Flasher player 10.1 needs to be reinstalled

This last month I have had a number of computers prompt the users that they need to install flasher player 10 when going to web sites that use flash player. These computers have flash player 10.1 installed.  When I go that computer, and do an install from the adobe web site, I get a message saying that Flash player 10.1 is installed, do i want to reinstall it.  I say yes.  After the reinstall, I go to the web site that was having the problem and now it works.
This problem has been coming up ever since Flash player 10.1 was released.  Previous version was never causing this problem.  Some computers I have reinstalled it more than once.
Why?

Hi, Just a comment to your situation based on your information, as it seems to be somewhat different than the other threads.
You said:
What happens is the user will go to a Web site that needs flash to view a video.  They try to play it and get prompted that they need flash player 10 or something like that.  Some times it will ask them if they want to go to the Adobe site and install it, which they can not as a user.
This indicates to me that the ActiveX Control that is Installed in IE, was either the previous version of FP, or not Enabled.
The websites are looking for that, the "Shockwave Flash Object". Since Flash Player is a browser plugin(ActiveX for IE) and a Shockwave Flash plugin for non-IE browsers) then that must be there and Enabled. For some reason the Websites did not detect it. They are not looking at the Flash files themselves that are Installed in the C:\ (Flash folder). Youtube is always telling the users, you don't have Flash Player Installed or you lack JavaScript:-) That is why.
Now what is different in your situation, is that when the first Uninstall was done, an old Flash file was not removed for some reason. Then when you did another Uninstall, it was. With IE, whenever I work with a User here, I always advise them that after the first Reboot after the Uninstall is run, to Reboot again to insure all old Flash files are removed. Now I don't know how this works with the GPO, I only know it ensures a clean Uninstall and paves the way for a clean Install with a User not using GPO.
The Flash files that are Installed and the Shockwave Flash Object must be the same version, otherwise there is conflict.
Hope this info helps explain what may have happened.

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • I need some help with Flash Player. I have to constantly reinstall it on my computer.

Can someone please help me with this??

Pat, I have a Dell XPS Computer using Windows 7. I have had it for a little over a year and had no problems what so ever. Now all of a sudden my Flash Player has to be reinstall at least once every day if not more to work, but it does work great after it's reinstalled for as long as it will last. It does work fine when I use Google Chrome and I never have a problem there. I have uninstalled all of my Adobe products and reinstalled them but it did not help. I run Malware Bytes at least once a week and use System Mechanic every day and neither has found any problems with my system. I am not a tech but I am not a novis either.   Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!!!!  Thanks

  • Flash Player will not work even upon reinstalling it

    Hello!
I am having quite the time trying to get Adobe Flash Player
to work! Seemingly "out of nowhere", none of the youtube videos of
my nephew were visible on the site any longer, when they had
previously been working just fine. When I went to the page, using
IE7, there was a blank spot where the video should be. However, at
that time, I *was* able to view the video using FireFox. I thought
this was unusual that it would work in Firefox but no longer be
    working in IE7.
I checked to see if javascript was turned on in both browsers
    -- it was. I have javascript enabled in Firefox2 (tools/ options/
content/ enable javascript; under advanced settings "disable or
replace context menus" is checked, although I don't know if this
    applies), and in IE7 (tools/ options/ security/ custom Level/
    scripting/ active scripting/ enable).
Since this didn't seem to be the problem, the only thing I
could think of doing was to uninstall Flash Player. In my Add or
Remove Programs, I saw Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash
Player Plug-In. I went to Adobe's site, and found a document
entitled "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and
ActiveX control", which said you need to use an Adobe program for
the uninstall, which I did. I then rebooted the computer. Next I
installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX.
When I viewed the youtube videos, they now showed just fine
    in both IE7 and Firefox.
I closed down the computer and went to bed happy it was
    fixed.
The next morning, upon startup, I was dismayed to find that
the problem had started all over again, although now the video was
no longer viewable in *either* IE7 or Firefox.
In Firefox, I see the message "Hello, you either have
JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.
Get the latest Flash player." In IE7, I see no message; just a
    blank spot.
Again I double-checked that javascript was turned on in both.
I double-checked my Add or Remove Programs, and I can see the
Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX was installed. (And I knew it to be
working before I shut the computer down.)
I feel like I am going bananas.
Does anyone know what could be going on? Might you have any
insight as to why it would first stop working in one browser, work
in both browsers upon reinstalling it but before turning off the
computer, and then not work in either browser upon starting up the
    computer again?
Thank you so much! I just appreciate your help more than I
    can say!
    Happy day to you!
    Karen

Thanks.  This worked for me, too.
And this is what I used to do the uninstall, so I could re-install from the webpage:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
I placed this .exe file in this install directory . . .
    {C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash}
. . . along with a ReadMe file that contained this notation:
    <uninstall_flash_player.exe> was obtained manually from:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
...and not installed in this directory as part of the Flashplayer install.
This was obtained as part of an attempt to correct Flashplayer suddenly not working in MSIE.
Correcting this problem involved unistalling and re-installing Flash, but uninstalling via the normal Pgm.Accs+Dflts facility did not seem to work correctly; i.e., the subsequent re-intall failed to correct the problem: even though the download webpage indicated a successful install, the Flash animation did not appear. However, using the above .exe file does allow a truly successful subsequent re-install.

