Flashing lights on Officejet J6450 All-in-one

In the middle of printing, both the wireless indicator light (blue) and the card slot indicator light (green) began flashing simultaneously, and at a rapid pace.  The power indicator light is not on, and the printer will not do anything.  I've unplugged the power, but I continue to have the same issue when the power is turned restored.  I have not found any information on what that error means or how to fix it.  Can someone help?

This happened to me too. I wanted to poer cycle the printer so I powered off the printer using the on/off button, and I thought it was taking too long so I yanked the power cord out of the back.  When I plugged in the cord and tried to turn it on, the light in the back (RJ45/networking) turns on for only 5-10sec and then I hear the modem 'hang-up'.  No power is visible on the front during the whole time.
I looked at the forums and saw reset button sequences '#' and '3', '#', and 6, etc.
I tried these, but it did not work.  So I decided to press the front 'OK' button and plug in the power and it worked!!
I held the 'ok' button in for about 25 sec and it power up just like normal.
I hope that helps. This post would have saved me some time.

Unforunately your printer model is not supported the HP ePrint Home & Biz app.

  • Can't get HP Officejet J6450 All-in-One to scan or print

    Hello!
I have an HP Officejet J6450 All-in-One which I would like to use with my Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.4. I would prefer a wireless setup. It printed wirelessly up until I tried installing the HP Full Feature Software & Drivers from their website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-74787-1 &lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=3635399&sw_lang=)and subsequently deleted them once I realized it did not work. I also did not want to install a bulky and unnecessary set of programs that I do not need.
I went to the System Preferences/Print & Fax and deleted the HP printers that had been added, then I went to Applications/HewlettPackard and clicked on HP uninstall, and uninstalled the program. Since I have experience with Windows (lol), I decided to take the safe route and make sure my HD & permissions had not been corrupted. I put in my OS X install disk that came with my Macbook Pro, rebooted to the disk, went to Disk Utility and Repaired the Permissions (it only had one that it could not fix), repaired the HD (it found a few issues), and then went one more round of Repair Permissions and then HD just to be sure. I rebooted to the HD and ejected the boot disk. I connected the printer via the USB cable.
Then I found this: (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=mp-7 4787-1&os=219&product=3635399&sw_lang=&docname=c01910186) It says on there that Snow Leopard should have everything I need to scan and print with this printer. However, upon trying the three methods, none worked. Here are the results:
Method One: I get to step 2, select Import from Scanner, and nothing happens. The list that is supposed to be displayed in step 3 never comes.
Method Two: I open the Image Capture app in step 1, but when it comes up, it says "No camera or scanner connected."
Method Three: I get the Print & Fax printer browser opened as in step 3, but cannot move on to step 4 because there is no scan tab.
What can I do to get this to work? I tried contacting HP online chat, but they told me they do not offer support to Mac users on there. I sent them an email through their contact page but you know how that will probably go...
I'm an intermediate computer user, although I'm relatively new to Mac, so be easy on me! I'm scared to break this laptop I've fallen in love with. Many thanks to you all in advance, and my apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere - I was unable to find anything with this particular HP model and situation. I noticed HP does not seem very Mac-friendly!

Is this scanning from the PC and/or from the printer? Did it ever scan previously? Is this connected by USB/wired/wireless?
As far as the software, it would be a good idea to update your software, and I would recommend downloading the latest software at this location:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1153494&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
Just pick the right operating system, and get the download and run it. That may fix the scanning issue you are having.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and HP Officejet J6450 All in One

I need to print an image (house blueprint), enlarged over 4 pages. I see no option anywhere to do this. HP technical support sent me through a download process for portions of HP Photo Studio software, which successfully installed. I could then use that to select a "Poster" option. Sent it to the printer (one page to print enlarged to 4), and lost all communication with my printer. I no longer could print anything at all. So I deleted the HP photo studio software, STILL couldn't use my printer, deleted ALL my printer drivers, unplugged my printer, plugged it back in, and started all over re-installing the fax, wireless and hard-wired printer drivers. Now I can at least print single pages normally again. Apparently the download was for Leopard 10.5 but I have no idea if that was the problem.
Does anyone know how to make a HP Officejet J6450 print an enlarged image over multiple pages using Snow Leopard?
    Thankyou!

  • I have a HP officejet J6450 All in one.

I had a paper jam and removed the paper.  I tried to turn the printer off before I removed the jam but the printer won't turn off.  I reads "Shutting Down" but it just continues to say that and the power button blinks on & off.  I tried to print somthing to see it that would help, it wouldn't print, probably because it thinks it is "shutting down" like it says.  I don't know what to do next. I even shut the computer down to see if that would do somthing with the printer but it didn't help.  Printer still blinking and says "Shuttind Down."  HELP

    Hello musicmom,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Officejet J6450. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolves this issue:
Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. This step is mandatory as HP recommends this step, and it could potentially fix your problem.
Next, try Resetting the Printer. Instead, leave the power cord out of the printer for more than 60 seconds.
Let me know how your progress goes.

