Burning flaw in iTunes 10

Since installing iTunes 10, I'm getting flawed burns. The burn process completes successfully, and CDs (or some) will play in the computer or in the car, but NOT ONE will play in my Sony ES player that has played iTunes-burned discs without a hitch for several years. Anyone else having a similar problem?

I am having the same problem with iTunes 10. I have never had a problem with burning until I upgraded.
Here is what I am seeing. I selected 4 tracks from a playlist and finally found the "burn to CD" command (where did the button go!?!?). While burning, all but the first two checked tracks were grayed out. It burned the first two tracks on one CD then popped it out and asked me to insert another CD. When I did it burned the first 2 tracks all over again. It did this 2 more times before I gave up.
When I tried to play the CDs in my macbook pro they didn't work.
I tried again and saw the same behavior again. What gives?

Major flaw in iTunes 10!

Imagine my chagrin when I went to play the Beatles "Let It Be" in the original order and found out I'd have to have the original order written down somewhere and the play the songs one at a time! There's no option anywhere to put the songs in the original order. Bummer!
I've forgotten where I'm supposed to go to request a feature such as this from Apple. Can anyone tell me what the URL is? I definitely would like to suggest they add this feature to Apple, though I doubt I'll see it for a long time, if ever. Can't hurt to ask though, can it?

iTunes will let you show or hide various fields and sort by them. Nothing needs to be written down, it just needs to be visible if you want to sort on it. Many of the fields that you can sort on, such as track name, result in something other than the original track order.
In Cover Flow, for example, make sure Album is visible and click on it to sort as *Album, Album by Artist* or *Album by Artist/Year*. Tracks will play in order.

There are a number of reports in various forums that Megakey is not compatible with 'iTunes Mobile Device'" one suggests that it is using the same port. The only solution is to uni stall Megakey.

Stupid sync flaw on iTunes/iPhone (maybe iPod Touch too)

I rip my DVD collection a lot and add the files to iTunes. When a movie has a long name you can't see it full in your iPhone, that's why i usually name each episode of series as Episode 01, Episode 02 (instead of FULL NAME OF THE MOVIE - EPISODE NUMBER)... and so on. Just to make it easier to select them for playing on iPhone.
The problem is that i have several movie series in my iTunes, and all episodes of these series appear sorted *by name* in my iPhone sync window, i.e. i see only a bunch of Episode names sorted by index number, and nothing else to identify which series they belong to, so i can't see which ones i need to check to sync with my iPhone.
It's more of a suggestion for Apple:
*Add ARTIST column to the iPhone sync Movies window in iTunes.*
Exactly - ARTIST, and not Album/Series name (which is more appropriate for Movies) - this is the second field you can see in iPhone, under the Name - put a Series name and its index number into this field.
I can provide screenshots of both iPhone and iTunes for this problem.

But still it would be nice to be able to check specific episodes i want to sync (clickable boxes next to each episode), not just Apple's 1-3-5-10 most recent/least recent/watched/unwatched options... Don't you think?
In fact, i don't understand why Apple didn't make a separate iPod/iPhone column in Library where you could check/uncheck files you want/don't want to sync. why does it have to be in iPod/iPhone window. I mean i understand why calendars, contacts, e-mails have to be where they are in iTunes, but since you already have Music, Movies, Podcasts and so on in your Library, what's the point of this visual separation...

ITunes 11 Stops Responding to Bonjour Discovery Multicast Broadcasts, Why? This stops the the Apple TV 3 from being able to start a new stream from the home share and the iPad remote app can no longer see the home share too.

I'm having an issue where my Apple TV 3 and all our iPads periodically seem to loose connectivity to an iTunes home share on a Windows 7 PC. Using a network protocol analyser on the PC I have identified that the point of failure corresponds to the ATV3 sending a bonjour discovery request and getting no reply from iTunes. Why the ATV3 'forgets' where the home share is is possibly another issue but the root cause of the failure is that iTunes, or more specifically the mDNSResponder service, is not responding to the UDP multicast port 5353 broadcast discovery packet sent by the ATV3 or iPad. The mDNSResponder service does start responding again after iTunes is restarted thus making the home share accessible once more, however, this frequent drop out is unacceptable and often happens after only a single TV show has been watched from the home share making the solution unworkable for a family, we simply cannot be restarting iTunes constantly it ruins the user experience completely!
The nature of this failure indicates that the ATV3, the iPads, the host PC and network are all working correctly and the point of failure here is the lack of response to the bonjour discovery protocol with the net result of either a spinning 'connecting to home share' message or the home share just disappearing from the computers section.
If there is a configuration fix for this please let me know as I haven't located a fix! Otherwise this seems very much to be a code flaw in iTunes 11 or the mDNSResponder and I would appreciate some input from Apple! Going on other questions in these forums it would seem the problem is not limited to Windows PCs but also Macs too. NB: This is not a TCP issue, when the ATV3 or iPad knows the IP of the iTunes server all works flawlessly, it just periodically they seem to refresh the list of home shares and at this point they loose the information about the home share they have just been using because of the non-response to the UDP multicast discovery broadcast packet, that is arriving at the host PC and isn't being blocked by the firewall.

