Flattening Dynamic pdf with .xdp fragment

Hello,
I'm having problems, flattening merged dynamic pdf's , that have fragments from a source .xdp file, if i set default values inside the xdp, it shows up. They are generated inside the .xdp with some javascript code. They show up in the dynamic version, but they are gone in the static version, Anyone knows a solution for this?
Thanks in advance.

Was the form you are trying to import this data to created with LiveCycle Designer?
I would fill in the form then export the data to XDP and see what the differences are.

  • HELP ME PLEASE !!! dynamic pdf with table grows each time it's saved and reopened??? HELP PLEASE !

    Hi, I hope someone can help me. I created a form (dynamic pdf) with Livecycle ES 8.2.
    This document has a table in which rows are added when the user clicks on a button.
    The document in design stage takes up no more than 1/2 an A4. Here are my two problems;
    1. When the document is opened in Reader (9.3) it is all formatted correctly accept the one row, in it's default state (which can be added to by clicking button) is now three rows????
    2. Whether the two extra rows are deleted or filled in or whether more rows are added and filled in, if the document is saved and opened again with reader it has grown to a full page (of empty default rows). If saved again, it grows to 4 pages and so on.
    Can somebody please help me. I can supply a copy of my file if necessary.
    I don't know if this makes a difference, but the document is protected with a password to open in Livecycle and it also has user rights assigned for the user to be able to save a copy on their local machine (not just allowed to fill out and print).
    My email is [email protected]
    Would appreciate any help that can be offered. My document is ready (accept for this issue) for me to use in my job.
    Regards
    Bradd

    Bradd,
    Please forward the form and I can take a look. If you want to forward a version of the form that is not password protected or send the password in a separate email, that is up to you.

  • Problem flattening dynamic PDF

    Hi all,
    we have a problem: we created a form using the designer and then we merge it with xml data. The output is a little pdf file (about 300kb) that take about 400MB of memory to be opened by acrobat reader.
    I supposed that the reason is that the merging between data and layout is made dinamically by acrobat reader.
    Am I right?
    So, we try to flatten the PDF server-side to avoid client side merging but it doesn't work:
    - if I try to use OutputService/transformPDF the process doesn't produce any error... it simply doesn't do anything... no pdf output, no error, no stalled process in the adminui... just this line of log
    "2008-05-20 16:40:10,500 INFO [com.adobe.formServer.FormServer] ALC-FRM-001-501: FormName:6474897e6c92f44172d0f02e8e86bfd7 : FormPreference:PDFA : Debug:false : PDFVersion:null : Content Root:C:\temp\AdobeDocumentStorage\local\docm1211288446656 : Base URL:null : App Root:null : User Agent:null" and then nothing...
    - if I try to use ConvertPDFService/toPS it raise an exception telling me that it needs a flattened PDF as input
    "2008-05-20 16:51:20,500 ERROR [com.adobe.livecycle.convertpdfservice.exception.ConvertPdfException] ALC-CNP-001-304: Input Document is not a flattened PDF Document"
    Any help?

    Bryan,<br /><br />We solved this issue by removing <acrobat> tag in xml source for xdp file.

  • Flatten Dynamic pdf Files

    Hi,
    I have a dynamic pdf file where users complete text fields, drop down lists and image fields. I also have lock all fields button script that I found in this forum to lock all form fields once user completes it. I was wondering is there a way to save or produce a flat static pdf file in the end? Sometime the dynamic form can increase in size due to the size of image inside the image field. So is there a way to flatten all its contents in the end and produce a smaller copy of that file? This way any user even with old version of adobe reader can open it  since its no longer a dynamic form.
    I know sometimes I can do it by printing it as an "adobe pdf" file but it does not allow me when have the permissions set-up. I dont want to give full access too. What permissions do I need to change to enable this? Is there another way to flatten a dynamic file in the end? Has anyone done this?

    Thanks radzmar...sorry it took me awhile to get back to you.
    This is were I have a problem. Since these LC forms are password protected with a permission pwd to prevent the form from being edited, I am unable to print this form to PDF. It gives out the following message:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
    Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
    %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
    %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    I am guessing that above message is displayed since the document is restricted from being changed. So is there a way to allow a pdf printing with the permission password enabled?
    Alternatively, I thought another way to flatten pdfs might be to save the pdf file as jpeg image or any image file. But that doesn't work when the permission pwd is enabled as well since it shows the message "Insufficient permissions for image extraction". So whats the solution in this case? what are my options to flatten the pdf files in the end when the permission password is enabled?

  • LiveCycle designer V7: Dynamic PDF with QR-Code barcode

    I want to include QR-Code barcode into my forms.
    When I try it, I only see a greyed area.
    Online product help, give us the supported barcode format.
    For QR-Code, I can read "hardware-rendered", could you please explain to me the signification? What do I need to effectly include QR-Code barcode into my dynamic PDF forms.
    Thank you for your help.

    I have read that some bar codes need to be printed by specific printers and those will show up as gray on screen. Code QR is a hardware barcode and is only supported by specific printers. (according to the help file) if you want to see the code on the page you may want to try PDF 417, another 2D barcode, which can hold up to 1800 ASCII characters.

