Flashdrive noticed but not read

I recently purchased an HP DM4T laptop from HP online. As soon as it came, I went and bought an eight- gigabyte Micro Sleek Attache PNY flashdrive. I plug it into the computer and here the sound. Autoplay doesn't pop up and the flashdrive doesn't appear in my computer. it does appear, however, in the device manager. When I try to assign a drive letter to it via the MMC command ( I am using windows seven home premium, by the way), I am told to refresh the console. No matter how many times I refresh, this problem persists. The flashdrive works fine on my Dell Inspiron desktop and my ancient HP tablet PC running XP. WHen I try to reformat using the HP formatting tool, I am told the drive is write protected (Even though it wasn't on the other computers). When trying to use the format utility directly from PNY, I am told that the utility is not available for my OS? Isn't PNY the offiicial maker of Flashdrives for HP? I have seen an exact copy of the flashdrive of the one I am using for sale on the HP website, except it has the HP logo and is only four gigabytes instead of eight. I have tested the flashdrive in multiple ports and have tested other devices in the ports to test whether they are working. They are. I have tried to update my USB drivers but am told that they are up-to-date. Please help.

I am having exactly the same problem as Llama Lady.
My iPhone 3GS is hooked up to my Outlook Server. it is receiving and sending emails fine.
Those I receive can only be read in the 'summary' - when I try to view the message there is no text or images, just blank.
Likewise, when I open an email to send, I can type in an address and subject, but cannot type at all in the main body of the email. Indeed I cannot even get a cursor in the main body.
I have been through settings and compared them with another iPhone and can't see anything different. Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

  • Flattening annotations (comments) changes highlight color in Acrobat, but not Reader

    I have a pdf document with multiple comments consisting of sentences highlighted with different colors. The colors are the default, bright colors in the default commenting "Highlighter Tool Properties" palette. When I flatten with either Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 or X (Tools - Print Production - Preflight - flatten annotations and form fields) the colors of the highlights change from the normal 'bright' colors to dull 'pantone'-like colors. Interestingly, if I view the flattened file with Reader, the colors are fine (back to the bright colors), but when viewing with Acrobat Pro they are the dull pantone colors. It is as if there is a 'flag' in the file telling Acrobat (but not Reader) to change the displayed highlight colors.
    I'm using Mac OS X 10.9.5
    Does anyone know how I might change this so that the highlight colors do not change when flattening?
    Thanks

    Well, I was able to answer my own question. You have to go into "Flattener Preview" and change "Color Space" from the default "none" to something else, in my case, "Device RGB". Also, make sure to set page range.

  • HT4059 why can you browse, and buys books from itunes but not read them on my iMac?  Pretty lame I think. my kindle show up across all my computers, iPhones and Android devices no problem.

    just wondering why you can browse, buy on itunes but not read on an imac. My kindle apps work on the imac, ipod, asus netbook, iphone and android devices.  Why not ibooks on imac?

    "just wondering why you can browse, buy on itunes but not read on an imac. "
    Because Apple does not make an ibook reader for computers.

    Hello @ahmadhaseeb31,
    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
    I have read your post on how your notebook is not able to read DVDs, but can read CDs, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    In terms of the type of DVD that can be played on your computer, is it able to read DL (Dual Layered) or SL (Single Layered) discs? Do the DVDs that you have tried on your notebook work on a separate DVD player or another computer? I would also encourage you to post which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!
    Which Windows operating system am I running?
    Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
    Please re-post with the necessary information, this way I will be able to research this further for you. I look forward to your reply!
    Cheers!