In my case there was no import from a former mac.
My problem (at least mine) is that no app that offers media sharing works properly. Neither itunes home sharing nor AirVideo nor EyeTV sharing.
So I'm pretty sure that this is network issue.
Adding another user on my mac and sharing a new library works not also. But sharing from another laptop in my WiFi works. So this has to be a network issue on my mac, not only my user, but an issue of the whole system.
But I'm not willing to reinstall MacOS X for that if I don't have to.

Itunes on Windows Vista with SATA Intel Raid Matrix, BLUE SCREEN!

If I wasn't an IT Administrator this problem could've really upset me. I might have perceived your software crashed my hard drives. At least I had the knowledge to know how to re-detect my raid array and get things going; but for a moment i was worried too.
Issue: I have the known problem between APPLE's QUICKTIME and how it negates disk issues with Windows Vista; specifically for those using a RAID ARRAY.
Immediately upon loading the itunes or quicktime program, I lock-up. I sometimes get a bluescreen sometimes it just locks up. I always get a warning about my RAID array when this happens; either having to power down and re-detect the members of the array or the manager says bad disk/write to one of the members.
I must power down and power-up to regain function to my computer.
Intel says this is an apple problem and this doesn't shock me; because Itunes/Quicktime has some interesting disk stuff.

I have the known problem between Intel's RAID manager and Apple's Quicktime/Itunes. Immediately upon loading the itunes or quicktime program, I lock-up. I sometimes get a bluescreen sometimes it just locks up.
I must powerdown and power-up to regain function to my computer. All the message boards say install the latest version. The latest version is not supported by my chipset, so I'm stuck at version 7.

I sent some inquiry to Intel regarding my RAID array and apples software. I hope apple considers their windows customers diligently; otherwise they will start to make the same arrogant mistakes other companies have made; like Microsoft.

I would just like to report that I am NOT experiencing the problem you describe. With my configuration (some details below) I can play video podcasts and listen to music in iTunes; I do not get a blue screen. My only issue is choppiness in the video playback (occasional frames dropped / occasional lack of synchronization between audio & video).

- Pentium 4 D920 CPU (2.8 GHz dual core)
- Intel Matrix Storage Manager (IMSM) 7.8.0.1012 (November 2007 version)

In reviewing your post I am unclear as to what motherboard / chipset you have; you've just shown the model number of the I/O controller (I believe). However, based on that number I believe you're probably running on a motherboard/chipset that has been de-supported by Intel. Hence, you're precluded from using the most recent versions of IMSM. (I have an older machine that has the Intel 875P chipset; I'm stuck running IMSM 5.5.0.1035 on it...)
Newer versions of IMSM support newer features in the latest chipsets and abandon older chipsets; I'm kind of sore at Intel with how quickly the obsoleted my older machine (I think it's only 4 years old).
Anyway, if there is a conflict between iTunes & IMSM, you're probably stuck trying to get it fixed from the Intel side of things. It's probably a flaw in iTunes - complex software - not running in the native Apple environment.

ITunes "organized" my wav files.

I have approximately 2000 wav files on an external hard drive. All the songs were imported using iTunes. Because of hardware issues, the internal HD was reformatted and the OS reinstalled. When I "add(ed them) to library" without "keep iTunes Music folder organized" checked, the songs appeared in the iTunes browser without the artist or album listed. So I checked the "keep iTunes Music folder organized." Well of course iTunes placed all the wav files in a single folder. It appears all album information and artist information was lost. Does anyone have any idea about how I might reorganize the files? Thank You.
This is an obvious flaw in iTunes. Most likely easily correctable. I'm not sure why apple has not taken the time to fix this bug.

What about the nameing of the wav files? Did you originally select "Create file names with track number"?
The problem in you case: while all track information are stored within mp3 + aac files as tags, those information will be store externally and linked to wav + aiff files: reformatting your hd erased that information.

Sort albums by descending year - itunes unable to play album

I prefer my albums to be displayed in itunes with the latest albums first. So I use grid view albums and set 'sort by' to 'descending'.
When i select an album to play it will play the first track but the track numbers are ALSO in descending order and when clicking next it doesn't play the next track. If I go into the album and click next, the album ends because it thinks the first track of the album is the last.
This is because the track numberings are also in descending order.
Why would itunes do this? Why are not these functions mutually exclusive?
This is a major ridiculous flaw in itunes that doens't allow you to play your latest albums in order.
You are forced to have your 1967 classical album at the top of your itunes if you want to play your albums with the track numbers in order and all your latest albums down the bottom.
I'm sure this has been posted before, but any comments, suggestions, feedback from apple themselves, about this problem appreciated.

ITunes 11 problems, can anyone help?