Help! I've spent hours researching this and can't find a solution...
I upgraded 3 Intel Macs in the house to Snow Leopard last weekend. All went differently...but all were successful. I found that the connection to my HP Officejet 7410 (connected wirelessly to 802.11g Airport Express (AEX) network) was "broken". Deleted then "re-intalled". Documents could now be printed. I then found out scan function was "broken". Figured out how to scan with new Snow Leopard "baked-in" driver and Scan tab...different, but it worked.
Then, tonight, on the eve of my birthday, I was given the green light to purchase an Airport Extreme 802.11n (dual-band) base station (AEBS). I set it up and got 2.5X speed on the two 802.11n laptops in the household. Glorious! Then I went to work to ensure print and scan functions were still operational. Tried to re-connect HP OJ 7410 to wireless network...when it found the network it asked for the "WEP" key (on previous AEX network I was secured utilizing WPA2/Personal)...I entered the WPA2/Personal password (same as previous network) and got the error message "Key must be 5 or 13 characters OR 10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex)". So I turned off the wireless radio and instead plugged the 7410 into the AEBS via USB. Deleted the previous queue and re-installed. Found the printer no problem but now without the Scan tab or function anywhere...despite following all the recommendations found both on the HP site and here in the Apple Forums. I print fine. Can't for the life of me figure out what the problem with the now lost again Scan function is.
Only strangeness I can think of is the following: When setting up the network(s), I had the option of naming the 5 ghz band something different. I set mine up with the same name of the 2.4 ghz network with 5ghz in parenthesis (i.e. BobbyG and BobbyG (5 Ghz)).
Sorry for the long post but we need the scan function in the house for my wife's teaching purposes. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Very Respectfully,
    Bobby G.

  • Cannot scan, fax, or copy from HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One E709a

I can print from my HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One E709a, but I cannot scan, copy, or fax.  All drivers and updates are current; no recent updates were made prior to the problems occurring. I use Windows 7 64-bit.  When the printer is turned on, it always shows Original Loaded, but no documents are in the feeder or on the glass (I have already cleaned the glass and have ensured that the cover sits tightly).  I am having problems scanning, copying, and faxing. The automatic document feeder is functioning.  I have tried to reset the printer several times.
When I try to Scan a document in the document feeder (it does feed through) or from the glass, I get variable responses – rarely, it appropriately asks how I want to save/handle the doc (e.g., save as pdf), but the document does not actually scan and I am directed to Reload the document OR it displays No Scan Options. The document does not show in My Scans.
When I try to Copy, it shows the document as copying, but there is a long delay before the progress bar occurs.  When I copy using the document feeder, I actually get a copy (rarely and always faded-looking) or the copy prints out blank—both results are always followed by an error message to Reload the document.  When copying from the glass, the copy prints out blank with an error message to Reload the document
The same problems occur when trying to Fax.   Whether trying to scan, copy, or fax, the printer is making a lot of sounds of gears whirring.
Again, I can print a document from my PC without any problems – the problem is limited to scanning, faxing, and copying.
I have tried the HP Print & Scan Doctor.  It always stops at the HP Twain Scan step, saying the Scan process was cancelled by the user (not true).  When I click on Continue, it proceeds down to the Test Scan step, but nothing happens when I click on the Test Scan button.  It will only allow me to Skip at that point.   All of the other steps show green checks.
    This question was solved.

My first question is really going to get to the core of the issue, I heard you say that the printer makes sounds, but if you lift the lid does the bar A) travel across the screen and B) light up?
Additionally, perform both of these resets and let me know how they go!

I bought HP officejet j4680 all-in-one two months ago from a dealer. Now it keeps telling me a "paper jam" which doesn't exist. I tried everything from the troubleshooting in HP website. The jam light just keeps blinking. Now I am so frustrated with this product.

  • Officejet 4622 all in one error status

My officejet 4622 all in one, using windows 8 os, has totally stopped printing anything but test pages. Had the blue light flasing for a week saying it was offline ~ solved that problem, but now all I get is "status: error". Have checked all connections, rebooted wireless router, used every tool available on the printer, absolutely will not print. Don't want to replace it, but I will if I can't get it printing again. Help

    Hi @1oldgoat
I see you are having some difficulty with your 4622. There are a few things we can check. First, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.   Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
Also, make sure you have the latest firmware update. This firmware update can improve printer performance and fix miscellaneous defects.
    OJ4620_R1424A.exe
Finally, running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Source:Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> www.hp.com/go/tools
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • How can I use Active Print on my Ipad and print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one

I was previously able to use Active Print on my Ipod to print to my usb connected HP officejet 6110 all in one.  Now, however, with my Ipad version 2 I can no longer get this to work.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Hi,
HP do not provide any USB connection solution for iOS.
As Active Print is a 3rd party application which provide this functionality, i believe you may find a better help within Active Print support as they more familier with their application requirement and functionality:
