Flashing orange to green?

Why is my power adapter cord flash from orange to green intermidtently? ... (about every 5 seconds)
The percentage of the battery is now at 97%, and it seems like it was taking a longer amount of time to charge up.
I also switched power outlet plugs, to see if it was just the plug i was using.
any suggestions? I've already read the power/battery disscussion page for this topic, but I am still not sure what to do.
thanks!

This same thing has been happening to me. It started after the 10.5.1 update. I get the intermittent green-amber flashing on the charger. I can never get over about 95% charge before this occurs. Not only does this thing not charge all the way, I can't get it to discharge. The laptop shuts off (no warning or anything) around 30% charge. I hope this gets fixed in a hurry. My Macbook Pro isn't very mobile at the moment.

Orange and green flashing is unfortunately a failure indication.

  • Power adaptor light flashing orange to green

starting this morning my power adaptor seems to have an issue. the light keeps flashing back and forth bewteen orange and green. and therefore the computer wont really charge. it will operate plugged in this way though.
last week part of my cord did get damaged. the little bumpy part right next to the plug that goes into the computer. the first little bump of the three somehow came off. there does not seem to be a hole or tear in the cord under where it was though.
what purpose does that section serve? is that what is causing my problem?
    any ideas?
my computer is one year and one month old, grrrr no longer under waranty...

    Hi Michelle,
Given the sloppy design of the iBook, including its power adapter, I would suggest you bite the bullet and buy a new adapter. Otherwise your iBook's DC board may be damaged.
Resetting the PMU helps, as does unplugging both ends of the pwr adapter, waiting for at least 1 minute and plugging it back in. BUT, since you're sure the cable is broken, GET A NEW ONE!
I had a similar problem with my power adapter for my 3-month old iBook, except that the light would suddenly not turn green at all. The cord and the rest of the adapter were intact. I was lucky I still had 7 months of warranty left and got a new adapter from Apple. So far everything is ok.
    Good luck, Michelle!

  • New iPod won't work flashes orange then green then orange then green

Does anyone know what's wrong? Nothing plays. I don't see this sequence on my little card that shows what all the light sequences mean.
I thought that this could mean I don't have any songs on it, but I synched my iPod in iTunes (I switched from a very old iPod to a new one). For all my existing songs I clicked 'Sync Bradley's iPod' (which I believe it did automatically when I first put it in anyway). I assumed this synched all my old songs to my new iPod. Is there something more I need to do? If so what?
But still, I'm not sure that's the problem...
I thought maybe it could be because I was using a weak USB port. I originally put it in my hub, but then I connected it to the one that connects directly to my computer in the front, and I'm still having the same issue...
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Brad

edited: You already fixed your first issue...
    For your second problem:
You have the most recent version of iTunes installed and did you install the full cd that came with your pod? How are you moving the files onto your iPod?

  • Flashing Orange / Green Light

I have a 512 MB Shuffle that I bought about 2 years ago. I haven't used it for a while, and decided to dust it off. It loads correctly to the computer, but I get the flashing green orange light when I press play. In reading another post, I checked to see if the files are compatible, and they are. I've also got the latest version downloaded. Can someone give me a clue as to what to do or am I screwed?

I have the same problem, but mine doesn't show up as a drive on either my PC or my Mac, not in iTunes either, and it doesn't play music.
I ran the utility, but it didn't change the status of the flashing orange and green lights.
Is there any way to at least get it to the status of just a storage drive?

  • Died macbook pro dim green flashing orange macbook problems

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro unibody 13". I have turned my macbook off in all normal steps and keeps it turned off for two days.
But on the day when I gonne turn my macbook on, its just totally died. No battery lights. Nothing. When I connect the mag safe just show a dim green light, and sometimes its flashing orange.
    I already tried:
    -Smc reset (shift+Ctrl+option+power)
-Push the power button for 10 sec, then put the mag safe cable while pushing for more 10 secs.
-Take out the baterry cable and replace.
Could it be a DC in board?
But nothing happens. Its still totally dead.
Could anyone help me? Any ideas?

    Hi Robzar,
Based on the information you have provided, it appears your MacBook Pro needs to be serviced. • I got a canon EOS rebel T3 camera yesterday and it flashed orange and I can't take anymore pictures!

So, yesterday I got a Canon EOS Rebel T3 and it was working perfectly fine and I was just getting the hang of it! But then all of a sudden i don't know/remember pressing anything and it flashed orange when I went to take a picture and it did it again and it wasn't the battery because the batterie was halfway and I don't know what to do... It doesn't make a noise or anything when I click the shutter button! Please help me I'm freaking out!

