Flatfile source system

Hi,
We intend to change all our flatfile source system name from BDFLATFIL,BQFLATFIL to just "Flatfile" in dev, Qa and prod.Does anybody see a problem with that?

You can do it using transaction
BDLS.
first do test run then check log and do actual run.
No there is no issues as such ,just you be care ful about transfer rule/transforamation and datasources..etc.

BI Content transfer to Flatfile Source System

Hi
How can we transfer standard business content for source system file. We are not able to view some standard contents ( both BW 3.x or BI 7.0) eg. 0CONSUMER_ATTR to activate from the business content. The same is available for R3 Source System but not for the source system as a flat file. But some datasources for eg. 2LIS_13_VDITM can be viewed in the standard business content and can be installed and activated , no luck for 0CONSUMER_ATTR datasource. Any one has idea how to transfer missing contents for a source system file.?

Solved ourselves. We already had one flat file data source. The problem was that we were not able to install the 3.x datasource for 0CONSUMER with the existing file DS because it was showing that 0CONSUMER_ATTR already exists in D version. What we did is to create another Source system for file and then installed the above mentioned DS.

How to create DataSource for FlatFile Source Systems

I am practicing BI7.I am familiar with BW 3.5 but while practicing BI7 i am facing some problems.I am trying to load master data of an infoobject (STUDENTID) STUDENTID ATTR.
After creating Appl Comp and when i am trying to create transformations for the master data attribute i am unable to assign data source.I came to know that i have to create datsource at this step.But dont know how to create datasource for FlatFiles.
Can anyone give me stpes how to create DataSource.

Error while assigning source system to SAP Remote cube

I need to do a query using remote cube and the source sys is flat file.
it wont let me assign the source system to the remote cube.
the r/3 system icon is seen next to the remote cube technical name...
I can't see my flatfile source system
can somebody help me.

I don't think its possible to use Remote cubes for PC_FILE or FLAT FILE as Source system.
You can use Virtual Providers in these different scenarios
Virtual Providers based on DTP => used for SAP source systems
Virtual Providers based on BAPI => used for non-SAP or external systems
Virtual Providers bsaed on Function modules => You use this VirtualProvider if you want to display data from non-BI data sources in BI without having to copy the dataset into the BI structures. The data can be local or remote. You can also use your own calculations to change the data before it is passed to the OLAP processor. This function is used primarily in the SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) application.
Use InfoObects as Virtual Providers
Your case is none of these.

How r u ?
Check the Technical name for the FLATFILE Source System in the DEV system & QC System. If this is different then u may have to change the Source System Assignment.
As we know the DataSource & InfoSource name is same.
If both are same, then Right click the FlatFile Source System and select Activate.

Conversion of source system names

Hello Experts,
After having some transport problem (transporting infopackages), I notice that the source system mapping is not the same in DEV compared to PRD.
Other than change log which was not turned on, is there any other way I can find out who or when was the last change to this mapping table?
Am I right to say the mapping entries should exist in all systems? My DEV currently only has 1 entry compared to 6 entries in QAS and PRD.
The source system underwhich the infopackage resides is not shown in the DEV source system mapping table.
Is this the cause of my transport problem?

Am I right to say that mapping in target system cannot be transported and is set directly in target system QAS, PRD via RSA1 and no mapping is required even if there are other source systems, like flat file source systems, when the source system name is to be the same in all systems? In this case, my source system is a flatfile. Does this mean I need not maintain it? The 'no mapping' warning received in transport log shows that the flatfile source system concerned exists in the target system but no mapping. As I do not need source system name change, can I say I need not maintain in the mapping table? I still cannot understand why the error come about.

Go to BDLS TCode there you find Convertion of Logical Systems names.
Give the OLd Source system and the new which needs to be updated.

Source system for FLATFILE

When I right click on the source system FLATFILE, I don't see the 'Replicate datasources' option. Would this be a problem because I am getting an error on the transports:
No mapping defined for source system FLATFILE
When transporting InfoPackages the name of the source system is also transferred. As these names do not normally agree with one another in the test and productive systems a name replacement can be defined in table RSLOGSYSMAP using the view maintenance (transaction SM30).

There will be no option of replicating datasouces to flat file Datasource because
we will be first copying the flat files which are in the form of excel basically to our
BW system and then we directly get those files by browsing the files while creating the data source for flat file from the BW system itself.
We will get the option,replicte Data sources when we are loading data from the sap source systems,db connect and ud connect.

