Flashing windows in Photoshop

Hi! I recently had to reformat my computer and decided to try a Photoshop trial to see if it was worth upgrading from my ancient Photoshop 7. I am experiencing a problem where the window with the image I'm working on keeps flashing--kind of a quick white strobe. I have used Photoshop 7 without this problem, but when I uninstalled CS and reinstalled my old copy of 7, the problem persisted. The flashing seems to randomly happen only when I am actually trying to paint/erase/blue, etc.
It does not seem to seriously impact the program itself, but the constant flashing when I try to focus on the image is giving me a severe headache. I have tried everything that I could think to do, but nothing works--is there anything that I can do to stop this?

Photoshop uses a software generated cursor for certain tools, such as the
selection cursor and others. The idea is to simulate a Macintosh cursor,
changing the color to make the cursor visible on a variety of backgrounds.
Pressing the space bar causes the cursor to change to the hand cursor,
which uses the video hardware, instead of Photoshop's software cursor.
So - now that we know the cause of the problem, the solution is to make
sure that your video board is working correctly. I'd start by making sure
that your hardware accelerator slider is all the way to the right in your
display settings.
It's worth some effort to make sure that you really are using the latest
drivers, and whether anyone else on this list has the same video board and
is not having problems.

  • How to Edit Flash Symbol in Photoshop?

In Flash CS4, I have a graphic of a long filmstrip with 24 pix in it. I need to edit the symbol in photoshop (to put all new pix in), and then replace the current filmstrip with the new filmstrip. How? This is CS4, not CS5.

Add an image to a folder with your fla, image folder(with image inside) and then re import image to stage again then try 'EDIT' the file!

  • I work with a website where I need to open a flash window to examine the changes that I have made. I cannot use my mouse inside this flash window. Help?

I work on a website where I open a flash window to see how the changes I have made look. When I open the flash window, my mouse no longer works properly - I cannot click into the window - and scroll down to look at it. It also seems to "lock" up the page as I cannot click anywhere sometimes on this page (original or the flash window.) If I click on a different page completely and then go back, it seems to reset (actually sort of blinks) and then I can close the flash window. When I use the touchpad on my laptop, it works fine. When I use internet explorer, it works.

What kind of menu opens if you right click in the Flash area?<br />
Is that the Flash player menu?
You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

  • After viewing a site with a flash window in it, the next site shows a blank rectangle where the flash window of the previous site was. This persists through all subsequent sites. How can I eliminate this flash window persistence?

using the latest Firefox Beta, after opening Shambhala.org site, the flash window shows up as a blank rectangle on subsequent sites. I am using Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard. The only way I can get rid of the blank rectangle is to restart Firefox.

That sounds like a known problem on OS X. From the known issues section of the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0b5/releasenotes/ Firefox 4 Beta 5 Release Notes]
"Plugin content can be rendered incorrectly leaving blank white squares over web content. Scrolling or switching tabs will often fix the problem, although sometimes you must close the tab which contains that plugin content (see [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=592453 bug 592453])"
This should be fixed in the next beta.

  • Flash animations are out of the flash window limit ...

When I place a flash animation in power point using breeze
presenter, and I publish the presentation it is possible to see the
animations that are out of the flash window limit …
What can I do to make the breeze respect the flash limits and
hide the animations outside those limits?
    Thanks!

Just out of curiosity....is it possible that you've got
elements in flash that begin OFF the flash stage and then animate
    ONTO it?
There was a *funky* artifact of creating flash animations
that played very strangely when imported into Breeze; there was a
tech note about this, but I haven't found it recently. If your
flash animation *must* be 200 x 200, then what I'd try is this:
In flash, create a mask layer and be sure to have all other
layers become masked by it. I realize that without seeing your
animation, that it's probably "easier said than done"... However,
the thing to note here is that by masking the stage in flash (and
thus all the elements animated within it), you'll effectively kill
the visibility of all visual elements that are off the stage.
For what it's worth, I'd be happy to assist if you need
further help. Just drop me a note using the private message
function, or email me at [email protected]

