FlashPaper PDF...

I turned a pdf into an swf with FlashPaper. The flashpaper
swf did not preserve any of the links that were in the pdf. How can
I create links in my FlashPaper?
Is there anyway to bring my flashpaper into flash and maybe
even just stick some invisible buttons over items in it to make
them appear like links?

Okay, figured out my problem. I was creating the PDF from an
original Word document using FlashPaper's PDF creation tool. Bad
move. Once I created the PDF using Acro Pro, everything was back to
normal...

  • InDesign and FlashPaper pdfs

    Hi, I work for an educational publishing company and we are
    trying to convert InDesign files to FlashPaper pdfs. We have been
    using the print feature to achieve this, but when we print it takes
    away the "find" or searchable function. Anyone experienced this?
    We're on a tight deadline and need answers fast.

    Like most operations, one tool or the other is more appropriate according to the makeup of the task. It's not just about which PDF is somehow "better," (there are many ways to produce PDF's, and the quality of output isn't necessarily directly dependent upon the originating application), but rather which tool is the correct one for the job.
    For instance, a movie poster can certainly be done completely in Photoshop to good effect. But, if I was laying out the pages of a textbook, where images and longer passages of paragraph-based text were to be mixed, the typographical and document assembly capabilities of InDesign would be indispensible. That's just an example. The very essence of art and design is learning and devising ways to use the available tools alone and in combination to produce a particular result, effect, or solution.

  • PDF links broken in SWF Flashpaper after conversion.

    I've been building a flash app to view documents that exist as PDF files currently.
    A recent demo of this app viewing the PDFs converted to SWF in Flashpaper viewer embedded in Flash player, we noticed that the embedded links (both interdocument links and the internet based links) were broken (didn't work).
    Is there something we were doing wrong or is there a fix for this in a newer flashpaper version?
    Thanks,
    John

    According to this http://www.adobe.com/products/flashpaper/productinfo/features/static_tour/navigation/hyper linking.html hyperlinks are supported, however I've seen these not working after converting PDFs to SWFs in my testing.
    Is there some requirement for hyperlinks (both internal to the document and external internet links) to be working correctly after the conversion?

  • FlashPaper from PDF Doesn't Search

    Greetings Flashers! I need to be able to search a FlashPaper
    document that is being converted from a PDF. As of now, I am unable
    to search the new FlashPaper document. The original PDF is created
    in InDesign CS2 and is being exported as a PDF, version 7. I did
    see on here that to fix this search issue, one should save the PDF
    as a version 5.1, but that didn't seem to work. Can anyone help me
    with this? Thanks so much in advance!

    Hi,
       Same problem here too.
       I am using:
        FlashPaper 2.0,
        Flash Player 10,
        Acrobat 9 Pro,
        Flash CS5.5.
          But, search does not work when printing from PDF. (It works when I print from MS-Word)
    Please let me know if any solution available.

  • PDF to FlashPaper 2

    hi all,
    I'm trying to build an application over Coldfusion that
    implements a conversion from a pdf into a Flashpaper document. The
    only way I had found to do that is using FlashpaperConnect.dll that
    comes with Contribute 3. My problem is that I need to run
    ColdFusion over Linux and Contribut does not have a Linux version.
    Question:
    Is there any library for linux with the same function of
    FlashpaperConnect.dll?
    Anybody know another way to implement this kind of conversion
    that could work in linux?
    Thanks,
    FerSantaFe

    After more research, it looks like in my FlashPaper (made
    from PDF files) the characters are shifted by a consistent amount.
    Using the Unicode character set (you can see a reference in
    Windows XP by going to the Start Menu, then
    Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map), in
    which each character is represented by a number, each character is
    shifted by this function:
    f(x) = 288 - x
    I made a custom search box which translates each character
    the user's looking for behind the scenes and uses the FlashPaper
    API to search for the new, shifted text:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashpaper/2/flashpaper_api/flashpaper_api2. html
    An amusing detail is that in trying to support
    case-insensitive searches, where if they type "cat" and it also
    finds "Cat", the following letters are treated as equivalent in
    searching:
    [=;
    Z=:
    Y=9
    X=8
    W=7
    V=6
    U=5
    T=4
    S=3
    R=2
    Q=1
    P=0
    N=.

  • Embed a PDF Viewer in a webpage (FlashPaper?)

    Hello,
    I am a creative cloud member, primarily using Dreamweaver, Photoshop at the moment.  My client would like to have a embedded PDF viewer similar to the on on this link: http://www.blurb.com/books/5607793-zunior-eats-hard-cover
    (I've seen info about something called FlashPaper and understand that it's been discontinued.) My questions is does Creative Cloud offer something that could achieve this without a ton of coding? I've found a couple of options if not, but would love to use and promote the creative cloud suite.
    Thanks.
    JS

    No. Why even bother? Safari, Chrome and Firefox have built-in PDF viewers and even Internet Explorer is getting one in v12 according to rumours and you can of course always install Reader/ Acrobat. You also seem to misunderstand something - that Blurb stuff is all based on web techniques using their proprietary APIs, not PDF.

