Flash9 Error 1904 Insoluble Problem

Each time I try to install Flash, I receive the following
error message:
Product: Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX -- Error 1904.Module
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9d.ocx failed to register.
HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel.
My permissions are exactly as they should be, but I ran
subinacl.exe anyway. I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless
times--several times with my firewall and virus scanner turned
off--and I have also registered the .ocx file manually
(successfully, according to the message I received). I have used
ERUNT to restore my registry to a date before Flash went wonky (a
little more than a week ago).
I have tried several different installer links. Some of them
refuse to work because they say there is a newer version available.
When I check IE7's add-ons, there is no Active-X control for
me to enable.
I'm at the end of my rope with this, so I hope there will be
a fix for it soon.

I am a network administrator on my organisations domain. We
recently had the 1904 error on a number but not all our machines
after rolling out the flash9 active x msi from Adobe.
After many fustrating hours of research and testing. I looked
at adobe articals about permissions on the Shockwave.Shockwave
registry keys and registering flash9.ocx with regsvr32.exe and had
very little luck.
In the end I created .reg file containing certain keys and
sub keys (the subkeys is partly what fixed it for me) from a
working machine. And copied the full contence from the
c:\winodws\system32\macromed\Flash from the working machine to a
usb drive.
I then deleted the contence of the
c:\winodws\system32\macromed\Flash on the machine with the error
and replace them with the copy I took from the good machine.
I then ran the .reg file I created.
This fixed all our machines.
I have attached a copy of the .reg code below, First backup
the registry and then if you copy the text below in to a txt file
and then rename it to be .reg, and double click it to load in it
into the registry.
Then if you go to a web page that uses flash such as a
youtube video it will all work fine.
----- copy these files first from a working machine.

  • Error 1904 while installing "nokia software update...

Hi, i've just downloaded the new nokia software updater v.1.4.70en but while im trying to install it shows me an error saying :
    " Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tss\Communication API\cmn_usbdcm.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel" and another " Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tss\Communication API\dtl.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel.".
I put ok and it continues the installation and then it finish.
But the problem is that if i go to the nokia software updater it does not find my phone! Im working on my windows xp sp2 laptop. I also tried on my windows vista laptop and it gave me the same errors! I have no firewalls or antiviruses to block anything! if somebody can help me i would be very gratfull!
I have an nokia E90 V.07.24.0.3 and i want to update it to the last firmware!
    Thank you, Olivier!

I have just encountered the same/similar problem and spent an age trying to find a solution both here and through Google with no success. The good news is that after a bit of trial & error I have managed to resolve the issue with a very simple workaround
When installing NSU, continue through the installation until presented with the error message.
Here, grab a pen and paper and note down the full path of the .DLL causing the problem.
Now continue to install (ignoring the error) by clicking on the right arrow.
Once insallation is complete, open the start menu and select 'Run'
Here you need to type "regsvr32" (without quotation marks) followed by a space then the full path of the file you have noted from the error message. (Note - the path should be in quotation marks). As an example, below is exactly what I typed to resolve my issue
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tss\ProductApiLoader\ta_productapiloader.dll"
Now open NSU and update your handset.
Good luck and remember to feed back your results on this thread for the benefit of others.

  • CR 2010 msi (32 bit) runtime fails with error 1904, win 8.1 and many dll's not registered

I searched the KB articles  on 1904 error, but nothing for win 8 and few for vb 2010 msi. windows platform.
I had been using cr 2008 32-bit runtime with no problem. But now I am trying to install an application that was created in vb 2010 and I need the cr 2010 runtime.  I started to install the cr 2010 runtime 32 bit.  This is a 64 bit machine but the application was created for 32 bit and I have been using 32 bit when installing msi on other x64 platforms with no problems..  This was a test machine.  It has installed the visual C++ redistributable x86 and 64 bit , versions 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012.  bit.  The cr 2010 32 bit runtime is the one that fails.
During installation of the CR 2010 msi a message said that the 2008 msi had to be uninstalled which it did automatically.  But later I received the error 1904 message.  There are about 21 dll's that were listed as not registering.
I uninstalled the cr 2008 32 bit runtime and tried again, but that did not help.
I tried running the CR 2010 msi as administrator to no avail.
I tried uninstalling all other crystal -related software and updates to no avail.
I tried disabling windows defender, to no avail.
My OS platform is Windows 8.1

