Flash will not publish + FLV question

Hello,
I am currently building a game in Flash CS4, but am stuck due to a Flash problem. I have searched the forums for a sollution, but have yet to find one.
The Problem:
Adobe Flash will not export, or publish my .FLA file, nor will it create a .SWF at the chosen destination under the publish settings. Whenever I try to export/publish my .FLA, the export/publish pop-up window opens, and the progress bar runs all the way through. Once that is done, the window which normally appears immediately afterwards, in order to test the flash, does not appear.
Furthermore, Flash seems to have deleted the .SWF, and any other files I wish to publish the moment the publish/export process is completed.
The strange thing about this problem is that I may be lucky and have Flash actually export and publish correctly on its first go. However, when I try again, it won’t publish/export until I restart flash.
This problem happened on three separate windows machines (Vista and 7) under both Flash CS4 and CS5.
Note:
I have discovered that this problem may be related to the many embedded FLV video clips I have created for the game’s character animations (6+ characters with 30 very short animations each).
These animations were rendered in a 3D CG software, which were then edited in Adobe After Effects, and exported as .FLVs for use in Flash.
Oddly enough, once I’ve deleted all the embedded FLV clips from the library, Flash will once again publish and export. This is not an acceptable solution to my problem, however. I already searched for any corrupted FLV files, but could not find any.
My questions are:
1. What can I do to make Flash publish/export once again, while having my embedded .FLV clips within the library? Is there something I am over-looking, or any settings I must change in Flash?
2. Which settings (in Adobe After Effects) are best to export .FLVs for use in flash?
3. If I cannot use FLVs, what other options do I have, in order to use my CG animations in Flash? I tried PNG sequences, but Flash complains about low memory, and crashes (FLVs were working great up until now).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I've also experienced problems with the Publish process dropping out and failing to complete - no error messages in the Output pane or Compiler errors, just a total hang of the Publish status bar (and no published files...).
I can't say I've pinpointed the exact cause of this, but it may be related to having all objects on the Stage locked (possibly when they are not placed in the main canvas area).
Adding a new layer and creating a new object seems to help.  If the publish process (including TestScene) has stalled, restart Flash and reload the movie...
Hope that helps!  It's kinda scary watching that Publish bar disappear into nothingness when you've got literally hours/minutes/seconds left to get the thing built and running :-)

  • Flash will not publish

I have a rather large file that until recently was publishing fine, but now will not. I have tried saving to different locations and it will still not publish. I am using CS4 in Windows XP Pro. I'm a relative novice, so I don't know how to break the file down in to separate parts and have them load from a main menu, otherwise I'd do that. This is driving me crazy adn I'm fast approching my deadline.

Maybe there is some conflict between software on your
    computer.
I've been using Flash for afew years now, and the only times
it did something close to what you've described, it was because it
crashed, memory problems, or conflicts with scratch disks.
This is why you should superGlue your fingers to the Ctrl+S
everytime you use any design software.
Since im here...i'd like to suggest to you NOT to use scenes.
Whatever you use scenes for, im sure you can do the exact same
thing with multiple movieClip. Scenes most likely will cause you
troubles. Scenes are EVIL in Flash.
P.S. Im not saying that your problem was caused by
scenes...but im telling you to avoid using scenes, to avoid future
    problems you might run into.

  • Flash Will Not Publish SWF

I created a presentation using scenes. I added jpegs
to the scenes and movie clips in the scenes. I use a movie clip to
create a photo gallery. I close flash to work on something else.
Then I re-open flash to work on the presentation again and all of
my jpegs in the movie clip are missing. I click on them in the
library and there is nothing in the preview window. Then I try to
publish the swf and that disappears from the file folder! What the
hell is wrong? This happened when I had the trial version and now
    with the official version!
How can pics and swf's just disappear?

  • Any version of Flash (cs3-cs5) will not publish my file..

    Hi all,
this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time.
While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this. I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.
So the problem might lie in how Flash cs3 saved the file, but it will open just fine in cs4 and cs5 so the file is not corrupt in any means..
    any ideas?
    George
p.s. I tried deleting EVERYTHING off the stage and the library and yet it wont publish.. tried copying all frames on another empty file, couldnt publish either...

  • Contribute CS3 will not publish Flash Player

A few months ago the company I work for bought Contribute CS3
to edit our website. The homepage of our website contains a Flash
Player file. When I edit and publish this homepage Contribute will
not publish the Flash Player file this section just shows up blank
stating movie not loaded when I bring up our website. The same
thing happens even when I do a 'send for review' before I actually
publish the page. I have administrator rights through Contribute to
edit this website therefore I am confused as to why Contribute will
not publish this Flash Player file. I have also tired to reinsert
the Flash file while editing in Contribute and still the file will
not publish. Would anyone know why this would happen?
    Thanks!

