Flashing red LED - 800w won't charge or turn on

Love my new 800w especially in comparison to my old 700wx that never worked quite right.  Loved it even more after I figured out how to turn off the GPS and extend battery life.  Figured that doing a few full charge-full drain cycles would help battery life in the future and reduce memory effect, so ran through 2 cycles fine and on my third...disaster.
Battery drained to 0.  Device autopowered off.  Got back to my AC charger, plugged it in, LED went red, figured it was charging.  An hour later, turned it on, got the booting up message, got to the main screen where it showed a zero battery with AC plugged in...and now it's dead.
I now see a solid red LCD when plugged in for about 10-30 seconds, then it turns off for about 1/2 second, rinse, repeat.  Will not start up, period - battery or no battery.  Have tried soft resets (removing battery) numerous times, tried hard reset, but hard to do a hard reset if there's no way to turn this on.
Any suggestions?  Should I buy a new battery?  Is the old one covered under warranty?

I had the exact same problem after the phone went completely dead and I tried to revive it by charging it with my car charger. (I read that when the phone is completely dead, it is recommended that you use the wall charger)  It would not give me a red light indicator most of the time showing that it was charging.  When I got home, I tried using the AC adaptor and I had the flashing red light.  The phone would power on by itself after about 10 minutes of being plugged in.  The phone would boot up and give me about 20 seconds to mess around before it would go dead again.  At that point, the red light would not come on at all despite being plugged in and I would have to pull the battery and start from scratch.  What I did notice that no matter how many times I did this, the battery would have 0% when the cell phone would actually boot up.
What I ended up doing was a hard reset, but the only way I was able to hard reset the phone was to hold down the red button for a few minutes after plugging in the phone... so when the phone decided it wanted to startup I had the button pushed down.  It then asked me if I wanted to erase the data, I said yes, and the phone started working properly again.

    Help!
My friend was trying to install a theme on my blackberry curve 8300 with her laptop and her blackberry manager. She was trying to sync when a message popped up saying it was deleting applications so she hit cancel and disconnected.
Since she disconnected the USB i have a black screen and flashing red LED. No response when I hit the power button. No response from taking the battery out, waiting, putting the battery back in. No response with ALT-SHIFT-DELETE.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Error 507 simply means the device has no operating system on it.
Basically, you need to load an OS to the BB....

  • My 4th gen iPod touch has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on

I have a 4th gen iPod touch. It has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on. I cannot restore it because it won't show up in iTunes. I have tried pressing and holding the home and/or the power key but that does not work as well. I have tried restarting Apple Mobile Support. I have updated my iTunes. I have tried EVERYTHING but it will not turn on at all. Any suggestions?

    Hi BCarolinaCopper,
This sounds like you need to have a battery replacment this can be done if you have AppleCare or you will have to pay if unable to if the fault continues please

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • Ipad won't charge unless turned off

My iPad 2 won't charge unless turned off and in some cases not at all.  It does this off and on.  Typically, it'll stop charging when turned on and I can turn it off and charge it to over 40% (or so. . . .it varies) and then it will charge the rest of the way while turned on. And then, I can go through long periods --maybe a month-- where it will charge as usual (while on) but then suddenly it will stop charging while on and will only do so when off.  This back and forth has gone on for several months. Today it stopped charging even when off.  Given history, it might kick in and start charging suddenly but I fear that the battery could run out this time and I'll not be able to charge and restart it. I'm at 20%.  I am using the iPad 10W charger and I have a new one so the cord is good and it works to charge my iPhone as well.  I have also tried rebooting the system, holding down the home and start button.  Anyone have experience with this and a solution?

you can also try the universal troubleshooting step of resetting your iPad. No data is lost so don't worry.
You can reset your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Red light and won't charge

I got my bb 9300 a couple of weeks ago. my problem is that it suddenly shuts off and the led would turn to red light. it won't turn on. I thought it was just battery empty or something so I charge my phone, it them keeps on having red light and then keeps on having this image of no battery or something. It did turn on one time then vibrates hard and then turns off again. After that it won't turn on. just red light, no battery. Please help.