    Hi Suzanne
Something does not sound right; The CRVS MSI should not have required an uninstall of CR 2008 runtime as these are side by side compatible...
Re. Information on CRVS and WIN 8.1, see this KBA:
    2012075 - Installing Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2013 SP 9 - 1904 error - Failed to register a SAP component - HRESULT -2147010895 or HRESULT: 0x80073715
Now, irrespective of the above KBA which discusses MS VC++ dependency, the CRVS MSI contains the C++ runtime so it is quite confusing as to why the issue. Note that the MSM files do not install the C++ dependencies due to MS licensing restrictions.
There is 10 different CRVS MSI files - one for each Service Pack. Which one are you using? Can you provide the link you used to download the MSI?
Is this computer some special OEM edition? Surface Pro?

  • Desktop Manager Install Error 1904, nothing resolves...

I have been having the following problem the last few days.  On my work desktop (WinXP x64) I installed the DesktopManager software without hitch, but on my home desktop (WinXP Pro SP3) I also keep getting the error message:
Error 1904.Module C:...GW.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel.
I am also getting the same error message for gwapi.dll, desktopsetup_pb.dll, and syncAE_pb.dll.
I am a very technical person so I had no qualms with trying the crackberry fix, but it didn't work.  I was able to register all of the modules after the reset, but when I would open up Desktop Manager it would never connect to my Curve 8320 vis USB or Bluetooth.  With Bluetooth it would recognize the phone and it would even pop up a message saying that it had "detected the device".  It would ask if I wanted to connect and I would say yes and then nothing would happen.  Another 30-60 seconds later it would pop up the same message saying it detected my Blackberry and asking if I wanted to connect.  After about the tenth time of this loop I closed out the Desktop Manager.  I uninstalled the software and deleted the program folders and then logged onto the "Administrator" account (my account is also an admin acct, but I logged onto the default admin account that is labeled "Administrator" by Windows).   Upon logging into this account, I attempted to upgrade the Windows Installer 3.1, but it told me that I have a newer version and couldn't do that (WinXP SP3).  So, I registered the atl.dll and tried installing the Desktop Manager software again (I'm installing v4.6 w/ Media Manager).  Once again I got the same error messages.  So I restarted and attempted to manually register the dll's again, and I'm now getting the error message:
    DllRegisterServer in gw.dll failed.
    Return code was: 0x80070005
So, to sum it all up, I've tried all six "resolutions" that RIM has at: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles/963/KB03928_f.SAL_Public.html, and the first "workaround."  The second "workaround" doesn't apply because there is no option to "ignore," there is only one button that is "Ok."  I'm starting to get pretty pissed off by all of this and I'm ready to throw the **bleep** Blackberry out the window.  I love the phone and it's capabilities, but if I can't use the capabilities then it's pretty much worthless to me... then I should have just gotten an iPhone or a WinMobile device.  It makes no sense to me that the software will install just fine on my WinXP x64 machine at work and not on my 32-bit home machine.  Usually it's the 32-bit progs on the 64-bit machine that cause problems.  When is a fix going to come?
    Here are my details:
    BB Curve 8320, OS v4.5.0.52 (Platform 2.7.0.66)
    DesktopManager Software v4.6 (w/ MediaManager)
    WinXP Pro, Service Pack 3
    Pentium 4, 2.80GHz
    2GB DD400 Dual-Channel RAM