  • On a Mac, unable to install latest Flash Player 12.0.0.44--or reinstall previous version that worked

I am on a Mac running the last version of Snow Leopard before Mavericks, 10.8.5.  I am unable to install the new Flash Player 12.0.0.4--at about the 50% mark on the installing bar, it stops and I get an error message that installation failed.  The version I had previously for some time, either 10. or 11. worked perfectly but I am not unable to reinstall any previous version either.  So I have a project I cannot run that requires Flash Player and can't watch videos.
I found someone in a forum who mentioned he'd seen several people on Snow Leopard unable to install Flash Player but his directions to overcome that which did work for someone who tried it, appear to be for PC's: from his first direction of right-clicking, I didn't get the option he says to click on that starts the process.
Can anyone tell me how to install this new Flash Player in a Mac on Snow Leopard?  Should I trash all the new versions of the installer and the Flash Player Debugger Version 11.4.402.287 (11.4) that I have from a previous installment, prior to trying again?
    Thanks for any help.

What I'm looking for is specifically the "General Installation Error", since it's 10.8.5.
You're missing a file that was made visible by the 10.8.5 update. Hundreds of thousands of Mac users all over the world deleted it, not knowing what it was. It causes this when it's missing.
Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane
    And this one: mach_kernel.zip
Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.
Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"
You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,
and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.
Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,
and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.
    Trash the zip file.
Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".
Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.
Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.

  • Adobe flash player not working- need help urgently

    Hi
I hope somebody would help me
I have windows vista home premium, where few months back when I was using the computer it came for a message requesting me to upgrade my adobe flash player to version 10. which I did and its the biggest mistake
Eversince then I cannot access any videos and the some audios as well.
where  I visited adobe website and followed the instructions to uninstall the flashplayer and reinstalling,
but nothing worked so far, hence I'm unable to view y-tube or any other related videos at all.
I checked the files in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash and I have only below mentioned two files
    flash10e.ocx
    flashutil10e
If somebody could help me on it I would truly appreciate it as I need the flash player urgently for my work.
    cheers
    Himali

    Hi Himali,
Thanks for the info. Following is the information you need to do. Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Adobe Uninstaller: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Select the one for Windows.
Then you will download and SAVE this Installer to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
After you have done that, then you need to follow these steps.
    1. Disconnect from the Internet
    2. Right click on the Trend Micro icon in your system tray and disable/turn off the Anti-Virus and the Firewall
    3. Check the system tray (that area by the clock) for any icons(applications) that use Flash and disable them.
    4. Go to Tools, and click on Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab and set it to Medium for the Internet Zone.
    5. Close all browsers so you are only looking at your Desktop
    6. Click on the Uninstaller on your Desktop and RUN it. When it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer. When it is fully
rebooted, then Reboot again. This is needed to make sure all old Flash files are removed.
    7. Now you will check Trend Micro and the Firewall to make sure it is still disabled. If it isn't, then disable both again.
    8. Click on the Installer on your Desktop and RUN. When finished, Reboot Once.
    9. Check Trend Micro and enable it and the Firewall now.
    10. Re-connect back to the Internet.
Go here to the Adobe test site: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about
You may want to print these instructions out to make it easier for you to follow. If you have any questions before you start, please ask.
After you are finished, post back your test results and I will give you some info to check your Flash files.
    Thanks,

  • Some websites will not open telling me to download Adobe Flash Player first. Need something to stop this. noflashhtml

When I go to this website using FF4 this is what I get and cannot get past this. How do I disable this?
"To enjoy this site you'll need to update your Flash Player. It's easy, painless and will take
    just a moment...
    1. Download and install the latest version of Adobe's Flash Player
    2. Unfortunately you'll then need to close your web browser
    3. Go back to this site after you restart your web browser
    4. That's it-have fun!"

There are two different versions of Flash for Windows, the '''''ActiveX''''' version for IE and the '''Plugin''' version used by Firefox and most other browsers.
1.Download the Flash Plugin version setup file from here: <br />
    [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_32bit.exe Adobe Flash - 32-bit Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

GP (GetPlus) is the Adobe download manager.  Download the Flash Player installer directly from http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe (for Firefox) and you will not need any DLM.
