Flashed BIOS, ethernet card no longer works

I recently flashed my PT880 Neo to 2.0, but Windows XP would no longer recognize my ethernet card. I tried flashing back to an older version but I am still not having any luck. Anyone have this problem before, or have any suggestions? PS - I correctly flashed the BIOS carefully following the included instructions. Thank you

Go back into the bios, restore system defaults, then make your settings, make sure to enable the lan, and then cross your fingers.

  • IBook Ethernet Network no longer working after upgrade to 10.2

This is really strange but i was using ethernet on os 9 and the dhcp server from my speedtouch router came up and everything worked fine. But yesterday i upgraded to os x 10.2 and the ethernet connection no longer works. I have tried unplugging (this usually works with pc crap) and restarting both the ibook and the router. I know that the router is working fine as i am using the same lead on my powerbook to get internet. Here are the ibook specs:
Indego 366mhz (not firewire model), no airport installed and only has ethernet, usb and modem connections. Any help would be appreciated.

1.) Download all OS X 10.2.x updates from software updater.
2.) After all updates are installed, check system profiler to ensure that your network card is detected and operating properly.
3.) Check for updated drivers for your specific network card.
4.) Verfiy and repair permission in OS X, and if possible download Onyx to execute maintenance and cleaning commands.
After all these steps, there should be no more problems.
    Good Luck

  • ITunes restore iPhone SIM Card no longer works.

Ok, I had all my contacts and information backuped onto my computer so I could easily transfer them from my 16GB 3G to my new 32GB 3GS. After being restored and synced with my computer my SIM Card no longer works. It wont let me place a call or text. When I un-plug the SIM Card and then plug it back in a message comes up saying invalid SIM and then disappears. Also it either has 1 "bar" with the rest flat and no AT&T logo or 3G, or says No Service.

Sounds like you need to call AT&T.

  • Iwhy is my sim card no longer working after restoring my 4S

I bought a 4S and had to restore it now my sim card no longer works in my phone. I tried it in another phone and it works so its not the sim card.

I would try two things. First go to the store for your phone carrier and get a new sim card.
If that doesn't work, schedule and appointment with a genius at your closest apple store.

Hi. Unfortunately my ethernet card was not working anymore. This is the message "This computer does not appear to have any PCI Ethernet card. How can I fix it?

i would try an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
if it still gives that message, you need to take it to apple store or apple service provider to have a new card installed. the apple site gives listings of providers and stores in your area:

  • Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor no longer works

    Hi All,
After upgrading to Maverick I find my Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor no longer works. Network app insists the cable isn't connected but the cable works fine with other pcs (a Raspberry Pi for instance).  Any suggestions?
    R.

If you have access to the Companies Intranet then the Ethernet connection is working just fine. The computer is getting a valid IP address from the companies DHCP server.
You need to take this up with the IT staff as it seems whatever IP your computer is getting it is being block from going out to the internet.

  • My credit card no longer works for purchases, the error message states to contact my bank to authorize online purchases

Credit card no longer works error states to contact bank to authorize online purchases. Error occurred following update to IOS 8.

Then you need to contact the bank. Apple does not authorize or not, but the bank would. If a transaction were denied, it would be the bank that denies it, not Apple. Contact the bank and see if there is a problem.

  • Ethernet card no longer showing in ifconfig [solved]

    Hey,
Normally I don't have any problems with my networking, but this morning my wireless decided not to work. I haven't made made any changes in the past couple of days, so unsure what has caused it. Last Syu was on Thursday and every day including up until last night was fine.
So spent a while trying stuff out and stressing my tiny little brain for ideas, quick version is I did this:
    netcfg: said interface didn't exist.
ifconfig: didn't list the interface (wireless is usually eth1)
lsmod: confirmed the module (ipw2200) was loaded
lspci: confirmed the card was there
After copying the output of the above commands plus the obligatory rc.conf onto usb to move to this machine (and just before pushing <submit> on a much larger post than this :-) I decided to check the mac address listed in ifconfig with what is on the sticker under my machine. Voila! My wireless has actually moved to eth0. OK, that's that solved. (Wish I checked that first though...)
But that means that the reason that my wireless card is now eth0 instead of eth1 is because my old-skool wired ethernet card is no longer there to be numero 0. Why isn't it working? lsmod shows that the tg3 module is loading (it's an Intel card with Broadcom chipset in a Thinkpad T43) , but it no longer shows up in ifconfig. lspci is not showing it (see below), only the wireless card comes up. Does this mean the hardware is borken? What else can I do to check the card?

