Flashing desktop from black to wall paper and disappearing dock

I have an iMac and recently it has started flashing every second between wallpaper and blank screen, the dock also disappears, this makes it very difficult to use, the only way to start an application id via the finder --> Go --> applications. Even though the application will run (very slowly) the desktop continue to flash away behind it. Any idea's

Which model iMac do you have? If under warranty and/or you have AC, call them. Let them deal w/the problem.
Out of warranty:
Set up a test account. Does the problem still show up there?

Thank you for confirming the drivers are up to date. I apologize for the confusion in terminology. We refer to the installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer as the online installer because it is simply an installer shim, less than 2MB that then downloads and installs Flash Player silently. This requires users to be 'online' for the installation process to work. What we refer to as the offline installers are the full installers (roughly 15 - 18 MB) that you download and then install Flash Player, which does not require an internet connection as nothing is downloaded silently in the background during installation.
As I mentioned before, we have received these reports of the online installer displaying without text, however, we have not been able to reproduce, and therefore, the reason I asked you to try the offline installer, since we have not received these reports with the offline installer.

HT1420 I updated my desktop from XP to Win 7 and now I cannot enter my iTune site and reeive a notice saying I need to remove other computers becuse I have 5 linked to iTunes. I do not have 5 only two so---?

I upgraded by home computer from XP Pro to Win 7..I receive a message when trying to my iTune site that I have 5 computers connected to iTunes in fact I have two(2)....I can guess that this happened when I changed my operating system What can I do to fix this issue ?

you are on the appleTV generation 2 forum.. is this an appleTV generation 1 problem?
if it is a gen 1 question.. that is how the it is supposed to work.. appleTV 1s cannot be backed up so after a sync is performed items will get synced back to the linked computer (where it can be backed up) where it can be synced back to the appleTV (will be in two locations) or can be streamed to the appleTV.. if that didn't happen you could possibly lose all the content sitting on your appleTV gen 1 if you had a hard drive failure or had to restore you appleTV.
appleTV gen 1 is not intended as a archive for media, only as a temporary location to mirror some portion of the content sitting on the iTunes folder sitting on the linked iTunes library.. it functions exactly like an synced iPod.. not like an external hard drive
this is the kind of confusion relating to how appleTV functioned is why i believe apple went to a much simpler streaming only model in appleTV generation 2

Have you tried to go in through the photos app? Go to your photo and 'send' it to be wall paper and see if it scaled better.
SInce iOS7 has the parallax motion (when you tilt the screen you can see your back ground looking like it's off the edge, turning that off in the settings can help with your wallpaper scaling) it demands that all wallpapers be bigger than the screen. So the iPad automatically zooms in to fill the screen on at least two sides, which leaves most people with limited options to move and scale.
The higher resolution your photo is the better your experience will be.
If that still doesn't work there are scaling apps in the App Store. I don't use one so I don't have any recommendations but I have seen people talking about them.

I am curious to know how did Flash Player get uninstalled from Chrome? If you can please share steps to reproduce how your Flash Plugin got Removed?
Also, Can you open chrome application Goto Chrome://plugins and See if Adobe Flash Player Plugin is Disabled? If yes, kindly enable Flash Player Plugin by clicking the [blue colored]enable link and restart the browser to see if the changes have reflected.
Because Flash Player cannot be uninstalled from Chrome using any uninstaller, as it is embedded part of the app installer/update and can only be removed if you remove the plugin reference from the location on disk. Possibility is that your plugin got disabled and did not get enabled after that.
Please see if it helps. If the above does not work then the only resolve is to update Chrome app. Please let us know if your query got resolved or not.

yes, it's easy - change a machine to the desktop you want (the image must be on all the machines, with the same name, of course), find ~/library/preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist Copy that to your server (or just put it on a flash drive) In workgroup manager select preferences - details - "add". Navigate to that plist. (Optional - hit "edit" and cut and past from "often" to "always", then the user cannot change the desktop at all, if you leave it in "often" it will reset next log-on.)