  • Canon 580EX Flash will not fire. Being shot on a Canon 5D Mark III.

The light  does not start out green and stays red on the 580EX Flash. It doesn't even go into a sleep mode when not activated for a length of time.  Fresh batteries does not make a difference.  It will allow me to change settings but it won't fire. The infra-red displays it's test light but the flash will not discharge even when it demands it.  It is not on slave or wireless settings.  Nothing makes the flash go off, even the test flash.

First, the red light on the flash indicates it's ready to fire. It goes off when the flash is recycling.
That "pilot" light also is a test button... Turn the flash on and as soon as it lights up, press it. If the flash fires, then it's likely the flash is fine.
Next, check in your camera menu... is Flash Firing (which might be in a Flash Setup group on a later camera model) set to "enabled"? Silly little thing, I know... but it happens. Don't ask me how I know!
Also check the flash is fully mounted in the hot shoe. The locking lever will not go all the way to the latched position, if the flash isn't fully seated in the shoe. The locking lever actuates a small pin on the flash's foot, that fits into a corresponding hole in the hot shoe, both to insure the flash is fully in place and to secure it there.
If all the above checks out okay, another possibility is the camera's exposure mode. Now, personally I don't use them so can't say for certain, but assuming your camera even has them, maybe some of the more automated "scene modes" such as the "running man" for sports, etc. prevent the flash from firing.
Again, I'm not certain how the flash will perform in those modes... But you should use Av, Tv, P or M to test the flash anyway. In the auto exposure modes Av, Tv and P, the flash will fire at reduced output, as FILL light. In the manual M mode, it will fire FULL, as the main light source. Often when firing as fill with reduced output the red light of the flash doesn't go out with a single shot... I often can get 2 or 3 pops out of it before the light goes out and the flash goes into recycle mode for a few seconds.
Is it possible the flash actually is firing, but as fill so it's not a very strong output and it doen't need to go into recycle mode? You might not see the flash, if it's at reduced power and you have your eye to the viewfinder (which blacks out momentarily during the short duration of the exposure). Usually you hear the flash "pop", but if shooting somewhere with a lot of background noise, might not even be able to hear that.
Finally, are you trying to use the flash wirelessly? If so, then there are a number of possibilities. First, the flash needs to be set as "slave". Next, the camera's on-board flash needs to be popped up to act as the controller. Also, the flash and camera need to be set to a matching channel or group. Also, the flash may need to be rotated so that the red pane on the front is facing the camera. Plus wireless flash control is optical, so is "line-of-sight" only. And it's reach is rather limited.
Some of these suggestions may have already occured to you. If so, great! I don't know your level of experience with the flash or what camera you are using, so am just throwing out possibilities that occur to me. I hope this helps!

  • Flash will not install

I have been trying to install adobe flash. First instructions were to uninstall and previous versions. I did that and now Flash will not install. It says that gplay is interfering and can not down load. I dont even know what gplay is, were do I find it, what does it do, and how do I make it go away to get Flash.
I have been working on this for a month. I downloaded Chrome and that is working fine because it has Flash with it, but I deleted flash from my computer and AOL is my internet provider and I cant play videos and such from my mail.
    Help, I am so frustrated.

    Hi,
Which operating system is your computer running on?
If you are using Windows, got to the Task Manager and click on the Processes tab.
Then click on "Show Processes from all users".
In the list of processes, look for "gplay.exe". Select it and click on End Process.
Try downloading and installing Flash Player after that.

  • Flash Will Not Open (but the rest of CS4 will)

    Hello all,
I bought CS4 Design Premium back in October 2008 with my new MacBook Pro.  While I have been using Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop for some time, I am just now wanting to get into Flash.
The problem is that Flash will not open.  I get the entry window that asks me to choose what type of Flash file I would like to start, but no matter what I choose the windows shut down and I get a crash report (that is quite long).
Can someone please shed some light on why this is happening?
Thank you all in advance for your help with this!

  • Flash will not open .otf font

I just installed Myriad Pro and flash will not open the font.
When I go to my fonts folder and double click on the file it says
that its not a valid file and cannot open a .otf. Ive tried to
rename the file to a .tff but it doesnt work.
Please help this is really aggrevating.
    Thanks!

Some fonts simply do not work in Flash. I tried to search the
forum to show you other posts of users who have had problems with
Myriad Pro but this seems to be one of those days that the Adobe
forum decides to be finicky. I thinkg what jedaniel was trying to
say was to see if you can find a true type equivalent of Myriad to
see if that will work. The extension would then be "ttf".
