Flash9d.ocx Error crashing IE 7

Hi,
I am a developer and the site I work on is causing
Flash9d.ocx errors sometimes randomly after clicking or if I leave
it running overnight will always cause it. It sounds like a memory
leak - I was wondering is there anything I can do to my code to
prevent this from happening i.e. developing it in AS3 instead of
AS2 - or does it not matter this bug will happen no matter what.
I have unistalled flash using provided unistaller and
installed newest player but it is still happening - as the site is
a very popular commericial site and we are inidated with customers
with their browser crashing and it is starting to reflect really
bad on us.
I really need a solution apart from unistall and reinstall -
I have a top spec quad core machine and only ever open one tab at a
time - but it is ridiculous to tell our customers to do this.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE OFFER SOME DECENT ADVICE!!!!!

Please open a support case (
http://www.adobe.com/support/flash)
and ask to be escalated.

    OK
So apparently im not the only person with this issue from
what ive read in forums online. I have tried all the listed fixs
that ive found but every time i go to msn games i get the
flash9d.ocx internet explorer has to shut down error. Ive wiped my
computer 4 times in the past 2 days to try and fix the issue but i
guess thats not good enough because its still happening. I would
really appreciate it if someone could give me some useful advise so
that my games work. Please dont tell me to download adobe
uninstaller cause ive already tried that. Dont tell me to to copy
and past the flash9d.ocx file....paste and rename the new file
flash.ocx.....dont delete the orginal file...blah blah blah cause
ive done that too. I just want something that works.

i've got my fingers crossed, cec.
if we can't get itunes to launch again this time, let's try enlisting some additional technical help.
we'll get a crash log from itunes, and send it to so someone who can interpret crash logs.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Log out of the account that itunes is launching in and log into the account that itunes crashes in. launch itunes, collect the crash log, and send it to this email address
    in the email:
    (1) state the precise version number of itunes that you're using. (go into your "Help > About iTunes" to doublecheck.)
    (2) include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • An error occurred while installing file Flash9D.ocx.

Depending on where I get the download from, either
Flash9D.ocx or Download.dll gives me the error - "Cannot copy file
to destination directory." What is the destination directory?
Vitals:Win XP Pro, IE 6.0, IE Security - Medium

On XP Flash ocx installs to this folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
So you do need write access to that folder during the
    installation.
But that might not be the problem. Give us some more complete
steps describing what you're doing and how it fails..

  • Flash9d.ocx version still crashes IE7

I'm running an HP XP media center with SP2 and IE7.
    Have all the latest updates.
Uninstalled and reinstalled browser and Flash many times
    through many versions.
Tried the bug fix mentioned in this forum.
When on a page with flash video, ie. youtube, myspace, etc.,
the browser still crashes because of Flash9d.ocx. This has happened
on a regular basis, for over a year now. Even with a single page up
it will crash shortly after the page loads, but sometimes it will
    hold out a little longer.
I've been reading the forums so I know this is not uncommon.
I've tried to call Adobe, but their system disconnects the
call after a couple of minutes on hold. (There's a pattern there!)
Microsoft says it's a problem with the Flash player. Adobe
says nothing! Why don't Adobe and Microsoft communicate on this. I
send in a crash analysis every time it happens. The report
outlines, in detail, exactly what caused the crash. It mentions
something about illegal memory access or overflow. I don't have one
up now so don't remember the exact wording.
Is anyone working on this, officially, or has it been
    ignored?
Does anyone else provide a flash player, other than Adobe?
This has been going on far too long.

Regarding Flash Player 9 crashing (primarily with IE7)
We are aware of this issue and it is being actively
investigated. We do not know when we might have a 100% fix, but the
Flash Player 9 public beta (9.0.60.184 from labs.adobe.com)
significantly reduces the rate of crashing for most people.
Things you can do to reduce the possibility of crashing:
-- update to the beta Flash Player Update 3 (9.0.60.184) from
    http://labs.adobe.com. And be
certain to update to the final Flash Player 9 Update 3 release when
    it is available.
-- reduce the number of tabs open in an instance of IE7.
Reducing the number of tabs simultaneously running SWFs will reduce
the amount of memory consumed, and will decrease the likelihood for
    the crash condition to occur.
-- if you have X number of tabs open and crash, try limiting
yourself to X-3 tabs or so. For example, if you have 7 tabs open
and crash fairly consistently, try to limit yourself to 6 tabs. If
    6 tabs fail, try 5.
-- Launch new instances of IE7, and limit the number of tabs
    launched per instance
Optionally, as suggested above, you do have the option to use
Flash Player 8 in the interim:
-- rolling back to Flash Player 8 using the technote
"Archived Flash players available for testing purposes" (
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14266).
You'll need to be vigilant about preventing any Flash Player 9
updates. And note that this will prevent you from viewing any
content that requires Flash Player 9.

  • Flash9d.ocx

ie crashs and i get error messages stating "flash9d.ocx" has
a problem. i have tried to upgrade my flash player then i get error
message that "flash9f.ocx" has a problem. how do i fix the
    problem?

Does IE crash on every page or just on specific one? It
needn't be necessarily a problem with the plugin, it's much more
likely that it's just a bad movie on the page...
Anyway, you can try first uninstalling flash player from
control panel, add&remove programs before installing it
    again.

What does "randomly" mean? What do you do, when the issue appears? Do you run games before? Use other programs? Also check the Event Viewer for the exact cause...