I 've a DOMAIN active directory server 2008. and also added some XP & Some window 7 Clients in this domain. I 've configure a policy thar all domain's clients desktop wallpaper would same.
this policy is working fine on windows 7but on XP this policy is not working. I 've also try to set desktop wall paper from LOCAL GROUP POLICY of this client machine. but this is also not working.
I am showing this wallper on my desktop.
So kindly help me out that how apply desktop wallpaper policy on this XP system...

Earlier version of the OS only support .bmp(bitmap) format to configure wallpaper where as enabling Active Desktop allows you to use range of formats including animation as well as web pages. Since, you are using JPEG, enable configure the option Enable

you are probably seeing the extended display.. to see ur main display go to pefrences then display steeings and turn mirroring on.

First let me apologize for posting a reply that was only suitable for advanced users. Photoshop is broad and powerful therefore has a huge learning curve. In fact I would state no one knows and uses all of Photoshop. When we first get Photoshop it intimidate us and we're very uncomfortable using it. Many thing are not intuitive there in much learning involved. After some time we begin to know something and we are able to do some thing. Learning become rapid and we start playing in Photoshop. It is very important to play with Photoshop. Playing with Photoshop and asking for help with in forums like this IMO is the best way to learn.
Photoshop Power lies in layers, selection and automation. However it takes knowledge to use photoshop well so most powerful tool you have ins Photoshop is the gray matter between your ears. Most at one time or another want to watermark or put a logo on their image. So its best to automate this process. All run into a problem in the process. "Size" We find our assets vary in size and aspect ratios. Landscape, Portraits, Panoramas and others. This complicates automation. Vector graphics works best when size vary greatly. If you can not work out how to create a vector solution like a custom shape. Create your Logo and watermark large thing scale down better the up. Text scale well for text uses vectors graphics however if you rasterize text it will not scale well.
I do not type or do English well so let me do some screen captures. I can not stress enough how important Black, White, Grays and Blending is when it come to image processing. Become friends with Multiply, Screen, Overlay and Luminosity blending.....
However when there is a white or black background though you can blend them you can not add a style like a drop shadow, emboss or make it invisible setting fill to 0 so only the style is visible. When there is contrast between the logo and background it is easy to separate the two. To select the background and delet it to have the logo with a transparent background. Many tools can be used to create the selection hee I use my action kill white.
Vector Shape would work better for scaling However it would be best to create the logo from scratch in a vector program like illustrator but I never had the resources to justify the Creative suite. I only had Photoshop. Recently Adobe gave me and other a year subscription to the creative suite for our participation here. I still have not installed anything but Photoshop, A while back I found a program that can create vector patf for black and white art work. It will not be as good as using something like illustrator. How do I keep my macbook pro from automatically rearranging my folders and PDF files on my desktop? It seems to happen a lot after I've hooked my laptop to my Thunderbolt in my office and then I unhook my laptop to go present at a clients of taking my laptop home to work. Every once in a while if even places all of my folders and PDF files in the far upper left corner of my screen. Needless to say, having to constanly rearrange my desktop is extremly annoying and would love to know what the fix is for this problem. Thank you in advance for any help offered!

Thanks for the tip "baltwo", unfortunately my desktop settings were already set to NONE. I've had one of my IT guys here this moring helping me look through all of this and we're at a wall trying to figure out why it's doing this. This morning when I docked to the Thunderbolt all my folders and PDF files are in the upper lefthand corner stacked on top of each other almost out of view. If I go to settings, displays, and swith to mirroring, all the folders and files go right back to where they're set up on my MacBook desktop, but I lose the ability to utilize the entire screen of the Thunderbolt. Very frustrating to say the least and after searching through and reviewing several forums, Apple is very much aware of this issue and seems to be keeping silent on the issue. Hoepfully they'll launch a fix soon!

You need to fresh install 10.6, programs fresh form original sources and return only vetted files (no TM migrations) from a regular storage drive
But this when erasing the drive use the Security Option: Zero All Data before installing 10.6
What has happened your data got corrupted and it's corrupted on the TM drive too.
So the Zero will map off bad sectors on your drive, the 10.6 install will be fresh, the programs will be fresh and only files will be returned, you'll find out in short order which ones they are.

Once you are back up, then consider making a option key bootable clone.
