FLASHING Flash in HTML / Broswer

Hi Folks - This one has me stumped. I have two completely
different Flash animation (Interactive) published for our website.
Whenever I publish these with Active Content Update - HTTP and
unusual anomoly happens. In the IE Browswer the swf opens up
perfectly and plays perfectly (no annoying border security).
However, if you hit a link that takes you to another page, when you
come BACK to the orginal home page the Flash File "FLASHES" about 6
or 7 times before running smoothly again. Almost like it is loading
image file or swf files before starting. When I publish the same
files with the standard publishing technique (old fashion way)
everything works perfectly and coming back to the home page after
leaving is not an issue.
Side note: After publishing these problematic files I use the
"Commands / Apply Active Content Update" which generates the
AC_RunActiveContent.js. All the files are then copied over to
the server for testing.

you can use javascript to detect installed flash player
version, and add a condition to control which content to be
displayed.
you can try the Flash Player Version Detection functions like
ControlVersion() & GetSwfVer() from Adobe Flash published

  • How to show a MPEG4/H.264 video in Flash in an HTML page?

Maybe my title isn't clear. I am hoping someone can shed some
light on the h264 use in flash.
Instead of displaying a progressive download .FLV video , I
am trying to have an MPEG4 /h.264 approx. - a 30meg video display
in flash in an .html page. Quicktime is easy to do, but Flash is my
    goal.
I read several articles on h264 and flash 9, including this
    adobe
H264 article but was hoping there might be an easier and maybe
quicker solution. I did try renaming the .mp4 extension to .flv in
dreamweaver but it did not display the video. (...unless it was
downloading the video completely before displaying...not sure)
There is a ton of sites, blogs and articles on h.264 and how
flash 9 will display it...but when it comes to how one might
actually have h.264 in flash on their own site...I am finding it
    difficult to figure out.
Forgive my lack of action script and Flash knowledge...any
    direction is appreciated.
    Erick

...well I did follow that article on playing an h264/mpeg4
video in flash. It works well, but how would you add playback
    controls?
FLVPlayback component only allows you to source an FLV video
    not h264/mpeg4.
This is probably a simple as3 answer...but I am not
knowledgeable on as3 to know what code to add.
Any suggests or direction that I should look would be great.
In the meantime I am researching actionscript 3 to find and anwer.

  • Tips for Changing Flash Website to HTML / Dreamweaver

I am going to be taking over the management of a website that was designed entirely in Flash. There really is no need for the entire website to be entirely in Flash - it is confusing to navigate and most of the content would be so much easier to update and maintain if it were saved in html. I want to keep two flash effects - one is the splash page and the other is gallery where a grid of photos flips up like cards and you can click the individual photos for a link to a specifications page.
So, my question.  Is there an easy way to transition the site from flash only into html / dreamweaver? I think I already know the answer to this - "NO" - I'm going to have to redesign the site in dreamweaver and just insert the two flash elements I want to keep, but if anybody has any tips or tricks that would be FANTASTIC!  Thanks.

The problem with FLASH sites is that they speak a different language - Action Script instead of HTML.  While some Flashy effects can be emulated with DHTML (JavaScript, JQuery etc...) it's not always possible to achieve the exact same feel without FLASH.  Everything depends on how Flash-centric the original site is and how much your client/boss is willing to toss out in favor of a more web accessible, search engine / user friendly / standards compliant website.
Incidentally, SPLASH pages are a complete waste of prime URL real estate.  You don't want a Flash or image only SPLASH intro page on your ALL IMPORTANT domain name default page.  If anything, you need to rebuild home page in HTML with plenty of keyword rich content for search engines and people to grab onto.
For more meaningful suggestions, please post a URL to the live site?  It will be interesting to see how it ranks on Google and other SEs.

  • Calling a function in flash on an HTML page

    Hi,
I need help regarding how to call a flash function from an HTML page. The idea is to have a link on my page (HTML link) that once clicked displays a movieclip in flash. I know i have to use the asfunction in HTML. So far I have just created my swf file with a function called showInfo. I've embedded the flash into an HTML page. I have then added a link on the HTML page as follows:
    <a href="asfunction:showInfo">Link name</a>
but when I click it says:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (asfunction) isn't associated with any program."
is there a piece of code I need to write in flash for this to work?
    Thanks
    Eugene

have your html link call a javascript function and use the externalinterface class in flash to communicate between javascript and actionscript.

  • Hiding flash controls in HTML

I have created a video on After Effects and exported it as a
AVI. I then opened Flash Encoder and created a FLV file out of
that. I then added the FLV file into Dream Weaver on my webpage.
When the page loads the flash file plays, but shows the controls.
How do I get that to not show the controls and just play? You can
look at my test site to see what I mean.
    http://www.getcapturednow.com/test.htm
    Thanks

Your embedding code looks to be on the short side of completeness, so you might consider letting Flash generate an html page and copy the code from that.  If that doesn't fix anything, then you might also try using full url's in the getURL calls (http://www.etc...)

  • Convert all-Flash site into html?

I have an all-flash site (www.CBRTA.org). For the benefit of
certain clients who won't install the Flash plugin, I have to
create a mirror html site. Does anyone know how I go about
converting an all-Flash site into html? And quickly? I have access

Sorry... unless you've separated the content out already,
    like into a
database, you're going to need to cut/paste etc... there's no
    easy way if
the site is all inside of Flash.

No such thing. Flash is not html based and therefore cannot
    be converted.

