so what Id like to know is, how come the websites dimensions fit across my monitor which is 24"inch 1920 x 1080 display but its not scalable?isnt the whole purrpose of this type of design
to be responsive?
Thank you

Like I mentioned, Flash is essentially dead online. Adobe stopped development of it on mobile devices in 2011 to focus on HTML5 (which is nearly universally supported on handhelds). There are a lot of reasons Flash failed online with handhelds, here's an article (some would say a biased one), but the points made are valid in regards to Flash on mobile devices:http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
I think the main thing that killed Flash online was touch screens. With everything moving to touch screens and the lack of mice on those devices, even the ones that could run Flash couldn't run it correctly because so much in Flash designed sites depends on the mouse.
Flash isn't SEO friendly when used for an entire site because it uses a file that runs within an html page. Search engines look at html to decide what's important, rate and index pages. They can't look "into" the Flash file to see menus, links and relevant information. HTML5 (and CSS3), on the other hand, allows you to do a lot of what Flash does, but within "indexable" html mark-up.

  • Who makes the nicest, easiest to use Flash website design software?

    Please forgive the beginner's question. I would like to build
    a flash site like
    http://www.hockaday.org from an
    easy to use Flash template. You get what you pay for so my first
    choice isn't something for free but a 30-day free trial version
    would be nice.
    What I like best about
    http://www.hockaday.org is the
    great menus and that pictures continually reload in interesting
    ways.
    Maybe a template is too restrictive. Who makes the nicest,
    easiest to use Flash website design software that allows fast
    creation of those fancy menus and with other fast features to do
    nice things with pictures and motion?
    I need to create a site like
    http://www.hockaday.org
    immediately so I don't have the time to learn Flash first. What's
    my best bet?

    you are in a catch 22 - you don't have time to learn flash -
    yet you need to build an entire site
    immediately - you can't - sure you can download a template
    that is similar but if this forum is any
    proof, you almost need more flash knowledge trying to
    decipher most templates in order to edit them
    - search this forum, there are several posts per week from
    non-flash users who purchased templates
    and have no clue how to edit them. Often times it is hard for
    an educated flash user to
    reverse-engineer a FLA made by somebody else - Flash
    documents are blank canvases that can be setup
    a myriad ways by different users making the same thing - some
    developers are more organized than
    others - most templates are not organized but rather thrown
    together for a quick profit.
    You will simply need to learn enough flash to understand how
    it works or hire somebody to edit the
    template for you.
    hope this helps.

  • Flash Website Design Help!

    I want to convert my website i use for my computer repair
    business into a full on blown out flash site. my problem is i know
    nothing about flash. not even the basics! i need help and resources
    on where i can go or do to learn the basics and turn my ideas into
    something everyone can see and use! any help or replies is great!
    thanks.

    Once you have completed your Flash animation, publish it with a .swf file (along with .gif and .jpg files).
    Inside your html, at the point where you want the animation to appear, paste this code:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" WIDTH="xxx" HEIGHT="xxx" id="Yourfilename" ALIGN="">
    <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="xxxxx.swf"> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#333399> <EMBED src="images/features/xxxxx.swf" quality=high bgcolor=#ffffff WIDTH="xxx" HEIGHT="xxx" NAME="xxx" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED> </OBJECT>
    Make sure you place the .swf file into your "images" fold and within the above code, ensure the link is true. Also, in the code above, replace anything with "x"s with your own information.
    I have this in a site I maintain for a client.

  • I have a question about flash website design and google indexing!

    first off i want to say I hate HTML (call it HTM HELL) I love Flash.Im a big propononent of flash.OK about a month ago I built a 100% flash site,told google to crawl it,then come to find out they cant see any text inside images.So I did what i didnt want to do,I took all my hard work down and had to work even harder and created a fully 100% HTM hell site.and just under 4 weeks later google still has my flash site in its cache.the question im trying to get at is if google cant read 100% flash sites whats the point in creating flash sites(mine's a business site.)I want to get into creating flash sites for other people too but if google cant read them how would a person be able to do a search for say what i do:pc repair in google & then my flash site would come up in googles search results.This is potentially costing me lots of money.I dont like "coding" HTML i want to design in flash.HEEEeeelllppp!