Hold on don't send it anywhere until you:
Remove the battery for 30 minutes or so. Make sure it is fully charged and reinsert it.
Use a known good SD card.  <----very important
Make sure you go into the menu and set everything back to factory defaults. (Check your manual)
Make sure the dial on the top is set to the green square.
    Now try it again!

Problems setting up my TC. Have just bought new iMac(OS 10.6.8) and  TC. I tried to set it up. iMac cannot find it. I have tried direct connection with an ethernet cable to Mac or direct to my wireless router but nothing. Just a flashing orange light. Help for a simpleton please. Have tried reseting TC, but to no avail.

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
    Hmm, ideas anyone?

  • Airport Extreme is connecting to the internet, but still flashes orange.

I've set up an Airport Extreme and it is connecting to the internet, however its light still flashes orange on the unit and in Airport Utility ver. 6.2 and it has a red circle with a "1" in it similar to the alert notification on an iPhone for messages and email. What does this mean? As I said, I can connect devices to it and connect to the internet, so it seems to be functioninbg fine. So why isn't the status light green?

If the problem does not resolve itself by powering down your network equipment, a complete reset of all your equipment is justified. Power down the modem and "hard reset" the Extreme, followed by reconfiguring it using AirPort Utility.
Power down your modem whenever you change what is physically connected to it. Make it a habit.

Originally it had the "double nat" issue but when I went to bridge mode my whole set-up failed.
That should probably be resolved as well. More information is required regarding this failure.
Sometimes, an attempt to reconfigure a minor setting will result in what appears to be a total meltdown followed by extreme user frustration. In that event, starting over with a "hard reset" and subsequent reconfiguration is generally the best way to proceed.

  • The Flashing Orange Power Light Of Doom! [HH3]

I've had no internet service for a week now, on Infinity 2 with HH3.
All lights on the white modem are green, the hub won't even start, just goes to a steady orange, then after about 15 seconds, a continuously flashing orange power light, and stays there.  The other lights are dark.  Power cycle doesn't work, holding down the reset button doesn't even reset it.
After lengthy "troubleshooting" on the phone with India, I received a replacement HH3 yesterday, plugged it all in and got all blue lights for all of 3 seconds and then - wham - reset to flashing orange light, which now stays there no matter what I do.  The issue was escalated to "Tier 1 support" by India yesterday, but heard nothing.
No service problems reported in my area according to the BT website, but India seemed adamant that it was a network issue (after being adamant that it was a faulty hub earlier in the week...).
This is getting very frustrating now, anyone have any idea what could be causing this ??!   I really just want an engineer to come out but India wouldn't arrange that.

It should be quite easy to prove by bypassing the hub and connecting the modem to the PC, then setting up a broadband PPPOE connection.
Here's some instructions provided by Rygg
try a direct connection to the modem. This will rule out your homehub and internal wiring as the fault.
1: Remove the homehub from the modem
2: Connect your pc/laptop into the modem using LAN1 port
3: Open network and sharing centre on windows and click set up a new connection or network
4: Connect to the Internet (the top option) then click make a new connection Broadband PPPoE
5: Username [email protected] and the password as anything you want
6: connect, if it cannot connect, just keep pressing try again if this happens and it will eventually connect.

  • Outage in my Area - now constant flashing Orange l...

Apparently, last night my internet went down and was area specific.
Since then it's been repaired, but my HH3 refuses to connect.
My OpenReach modem has 3 solid green lights, but my 'b' on my HH3 is constantly flashing Orange.
I've Reset my modem, losing all my settings and forwarded ports, switched both devices off for over an hour, but yet the problem persists.
    Totally screwed HH3?
Phoned BT and was told to go through the rigmaroll again - so I did. Same result.
The Call centre had no idea and have escalated the issue, still leaving me without any connection.
I'm using 3G tethered to my PC to get online at the moment.
Is there anything else I can try to get back online or do I just have to wait for an engineer to be scheduled?

plug the modem into your pc and set up a pppoe connection
if it connects then the router is faulty
if not then you need an engineer

  • IPod flashing orange though disk use is disabled

Hello, my iPod Shuffle (4th gen) is flashing orange (and the windows safely remove hardware thing appears) until I sync it with iTunes or safely remove it (the led changes to solid green and the hardware removal thing disappears), though disk use is disabled. I already resetted the iPod but that didn't fix the problem. I'm using Win 7 64-bit.
(And I think it's only supposed to flash if it's syncing or enabled as volume.)

HI, my tall time capsule is flashing orange. What does that mean? And how do i correct it to be green?

Click the Finder icon on the dock at the lower left of your Mac's screen, then open Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the Time Capsule picture
If you see an Update button, click it
Otherwise, click on the small amber icon and a message will appear to tell you why the amber light is flashing