If you tried a wall charger (that previously worked with your shuffle) and computer ports, the most likely cause is a problem on the iPod.  At seven months, it may not be the battery (although it sounds like you use it a lot every day), but it sounds like the battery is unable to charge.
Does the iPod still appear in iTunes when you connect it?  If it does, you can try doing a Restore using iTunes.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
If the wall charger is something you did not previously try, it's possible that the computer's USB port is not supplying enough power.  As a test, shut down (power off) your computer and disconnect all USB devices (including any hubs).  You can leave standard keyboard/mouse connected, if used.  If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter so that it's not running on battery power.  Put the shuffle power switch in the OFF position.  Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer.
At seven months, it is still under warranty.

  • When I wake up, I have email, but no flashing red LED!

Last night, I plugged the charger into my 8900, saw the clock displayed, and went to sleep.  When I woke up this morning, I had 4 new emails and 2 text messages, but the LED was still blinking green, not red.  Had I not looked at the 8900's screen, I would not have know there were messages waiting for me.
I searched the forums on this issue, and came across one post which said exiting the bedside mode by bypassing the clock application's "Exit Bedside Mode" option can cause this.
All I can think of, is that I might have set it to Bedside Mode (which turns off the LED) and then pressed the MUTE button to put it in standby.  I remember seeing the message dialog box show up saying the phone was entering standby mode, but the message never went away.  I cleared the dialog box by pressing the red End Call button.  I think the phone may also have exited Bedside Mode at that time, or I may have manually exited it via the clock's option.  My guess is that this is what caused the LED not to flash red after receiving messages.  Unfortunately, I've been unable to replicate the error using this method, or any combination thereof.
    Any ideas?

The blinking red LED blinks ONLY for about 15 minutes after receipt of a message or email. Unless you had received the email and SMS in the 15 minutes prior to your waking, there is no reason your LED should have been blinking.

  • Possible 8530 brick, HELP!! Just flashing red LED, Two then Three

I may have bricked my fiancee's phone
I connected it via USB cable to my PC, the PC responded as if it were a new device and started the driver install etc, it said the process was finished. The screen on the 8530 showed the computer hourglass twice on a black screen, and then went completely dark. The only sign of life from it is the LED flashing red, two then three flashes. The computer doesn't detect the device and neither does the BB Desktop Software.
I've pulled the battery, let it RIP, then put it back in and the same. Same with the battery out and the USB cable in. Same on wall charger cord.
I've Googled it to death and nothing has helped. Any and all suggestions are welcome, she's threatening severe bodily harm and more if I can't resolve this.... At the very least can any tell me what the phone is saying through the LED? It flashes red twice quickly, short pause, then three quickly, then repeats after about 3-4 sec.
    HELP!!!

  • Luna BH-220 Flashing red led for hours

I just received my two Luna head sets. The first one charged up fine and did the NFC pair no problem, but the second unit seems to be having a problem.
The second one just flashes the red led when it is in the cradle. The Led on the cradle is green. The red led on the ear piece turns off if I remove the charger, but just returns to flashing when I plug it back in. This has gone on for the past 5 hours. How do I get this unit reset? What does the flashing LED mean? Both units had very sparse information in the box and I can not find the user manual anywhere on the Nokia support site. The Luna isn't even listed in the support accesories section. Maybe it's too new??.

UPDATE: finally managed to get nokia to return my THIRD broken nokia bh-220 bluetooth device, as I purchased it from amazon.
Filled out the necessary online form and sent it to FONEBIZ for the repair (authorised nokia repairs).
Two days later, I receive a phone call saying that the device is NOT covered and I am to pay a whopping $170 for them to REPLACE my green device for a BLACK ONE. (See attached photo for proof). Please bare in mind that I only paid $57 for my green nokia luna BRAND NEW. So where FONEBIZ get thier estimate from is simply outrageous.
When I contacted Nokia, they said their customer service represented was wrong, and she shouldn't have given me the details to return the item. Once again NOKIA, WHERE ARE YOUR BRAINS HERE.?
    NOTE
DO NOT BUY NOKIA PRODUCTS PERIOD
DO NOT RETURN ITEMS TO FONEBIZ THEY WILL SIMPLY RIP YOU OFF, AND ARE CLEARLY INCOMPETENT AT REPAIRING BLUETOOTH DEVICES. SO I WOULDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO LET THEM REPAIR A PHONE.
NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL ME OR MY FAMILY PURCHASE A NOKIA PRODUCT. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THEM.
And I encourage, whoever is reading this, to just acknowledge she sheer hell I've been through just for a simple cheap bluetooth device, and just make sure your aware of the risk when buying a more expensive product. Nokia didn't give a second thought to my bad luck. Why would they treat you any different.
WE ARE JUST MONEY TO THEM...

