Flashing lines of dots

I opened my macbook a1181 and to the left side i have a vertical strip about 2 inches wide with lines of dots that flash.  When starting up the computer it is just a small area in the middle of the screen but once te computer is running its from top to bottom.  I recently install snow leopard 10.6.3. does the screen need tobe replaced or is it something else? please help

The dots you see the footprints of the sets of "star rollers" that facilitate the feeding of the paper. One way to prevent it would be to use slightly thinner photo paper. I've not seen this issue many times before. Not specifically to this printer either.

  • Flash line chart: manipulating the line and data point

    In Apex 3.1 Flash line chart
    Is there a way to change the line thickness and suppress the circular data point? We think it looks cartoonish and ugly especially when there are many data points.
    Thanks,
    Fred

    Hello,
    Use Custom XML in the Chart attributes and replace the line_chart section with:
          <line_chart left_space="5" right_space="5">
            <block_names enabled="no" />
            <dots type='circle' radius='2' />
            <lines size='1' auto_color='yes' tone='0xFFC700' color='0xC1C1C1' />
          </line_chart>I've put the example here also: http://examples.apex-evangelists.com/pls/apex/f?p=286:34:0
    If you come to ODTUG, OOW or our "European Apex Training Days" I'll go into more depth about all this.

  • 2d Flash Line Graph Issues

    Hi,
    I am editing the xml for the 2d flash line graph, and having difficulty performing some customisations.
    Could anyone assist with the following:
    1) Changing the default line colours. I have 4 series. Changing the following does not change the line colours:
    <line_chart left_space="5" right_space="5">
    <block_names enabled="no" />
              <dots radius="1"/>
              <lines size="1" auto_color="no" color="blue"></lines>
              <lines size="1" auto_color="no" color="red"></lines>
              <lines size="1" auto_color="no" color="green"></lines>
              <lines size="1" auto_color="no" color="pink"></lines>
    </line_chart>
    2) Is there any way to add commas (thousands) to the Y axis labels?
    Many thanks for any assistance with these
    Steve

    Hi Ben,
    Yes I was looking at that, but just discovered that I can do the following:
    <values show="no" thousand_separator="," />
    and it seems to do it.
    I am now having REAL issues with the X and Y axis formatting. I am including font nodes inside the y_axis / x_axis nodes (as per anychart 3 docs) but the formating properties are not changing the axis labeling:
    <!--
    <y_axis name="Water Injected (&P320_UNITS.)" smart="yes" direction="horizontal" rotation="-90" position="left_center" >
    <font size="20" type="Verdana" color="" bold="" italic="" underline="" align="left"/>
    </y_axis>
    <x_axis name="" smart="no" direction="horizontal" rotation="-90" position="top">
    <font size="20" type="Verdana" color="" bold="" italic="" underline="" align="left"/>
    </x_axis>
    -->
    do you have any experience with doing this?
    thanks again

  • Black screen with white flashing line on startup

    ~computer info~
    Mac OS X Version 10.6.7
    2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    24 in. Montior
    Startup disk: Macintosh HD
    ~Partition info~
    FAT32 Windows XP
    ~issue~
    Hello; I've recently encountered a problem with bootcamp that I can't find a solution to... Every time I start up the computer in boot camp, all I get is that black screen with the white flashing line. It comes up, goes to a plain black screen, then quickly comes up again. It never stops, either. I've let it run, and it won't finish.
    I've had the partition for MONTHS now, and nothing like this has happened. I've had it since I upgraded to Snow Leopard awhile back, and needed to re-partition the drive. I literally had been using it the day before it happened, and the only thing that happened was that I got that "Windows Security 2011" malware, but I got rid of it fully (As I've gotten it 3 times this month). The other two times I got it, it didn't do anything. I fixed it, and went on with life. But is it possible that it broke something in the partitions inner files this time?
    I ran disk utility, and it said the partition was broken. After verifying it and confirming this, I did "Repair Drive", as it allowed me to. It finished with no errors and said it completed, so I tried to go back into the partition, but it gave me the same results.
    To be honest, most of my stuff is on my External Harddrive, so re-doing the partition is only going to be time used to me. But I still DO have things on there, and it'd be a pain to transfer them back and forth between the Mac and Windows partitions... I'd really like to know if there's anyway to fix this, or if it's just going to fall back to me re-partitioning the drive...
    Thanks for the help in advance.