Yeah, doesn't give me anything about the ethernet card, but does show the wireless one. No, hang on, just found it. Hmmm, didn't see it before, but I was grepping for 'net' then.
    $ dmesg | grep -i eth
    eth1: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95751M) rev 4101] (PCI Express) MAC address 00:12:34:56:78:9a
    eth1: attached PHY is 5750 (10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet) (WireSpeed[1])
    eth1: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] TSOcap[1]
    eth1: dma_rwctrl[76180000] dma_mask[64-bit]
OK, so it is at eth1 now, that makes sense since I put ipw2200 right at the beginning and tg3 right at the end of the MODULES array in rc.conf to avoid the system getting crossed up while trying load them too close together. Thanks B, so at least we know something is happening at boot time.
Btw, my assumption is that ifconfig shows hardware once it is loaded correctly, is that right? But apart from the modules, what else do I need to do to get it showing up in ifconfig?

  • Ethernet card doesn't work with new arch install?

    Hi guys,
so this is kinda my first post, not that I'm new to arch i just never had an issue i couldn't figure out on my own... But i love arch i have been using it for about a year now and have had no serious problems except for this. I have had arch running on an older dell vostro 200 desktop before i reinstalled with a vary similar issue except that the fix i came up with doesn't work anymore. I will tell you about the first issue first because i ALMOST posted on here about it originally but i figured out a way to make it work even though it was a hassle.
After cold/rebooting my computer the network card doesn't work at all. lspci reported that the kernel module e1000e was the correct one (i have verified this) and that the kernel has loaded it, i verified that with dmesg but still it wouldn't work. After much much anguish and hairpulling, I realized that it had to have something to do with the module so i tried forcing it to reload with rmmod e1000e and modprobe e1000e and it still wouldn't work until i physically unpluged the ethernet cord and pluged it back in until the light on the NIC turned on. After that everything works as normal i could even unplug and plug it back in with no problems. So eventually i wrote a script that did this for me (except for the uplugging and plugging part)  and i used that when i cold/rebooted.
But now i have the exact same issue after reinstalling arch to the T except for the fact that the (crazy) fix i came up with doesn't work now. I used my "fix" after booting from the arch cd and it worked just like it always has. And now after rebooting into my fresh system the fix doesn't work anymore. So now i'm back where i was to begin with but i have no idea what to try next. I didn't do anything particularly different during installation except i added a udev rule for the e1000e module just to see if somehow that would fix the problem... it didnt and i have since deleted that (to see if it was the problem). The only other thing that is different is the root and home are now btrfs partitions instead of ext4.
I have booted several other live cds and dvds (diferent distros) including arch derivatives such as manjaro and they all worked just fine, using the same kernel module (e1000e).  I'm not sure what that could mean but i know that it means there is a fix for this some way or another. I am going to hook up a wifi adapter and connect that computer to the internet to put some more information up if it's needed (asked for) but for now  lspci -vnn | grep -i -A 10 net reports

  • My Apple TV is a useless brick now.  Ethernet port no longer works.

Not sure, but it seems after an update, my ethernet port does not work.  I can plug it into the PS3 and works fine.  I HAVE TO use WiFi now or my Apple TV is a useless piece of plastic that looks "oh so Apple Cool."  Yea, whatever Apple.  I have been using this same port for almost 2 years with no issue.
    thoughts?