  • Sony Xperia M2 flashing Red LED light and wont turn on.

Okay so i have been having this problem for about a week.I tried turning on my phone the other day but it wasnt doing that so i thought maybe it ran out of battery then i let i charge for a couple of hours and left it untouched. When i came back my phone was flashing a red light and the sony logo would apear and my phone would vibrate but then it would shut down again. This has been happening for all week i let it charge overnight but still the same thing happens flashing red and vibrating.Sometimes the light dosent flash and i can turn my phone on for a while but i never know when it could randomly shut down.i tried using the Pc companion program to try and fix it but my phone wont stay on for long enough for it to be able to do that.Any tips on what i could do ? the last thing i wanna do right now is call sony so please if you know any possible way of fixing this let me know

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Have you tried to power on the phone without SIM- and/or SD-card to see if this can help? Otherwise, a software repair via PC Companion would be recommeded:
    http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it. When you are going to connect the phone, the phone should be completely off. Hold the ON/OFF button + volume up(+) for 10 seconds.

I did thing is its really a lot of hassle. Im based in England, and I need to call a number in dublin (International call) and then pay 6.75 to a 'tutoring session' which will last 30 minutes. That's why I was trying to resolve my problem on here, they don't even know what it could be either. http://forums.crackberry.com/ask-question-f432/bb-z30-stopped-working-not-reacting-red-light-flashes...
See last post for a possible solution:
"Confirming the solution I found...install BB-link software and connect the device to the PC with the USB cable.
Link software tells you no connection can be made and you have 2 choices: reconnect or reload
Click reload and the device will be reset to factory settings...this did take 30-40 minutes for me.
After this has completed you have to set up the device as if it is a new device...including for me the enterprise activation.
But in the end it's working again... "

  • IPOD - flashing red in itunes won't read or write

I seem to be having a major problem. After updating to 10.4.2 the ipod was sluggish when adding songs. My Ipod was wiped clean in itunes 5 then I had a folder with an exclamation point - followed all the advice reformatted etc. I was able to load 3 songs - 1 at a time after shut down. Now when Itunes opens the ipod is flashing red and then I get the message - can't read from or write too. What do I do?? I reformatted 3-5 time, changed fire wire ports shut down etc - still no luck.

I am not sure this will fix it, but you mentioned a photo editing program had been installed. If that was due to a new digital camera, you might try changing the drive letter assigned to the ipod. Some digital cameras and photo frames seem to "take over" certain drive letters (typically E,F,or G).
Try changing the ipod drive letter to something further down the alphabet, like M. Directions are at the end of this article:

  • Flash From Within, now won't charge.  Please help

I have a 17 inch PowerBook 1.33, running the latest everything. I had my laptop plugged in (its a relatively new charger too, replaced recently) and was typing away with the laptop sitting on my lap.
I went to put it on the table in front of me, and at the moment that I put the computer on the table, I saw 2 blinks from within the computer. I saw these blinks through the left speaker, towards the top, right near where the charger plugs into the computer. As soon as that happened, the LED light on the charger went off, and the computer no longer thought it was charging.
I reset the PMU multiple times (shut down, ShiftControl+OptionPower Button, release, wait 5 seconds, start up computer) but to no avail.
I have a very depressing feeling that I blew something on the logic board, or soemthing happened that is going to require the loevely $700 charge from Apple to fix.
I figured I'd bring it into the Apple store and have Genius look at it, but I doubt that will solve anything.
    Any help would be appreciated.
-From a poor college student who is freakin out.

    A brand new battery would require a full charge in order to be used;
so you are lucky, in that the new battery had enough power already.
So that is not an indicator of much, other than the MagSafe Board
in the computer itself may have sustained damages due to ???
and would need to be checked over by an authorized tech or if you
are near an Apple Store with Genius bar, call ahead for appointment
to have a diagnostic test done and take along the MagSafe adapter
so they can see if that is part of the problem.
Of course, an optical drive issue could be part of a diagnostic check.
If you are in the US or Canada, the retail Apple Store offers a free
service of a diagnostic, even though the computer is no longer
covered by an AppleCare plan. So that is worth taking a drive...
