Flashplayer is not detecting by Firefox // Linux

Hii all. I stuggle with problem of incorrectly working Flash Player a long time. My Firefox don't detect Adobe flash plugin. I did all according to this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keep-flash-up-to-date-and-troubleshoot-problems#w_updating-flash. Flash plugin don't emerge also in Add-ons --> Plugin.
After meanted above unsuccesfully attentions to install firefox, I copied mozilla/plugins from /usr/lib to /usr/lib32 and to /usr/lib64, copied /usr/share/kde4/services/Adobe\ \Flash\ \Player to /usr/share/xfce4 and set anywhere my username by owner instead ROOT. This is not solved my problem :(
Debian 7 x86-64, xfce, Firefox 35.0, flash_player_11_linux.x86_64

Sorry this won't help much. Just posting to encourage you to keep trying by confirming Adobe Flash player may be used with Firefox on Debian.
I am posting from Ubuntu, that will allow Flash Player no problem.
I did until very recently have the Adobe Flash Player working on Debian but at the moment Debian itself needs reinstalling, as it is not working, although that is not one of my priorities.
I don't recall any particular problems with the install.

  • Airport Wireless not detecting network in Linux????

My iBook G4 has a fresh install of kubuntu 7.04 but it seems that my airport extreme card is not detecting ANY wireless networks even though I'm only 8 feet away from the router.
To answer any future questions: yes, I am 100% certain that the wireless works fine, since I am sending this to you on a wireless PC. Also, I have set up the wireless on my other PC's at home using ubuntu & kubuntu linux just fine by entering the WEP key and setting them to hexadecimal with no problems. However, this is obviously my first time setting up linux wireless on a mac Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. I know the ppc version of linux has to work for wireless somehow. Thanks!

I also have ever heard that ubuntu in iBookG4 can not detect the external audio port. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • Upgrading to Firefox 17 on ubuntu linux 10.04 caused my xmodmap remapped keys to not work in Firefox

After upgrading from Firefox 16 (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to Firefox 17 (17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) on 22-November-2012 I no longer can use an xmodmap remapped F key in Firefox. It still works in other gnome programs but pressing the new F key anywhere in Firefox 17 produces no action. I even had to use the gedit program in order to type all this before copying it into the Ask a Question form.
Here is my situation: I use Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS on a circa 2004 Sony Vaio notebook pc. I've been using linux on it dating back to Ubuntu 8.04. When I got the used pc the "F" key on the keyboard was broken off. I programmed the .xmodmaprc file in my home folder to initiate the "Keycode 133 = F" command on startup in order to remap the missing key to the unused Windows Logo key on the lower left of the keyboard. This has worked flawlessly for over four years. In all prior versions of Firefox going back to whatever version was included in Ubuntu 8.04 I have had no trouble using this key through all Firefox upgrades until now.
On the morning of 22-Nov-2012 the Update Manager notified me of an upgrade to the following packages as shown in the history log of Synaptic Package Manager:
Commit Log for Thu Nov 22 09:20:16 2012
    Upgraded the following packages:
    firefox (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
    firefox-branding (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
    firefox-gnome-support (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
    firefox-locale-en (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
    ubufox (2.1.1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 2.6-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
    xul-ext-ubufox (2.1.1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) to 2.6-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
After performing the upgrade and restarting Firefox I noticed I was no longer able to use my remapped F key at all. I checked other programs and it worked OK so I know it's a Firefox 17 problem only. I tried reinstalling all the packages again with no results. I even went so far as to perform a Reset Firefox in Help-->Troubleshooting Information to try and get it working. All this ended up doing was removing all add-on extensions and changing some of my settings in Preferences but I'm not positive of any changes beyond the Location Bar setting in Privacy changing from Nothing to History and proxy setting going from No to Auto-Detect.
The only solution that has worked to fix this problem is uninstalling Firefox 17 and reinstalling Firefox 16 using a downloaded firefox_16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1_i386.deb file from Ubuntu as Firefox 16 no longer shows up in the main repository since 22-November-2012. The only versions available for a Force Version in Synaptic are 3.6 and 17 now. After downgrading only the firefox package shows version 16.0.2, all other components I listed above stayed at version 17. I don't know if this will cause any other problems but so far nothing bad has happened.
After I submit this question I will be downgrading again to Firefox 16 until this problem can be solved.
Edit: noted the following Language Packs were disabled on restart after downgrading to Firefox 16 again:
    English (GB) Language Pack 17.0
English (South Africa) Language Pack 17.0
If my memory is correct I only remember having an English (GB) Language Pack in all prior versions of Firefox. Firefox 17 was the first time I noticed a English (South Africa) Language Pack installed. It's possible the problem with xmodmap keys not functioning in Firefox 17 could be related to something in these two packs.