It may well be a hardware failure but a few things to try:
Unplug from main for 5-10 mins and restart it.
Reset settings in the Settings menus.
Last resort - try to factory restore to current software using a microUSB cable to hook it up to a computer running iTunes.
Assume you don't have Apple care (even if you did I think it's only 2 years on AppleTVs anyway).

  • Right-click Flash selection of webcams no longer works. Bug?

After some tense struggles and several failed webcam swaps, our support team discoverd that using right-click to select a webcam no longer works after our hosted service's recent upgrade. Is this necessary, or a bug?

Yes, the menu driven webcam selection process works fine. It's just the old way to select webcam source that no longer works. The worst part is there's no indication that the selection process that has always worked no longer works. Hence my technican swapping webcams, assuming they aren't working.

To through a spanner in the works, the sound card works fine with my MBP with the same lead and the same 10.8.4 OS.
A second call to AC this afternoon, after checking my MBP worked OK, was a wasted call. Sadly he didn't have a clue and kept pointing me in the direction of divers... for WINDOWS!!!

  • [SOLVED] Jmicron ethernet card doesn't work

    HI there,
I am installing Arch64 on Sager NP8170 laptop. Networking card is Jmicron PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, which is controlled by kernel-build module JME.
    Command
    lsmod | grep jme
shows that module is loaded. Ping to sites does not work.
    dhcpcd eth0
    is timed out.
I loaded the latest module from www.jmicron.com. The driver is compiled by the following Makefile:
    MODNAME := jme
    TEMPFILES := $(MODNAME).o $(MODNAME).mod.c $(MODNAME).mod.o Module.symvers .$(MODNAME).*.cmd .tmp_versions modules.order

  • Updated T61p to new BIOS, now Hibernate no longer works

I just updated to the newest T61 BIOS released 1/09, and now I can't hibernate.  If I try to initiate hibernation, nothing happens for about 10 minutes, then the popup window comes up, and within another 10 seconds the machine locks up completely.
I've tried to disable hibernation, reboot, CHKDSK with bad sector search (JIC I had a bad block), reboot, defrag, chkdsk again, then reenable hibernation.  Checked to find that the hibernate file was contiguous (was), then tried again.  Same problem.
It's broke.  Sure seems to me that it was caused by the update, since it has worked flawlessly and I typically use the function several times each day.
    Help!

BIOS updates don't typically cause issues with the hibernation file, nor hard disks to develop bad sectors.  you also didn't mention what the operating system is.
my suggestion would be to temporarily disable hibernation, scan for & repair defective sectors, then re-enable hibernation.
    disable hibernation:
    1. backup/copy your important files first  (documents, music, etc)
    2. open a command console  (see note #2 below how to do that, if necessary)
    3. at the command prompt, Enter cd\  (change to root directory)
    4. Enter powercfg /hibernate off  (disables hibernation)
    5. Enter attrib  (lists attributes of files in root directory)
    6. if 'hiberfil.sys' does not exist, skip to step 8, otherwise proceed to step 7
    7. Enter attrib -s -h hiberfil.sys && del /f hiberfil.sys
    8. Enter chkntfs /t:10 && chkdsk /r c:  (type Y and press Enter when prompted to schedule a scan)
    9. Enter exit in the command window and restart windows
    - chkdsk will preempt the boot process when the system is restarted
    - WAIT for chkdsk to scan & remap defective sectors (this may take a LONG time)
    - the system will reboot itself when chkdsk completes
    - then log back in to windows
    re-enable hibernation:
    1. open a command console
    2. Enter powercfg /hibernate on && exit
    3. done
    Notes:
    1. 'Enter' means type the command shown and press the Enter key
    2. to launch a command console, type CMD in the Start Search box and press Enter when 'cmd' appears under the Programs category.  a command console (dos prompt window) should open.
    3. for best performance, you might want to do a full disk defragmentation before re-enabling the hibernation file... run defrag c: -f from the command line at least twice (two or more passes may be necessary to do a thorough defrag)