  • Flattening a PDF with Siganture Field

    Hi,
    I have dynamic XML form, which has 2 signature fields. In my process I flatten the document using transformPDF. But if one of the signature fields are signed then, the PDF cannot be viewed in Acrobat.
    I logged the PDF properties of both below.
    Signed PDF's properties after flattening:
    isPDFDocument=true isPDFPackage=null PDFVersion=1.7 hasAttachments=null hasComments=false requiredAcrobatVersion=8.0 formType=NotAForm isAcroForm=false isFillableForm=false isXFADocument=false XFAVersion=null
    Empty PDF's properties after flattening:
    isPDFDocument=true isPDFPackage=null PDFVersion=1.7 hasAttachments=null hasComments=false requiredAcrobatVersion=8.0 formType=NotAForm isAcroForm=false isFillableForm=false isXFADocument=false XFAVersion=null
    What is the reason for this difference?
    Thanks

    The text associated with a Sticky Note or any other icon-based markup (e.g. a stamp) is not part of the page layout, and by default is positioned off to the side of the page when viewed. The only thing remaining after the page is flattened is the icon, because that's all there was to begin with.
    If you want something that stays on the page when flattened you have to use the text-box markup tool instead. You can create a comment summary report from the Comments Panel menu, but that's pretty much it.

  • Populating Existing PDF with XDP data

    I have a fill-in PDF that, in years past, used a simple XFDF file to populate. Using VS.NET 2010 I read in the XFDF document and populate all the necessary information and populate the PDF using ds.WriteXML(XFDFName). The PDF gets populated and it gets displayed in a simple WinForm app. This has worked like a champ for a few years now. Until now...
    This year, the problem I have run into is I was unable to export the data to an XFDF format due to the file having been created in Adobe LiveCycle. I noticed that the export options were either (1) XML or (2) XDP. In the past I'd been able to export to XFDF. No big deal I thought, just another format. However, I have been struggling with both of these options. After some deliberating I decided to use the XDP format.
    I have the dataset built with all of the information I need, I am receiving an error when opening the newly created XDP using Process.Start(XDPName). Reader opens and I am greeted with the following error: "Adobe Reader could not open 'GUID_HERE.xdp' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
    I tried using a straight up href to the PDF (<pdf href="FillMeIn.pdf" xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/pdf/">), but opted to stick the PDF in the XDP in the <chunk> section.
    This XDP file looks like this (thanks stack overflow):
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <?xfa generator='AdobeDesigner_V7.0' APIVersion='2.2.4333.0'?>
    <xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp='http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/'>
        <xfa:datasets xmlns:xfa='http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/'>
            <xfa:data>
                   XML is here - matching the dynamic fields in the PDF.
            </xfa:data>
        </xfa:datasets>
        <pdf xmlns=\"http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/pdf/\"><document>
           <chunk>
                        Base64 encoded PDF.
            </chunk>
        </document></pdf>
    </xdp:xdp>
    I would think the XDP I'm generating is bogus - but to further complicate things - if I open Reader click Tools > Forms > More Form Options > Manage Form Data > Import Data and choose the XDP file that I've generated, all the fields are populated as I expect them to be.
    So basically, there is obviously a disconnect somewhere. I have a XDP file with all the information in it I need. I have a PDF form that I need to populate with the XDP. But when I fire up the XDP Reader is telling me it's broken/not supported. As I understand it, when you launch an XDP file it should properly launch/populate using Reader, correct?
    Any information would help me out immensely. Thanks.

    Was the form you are trying to import this data to created with LiveCycle Designer?
    I would fill in the form then export the data to XDP and see what the differences are.

  • Dynamic PDFs with Digital Signatures?

    LCD 9 – Acrobat 9 standard/Pro
    Looking for the definitive answer on this one.  My PDFs have a need to be both dynamic and use multiple digital signatures.  For now I design as static with multi dig sig and deal with break-out forms and such via a portfolio.
    It would be nice if I could design a form that has both flowable sections (think dynamically added rows in a table using script, or even simple textfields that expand as you fill them up via flowed content areas) and these digital signatures.  As soon as I make that PDF dynamic the signatures are immediately invalidated as the form shows changes.
    Is there any workaround to this?  Some of the process I have to design for need flowed fields, and all require digital signatures on the form.  We use Entrust as the security for dig sig - and that will not change so cannot use any inherent Adobe signature security methods.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
    Yes, the file was created for Acrobat 10, but other than the warning you see on file open it will behave the same way in 9.x as it does in 10. However that said, you don't want to look at the file in Acrobat because you can't edit it or see the layout there. You need to view the file in LiveCycle Designer which gets installed along with Acrobat, and when you do get the file open in Designer it won't complain. Once you get the file open in Acrobat select the Forms > Edit Form in Designer menu item and that's where you can see the properties used to get page flow to work.
    I've attached another copy without any data that won't complain when you open it in Acrobat. It is for all intents and purposes the same file, the only reason there are fewer pages is due to the lack of data in the table.