Ok I tested a bunch of different Firefoxes on my pos linux box.
    '''''Worked with xmodmap:'''''
    Vanilla 16.0.2,
    Vanilla 16.0B6,
    Ubuntu Firefox 16.0.2 (16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1)
    '''''Did Not Work with xmodmap:'''''
    Vanilla 17.0.1,
    Ubuntu Firefox 17.0.1 (17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.10.04.1)
I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 I plan to use as a replacement for the Sony Vaio when it pops. I've held out as long as possible because it lacks a pci or usb wifi and I really didn't want to run 50 feet of cat5 up a flight of stairs to it. [as i type this i think i remember where a linksys stick for it might be]. Yes I guess it's about time I just do that.
Don't laugh but the reason I held off adding a simple usb keyboard was just lack of space in my tiny bedroom. My setup is on two tray tables side-by-side. Sony Vaio is on left one, my lcd monitor and mouse are on the other. I barely have room to put a cup of coffee on the one with monitor and mouse let alone a full size usb keyboard lol.
Anyway thank you again for all your help.

  • Firefox not detecting Plug-in updates

When I go to Add-ons > Plug-ins > Check for updates, Firefox 4 tells me "No updates found."
I know this is clearly not true as I have the Adobe reader plug-in that was last updated in 2007, and going to the Mozilla Plug-in check page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/) gives me a whole big list on almost every single one of my plug-ins. Why is Firefox not detecting updates?

Plugins are used from the Operating System, but Firefox often attempts to show them and to check them.
#First of all use the firefox menu to ensure your plugins are all enabled.
    # then use [/plugincheck]<br/> that will sometimes show an old Java as disabled for safety reasons, but then includes an update link <br/> note the page scrolls and provides general information and further instructions
Presumably you already have a firewall and other security software, you may need to check whether they block downloads or updates.

  • Adobe flashplayer not working with firefox

I have downloaded the latest adobe flashplayer plugin but it is not working with Firefox. It does work on Internet Explorer.

I'm running Vista 64 bit and the current version of Flash (11. whatever) doesn't apparently work with Vista 64 bit - why, I'm not sure but this is what happens when one company dominates the market like Adobe. Anyway, I have the 10. whatever version installed now and Flash is working in Chrome and in IE. This problem occurred because I updated Firefox to version 8, after which Flash was still working with the old version installed. THEN I got the annoyingly repetitive reminder from Adobe to update Flash to 11 and finally succumbed. After updating Flash, I could no longer get sound from any online videos. So I uninstalled, found a 10. version of Flash and figured that would solve the problem since Firefox 8 WAS working before using the 10. version. Not to be. Now I can't get it to work at all. And to tell you the truth I like the old interface of Firefox 7 much better anyway. SO... how do I get 7 back and hopefully resolve this problem so that I don't have to make IE my new browser - which I'm not too crazy to do since I've been using Firefox from day 1...

  • Firefox is not detecting Java plugin

A few weeks ago I installed updates and updated to Firefox 3.6.13 on OpenSuse 11.1 (yeah, I know, I should upgrade, but I'm lazy). No more Java functionality for me. So I installed a new version. I followed all of the instructions on this page (I've tried both from the RPM and the self-extracting file and get the same results either way): http://java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml but I got nothing. Next I tried this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/manual-plugin-install-linux-136395.html The /firefox/plugins folder (which I should note I have installed in my home directory) shows the symbolic link. Still not registering in Firefox, at all. When I go to about:plugins, I'm not seeing anything about JRE.
At this point I'm at a loss. I'm ashamed to admit that as long as I've been using Linux, I still know very little about it as I only use the very basic functions on my machine (email, internet, office applications; no need for much other than that). But I've never run up against this problem before, and I'm not sure what I'm missing here about what I did wrong. I have this sneaking suspicion it's something simple, but...
    thanks!

Make sure that you create a symlink to the Java JP2 plugin (libnpjp2.so) that current Firefox version need.

  • IPod 4th gen grayscale will not detect usb connection.

Hello everyone, I have a iPod 4th gen grayscale and I'm running Ubuntu, everything has worked well for about a year now, I have been syncing my iPod through VirtualBox with Windows XP for as long as I have been using Linux, though, for some reason, my iPod has stopped noticing my usb being connected, I know it's not the usb cable, or the usb ports, I have restarted my iPod and put it into disk mode, still no luck, restarted my computer, Linux will not detect anything plugged in, nor will Windows, though my iPod shows the battery charging when plugged in, but iTunes will not detect the iPod.
I have switched the hard drive of the iPod out seeing if that was the problem, still no luck, my car dock will pick up the iPod and play music, so will my other docks, I thought it might of been Linux at first, so I plugged it into my desktop with Vista, it also will not detect it.
Does anyone have an answer to this riddle?

A bad USB hub will cause the problem ... are you using it ??

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.262 Not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.

*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
    Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
    The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
    - Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
    - Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
    Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)