  • FlashPaper not preserving PDF Bookmarks

    I want to be able to convert my PDFs (with bookmarks) into
    FlashPaper, preserving the bookmark and having the newly created
    swf open with the bookmark bar open. I have tried several different
    ways to conveting the existing file but no luck getting the
    bookmarks to show up. I had thought FlashPaper 2 had this ability,
    but is bookmark preservation a feature of conversion via Microsoft
    Office only? Anyway around this?

    The title bookmarks for the chapters won't be out of order in the book, but you indicated that they are (at the end of the sub-levels) for chapters 2 and 8 when done separately. If the text frames holding these titles were created after the main flow text frames, that would explain why things are things are misbehaving.
    To specify the expanded bookmark level, you need to explicitly type in the level value that you want [ignore the drop down list and "Default" setting].
    From the Book file, regenerate the TOC before you test the links. If you get a "File not found" after this, in the TOC, then something is really messed up i nhe TOC file. I would rename it and create a new one for the book. You can then import your formatting from the older, renamed version.

  • No PDF conversion with FlashPaper 2

    I just installed FlashPaper 2 on my Windows PC (XP) and also
    on my Mac (OSX). On both systems the interface of FlashPaper 2 does
    not offer the conversion to PDF, which is described in the link
    "features overview" on
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashpaper/.

    Daveorne wrote:
    they tell me ID can do that.
    Ugh...in some companies, that is training.
    Don't take this the wrong way David, but of course ID can't do anything. PDF2ID conversions can be sketchy in the hands of the experienced. The same can be said of properly preparing matials for print. As Bob has already alluded, you're in an unfair position there. It's not uncommon for "management" types to just throw some sophisticated tools at a need and expect someone to make it work. In order to do what's being asked of you, you'll have to learn a fair bit about InDesign and production. It's too soon to ask about the output when you haven't learned to manage the input.

  • PDF to FlashPaper Issues

    I have a couple of unresolved issues regarding the conversion
    of PDF to FlashPaper:
    1. Search function does not work ! FlashPaper is not able to
    search/find anything in the documents. I have tried many different
    ways of conversion (even printing the Original Indesign file
    directly to FlashPaper printer). Does not work...
    2. External links do not work as well they are no
    clickable...
    3. I have noticed that Adobe does not provide any feedback to
    this discussion group...they are selling FlashPaper, however it
    seems like the product is in it's early development stage ...
    what's up with that?! So many unanswered complaints from people are

    I've had the same issue, under Windows 2000, Word 2000, and

    Printing out via the

  • PDF to FlashPaper - disappearing commas

    I am trying to convert PDFs using the FlashPaper printer

  • PDF vs Flashpaper

    I successfully created a report with the CF report builder.
    The format that I originally used in the <cfreport> tag was
    pdf, but I opted to switch to flashpaper after experiencing how
    long it takes to launch Acrobat. Nor do I like to see the window
    cluttered with all of the Actobat controls. Flashpaper is simpler
    and cleaner for this particular report application.
    The problem I am experiencing is that the report will show up
    in MS IE7 only if I use the pdf format. Mozilla and Opera browsers
    have no problem with the flashpaper format. Anyone have an answer
    to why IE does not handle it? Thanks!

    While Hot Fix 2 was supposed to fix the active controls of IE
    in 7.0.2, there are still instances where IE does not display flash
    correctly.
    Also, how are you pulling data into your report? Via a submit
    form? I do use CFREPORT when doing inventory reports, which we
    generate by filling out a form with all the info we want included
    on the report. Initially we used method=post which seemed to work
    for FireFox, but would not work for IE. So we switched and made
    method=get in the form. This worked for IE and we have used it ever
    since.
    So, how are you generating your reports? Simple database
    query? form submission? Also, have you installed the hot fix for
    7.0.2?

  • FlashPaper painfully slow compared to PDF??

    Does anyone know why FlashPaper is so slow to run when
    compared to the PDF version of this document? There are a lot of
    shapes in the document guess, but it runs so quick in a PDF.
    http://www.urbanelement.com/downloads/flashpaper.zip
    This is only 1 section of about 10 so when i do 300 odd pages
    FlashPaper just crashes the computer. I have tried lots of
    different raster and vector settings when i print from PDF but
    nothing changes except for when i print as an 'image' and this is
    very quick to view but when you zoom out text becomes messy and
    unreadable.
    Anybody got any ideas?
    Cheers
    Malcolm

    Hi
    Unfortunately your report is correct, depending on the game used, which name you don't give : if it's not Universal Binary , the mac runs it through Rosetta (powerpc emulator) resulting in -comparatively- poor performance...That, plus the fact that the ibook doesn't have to cope with shared memory for its graphic card...So in this situation, the theoretical advantage of the new mini on your previous configuration vanishes !