Get Error in source system when loading flatfile from application server

Hi
I'm loading data from flatfiles on the application server. In the datasource if I display the sample data. It shows fine.
But when I execute the infopackage I get an error when it is loading the data to PSA.
The error is
Error in source system
Message no. RSM340
There is no further information
But if I load from my machine it works fine.

As you can view display the sample data. It shows fine.
It mean there is no issues in BW (File path is correct, Data in Flat file is correct).
Then definetely its with the source system, which is resisting to pass IDOC to BW.
Now.we need to know the its problem with File on App serv or App serv itself?
Just check trying to Load another Flatfile in App serv.

How can i create source system in BI

Hi gurus,
I am using BI 7.0, its SRM addon.
in that i used source sytem sub functional for creating flatfile.
there i got folder like BI, SAP, EXTERNAL SYSTEM, FILE, DB CONNECT, UD CONNECT, WEBSERVICE.
so i trying to create PC souce sytem by right click on FILE folder,
it popups window with
Logical system nae---i have given current client
type and release---What is that?? which one i have to select...it shows as ORA, TLF, XPD.
I dont know for flat file source sytem why they are asking the above stuff, even we select ORA it shows error as "source system has same name as BI"
pls hep me out on creation of the source system'
pls reply as early as possible

For that I have created infoObjects, insource with those objects, and infocube.
now how can i give the connections in between them like as 3.X, let me know with steps for loading Master and transaction data to Cube.

Assign Source System to Source System ID

Hello Experts,
I am loading master data from flat file (which is an export from another BI system Info Object) in which one of the attribute is SourceSytem ID (0SOURSYSTEM). But in the flat file some of the records for this particular attribute are blank and some are with R3. So the records which are without any sourcesystem ID are not getting loaded.
Error is as follows: No source system ID exists for source system (logical system) FLAT_FILE.
Detail Error: Procdure: Assign source system ID to logical source system FLAT FILE. To do this go to TOOLS--> Assign source system to source system ID from main menu of DWB.
Can anyone tell me what exactly I need to give at this place. Any two digit char or do I need to contact basis to follow any specification?

What exactly does this attribute does while reporting?
Usually if you have 2 source system then this attribute is used to differentiate between to source systems. You have to use this is report to restrict to particular source system
I am assuming it will just differentiates the data that we loaded either from R/3 or FF or something else. Is that right?

Everything is based on reporting. Mostly you will use this when you are having two source systems. Ex: ECC and CRM for 0BPARTNER info object

Merge a hierachy in BW when it is uploaded from 2 source systems

Hello everybody,
I want to upload the same hierarchy from 2 different source systems and I want to merge both hierarchies in 1 hierarchy in BW.
I will explain a bit more:
In system A there exist a hierarchy on 0cust_sales and in system B the same hierarchy exist for 0cust_sales. We can be sure that in system A the hierarchy that exists there is the main hierarchy.

I already tried to upload it with the option insert hierarchy but BW just overwrites the hierarchy always.
I started to write an abap but then I also have to maintain the SID tables also and that seamed to me a bit too tricky.
Does somebody did this before or does somebody have idea¡¦s to solve this problem. My last resort is downloading both hierarchies in flatfiles and trying to merge then in the flatfiles.
All suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance.

Hi Jeroen,
We have had this issue and we solved it in two ways .
If the nodes are different from the earlier hierarchy A, then you can insert the second hierachy as a node of the first one. In the infopackage, rename the hierarchy to the same name and set the radio button as update node.
If the nodes have to be reshuffled, only in that case will you need to download them, realign and then upload them.

3. In the right pane, right click on Source Systems and say "Create".
4. Then choose the option of "FlatFile" from the available options.
5. Give the name to Source system.

There is no PSA for InfoSource ZOUTNBR_TEXT_CC and source system PCFILE

Hi All
The above subject line shows the error.
I have a custome data source in Development that is ZOUTNBR_TEXT which has a source system PC file.(flatfiles)
when i transported all transfer structures and data sources from Development to Quality, only my transfer rules were not activated. but when i manually activated in Quality it throws with an error
There is no PSA for InfoSource ZOUTNBR_TEXT_CC and source system PCFILE
Please let me know how can i activate my transfer rules.

Hi,
We also faced the same issue while transporting from dev to QA. We raised a OSS, for which SAP has replied saying that there was some inconsistencies with the infosource and they have repaired the same in debugging mode. The root-cause for the issue is unknown. So they have not given any notes to us.
But meanwhile we created a new data source and transported it. that worked fine.
