.133/my_streamer');
        so.write('mediaspace');
      </script>
      </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    that's the entire page, just copy and paste into a new html doc in code view.
    See where the variable 'file' is the name of your stream 'test_stream'
    And the variable 'streamer' is the URL of your host FMS with the application name at the end of the address.
    This is working code from the JW Player using swfobject 1.5 (notice the call to swfobject in the <head>).
    There is also an image (make it 500 x 410 or whatever size you set your player to) that sits in front of the player until someone click the play button.
    So to make this work, you need 3 files, the JW Player itself, the swfobject file, and a thumbnail for before the Live streaming starts.
    You can download them all here from my site:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/player_new.swfswf
    I changed the file extension to .swfswf so that you can download and not have the browser open the .swf. Once you have the file, change the file extension to just .swf
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/swfobject.js
    swfobject for Flash detection, also great for adding alternate content for non-Flash browsers.... but that's another story.
    and an image here:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/live_intro.jpg
    download to your screen and right click and "Save Image.
    Put all the files in the same folder as your new HTML Web page.
    Change the FMS URL to your host URL.... I'll include a photo here:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/streaming.jpg
    That is where your URL info goes. When you click the "Connect" button, you should get a message in the "Encoding Log" tab that tells you whether the connection was successful of not.
    For more info on the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_media_live_encoder
    You now have everything needed to properly display a Live stream... provided that is that your FMS is correctly set up and that you actually have a working, streaming application installed on the server.
    One more thing:
    "I even tested another embedded video just to make sure the host wasn't the issue and that video played live perfectly even remotely but my feed would not."
    A Live feed is completely different from prerecorded videos. It uses a different protocol, Player configuration is different, and of course you need an actual application that streams Live video.
    Best of luck! I hope you can get this going!

  • Movies show locally but not on web

    The symptom: I'm not able to get a swf to show or play in an
    html page on a web server. The html page shows blank (though right
    clicking confirms there's an invisible swf on the page).
    I followed the well written Adobe Design Center tutorial at
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/tutorials/videoencoderwizard/
    (explicitly, and dozens of times) With each iteration, I first
    cleared out the files on my local drive and webserver and started
    fresh.
    The process followed was:
    1. Created a fla in Flash 8
    2. Imported a MWV movie to the stage, following the
    parameters of the tutorial, and saved it as a FLA, FLV, swf skin,
    and swf movie to a single folder on my PC.
    3. Created a blank html page in Dreamweaver 8. Inserted a
    Flash Video in the page. In the "Insert Flash Video" dialog box I
    set the following:
    -Video type = Progressive Download Video; URL pointed to FLV
    file; Skin set to "Clear Skin 1"; Width 250
    4. FTP'd one folder containing all files to the website:
    html, flv file, swf video, Clear_Skin_1.swf,
    ClearExternalPlayMute.swf (this is the control skin I set in Flash,
    but it wasn't available in the dropdown of the "Insert Flash Video"
    dialog box in Dreamweaver so I picked Clear_Skin_1.swf),
    5. called up the url in several browsers: IE 6.0.2, IE 7,
    Firefox 2.0 - all with same result: blank white screen.
    Any ideas/suggestions will be much appreciated by me - and
    probably others here too. Tell me I'm not the only one experiencing
    this!
    Best,
    Steve

    Was able to resolve this with the help of Adobe Technical
    Support. For those coming after me, here's the Fix:
    This issue is caused by a MIME setting in Windows 2003 web
    server.
    Reason:
    With IIS 6.0, Microsoft changed the way streaming media is
    handled. Previous versions of IIS did not require any modification
    to stream Flash Video. Microsoft IIS 6.0, the default web server
    that ships with Windows 2003, requires a MIME type to recognize
    that FLV files are streamed media.
    Solution can be found here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19439
    Note: I tested my video on a Linux server and it worked fine:

    According to you since the stream published by FMLE to FMS is playing fine on the other players even remotely, it doesn't look like FMS problem.
    But could you please eloborate the logic you are using in your player?

  • SWF plays locally but not on live site

    I created a popup html file which contains an swf with
    animation and sound. On the homepage of the website, I defined an
    "onClick" behavior to open this popup window containing the swf
    file. This works fine locally on my computer, but when I put all of
    the files on my server, the popup window opens but nothing appears
    except the title of the popup in the title bar of the
    window...other than that the popup is a blank white screen. I'm new
    at this...what's wrong??? Spending way too much time on this!
    Thanks.

    yes...i uploaded the popup html file and the swf file...in
    fact, the actual swf file will play if i type in the address to the
    swf file, but if i open the index page and click on the text with
    the clickOn behavior, the popup opens but is blank. Here's the
    popup url:
    http://www.onguardkids.com/Video/alarm_sound.swf
    but it will not play if i type in the direct popup page:
    http://onguardkids.com/alarm_sound.html
    here's the index page...on the bottom left corner the popup
    opens when you click on "Click Here to Hear Alarm".
    http://www.onguardkids.com
    Also, is there a behavior that will change the curser to a
    pointer when it is over the "Click Here to Hear Alarm" text?
    Thanks.

  • Captivate 5.5: preloader shows locally but not on web site

    What could be happening on my server that prevents my Captivate 5.5 AS3 preloader from displaying?
    I can see a blip when I preview the courses locally, and when I upload files to another server, I can see the preloader display perfectly. But on my usual server, which used to show the preloader, I just get a few seconds of blank screen before my course plays.
    So Captivate is working OK, but what could be happening on my server which until today was behaving properly? (Yes, I'll contact my hosting service, but if you've run across a similar issue and maybe a solution, any ideas you have may help me talk with them.)
    Thanks!

    Rick, I have a weird problem now.
    my files sometimes load and sometimes don't!
    when I place the url on the current webpage (where the index is) - the files load.
    when i click them from the index file, a new window opens up but the files don't load.
    this behavior is not consistent. a few hours ago it did work.
    any ideas???

  • Flash Remoting Works Locally But Not On The Server

    Hello,
    I have a flash file that connects to an asp.net page. The
    aspx page queries a databse and returns a set of records to flash.
    Flash reads in those records and processes those records. Locally,
    this works fine. However, on the server, nothing happends. I spoke
    with tech support at hosting company and they tell me everything is
    installed for Flash Remoting.
    Here is the code thats on the server:
    import mx.remoting.NetServices;
    import mx.remoting.NetDebug;
    mx.remoting.debug.NetDebug.initialize();
    //CONSTRUCTOR

    bject = gatewayConn.getService("matt", this );
    function SQLQueryToolAction(){
    SQLQueryToolService.test("SELECT * FROM flashImages");
    function test_Result(result){
    trace(result);
    _root.abc.text = result.toString();
    SQLQueryToolAction();
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vic

    I am having the exact same problem. My remoting application
    works fine on my laptop as long
    as the url for the gateway reads
    http://localhost/remotingData/gateway.aspx,
    but if I change
    it to the name of my machine and attempt to run the swf I
    keep getting a NetConnection.call.badversion error in the
    netconnection debugger. If I attempt to connect through IE it just
    sits with no reply.
    Is there some kind of permission thing going on here?