  • Haw to create dynamic PDF with dynamic flowing tables across pages?

    Hi!
    Sorry for my english, I use it very rarely
    I try creating PDF form with many tables (example document: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BxTpZtaOkLBbcEJzdGJFcXVSWDJ0RlladUZJd1hMZw). But, when the table or any element hit the bottom of page, they just flow over it. Also in designer elements don't distribute across pages but just disappear on first page bottom. I want to dynamically distribute elements across pages. What I do incorrect?

  • Reader XI "save" button creates "save as"-dialog in a dynamic PDF

    I made a dynamic PDF with LCD ES4. Sometimes it occurs that a "save as"-dialog appears though I pushed the "save"-button. I am using Reader XI 11.0.07 on a Windows 7 Pro system. Suggestions?

    This don't seems to be a problem of the form.
    It's more likely that Readers save operation fails because the file is used by another process (Exploerers preview pane for example) or there are no rights to save into the current directory.

  • Dynamic pdf created in adobe 8 not working in Adobe reader 9

    Hi ,
    I designed dynamic pdf using Adobe 8 livecylce.
    I am able to generate the dynamic pdf with values filled in from the database in Adobe 8 reader,standard and professional versions.
    I recently installed Adobe 9 reader and when I try to generate the dynamic pdf , the pdf if generated but the values of the fields comes as null.
    Is dynamic pdfs created in 8 not compatable with adobe 9 reader? Do I need to redesign the documents in 9 again ?
    Please let me know, I designed a lot of pdf documents using 8 livecycle under the assumption that it is going to work in future versions.
    Thanks,
    Vidya

    Hi,
    I figured our there was a setting to enable/disable  Javascript which caused this issue.
    I was using javascript in the LC 8 for manipulations in the dynamic pdfs.
    I enabled the javascript and now it is working fine.

  • Save dynamic PDF as flattened or read only

    I finished filling a form, which is a dynamic PDF. Now that I'm done filling it out, I want to save it as a regular PDF, where the fields cannot be edited, and anyone can open it without needing a special version of adobe (basically just a regular PDF viewer), since it's easier to email, and anyone can open it without a problem. Can this be done?
    I have a MacBook Pro, with Yosemite OS.
    Thanks guys

    Do you understand what "flattening" a PDF does?
    It converts fields and annotations content into the context of the PDF and removes the form fields and annotations and they cannot be recovered to their original objects.
    I would look at making the fields read only and using a digital signature to disclose if the PDF has been changed after the signature has been applied.

  • Flatten PDF with Attachments

    Hi,
    I,
    1. render a xdp in browser (via servlet)
    2. fill out the form, attach some files
    3. submit the form as PDF (via servlet)
    4. launch a process that flattens the PDF file
    the flattened PDF doesn't include attachments no more, it was lost durning the Output/transform Qpac. (if I don't apply the flattening, I am able to see the attachments)
    How do I keep attachments in flattened pdf?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can achieve this with help of assembler service (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/Services/WS92d06802c76abadb712193f912dbeb3c6db- 8000.html)
    This link will help you in creating a DDX to do the same (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/ddxRef.pdf)
    Jump to Section 'Attaching files to a PDF document'. Hope this helps.
    These documentation is from ES3 version.
    Similar documentation is present for other versions of LiveCycle too.

  • Has the issue with font licences and embedding fonts in a dynamic PDF been solved?

    Hi all,
    Can I check if this issue has been fixed in LiveCycle yet please?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3724557
    Issue is that although LC lets you specify what typeface should be used for the caption/value in a form, it cannot discern the corresponding licencing requirements.
    So in the case where even though a particular font isn’t used for any editable information – being set as the caption only – LC requires a font permitting embedding for editing, otherwise the font is not embedded at all and therefore is substituted for another typeface on a system where the font isn’t available.
    Seems LC needs it's embedding requirements to catch up with the usage of type in a dynamic PDF, as in cases where the fonts bundled with Reader or system fonts aren't suitable, such as when a visual standard needs to be met, the user may not be overly keen on paying a significant financial penalty for editable font licences.
    Thanks
    James

    Hi James,
    I don't think that it the case at all. If the font has a license for enbedding then that is what happens:
    I accept that some fonts come with expensive "embedding for editing" licenses, but Adobe's implementation is in line with the font industry's expectations.
    I don't think this is a "bug" that will be fixed.

  • Problems with dynamic PDF display in reader 8.1.0

    I have created a dynamic PDF Form having 30 text fields in a row. All these fields are bounded to XSD. The design is like, a row of fields display a single user informations. When I import a XML with 100 user informations, then my PDF crashes. If I import a XML with 50 user informations, then it works fine. Anything beyond that count causes the PDF to close automatically. I believe, its the number of fields which causes the problem. I may be wrong.
    I also needs to enter 100 user informations by adding rows one by one. The PDF becomes very slower when I add beyond 35th row. I'm using Livecycle designer 8.0 for designing dynamic PDFs and using Adobe reader 8.1.0 for viewing.