  • Combo / Optical Drive detected but not reading CD & DVD

    Hi everyone,
    Firstly, I apologize if this topic has been covered but I've searched up and down and couldn't find it.
    I'm running the following computer:
    G4 MDD Dual 1.42Ghz, 1Gb RAM, OS 10.4
    My computer has been dormant for about a month now and last night I fired it up with the following problem: _Grey screen with spinning 'loading' icon and it wouldn't get into the desktop_
    I managed to successfully boot to the desktop after I did a combination of the following:
    1. Reboot in Safe Mode (Shift)
    2. Reset NVRAM (Opt + Cmd + O + F)
    3. Reset PRAM (Opt + Cmd + P + R)
    4. Removed all 3rd party cables
    I haven't used the Combo/Optical Drive for about a month now and I decided that maybe I should re-install Tiger. When I inserted the Installer CD, the Combo Drive (1st slot) just ignored it. Initially, Superdrive (2nd slot) also ignores all discs I inserted. After countless restarts, I managed to get the Superdrive to read the G4 Hardware Test CD.
    I've done the following:
    1. Finder preference is set to not ignore inserted media
    2. Tinkered with the Optical drive by unplugging and plugging it back
    3. Everything else I could find on the internet regarding troubleshooting it
    4. Made sure that the cables are connected properly inside the computer
    5. Ran the Apple Hardware Test CD and everything is OK.
    6. Checked with the System Profiler and it detects both Optical Drives (1st slot = Combo Drive, 2nd slot = Superdrive).
    Now the problem is:
    1. Combo Drive does not read any inserted disc (CD & DVD)
    2. Superdrive reads but spits them out soon after
    3. I can't re-install Tiger
    Any advice / suggestions is very much appreciated.

    Hi David,
    My computer has been dormant for about a month
    Have you checked the PRAM Battery, they can cause strange things & last 4+5 years...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/BAA36VPRAM/
    Combo Drive does not read any inserted disc (CD & DVD)
    Opticals do go out, but 2 at once doesn't seem likely. What happens if you open Disk Utility then insert a Disc?
    Have you tried a Cleaner CD in them?

  • Form is giving me error in Acrobat 8, but not Reader 8?

    Ok, so I created a form in Livecycle Designer, and I made it so that when a certain option is selected from the drop down box, new form fields will automatically pop up. First off, there is one box that takes a few seconds to pop up when the selection is made and disappear when I de-select it. The rest appear and disappear immediately, but that first one takes up to 10 seconds. How can I fix this? Also, my form will allow you to choose an option from the drop down in Adobe Reader 8, but when I try to open it in Acrobat 8 Standard, it won't let me use the drop down box that auto generates the form fields. Why is this and how can I fix it? All it does when I try to make a selection in the drop down is show the hourglass next to the mouse, the scroll bar lengthens then shortens, but it will not select the option. But, like I said, in Reader it works almost perfectly except for the one box that takes a few seconds to appear. Ideas anyone? I desperately need help!! PM me if you want to see an example.

    I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
    Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
    Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
    Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
    However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
    Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • InitState works in Acrobat but not Reader

    Hi I am new here and not very good with javascript, so please bare with me.
    I have created a document with five radio buttons that toggle between layers via executing OCG .state and .initState scripts depending on which button is selected.  Both work fine in Acrobat in setting the current state and the default state of the layers. But when I open the document in Reader, only .state seems to toggle between layer visibility and .initState fails to set the default state of layers.  Essentially what I need is to be able to set the default state to layers in Reader.   I noticed that the Layer Properties panal is not editable in reader and that this may be the culprit, but I can not find how to activate it or to even enable manualy setting the default state of layers to on or off.
    In addition to the FindOCG script at the document level here are samples of what I have set as mouse up actions to the radio buttons.
    FindOCG("LayerName).state = true;
    FindOCG("LayerName").initState = true;
    Each of these is its own action.
    I am using Acrobat Pro 10.1.8 and Reader 11.0.3 on Windows 7 Ultimate.
    Any help with this would be greatly apriciated.
    Thanks
    Jesse

