Flash Video to webpage
Hello all,
I wasn't sure where to post this inquiry, but figured I would
try here.
Anyways, I have a windows media video that I would like to
have users play through on my webpage - and then after the video is
completed, it would open a webpage automatically in a new window.
After looking through the web I can't find a way to do this,
but it seems like it would be something that could be done. I have
converted my windows video to flash format, embedded it on my stage
and am ready to add action script. I know how to make the video a
button so that users would click on the video and then it would
open a page, but I was hoping there would be a way that it could do
this automatically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

WWD FLV Player is pretty nice.
It's compact, easy to set-up. Read the installation.html that comes with it.

Problem with Flash video in webpage
I've encoded a number of videos in the FLV format(using both
Flash Video encoder and Quicktime), using standard preset settings,
inserted in webpage using dreamweaver standard - Insert Media -
Flash Video. When I try to play the videos, online or testing in
browser, the video does not play the whole way through. It'll play
15 sec into the video and then stop, although it seems to have some
of the rest of the video if you play around with the controller.
I've looked on the Flash encoding forum (other people have the same
problem) and looked on the site for more info but cannot find
any.Have you checked to see if the FLV is the same size on the
server as your
local copy?

Is it possible to save a Flash video from a webpage?
So you can't right / ctrl click and save as, but is there any other way of saving Flash videos from webpages? Or would that conflict with what Flash was designed to do? (I'm thinking that perhaps publishers want to control and monitor viewing of their content, rather than release it for uncontrolled redistribution. Fair enough.)
As someone looking at getting into publishing Flash content, is there any way for me to enable viewers to download content? I haven't got to the Publishing for Web chapter in my Flash book yet, so maybe I'll learn all about this soon enough...
...though any input would be appreciated.Yay it worked after a bit of trial and effort (was holding buttons Dow too long). Thanks so much for your help

Are there any plug ins I can use to add more options to the skins that are currently available in CS3? I need a skin that displays UNDER the video, not on top of it and with timing and video length. I am not a programmer, I'm just inserting flash videos into webpages and am stuck with the choices that dreamweaver cs3 provides, non of which is what I need. Please help me!
DW's skin choices are limited because it's not a Flash application. If you're good with Action Script, you could build your own custom player in Flash or you could use any of the pre-built Flash players on the web.

My Flash Video is not working in my webpage
Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
I have dreamweaver CS3
I did use the Media option to insert the Flash Video content in my web page. When viewed in dreamweaver design window I can see the box, if I try to preview it http://www.stmarksavalon.org.au/public_html/pages/resources/TMPdwowk3qayn.php displays a 404 error.
I did upload to the host the .php and related files and try different browsers and does not display even the white space where the video means to appear
The original video format was MP4 I did converted it to FLV using the free software at www.dvdvideosoft.com
I did upload the encoded Flash Video (FLV) and the related files and the webpage
http://www.stmarksavalon.org.au/pages/resources/videos.php
Ta,
SoniaHi Melanie,
what I saw first is this:
That means. your *.flv-file is in your DW, ok, BUT, ist it on your server?
And are you really sure, that you did all the required DW-steps? In order you could control this I'll try to describe in detail from the beginning (translated from my German DW):
Create a really new subdirectory (not absolutely necessary, only to see/control the steps).
Create a new html/php-file.
Work in designMode --> Insert Flash-Video.
Search/browse ---> yourFLV.flv
Skin: Halo Skin 3 (min. width 280) ( it was my choice)
width 640 ( it's my choice)
height 480 ( it's my choice)
I clicked all the boxes
---> And now away with all these files below (produced from DW) to your server.
Best you have a look with WIN-Explorer into your directory, to see all the files DW has created in your subdirectory and don't forget one):
YourFlv.flv
YourFlv.htm (or YourFlv.php)
Clear_Skin_1.swf (my choice)
FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
Could it be, that there is only the "FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" on your server?

Firefox5 is not showing BBC iPlayer Video & Radio.
Other browsers are all fine(Safari,IE,Chrome)
The iPlayer webpage is all there but the flash video player is black. The OS is MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3.Also, when the flash video does not show up it displays the error that I do not have the current flash player. The problem is that I do have the current flash player that actually plays flash from another section of the website.
Forgot to add that earlier. -
How to play flash video for 40 secs and then display webpage automatically?
I have made a webpage, i want to show a flash video for 40 seconds when the page is opened. Then the Flash video should dissapear and the web page shall open. How should i do this?
Hi
This would require the use of actionscript placed inside the flash video, which would then redirect to the main site after the required time.
(to find out how to do this you would be better advised in the flash forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_general).

Problem with Flash video/dropdowns in Mozilla
Am trying to add a flash video to a webpage using a
Dreamweaver extension called Active Slideshow Pro by DMXZone.
The page can be viewed: www.faith.org.uk/Testindex.html
In IE7 it works fine. The video shows and the dropdowns of
the menu work correctly.
In Mozilla Firefox the video works but the dropdowns do not
show.
If I remove the block of coding which is generated by the
DMXZone extension:

The page works in both browsers and the menu dropdowns appear
correctly.
I would be most grateful for anyone's advice on this.A discussion with Adobe support lends the idea that MPEG
layer 4 might be an issue. That since these videos come from DVD
perhaps encoded with MPEG layer 4 that that could be the reason tha
all of them have this problem. (Some were done using AVI - I have
to check and see if that makes a difference)
BUT
According to the PDF from Adobe Design - Flash Video Encoder
Wizard - By Tom Green and Jordan L. Chilcott
Flash should be able to convert an MPEG4 file. (Well it does
but they all stop after 30 sec.) Now how do I solve this problem?
All the videos still stop after 30 sec.s

Flash Video Encoder Wizard
By Tom Green and Jordan L. Chilcott
The first thing you have to understand about the use of video
in Flash® is the original
video must be converted to a format Flash can read. This
format is FLV (Flash Video)
and you can either use Flash, the Flash Video Encoder, or
third-party software to
create the FLV file. If you use video-editing software such
as Adobe® After Effects®,
you can also export the file as a FLV file. If you are a
Dreamweaver® user, the current
version of Dreamweaver—Dreamweaver 8—contains a
feature that allows you to add
an FLV at the click of a button.
The purpose of the Encoder, therefore, is to convert the
video file to the FLV format.
When you installed Flash Professional 8, the Flash Video
Encoder application was
also installed on your machine. If you also have QuickTime,
Adobe After Effects,
Avid Studio, or Final Cut Pro installed on your machine,
they, too, were given the
capability to use the Encoder when it was installed.
If you will be converting a video to the FLV format, the
video must be in one of
these formats:
• AVI—Audio Video Interleave
• MOV—QuickTime 4 or later
• MPEG—Motion Picture Experts Group -
Using variable in function for FLASH video
I have a webpage that uses PHP to pull a variable from a
MySQL database.
I would like to use that variable to tell my flash component
what flash video to play. I cant seem to figure out how to place
the variable in the function call to make it work.
Also...The main page is in the root directory of my site with
all my flash videos in a subfolder. I can't seem to get the videos
to play on my main page unless they are in the same directory. I
even tried to simply 'include' the movie into my existing page and
it doesn't work.
Any idea on either of these issues?
(Is this even the correct forum area for this? I am new to
using FLASH for this stuff)Thanks for the advice!
Turns out I believe my answer lies in PHP, but I will check
out the LoadVars help in FLASH too!

Embeding Flash Video on other websites
I would like to be able to share some of our website videos
with other
websites.
The idea is the same as Google Videos which allows a user to
cut a snippet
of code and paste that into their own webpage. The result is
a Flash video
'playing' on the end users website but really streaming from
Google Video.
Here is an example of the code offered by Google Videos
<embed style="width:400px; height:326px;"
id="VideoPlayback" align="middle"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
src="
http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=6960295146523698319"
allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" quality="best"
bgcolor="#ffffff"
scale="noScale" wmode="window" salign="TL"
FlashVars="playerMode=embedded">
</embed>
I'm no Flash expert, but is this one Flash file
(googleplayer.swf) calling
the database record ID for the .flv file?
Thanks!!!

Flash Video: get URL question
Basically, I have a webpage with a flash video on it. What
I'm trying to do is, once the video plays through, the viewer
should be taken to another webpage automatically. Does this require
an ActionScript? Any help on this would be great.
Thanks.yep, it requires some actionscript here a link to a very good

Hiding sections of a flash video
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/hattricks_gold/hideflash.jpg
This image shows 2 fake versions of a website
the customer does not want a new flash website only to hide sections of the flash video
is there a way to do that?
the lower right image shows the menu but no flash video...
i guess what i am looking for is a way to mask out the video section of the flash video
and place the rest of the webpage on top of that mask or layer.
I am using dreamweaver cs6If I read this correctly, you're saying the menu and video are in one file originally crafted in Flash, right? So no. You would need to recreate the whole thing sans the video.
IMO, using Flash in this day & age is a big mistake. Flash isn't visible to the world's most popular mobile & tablet devices so you're alienating a big segment of your web audience. Your best option is to build a web friendly web site with HTML & CSS.

Have a limited time to get up a site...really having trouble
with Flash Video...I think I know where I am stuck...I seem to have
no trouble encoding and publishing videos, I think where I am going
wrong is when I use the component inspecter to add a 'content
path'...I am stumped because Im not sure where exactly this path is
supposed to go! I have my own server online where I am uploading
all my HTML files...If anybody could explain in really simple terms
where this path is supposed to go, (Ex: where the file will be
uploaded to, the address of the file when it has been uploaded
etc...) I dont seem to be having any luck with this...was also
hoping for some more help if anybody knew how to link to a flash
video, so it would pop up in its own window without going to
another page...I have a list of video descriptions on my html
webpage...and along the list are thumbnail images, i am hoping that
when they are clicked on, the flash video will pop up, and voila!
My mission will be complete...
Thanks to any kind souls who help me, you have much gratitude
coming your way!!!

Problem Inserting Flash Video (flv) File into Site
Hi -
I'm having problems inserting a Flash Video (.flv) into my webpage. I'm using Dreamweaver 8.
I'm going to: Insert - Media - Flash Video, browsing to the .flv file that's in my local site folder, entering the settings.
In Dreamweaver, there's a big gray box w/ flv icon in the middle. But when I go to preview, the screen is empty, no video.
I'm creating the .flv file w/ Screen Mimic (a screen capture recording software). This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others. This is the first video that I've made that I'm trying to insert.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.
thanks!
Stacey StanleyThis could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.
That would my guess too. Here are few other things to consider:
1) Does your FLV filename contain any spaces or special characters? If so, rename it without spaces as these can cause problems.
2) Output Screen Mimic project to a QuickTime MOV file. Then use Adobe Flash Encoder to convert the MOV to FLV.
3) When you tested your page, was it a live page on remote server? Did you upload the page and all supporting files to server (Scripts folder, SWF, FLV...)?

Display Thumbnail before Embedded flash video plays
Hey Folks,
I'm trying to embed a flash video into a column on my website. I'm using Deamweaver 8.0. I go to Insert > Media > Flash Video and follow the steps. Everything works well enough, but when I preview the webpage in either Firefox or Safari, the video area is simply a plain black box, with the 'player-controller' below it. Clicking 'play' displays and plays the video.
What I want is for the first frame of the video to display until the visitor clicks "play", then the video to play as usual. I've spent the last few hours trying to google and search this forum, but haven't found an answer to this. Is it something in the development of the flash video (I used iSkysoft Video Converter to convert an iMovie to Flash)?
Is there a simple way I can have the first frame appear before the video plays?
Thanks so much.
Cheers
CarlHey Folks,
Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to delete the first frame of the video. Works fine now.
Cheers