    That blinking line is a "cursor."  It's only supposed to show for a second or two as your iMac switches to and then starts Windows.  But as you indicate here, it's not getting past the cursor..
    Disk Utility can repair FAT volumes, but it cannot correct issues caused by corrupted items which, if the volume was repaired, there may be some.
    Since we are dealing with a Windows boot partition, it's entirely possible that the repairs inadvertently corrupted the data Windows needs to start and run.  It's also posible that Mac OS, in fixing the Boot Camp volume, overwrote the existing boot record in the Windows partition with a generic, though non-bootable version.
    Windows' own CHKDSK should have been used to make the repairs rather than the OS X Disk Utility, which would have avoided this worst-case scenario in data recovery.  CHKDSK has a special version of itself on the Windows disc, which may be accesed by using the Windiws Recovery Consile upon pressing R during the "Welcome to Setup" screen.
    Though it appears ftom my position here that you will need to reinstall XP, it may yet be possible to recover data that hasn't been copied to the external HDD.  For this task, I'd like to recommend that you start up in Mac OS for the time being, and pull any new or changed items from the Boot Camp volume except for installed software; the latter are nearly impossible to transport with reasonable accuracy, and should instead be reinstalled.
    Once you have what you need, format your Boot Camp volume and reinstall Windows, this time selecting NTFS as your filesystem.  NTFS is the preferred option for Windows in general, thiaks to its innate file access controls as well as the ability to compress or encrypt data "on the fly."  NTFS can be read by Mac OS X, but not written from it, thus NTFS volumes cannot be altered except by Windows itself..  But it is also a requirement if you plan to upgrade your unit using Windows 7 in future.

  • Flash line chart with multiple lines

    Here a newbie with apex...
    Created a flash line chart with as source the following sql statement:
    select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    group by year
    a chart has been created with a single line. i wanted every year on an own line.
    The way i could do this is with multiple series like:
    select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    where year =2008
    select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    where year =2009
    But this not a good solition, cause now i've to add every year a new serie
    hope to get some help from here... txn in advanced.

    tnx for your reply...
    I will explain myself more by a picture of the wanted result, see below:
    [Click here for the example image|http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/3444/grapha.jpg]
    In your reply you wright you think i can create the graph with pl/sql process. After seeing my example you still think that's needed?
    Hope you or some else can help... tnx in advanced.

  • Line style of Word tables is ignored. Broken lines or dotted lines appear as uninterrupted lines

    Bug in Adobe XI:
    The line style of Word tables is ignored. Broken lines or dotted lines in Word tables are shown as normal uninterrupted lines in PDF file.
    For example, in my Word document I choose the following line styles in tables: dotted line (.........................) or broken line ( - - - - - - - - - - - - ).
    In the PDF file, all lines are shown as normal uninterrupted lines (__________________), even if I zoom in 800% or more.
    Is there a solution for this problem? (In FreePDF, it works well, but FreePDF has other disadvantages and therfore is no solution for me.)

    Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
    The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
    I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
    It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
    You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
    My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • Suppression of nulls in Flash line graph

    I am running APEX 3.0.1. I have an application that displays a 2D Flash line chart of a time series of 4 variables as 4 different colored lines. This works quite well. In some cases one of the variables is null (data is not yet available). Currently, my Flash chart shows the variable going to zero if that variable is null. Instead, I would like my chart of that variable to stop at the last reported value, showing a break in the line when the variable is null.
    Any suggestions (custom XML, a chart setting change, etc) would be gratefully appreciated.
    Alvin Steele

    Alvin,
    This was requested by several APEX users, and the behavior will be updated for APEX 3.1. In APEX 3.0.1, I don't think there's much you can do without generating the XML entirely yourself using a custom procedure or process.
    You can check that 3.1 will work as you expect by testing on the Evaluation instance ( http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=647)

  • Problems with Flash Line Graphs

    I have two problems with the new Flash Line Graphs in APEX 3.1
    1. I have created a query that returns a set number of rows. Sometimes the VALUE for a specific row might be null. When this occurs the LABEL data does not show up on the X axis. I want the LABEL data to show up no matter what. How do I accomplish this?
    2. Related to the above query. When the VALUE field is null for 3 records (or more) in a row, not only does the LABEL data for those records not display, the VALUE and LABEL data for the records that appear in the set after these 3 records also do not display. If one or even two null VALUE fields appears in a row, things are still OK. What do I need to do to get all my data to display?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    THANKS
    Raymond

    Raymond,
    For the Interactive report chart issue, could it be related to this?

  • Appear flashing line on the screen during work

    I bought Macbook Air since 1st July 14. I found the flash line appear on screen during work but it's just shot line at the first and It appears just few secs. So I thought it's not too serious to me. Till now the line is seem more longer and appear frequently. Then I decide to take it to Service centre. They said my screen is not in its position. It's just a bit, If you don't look at it exactly, you won't notice it. I don't know what happen. It's usually as it was on fist day I bought it, never be fallen it. It's still in the good condition.  They fixed my problem by re-fit my screen but after I use it again I still found that flash line. what should I do? Now my air got the scratch on the screen edge from re-fitted it.  I really disappoint.