    I have a project to create editable business cards to be distributed through our franchise system.  We have several designs and combinations of double sided business cards.  In short my goal was to be able to toggle between combinations of front and back designs (1st and 2nd pages) in the form of different layers for double sided business cards.  It seemed doable at first and is functioning just fine in Acrobat.  I thought it would be nice to distribute one PDF rather than several, which is what our franchisees like. The PDFs have form fields for all the variable information.  I can toggle between form and design layouts, but the design layouts do not hold after saving and re-opening in Reader because in adition to toggling the layer visibility I have to set the default open state of the visible layers to on so that when the PDF is re-openend, say at a press to be printed, the correct layers are displayed and printed without the press having to make any edits.  The .initState simply is not effecting the default states in Reader.  As for runtime code, I don't know what that is.  I don't know much about coding, I figured out just enough to get this far.

  • Designer 7.0  form working with Reader 7.0.5 but not Reader 7.0.8

    Hello everyone,
    I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with a formed created using Designer 7.0 that was working with Reader 7.0.5 but no longer functions with Reader 7.0.8?
    The form consists of a numeric textbox N1 and 2 checkboxes C1[0] and C1[1].
    All code is done using FormCalc.
    Here is the situation: if the number in the numeric box is blank or not greater then zero, then neither check box can be checked. Both check boxes can not be checked at the same time. If the value in the numeric box is greater then zero, the checkboxes may or may not be checked (again both can not be checked at the same time).
    N1 has code the following code in its exit event:
    if (($.isNull) or ($.rawValue le 0)) then
    C1[0].rawValue = 0 //if not positive value, checkboxes must be blank
    C1[1].rawValue = 0
    endif
    C1[0] has the following code in its click and exit event
    if (C1[0].rawValue == 1) then
    C1[1].rawValue = 0 //C1[0] and C1[1] can not both be checked
    endif
    if ((N1.isNull) or (N1.rawValue le 0)) then
    $.rawValue = 0 //uncheck if N1 is not positive
    endif
    C1[1] has the following code in its click and exit event
    if (C1[1].rawValue == 1) then
    C1[0].rawValue = 0 //C1[0] and C1[1] can not both be checked
    endif
    if ((N1.isNull) or (N1.rawValue le 0)) then
    C1[1].rawValue = 0 //uncheck if N1 is not positive
    endif
    The above code worked exactly as described when the form was used in Reader 7.0.5.
    Under Reader 7.0.8 the following happens:
    if N1 is blank or less then or equal to zero, both checkboxes can be checked at the same time (this should not happen at all) but neither can be unchecked
    if N1 is positive the code (and checkboxes) function as described.
    I am not sure if this is a Designer issue or a Professional/Reader issue, so I am posting this here as well as in the other 2 spots.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Ben

    Chris,
    Thank you for the sample you provided. First, I must apologize for not mentioning that there was additional code in the Click event. I thought I had removed it from my form, but apparently I had not.
    I have compare the sample you provided to my form. I noticed several differences between them. First was that you used Designer 7.1 to create your sample, whereas I used Designer 7.0. I do not believe that this will have an impact, although it is possible. Also, in your sample, then click and exit events both need to contain the same "check" code. Your sample has one IF statement in the click event and one IF statement in the exit event. To match my form code, the Click and Exit events together need to contain both IF statements. My form originally contained the code in the Change event also.
    i.e. C1[0] has the following code in both its Click, Exit and Change events
    if (C1[0].rawValue == 1) then
    C1[1].rawValue = 0 //C1[0] and C1[1] can not both be checked
    endif
    if ((N1.isNull) or (N1.rawValue le 0)) then
    $.rawValue = 0 //uncheck if N1 is not positive
    endif
    and similarly for C1[1].
    Based off your sample, I did some more digging and found that the problem is caused by the Change event for the checkboxes. I have removed the code from the Change event and now the form works as desired.
    So, if the Change event has NO code, and if the Click and Exit events for the checkboxes have both IF statements the overall behavior (as specified earlier) is identical (and what I am looking for) for both Reader 7.0.5 and 7.0.8.
    Now, if I add the IF statements to the Change event (without removing them from Click and Exit), the behavior in Reader 7.0.5 does not change (works as specified). In Reader 7.0.8, the checkboxes can not be unchecked if N1 is blank.
    So my questions now become:
    1) What has actually changed between Reader 7.0.5 and 7.0.8 (i.e. more detailed description than the generic release notes)?
    2) Which one actually exhibits the correct behavior?
    3) If this is a change to the event model, is this documented anywhere?
    Thanks again,
    Ben

