Flashing Inspector and media browser

While working a very complex project. Keynote 08's inspector and the media browser start to flash when I start to make any setting changes. This only happens on my Powerbook G4 (2gb ram, 120gb HD, 133). I don't have this issue on my G5. Anyone have any suggestion?

thank you for the suggestion - I have now run Disk Utility - and, although it picked up a surprising number of permissions to repair relating to Quicktime - Iweb is still faulty. I also tried today reinstalling it from my master disk - but this has not made any difference. I still cannot make the Iweb inspector or media viewer show themseves.
I am at a complete loss - I was sure reinstalling would work.
Anyone with more ideas? A lot of web pages are up on a new site - but this has stopped me dead.
I ran another program today that uses apparently the same inspector and media viewer - Rapid Weaver - and the panels appeared and worked normally - but I cannot import iweb files into this program to sort them out.

  • Missing inspector and media browser please help

Hi, I have been happily editing in iweb - building a new website... but today suddenly I have found it impossible to make the Inspector to appear and the media browser is also absent - no matter how many times I click the appropriate buttons.. on the bottom of the screen - or from the top menu - I have been trying to insert hyperlinks - and the default hyperlink is made - but I cannot see the panel to alter it...
I have tried rebooting the program several times - and the computer too... but no use. Still no inspector or media browser anywhere in sight - not visible even in Expose
    - although the adjust, colours and fonts menus do appear
thank you for your help, Janine Roberts

  • IMovie '11, what steps am I missing, when I go to SHARE, IDVD is grey and not activated, only ITUNES and MEDIA BROWSER? I want to burn a DVD.

iMovie '11, what steps am I missing, when I go to SHARE, IDVD is grey and not activated, only ITUNES and MEDIA BROWSER? I want to burn a DVD.

Share your movie to the Media Browser. Then, in iDVD, drag your movie in from the Media Browser at the bottom right.
THe Share to iDVD option is only activated if your source material is DV or AVCHD.

  • Email links out of Practice Fusion are not active (as they are in IE), which they say is a problem with "something lost in the communication between the Flash engine and the browser". Does anyone have experience with this?

This is a medical records system, cloud based. I use Firefox to get into the system, but any browser would work. Other than this problem, Firefox works fine (better than IE, in my opinion).
Patient demographics include their email, which is hyperlinked and should go right to Outlook (my default email program). This works in IE, but nothing happens on the click when using Firefox as the browser.
I queried Practice Fusion, which replied: In regards to your previous question about the email hyperlink in the patient information, it looks this is not something that can be fixed on our end right now. It is the web browsers' responsibility to handle these types of links, and there seems to be something lost in the communication between the Flash engine and the browser. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

  • Suddenly Missing Images and Media Browser iPhoto issues in 1.1.2

Using iWeb 1.1.2. All of the sudden when I open my website in iWeb, many of the images are now displaying as envelopes with question marks. When I click on them in the inspector it shows them linked to the correct image file in iPhoto. At the same time, now when I try to drag photos from my iPhoto library onto the page I get a hyperlink instead of the actual photo. This just started happening (possibly since updating to 1.1.2, since I haven't used iWeb in awhile).
    Thanks,
    Mike

Correction - when I try to drag photos from *the Media Browser* onto the page I get a hyperlink instead of the actual photo. And this is not a Photo layout...it's just a normal page based on a template.

  • No effects in inspector or media browser

Bought a new 8 cores and installed FCS, Livetype (2.1.3) and Motion. There is nothing in my effects tab in the media browser. I am assuming the reason there is nothing in the effects tab of the inspector window is that I have no effects in place when I type in a title.
I did a search and saw the posts on Livetype freezing up with a title with effects but in my case that can't happen as I have no effects.
Am I missing something obvious or ??
thanks gang . . . love the boards

    Nick
No livetype in the applications support folder. Was only missing effects. Didn't update to OSX 10.5.7. Can play a grandfathered title with effects but can change that effect only. Did a repair permissions, zapped the pram . . . but still nothing. So had a good friend more knowledgeable than me send me a zip file of the effects and I am back in business.
    thanks Nick for you help.