    Google can crawl Flash, though I'm not sure how well, but either way nothing can read text that is not text - ie an image. The workaround - and still relevant for all other search engines, is to put all your content inside the div tag that your Flash is written into. The alternate content that one would see if they didn't have Flash, or didn't have JavaScript enabled.
    There is a good tutorial on SEO with Flash on the SWFObject site: http://blog.deconcept.com/2006/03/13/modern-approach-flash-seo/
    You can also just Google 'Flash SEO' and get a good deal of info.

  • Advice on how to keep Flash website small & fast

    Hi, I'm developing my first Flash website (I know, I know, there are plenty of reasons to use other development products, but for now it will be Flash), and I envision a site with several pages and needing to load some large graphics.  I'm doing the main design work in Illustrator and importing it into Flash.  I'm not too concerned with animation except perhaps moving some buttons around.  My plan so far is to use a lot of UI loaders to keep the main .swf small and to really try to keep the coding pretty simple as I'm a newbie anyway.  I'm looking for general advice on how to prevent the main site from loading quickly - for example, I don't have a good sense of the best format to use for graphics, or which makes the site slower: using several UI loaders or just keeping the content in the main site?  Is a lot of code or large graphics more draining on the load time?  Any thoughts on what you think I can do or not do to keep it lean would be super appreciated, or any other resources you might be able to point me to.
    Thanks in advance!

    Nah... really really stupid questions only get asked in non-Flash forums.  The size of the swf is not tied tot the size of the fla.  The fla has alot more baggage that inflates its size greatly compared to the swf it creates.  The swf will end up bearing the weight of whatever content you put in it.
    If you want to see what's adding weight to your swf, go into your Flash Publish Settings and select the option to Generate Size Report.  When you publish the file it will display a detailed report of each element and the weight it contributes to the swf.
    As far as dynamically loading swf's, it is often a necessity, unless the swf is strictly an animation.  If you import an swf into an fla file, all of the actionscript that might have been in it is stripped out.
    Code will have negligible weight in a file.  Images (large/heavy ones) can put lead shoes on a file, along with video and sound files.

  • Embedding SlideshowPro in a Flash Website

    Hello everyone at the Flash forums!
    I am currently trying to make a Flash website for my cousin's business, and his website should feature a portfolio gallery to display the work he has done (He is a contractor). I am trying to use the SlideshowPro plug-in which generates a very nice-looking Flash gallery that is about 50 times nicer than the one he is using on his website at the moment. One of the big things I like about SSP is that it offers a full-screen picture viewing mode, which would allow potential customers of his to see work he has done better than they are currently seeing.
    However, whenever I publish the website to test it and make sure everything is working okay, I go to the Portfolio page and test SSP in full screen. Once I come back from full screen, the gallery remains on top of the screen on every other page of the website. The audio also does this (It can play audio in the background while looking through the galleries you set up). Since I am somewhat new to Flash, I am not sure why it is doing this. Perhaps someone else has encountered this and has a fix or workaround that I could use.
    Thanks in advance, guys!
    Note: I attached a picture of the problem I am encountering so you guys can see what it is doing.
    Edit: I am not sure whether or not it is relevant, but I have the gallery set to appear in frame 117 and the Home button is set to go back to frame 115, before the gallery should even show up.
    Edit 2: I finally figured out how to get the gallery to not appear on other pages (Yippee!). However, the audio is still continuing to play when I navigate away from the Portfolio page.