  • Flash windows in web page do not print preview or print - works in IE

    Specs:
Win XP Pro, SP3, Laptop and Win 7 Desktop
    FF 3.6.10
    IE8
Latest flash for IE and FF - 10.1.85.3 (previous 10.1 versions also issue)
I routinely use www.speedtest.net and www.speakeasy.net/speedtest to perform speed tests for troubleshooting issues. Both use Flash windows to show the Download/Upload speed test progress and final results.
In IE8, both ''print preview'' and ''print'' work and display/print the contents of the flash windows. In FF, everything displays/prints properly expect the content of the Flash windows - they are blank.
Apologize, as I imagine this has had to be reported in the past as I've seen posts via Google search going back many years, but could not find anything recent in FF help or forum. In addition, I assume this could be a Flash issue. However, if it is, it is not impacting IE. Regardless whether an FF or Adobe issue, I believe that Mozilla should head up and manage the repairs.

If you just need an image of the page (not the browser frame or full desktop), the FireShot extension will do that. I have been using FireShot for some time and am quite happy with the results. I just tested it on www.speedtest.net results on my XP system and it worked. With Fireshot, you can add notations and print or save the image (full screen or just visible area). Do not opt for the paid "Pro" version, just use the free version. If you use it, you may want to block outgoing connection to screenshot-program.com in your firewall; I do not know why it tries to make that contact with it each screen capture, but it works fine with the firewall blocking the outgoing connection.

Windows 7, Photoshop cs6 : I need to reinstall photoshop cs6 that is down on my PC. What is the procedure?

You shouldn't have to deactivate it if it's the same computer.  Remove photoshop as best you can using Windows Uninstall.  Then reinstall a new copy from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
Make sure you select the same version that you had before (extended or not, same OS, etc).  It shouldn't be an issue if it's the same computer.

    Hi Neale,
That was my first thought as well, I do know that Photoshop sometimes gets a surge of shite to the brain and refuses to download the movie formats.
However after your mail I went again, through every individual pic/, about 1500 of them and yea, you were right there was one bloody movie file.
Thanks so much really appreciate your help.

  • CS4 Mac - File Dialog Moves Flash Window Down

    I have Flash CS4 10.0.1.545 Mac with OS X 10.5.6:
I have the standard Workspace and when I select Import to import an image, the open file dialog in OS X slides down from the top of the stage and the entire Flash window that is holding my timeline and stage moves down about 100 pixels. I then import, then I click the top of the window to move it back up and it snaps back instantly as soon as I click on it before I drag it up.
Anyone else getting this on the Mac?

The only way to avoid this is to resize the dialog so that it's so short it doesn't go down past the Dock. Since this dialog spawns at the top of the stage, putting the timeline at the bottom instead of the top helps.

  • Flash panels crashing Photoshop CS4

Flash panels crash Photoshop CS4 under the following conditions:
    1. The "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is activated under Edit > Preferences > Interface.
    2. The flash panel is collapsed to an icon.
    3. You click on the panel icon to display it and run a filter plugin from the flash panel.
The crash happens when you run the filter plugin from the panel or after you click OK on the plugin dialog. Sometimes the crash happens after the plugin was applied and you do something else in Photoshop.
I was able to reproduce the problem with my own ThePluginSite panel and the Blow-Up panel of Alienskin.
If the "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is deactivated, there is no crash.
Can this problem be fixed in Version 11.02 of Photoshop CS4?

What does this have to do with the SDK?  Does it crash in a plugin that you wrote using the SDK?
Or are you just trying to report a bug in the flash panel code?  If so, use the normal bug report form, and include details so we can work with Alien Skin to resolve the problem.

  • Can you run a windows only Photoshop plugin on a Mac using Parallels?

Can you run a windows only Photoshop plugin on a Mac using Parallels?   In particular a .8BF plugin like PTFilters.8BF  or Super Cubic.

If you also have a Photoshop version of the Photoshop application, the answer is of course YES.
    Otherwise, the answer is no,
If you have the CC subscription, then of course you can install a Photoshop Windows version and run your plug-in.  That'll be separate from your Photoshop Mac install..

Working window for Photoshop CS5 has turned lite blue. How do I change it back to grey?

You talking about the empty canvas border around the image?  On a PC one would normally open a document in tabbed view, then right-click the mouse in the space around the outside of the document.  Then you can change the color.