  • After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Looks" URGENT!

My name is Tyler and i'm a Mult-Media Editor in training. Just recently meaning just this project i've been getting this error "After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Looks”." every time i try to render. If i try to remove the clip where it messes up and replace it with another it will just mess up in another spot.

    2. Upgrade Magic Bullet Looks to MBL 2.0 from Magic Bullet Suite 11 (Didn't Work)
    3. Uninstall my gfx card and re-install it with the newer version (Didn't Work)
    4. Reset AE preferences by pressing alt+shift+ctrl on the shortcut (Didn't Work)

I've never had this problem before and hope that someone has a solution to this problem... if so please post an answer. I don't know if its because i put the plug in on all of my clips and then made an adjustment layer with another Magic Bullet Looks or if it's my clips fault but i just dont know what to do.
    -Tyler

It sounds like Looks is only crashing on this project. If that is so then it's most likely a problem with one of your video clips. Either there's a corrupted frame or some other codec glitch that's throwing the errors. I'd suggest replacing footage items with temporary footage. You could even use solids. Replace one at a time, then undo, until you find the footage that's causing the crash. Then either re-compress that footage to another codec or replace it.
If Looks is crashing on every type of footage then you need to pursue other options that are more system related.

  • Catalyst 4000 - Config registers and error crashes

    Two questions.
I have two Cat4500s, one of which suspiciously rebooted a few hours ago. I don't have valid syslog data for these devices. This is the system boot message:
System returned to ROM by abort at PC 0x0
I haven't been able to find any information about this boot message and have checked the BUS error crashes URL:
    http://cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1831/products_tech_note09186a00800cdd51.shtml
Does anyone know what "abort at PC 0x0" means? Does this provide any indication as to why the switch rebooted?
Also, these 4500s have different configuration registers.
    "Switch-1" has 0x102
    "Switch-2" has 0x2102
Again, I can't find the URL that describes the values of the various configuration registers. What do these two config registers indicate?
    Thanks.

  • Extract Edit Across a Dissolve causes Serious Error Crash

    Hoping that:
    1 - There's an update soon - it's been a while since we've had anything significant.
2 - This particular bug gets addressed.
I'm on a new Mac Pro - 64 GB Dual Hexacore 2.93 GHz.  Running Raid 0 internal with a Blade SSD in the 16x PCI slot. Other than Chrome, Motion (To get the Pro Codecs) and the Adobe Suite, I've installed nothing else on this rig.  Software updates are latest version
Quadro 4000 updated to latest published non-beta CUDA drivers.
I'm doing trim edits on a feature.  The timelines I'm working in are about 6 minutes long (Broken up by sequences).  Working in ProRes 422.
    Issue:
When I try to do an extract edit and either the in or the out point touches an audio dissolve, I get a Serious Error Crash.
My current Work-Around is to remove all the dissolves before I extract - but I have 8 channels of Audio and its an action film, so there's a LOT to remove.
    Eager for an update.

Since this is a new rig, I'm assuming this is a PPro CS6 installation you're referring to?

  • Can't get past OCX error when installing ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003

I have been trying to install ODAC 11g on Windows Server 2003 and can't get past the OCX error when registering oravsdbgeng11w.dll. I've read every message on this forum even remotely related to this problem and tried every solution offered. I have done a clean install into a new Oracle home, and made sure Instant Client is always included. All service packs and automatic updates have been installed. For what it's worth I have successfully installed ODAC 11g on Windows XP Pro.
If anyone out there has been able to get this up and running and would care to share the wisdom that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Michael, as you already noticed, every time I have seen this issue it has been because ODT was being installed into an Oracle home where no client exists, or perhaps installed into an old oracle home where the client was an old version (eg Oracle10), or the client was broken. Usually though, the user unchecked the instant client checkbox during the ODAC install.
So you say you checked instant client and you still got the error? That doesn't add up...
Are you using 32-bit windows? If you are using 64 bit windows be sure to tell us.
Why don't you try avoiding using instant client at all, in case it is somehow not getting installed properly.
You can do this as follows:
    1) Under the download links on OTN, go to the database download page.
    2) Download the Oracle Database client 11g for Microsoft Windows
    3) Run this installer and Install ODP.NET 1.x and 2.x into a new Oracle home from this client install, but nothing else. If ODP.NET is not listed there (it has been a long time since I looked at that) than just install a minimal Oracle client install.
    4) Close the installer
    5) Go back and install ODAC and this time choose "Oracle Server" radio button during the install (rather than the client install)
    6) Install ODT and ODP.NET at least and be sure they are being installed into the Oracle home created in the first steps above.
This will avoid use of Instant Client and will hopefully avoid the OCX error. Let me know if this solves your problem.

  • After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking plug-in Classic 3D

I am Adobe After Effects CS6 11.0.4 on a windows 7 64 bit PC with 16gb of ram.  I encounter this error: crash occurred while invoking plug-in Classic 3D when rendering. There was a similar thread stating there exists a fix for this issue for After Effects CC 12.2.1 . That fix does not work for version 11.0.4  Does a similar fix exist for version 11.0.4? Or can we have this fix created for version 11.0.4?

The Adobe download site for AE shows that I am on the latest version.  I also ran the check updates from AE. It also stated that I am on the latest version.  (Adobe - After Effects : For Windows ) What is the latest version that you are referencing?