Integration Kit for SAP has not yet been installed. But Business Objects XI3.1 Client Tools are installed.
    Crystal Reports version is 12.0.0.86.
Is it an compatibility issue or other problem? What is the resolution? Are there any Fix Pack available? Any alternative approach that works?
Any suggestions on this are welcome.
    Regards,
    Amogh

    Hello,
Download Crystal Reports 3.1. It should be version 12.1.0.xxx. It may be the order you are installing also, Install CR first and then the other parts.
1904 is a MSIExec error code. Typically it's due to outdated Microsoft installer or permissions and/or network speed or.... Be sure you are logged in as the local PC administrator or have the same rights as. Copy the installer to your local hard drive and run the setup.exe by right clicking on it and selecting Run as Administrator...

  • Error 1904, error 46

Well, I haven't had quicktime for a while now. After trying to upgrade to 7 all I've had is problems. I previously used quicktime 7 beta or whatever apple called it, and that worked fine. Until iTunes 5 came along.
On installation of quicktime 7.0.3xxxx, I get "error 42: could not load or find the quicktime active x control" and "error 1904.Module "c:\program files\quicktime\qtocontrol.dll" failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473".
If I try to manually register the dll, I get the error "dllregisterserver in qtocontrol.dll failed. return code was 0x80070005"
I have tried uninstalling quicktime, removing registry entries, removing the activex control manually from the registry (when I have uninstalled there is no files in c:\windows related to the control but it still appears as installed in ie so i deleted the registry keys and it disappears from ie)
The stupid thing with all this is that it actually plays video and other media in ie and firefox. It's just when i try to load the player, i get the error 46 again.
Any ideas? Anyone from apple care to help?
    Thanks

I saw this error also - I think it's related to my error 46 also - below is my post for that error. Check your registry...
I believe I have figured out the problem with the new quicktime 7 error 46 – activex error and which is related to the not being able to unregister items during an uninstall. (At least in my case)
The problem stems from poor code on Apple’s part. During the installation QuickTime installs/updates a large number of registry keys. These keys are setup with permissions that allow read only by the service account and write/read for only the user account that was used to do the upgrade/install. This means that any other user, even an admin user, will be unable to read these keys. These keys are used to determine the registration of the media types, including the activex controls. Thus – any user (other than the original user to do the install) will have problems running, updating or removing quicktime.
I fixed this problem on my system by doing an exhaustive search of the registry (regedt32.exe) for “quicktime”. Be sure to search all sections, especially HKEYCLASSESROOT. I think you can safely skip over the keys with very large alphanumeric names – I checked them all and they seems to be fine on my system.
As you find each registry entry you need to right click and make sure that administrators has full control and authenticated users have read. You will probably find that you will need to add this to many keys. The process took a while. Once completed I was able to use Quicktime ok on all users – even no admin users.

  • Error 1904 - Module failed to register

I have been getting an error whenever I try to install Crystal Reports 2008 that says the following:

I have upgraded to the latest version of .NET 4 and turned off all antivirus software (as well as attempted other remedies suggested in other posts). However, I continue to get this error during installation regardless of if I run my installer off the CD we purchased or the latest download.
If possible, please reply with a solution or possible cause.
    Thank you

    Any suggestions?

I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up  again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

I tried to install iTunes 10.5 this morning but an error appeared saying "problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." Can someone please help

Firstly, are you installing iTunes for the first time or are you updating your current version of iTunes?
If you're installing iTunes for the first time have you tried redownloading the installer package? Perhaps the file you downloaded originally is corrupted...

If you've tried that, then try installing iTunes as your computer's administrator. To do this right-click the install package and choose "Run as administrator".
If you're updating iTunes to the most recent version try repairing the Apple Software Update program on your computer. It's under the add/remove programs.
    1. Open the control panel
    2. Open Add/Remove programs (called "Programs and Features" in Windows 7)
    3. Navigate to "Apple Software Update" in the list and click on it
    4. Click on "Change" then select "Repair" (or just select the repair option in Windows 7)
Once you repair this, try running iTunes and the update again.
    Fingers crossed!