  • New iPhoto Videos stopped appearing in iMovie (and media Browser too)

I only recently discovered the usefulness of viewing iPhoto videos in iMovie, simplifying the process to editing my videos.
However recently my videos have stopped appearing. I am using Leopard 10.5.6 and the videos are captured using a Powershot SD750 camera into an AVI format. up until the 12/12 the videos appeared fine, and I am sure that I haven't changed anything. The iPhoto library is stored on a NAS drive. Which does seem to lose connection on a regular basis, causing me to need to choose the library in iPhoto again.
When I launch iMovie it used to ask about loading the Iphoto videos though I have not seen this dialogue recently.
I also notive that in the media browser iDVD or web upload these particular videos are not shown.
I would be grateful for any help...
    Thanks,
    Richard

Suddenly today, this is working fine, not sure why, as I had rebooted the machine several times to try and resolve...
If anyine has any ideas as to why, I would appreciate it. When I opened iMovie today I saw the dialogue that had been missing:

And when it was complete the missing videos were shown.

  • Aperture and media browser

I just installed iLife and started to play with the apps, one thing I noticed was the I couldn't see the pictures that I have stored in Aperture. I can see albums, projects and smart albums but when I click on an album no pictures are displayed.
The pictures are in RAW so I tried rebuilding the previews but I still can't see any pictures. Any suggestions?

I'm new to Aperture. I have Aperture referencing my photos on an external hard drive. It seems that if I make any adjustments then these are not shown in the Media Browser in iWeb. I have already closed and reopened iWeb and still these files are not visible. If I remove the adjustments in Aperture and then try opening iWeb again these files are still not visible.
    What's going on?

  • Flash player and kaspersky browser add-ons

    Hallo,
I use Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) on windows 7 (64 bit) with Adobe flash player (version 11,5,502,135 installed) and also the following kaspersky browser add-ons from software "kaspersky internet security 2013":
    Name Content Blocker Plugin
    Name Virtual Keyboard Plugin
    Name Safe Money Plugin
    Name URL Advisor Plugin
    Name Links untersuchen
Some time - once per month - I like to go to cinema and therefor I use cineplex online ticket booking system, which is based on adobe flash player. But ever I want to reserve online a cinema ticket, I got an error message in browser from some add-on, probable from flash player add-on "Shockwave Flash Object" by Adobe Systems Incorporated, and cannot use the web page to reserve a ticket in online ticket system of CINEPLEX: https://booking.cineplex.de/TicketBoxXNGFrontend/booking_ng.jsp?perf_i d=1E871000023VYZJHTG&site_id=31 The web page from booking.cineplex is since many years the same, but flash player is often updated and kaspersky lab add-ons are very young.
Could anybody confirm problems between flash player add-on and the kaspersky lab add-ons, because if I deactivate all kaspersky add-ons, there are no problems to use the webpage from CINEPLEX and their online ticket system based on flash player. Support of Kaspersky Lab denies any problems with their software regarding this issue, but I don't believe, that they had tested it with the booking.cineplex site.
    Regards
    hfreiwald

    Hi Chris,
thank your for the hint. But this site is already on whitelist in all moduls of kaspersky. I assume the error comes not from possible blocking content of the web site, but from blocking something functions from flash player "Shockwave Flash Object" add-on, but I could not exactly determine this. Because this problem is difficulty to delimit, I use IE 9 only without Kaspersky add-ons, otherwise I get angry each time, if the access to cinema portal site does not work.
Perhaps someone else has an idea.

  • Media Browser does not load iTunes Library

I was on GarageBand today and was trying to drag a song from my iTunes (via Media Browser) and nothing showed under my iTunes (playlists, songs, etc.) and I have over 4000 items on iTunes.
I also was trying to upload an attachment on GMail and media browser did not show my iTunes library there either. My screensaver is my album artwork and now it says that I do not have any album artwork. WHAT'S GOING ON?!
Thought all these problems were connected to each other so I thought I would put it all on one thread.

  • Inspector and Library Windows Disappearing?

Hey everyone- hopefully someone can help me.
I have started working on a project that I am using lower thirds that I created in Motion. I haven't opened Motion in about a month or two but now a dead line is approaching and i need to get them done. I opened motion and I noticed that my library, inspector and file browser windows are not there. I clicked on the icon in the top right of my screen that should bring them up but nothing happens. I have searched every short cut to find how to bring them up but nothing. The time line button works fine- however why aren't the other windows coming up when i call for them? Is it possible that I have locked my window layout and if so is there a way to unlock it? Or is it an internal problem where i am going to have to reload Motion?
Hopefully this makes sense to someone,
    ~KB

    Welcome to the discussions...
    Quoting Mark Spencer:
If you find that your Utility Pane (the window that contains the File Browser, Library, and Inspector) is gone and you can’t get it back, trashing your preferences file is sure to bring it back.
    To do so:
    1) Quit Motion.
    2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences
    3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it
Restart Motion, and you should be back in business.