  • Removing the Flash Border in HTML

    Hello there,
Does anyone know if it's at all possible to remove the,
clear, dotted border around any Flash in a HTML document? I've seen
several websites which don't have the border around. I've created a
Flash menu for my website and having the border makes this
difficult, one has to click on the menu then one has to click on
the button to lead them to where they want to go.
    Regards,
    Kristopher (UK).

    Hi,
Yes you can by including your the SWF embed code in a
separate JS file and call it form your HTML page. Adobe released an
extention to solve this problem on the following link:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=7c29e252
And if you search on google you can find more methods to
    solve your problem (I guess
    http://www.cartoonsmart.com/
    got another methods too)
    Hope this helps

  • How to read a local file using as3 in a flash object in HTML? [urgent]

My web site contains a flash object.
I want to use as3 to read some local .txt file
by getting the user directory of the file.
i know AIR can support this by sth like:
    File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath
but when i open a AIR file for this, it seems
the action cant be run when i embed it in html.
And i tried to use the above function in a normal
flash file in the action script.
But it cant recognize the File. class..
How can it be done ?
    It's reli urgent,
    please help...
    Thanks !

a web based flash app can't detect user directories.  you can use the filereference class'es browse method to let the user locate a file in any directory the user wants.  flash can then retrieve the file's name and type.  but, as mentioned before,  flash can't determine the file's directory.

  • Flash's published HTML (+js) won't work in Safari?

I have created a Flash file that consists of nothing but an FLVPlayback control that loads a .flv file. I then use the default publish settings to publish the .swf. The resulting HTML file opens, displays properly, and plays the movie in IE7, FF3.0, and Chrome 2.0. However, when I open it in Safari 3.0.4, I see nothing; just a blank page. Safari has FP10 installed and has no problems displaying Flash content on any other web sites, e.g. iTunes, Apple. Adobe, or YouTube). I don't have IE8 to test on (I installed it and it hosed my whole system, so it's been eradicated).
I am loading the file locally from the file system; I want to make sure it works before I publish it. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I don't see how it could. The AC_RunActiveContent.js script is present and getting loaded (I wish I were right now ).
Has anyone else experienced this or know what the problem might be? I am including the entirety of the HTML content it generated here for reference (I have changed the tag brackets to braces just so it will post here).

Yes, that would be helpful, I know. However, the file isn't being hosted anywhere. It will be e-mailed, I guess, as an e-vite. I just created the Flash file and published swf & html plus a jpeg as a still. Then I sent that to the marketing person...who knows less about this than I do. But for some reason, when she opens the file up in her IE browser, she is getting an older revision of the e-vite that isn't playing correctly. I suspected that she possibly only referenced the new html file and it sourced the old swf file. So when she played it in the browser, she saw the old swf file play. I've asked her to make sure she deletes any old copies and just uses the new html and swf files. Does that sound like a possible solution? I haven't heard back from her yet to see if that solved the issue.

  • Linking between Flash, pdf and html

How to link from Flash to certain page in pdf document
    displaying in web browser?
    this is not working:
    on (release) {
    getURL("interfaces.pdf#example", "_self");
    neither: #nameddest=example, #page=2
This works though from html, but only first time. If you surf

    Any idea very appreciated!

    Hi Raymond,
    To respond to your question:
Would I have to create two regions with each region the same chart one in Flash and one in HTML and Hide/Show the region depending on the platform I am running eg iPAD or Desktop?
No, this isn't necessary at all. One chart region with a "Chart Rendering" setting of "Flash Chart" on the Chart Attributes page will do the trick. With APEX 4.2, we introduced HTML5 chart support using AnyChart, our existing supplier of Flash charts in APEX. One of the great features of their new HTML5 charting support is how they handle the rendering of a chart. If you take a look at AnyChart's documentation on the rendering options available as part of their HTML5 support, http://www.anychart.com/products/anychart/docs/users-guide/migration-guide.html#from-5.1.x-to-6.x-rendering-types, there are 4 possible rendering options available. We declaratively support two of those options in APEX:
AnyChart Rendering Option       Associated APEX "Chart Rendering" setting
    FLASH_PREFERRED                 Flash Chart
SVG_ONLY                        HTML5 ChartSo if you choose to generate a "Flash Chart" in APEX 4.2, AnyChart will handle the rendering of that chart for you, depending upon whether Flash is found on the device or not. Where Flash is detected, a Flash chart is rendered, however if Flash isn't detected (e.g. on devices such as an iPad), then a HTML5 chart will be rendered. So there's nothing additional for you to do - no need for two regions on your page with two different charts. If you choose to generate a "HTML5 Chart", then a HTML5 chart will always be rendered - this is no fallback to Flash with this option.
I hope this helps to clarify things for you.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • White box behind flash when in html

Hi. I've created a flash with a black background and inserted
in my html also with a black background. The problem is that when I
click through the pages, for a half second or so, the area behind
the flash is white (and stands out like a sore thumb). Any thoughts
to why this might be happening and what to do to fix it? Thanks for
    your help.

    TalDesign,
    > Thanks for the suggestion David, but that still didn't
    work. See
    >
    http://tinabranan.com/test/home.html
    I see a bgcolor attribute inside a <table> tag, but I
    don't see that
attribute inside the <object> and <embed> tags.
    It needs to be your
    JavaScript, too.
    e.g.
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    'width','900',
    'height','530',
    'src','home',
    'quality','high',
    'movie','home'
    'bgcolor','#000000' <== here
    ); //end AC code
Note, I omitted two very long parameters from that snippit.
    The
important part is to note that the params come in pairs, and
    are mirrored in
    the <object> and <embed> tags:
<object [lots of attributes here] >
    <param name="movie" value="home.swf" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
    <embed src="home.swf" [params ...] bgcolor="#000000" />