    I'm assuming by "flash line" you mean there's a horizontal or vertical line randomly appearing on your screen? If that's the case I've seen that on laptops before. If its an intermittent issue try to move the screen forwards and backwards on its hinge to see if you can find one spot where that line almost always appears. You should have an issue with the cable connection to the main logic board, or the cable itself could be malfunctioning.
    Also what exactly did they do when they "re-fit" your screen? Did they simple check the connectors, or actually dissemble the computer and resemble it? Either way if a cable is bad then it wouldn't have made a difference. You may be looking at a warranty replacement solution on this one.

  • Odd lines and dots everywhere...

    Ok I've been dealing with this issue for a bit too long and am finally fed up with it.
    Every once and a while these lines and dots will show up all over everything, it's particularly evident on drop shadows that are around the windows. Now let me give you an example as to when it happens. Everything is cool (and lines/dots free) so I put the computer to sleep for the night, wake it up the next morning and the lines/dots appear. So now I have these lines/dots everywhere. So I leave for an hour, come back and the screensaver is running, I move the mouse to break the screensaver's cycle and low and behold they've all disappeared. So I am completely dumbfounded, they come and go whenever they please.
    And it's not like it all of a sudden has started doing it, I inherited this computer from my brother and he had the problem as well, and just like my problem, it would come and go whenever for him.
    As for the system:
    Dual 2 GHz G5
    3.5GB ram
    10.5.6
    ATI Radeon X800 XT
    And a picture to show you what it's doing...

    Any and all help would be appreciated as this kinda gets in the way of my work.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

    +"Does the problem occur in OS X Tiger?"+
    It did this with Tiger too.
    +"Have you tried reseating the graphics card?"+
    Many times.
    +"What monitor do you use?"+
    20" Cinema HD display
    +"Is the cable of good quality and in good condition?"+
    Yep.
    Now back onto the dusting suggestion. Typical cleaning procedure is some canned air and a small mini vac. However just to make sure I took the card out just a few minutes ago to give it a more thorough cleaning. Got all of the dust off it, took a look in the squirrel cage/fan heatsink assembly and pulled out a huge wad of built up dust that was wedged in there... I am completely embarrassed because this is stuff I tell people to do all the time. Can we say cleaning 101, check your video card if you are having problems with it?!
    After I pulled that sucker out, I put the card back in, fired it up and no dots/lines... yet. HOPEFULLY this has solved the issue.
    I'm wondering how long it's been in there. God I feel so stupid!
    Thanks for the help guys (and gals).
    Back to work,
    Jon

  • What does an image of a closed lock on top of image of bar with line of dots on macbook pro window mean?

    What does an image of a closed lock over an image of a bar with a line of dots on a macbook pro screen mean?

    It's a bit hard to say wthout seeing it, it might by YDB Syndrome, the plague that was first described, documented and named by eminent and white-coated InDesign specialist Claudia McCue here.  Another fix for that is to try making the background colour process or RGB, not a Pantone Spot Colour.  If that doesn't work you could try posting a screenshot on this forum, use the camera tool on the web interface to upload a previously saved screenshot.

  • Pages symbol what is it? looks like lollipop vertical line with dot on end?

    trying to migrate from old pages in I work to new.  totally lost.  see a symbol in my document looks like a vertical line - with dot at top.  is one line tall. can't make it go away.
    What is it?  What does it do?  Had some shapes in the document - until I found what I really wanted - text boxes.  had devil of a time getting rid of shapes, still can't get rid of mystery lollipop.

    You seem to be supplying all your own answers, why not ask yourself?
    If they have an anchor their object placement is:
    Format > Arrange > Object Placement > Move with Text
    Change it to:
    Stay on Page
    Which is the equivalent of the old Floating.

    my ipod touch has been of for ages and now has blue squiggly flashing lines...is it broken or can I do something ?

    - First try resetting your iPod:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then restore the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problems persist, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    -  If still problems you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    bootrec /fixboot
    bootsec /nt60 all
    and still nothing.
    any ideas?
    best regards,

    I have beaten my head against the same brick wall, a few years ago now, with a MBP 3,1.
    Replaced optical superdrive drive with HDD, and used external USB optical drive. I discovered that there was no way any bootable Windows CD/DVD would boot from the external burner. Tried Microsoft install disks, Paragon and Acronis. Also tried a different burner which was firewire or usb
    I ended up putting the superdrive back in the MBP and all would boot again.
    I have since heard that there are exceptions and ways round this, but you may be in same situation.
    Windows is fussy about booting from external optical drives.

  • Getting rid of Markers in Flash Line charts

    Hi,
    I am trying to use Flash Line charts for plotting a few time series graphs. I wish to get rid of the markers and have only the lines.
    Is there any property I need to set to get rid of these markers. I tried "Marker Size=0" in the <line> setting. but doesn't seem to work.
    Any suggestions ?