    Alright, just figured I would update you guys. I redid the website so that it ran at a higher framerate and kept everything else the same as it was. As stated before, SSP is showing up right, but the audio still isn't working right. I've tried all of the AS codes I've been told to try and none of them have worked. It keeps telling me that every single code I've tried is not a function, so I don't know what I am doing wrong there.
    Also, not really related to SSP: I did add a contact form to the website, and I am now having problems with that not wanting to submit the data to the mailer.php file to send the form information to the designated e-mail address (I keep getting, "Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: http://sagesportfolio.webs.com/website.swf cannot load data from http://www.sagesportfolio.webs.com/mailer.php. at website_fla::MainTimeline/frame544()", minus the quotes). If anyone might be able to help with that, too, I would highly appreciate it.

  • Start to build my first flash website

    I've learned actionscript form resources like video and
    books. i read some serious tutorials and did many practices and
    small projects. I'm trying to build my first flash website. do i
    need to learn Flex? or anything else? do i need to study some other
    courses? My problem is where to start. what's a structure of a
    professional and serious full flash website? links? components (if
    any)? and ... yes i've worked on small swf files. creating
    actionscript effects, building some easy components before but i'm
    sure they are not enough. and one more thing! is there any good
    practical (and specially free!) tutorials based on this concept?
    (i've already reviewed actionscript.org and kirupa.com, thx!)

    Your first question: subjective to your skillset. http://Zen-Cart.com has their own tutorials/FAQ/Forum that has plenty of information on the subject. Make your determination from the information they provide. It's free... download it and try it yourself to find out, perhaps?
    Second question: you would not build additional product pages. There's only one product page that is populated with data from, wait for it... you guessed it, a database. If you're unfamiliar with working with database data then familiarize yourself with it if you wish to work on dynamic shopping carts.
    I recommend http://Cartweaver.com if you want to work in Dreamweaver on the design and coding of the cart. It is very easy to implement your design into a cartweaver shopping cart.

  • How to integrate new Facebook social plugins with a Flash website?

    Facebook has just released a suite of social plugins which are supposed to be very simple to implement (one line of HTML is the promise, in the form of an iframe).
    However this approach is not compatible with a full flash website. The iframe will not display. Any ideas how best to implement one of these plugins?

    If the plugin is not designed for use with Flash and needs to be in an html page, then that's what needs to happen.  Normally there is no such thing as a full Flash site.  Most Flash sites are staged in an html web page, so it is possibly you can add the plugin on the same page, just not within the Flash portion.

  • Flash Websites - content panel

    Hi There
    I am new to flash and am looking for a tutorial which will help me create a specific end product.   I am trying to make a flash website (which i have the designs for) which will have links down the right hand side, but when the link is clicked a content panel apears in the middle of the screen with the correct text in it and maybe a link to download a PDF,  there will be a few links down the right hand of the screen and therefore different content for each link.  the site will only consit of 1 page and the only thing which will change is this content panel which is centralised.
    Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks

    I don't know of any specific tutorials for what you want to build, but it sounds like you should be able to create each section as a movieclip and use the buttons to make the current section invisible and the called section visible.  What you might try doing to get started is to use Google and search for code related to whatever version of actionscript you'll be using in terms of making buttons work.

  • Integrate Flash banner in Flash website?

    I'm building a portfolio website for my design work. The whole website is Flash based.
    I have a Flash banner that I would like to add to the website but I can't seem to place it on stage.
    Is there a way to stream the banner? If I do that, how do I place it's location on stage?
    Thanks!

    Assuming that you are making the Flash website, just use a loader to load the .swf file and add it to the stage, like you would an image:
    pseudo code (meaning that im just typing from memory, so it should work but might have an error)
    var myLoader = new Loader();
    var myBannerUrl = ("bannerFolder/banner.swf"); //full url OR path relative to the file loading it.
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addMyBannerToStage);
    //to be thorough, an error listener and posibly a progress listener would be useful
    myLoader.load(new URLRequest(myBannerUrl));
    function addMyBannerToStage(event:Event):void{
         myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addMyBannerToStage);
         var myBanner = myLoader.content as MovieClip; //if you want to access its functions/vars etc like any movieclip
         myBanner.x = 0; // x position
         myBanner.y = 0; // y position
        addChild(myBanner);