  • Adobe Acrobat associates but not reader

    I have windows Vista.
    I also have adobe reader latest version 8.1.2 and adobe acrobat 7.0 professional full program .
    I can tell windows to associate either reader or full prg to open pdfs and usually works ok.
    I also am creating an information and training cd with autorun pro enterprise software.
    If I associate a pdf with acrobat full version it starts acrobat and displays the pdf, but when I associate it with reader it displays a windows error message saying that there is no association with the file type you have selected or words to that affect.
    This is annoying as obviously most people will not have the full version only the reader.
    Can anyone suggest anything to remedy this please

    >This is annoying as obviously most people will not have the full version only the reader.
    It should work for them.
    It's not recommended to have both applications installed.

  • Break.startNew - works in Reader 9 but not Reader 8

    Something interesting I discovered that I didn't see on the message board..
    I"m using the command:
    subform.break.startNew = "1";
    in javascript to control whether a subform starts on a new page (1) or not (0).  I have a form where in some instances, I want a page break, and in some, I don't.
    I discovered that this command works like a charm in Acrobat 8, and Reader 9, but does not work in Reader 8.

    Excellent! That was it and it is working for him now.
    Sorry if that's a common question, I did several searches before asking.
    So... Why isn't that turned on by default? Don't need an answer just kind of seems like an odd default setting...

  • JavaScript works in Pro but not Reader - NotAllowedError

    I have created a web form in Adobe XI Pro. We have some progress bars at the top with number of fields completed type of thing. All of my JavaScript works perfectly in Acrobat. I save it like so Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools. Again everything works in Acrobat. When I open the PDF in Reader the JavaScript won't work. My forms still fill I can save and such, but no JavaScript progress bars. We create this form frequently and it has always worked. I assume it is some sort of new update to Adobe XI Pro. Here is the error I receive in the debugger:
    NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    Doc.title:27:Document-Level:Progress
    I was thinking it might be related to the security settings these are the only 2 things not allowed.
    Document Assembly : Not Allowed
    Page Extraction: Not Allowed
    But as I read through the forums I am not sure that is actually the problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen

  • After migration of profile, folders can be seen but not read

    1) Screen dump shows folders as expected, but choosing one by clicking on it does not reveal messages 2) the other tabs (created from previous installation) show correct data 3) menu option help / troubleshooting works ok - output attached 4) other menu option do not work (e.g. "Help / About" does nothing) 5) I am running under a brand new installation of Linux Mint 17/ Cinnamon - have tried un-installing / re-installing 6) version installed is 1:31.6.0+build1-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 7) ~/.thunderbird contains two profiles, dw6qkyib.New and q0vb0h3j.default. profiles.ini points to the latter
    (Previously posted same question under [email protected], but could not access the verification email - downloaded from mail server, and lost in the black hole!)

    I think this is a "feature" that has been added in one of the new versions. I can get to see the messages if I click on a folder with the right mouse and select "Open in new tab". However, (in Classic view) selecting a message in the list does not show the body of the email in the bottom pane.
    This, to me, is a broken version. The previous behaviour was completely intuitive: choose any folder in the LHS and this list of massages appeared in the top RH panel, click on any header from the list, and the details were shown below. Why did someone thing this paradigm needed to be changed?
    I would rather go back to a previous version, if I knew when this change was made.