  • How to prepare a movie for sharing in Media Browser?

I'm having difficulty making a DVD. After creating the movie, I have tried sharing it to iDVD and Media Browser, but both times after rendering it said it wasn't able to publish. The movie shows up in my Media Browser of the DVD but it can't be dragged to the project window. I'm trying to share it by selecting Large.
My movie is only 8 minutes. I tried sharing a video clip, selecting Large, and it worked so the system works, it's just my movie won't work.
How do I get my movie to share so I can use it in iDVD?

Pardon me, but I don't understand. In your first post you said you tried Large and it didn't work. Then you said the fixed the problem by using Large.

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.
If you agree with this feature request, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/

    Nice ideas Jeff.

  • Some Aperture photos and projects missing from iLife Media Browser

Good evening - having a little bit of trouble getting Aperture to work smoothly with my iLife media browser (i.e., inserting photos into Mail, Pages, Keynote, etc).
I currently have 5699 photos and 131 projects in Aperture. But the iLife Media Browser only shows me 5131 photos and 130 projects; when clicking on individual projects in the browser, anywhere from 3 to 70 photos per project are missing. Tried repairing permissions, repairing the database, and rebuilding the database - this improved the issue, but didn't completely resolve it as 5679 photos now show in the Media Browser, and 20 remain missing. Also tried deleting, and generating previews for all my photos in the library. No change.
My library is mostly referenced, with a few photos managed.
Obviously in the grand scheme of things 20 photos missing in the Media Browser not that big a deal. But wanting to get to the root cause though because without solving this issue, I'm concerned about a larger underlying problem that may only get worse as my library grows.
Has anyone had, or resolved a problem similar to this? And can anyone offer any additional suggestions? Are there any specific files that feed the iLife Media Browser that I can delete and rebuild that may solve this issue?
    thanks,
    Mark

I think I've ironed this out. Several intertwined issues. I took a moment to type out my notes; hopefully it helps you guys solve this quickly if you get a call from someone else on this down the line.
[1] original problem of several hundred items missing in Media Browser: probably an issue of previews not being built. Mostly fixed when I regenerated previews for my library, but repairing permissions and repairing the database may have helped too.
[2] Residual problem of 20 items still missing (5698 items displayed in Aperture when selecting Inspector > Library > Photos; 5677 items displayed in Mail Photo Browser). My issue wasn't as much with 20 missing items in a browser as it was with trying to understand the root cause and whether I had an underlying Aperture, Aperture Library, or OS problem that would bite me later. Turns out several things were causing this problem:
[2a] In Aperture, when you select Inspector > Library > Photos , all your content is displayed: photos, videos, and any audio clips you may have imported (e.g., a recorded audio clip on your camera narrating shoot, location, client, exposure value etc). So even though you've selected "Photos", your "xxx items displayed" count on the bottom of the screen reflects all your imported content. This is not the case in the Media Browser - of which there are two variants in Mac OS:
[2a.1] Mail has a Photo Browser, which behaves much like a "Media Browser Lite: the title bar says "Photo Browser", it only accesses your Aperture and iPhoto Libraries, and only shows photos and video.
[2a.2] iWork applications have a more comprehensive Media Browser, where you can select between Audio, Photos, and Movies. If you select Audio the iWork Media Browser will show any audio files present in your Aperture or iTunes library. If you select Movies, the iWork Media Browser will show any movie clips present in your Aperture or iMovie libraries. Photos behaves the same way as "Photo Browser" in Mail, showing any photos present in your Aperture (or iPhoto if installed) libraries.
Turns out I had three audio clips in my Aperture library. When selecting "Photos" in either the Mail or iWork browsers, the total item count will only show photos and videos - no audio clips. So now 17 missing items remain.
[2b] Stacks - one project contained nine photos grouped into a stack. Only the key photo of a stack is previewed/shown in Media Browser. So a stack of nine photos will only show as one in the browser - unstacking the photo will allow them all to appear. So now nine missing items.
[2c] Seven photographs somehow had broken links to their referenced masters, and needed to be reconnected. Down to two missing items.
[2d] One photo simply wouldn't cooperate - no matter how many times I regenerated the preview, or deleted the preview and then regenerated it, nothing worked. I deleted it from the library and reimported it. One missing item remains.
[2e] Final missing item was a photograph I rejected. Makes sense; as media browser does not display rejects.
Problem solved!! Hopefully this might be of help to somebody in the future.
    cheers,
    Mark