After updating to iTunes 11 today, I was pleased with the speed of the software relative to the older version. However after shutting down my computer and restarting later (and yes, I did close iTunes normally once it had finished doing everything it needed to,) I found that the preferences that I had changed earlier had been forgotten. This included:
1.     Sort Order of playlists/library.
2.     Display of the sidebar, status bar and menu bar had reverted back to not visible.
3.     Newly created smart playlists had been lost
4.     Equaliser preset had also been forgotten
Additionally, has anyone found a way to re-enable the old album artist view in the main library (with the album art), I miss this feature and would like to get it back if possible? I'm also confsued as to why the iCloud status of all of the tracks in my library appears to be stuck on waiting.
As a final note, I'm not using this as an excuse to have a good go at the flaws of iTunes 11, I'm just looking for solutions and to help others who may have experienced the same problems. As you can imagine, having an hour of your time lost isn't the most pleasing thing imagineable! Apart from these issues I think Apple has done a good job of iTunes 11, any help you can provide is much appreciated!

Just for everyone's benefit, I figured out one problem: If you're really keen to have the album art shown in the whole library view, create a smart playlist wiht the following parameters:
Playlist is Music, No limit to set, live updating.
This will take all of the music in your library and put it in this playlist, once you've done this open the playlist, change the view (top right hand corner of the screen) to artist view, and a view similar to the old one will be shown.

ITunes does not recognize password after removal of corrupt backup file

I removed a corrupt backup file of my iPhone 4 from iTunes and now it does not recognize my password anymore. The password is correct, as I wrote it down when I set it up and have used it before. Any thoughts? This must be some kind of flaw in iTunes or iOS for iPhone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried stopping and restarting Apple Mobile Services, Bonjour and iPod services but it had no effect. The problem still remains - everything works for all 3 iPhones immediately after reinstalling iTunes but none of them can connect with any of the USB cables after a reboot. This problem is still present as of upgrading to 10.6.3.25.
BTW, I do have other choices. I can become disenchanted with the product, use it less and less, then eventually migrate over to some competitor's product.

Strange phenomenon with itunes:

Hello, A friend and I both have a computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and itunes 11.2.2.3.
We both have a playlist for Internet Radio "Internet Title". We both entered the same internet radio stations.
I have re-installed on the computer of my acquaintance itunes. Everything from the old version must first be uninstalled and removed. Itunes, Apple Mobile .. Bonjour, common files, etc.
All settings in itunes are identical.
Now the phenomenon. Only in the playlist of Radio stations itunes playing on the computer from my friend each station about 20 seconds and then jumps to the next station and play that station then 20 seconds.
On my computer everything works without any problems.
I've tried everything possible. New playlist ... but same problem. Playlists with purchased music function properly.
I have absolutely no idea where is the cause of the problem on the computer of my acquaintances.
Can someone please help?

I think this is a flaw in iTunes 8.0 or lower. There should be an option to 'rebuild' library like Mail and I I think, iCal, because something obviously gets corrupted between syncs. But, Apple has their plate full so don't look for an update too soon. In the meantime, try performing a manual rebuild. Select all (Edit>Select All) your album art in 'Grid view' Go to Info(File>Get Info) and select the little square checkbox next to the album art place where you would normally drag you art to display it. Important: Check the checkbox as this will delete all you album art. iTunes will ask you if this is what you want to do. It will begin churning away at deletion. You may have to select the album art again after this process and right click on any of the album covers to display context menu. Chose Clear Downloaded Artwork option. This will clear everything. Now, you have to get you artwork back. Simple: Advanced(menu)>Get Album Artwork. Or right click on any album and choose the same option. Note: I'm not responsible for any artwork you lose in this process. Back up your artwork if you don't trust this. I did lose a few of my precious pieces.
Don't forget to sync your ipod now to update it. It should have cleaned up artwork.
Note: Some of the artwork can be 'persistant' That is to say, video art covers or audio book covers may need individual attention to clear. Work between the Info delete and Clear commands.

Itunes erased my iphone songs

it's rediculos that itunes sync led to erasing all my songs in the iphone. This is a real flaw in itunes!
Senuti gave directions to sync, but why cant itunes have a backup of the songs of the iphone, if it had to erase my stuff on the phone

If the music was purchased you can download the music again from your iTunes account. If the music was ripped from CD's you will have to rip the CD's again. If you got the music from your friends contact your friends. Also consider doing backups once in a while.

Little squares instead of text in the store

I upgraded to itune9 this morning, and most of the text in the store, except artists' names, are little squares. the fonts i have are strictly only XP pro and oed fonts. i never had helvetica to delete. like someone on a similar but different thread, i assume it'll get fixed someday if no one with xp can read the store, but i'd like an answer sooner.

On my Vista Ultimate system, I managed to work around the issue by switching the display language back to English instead of French. I have other Windows accounts on the system. Those with French as their display language have the same issue. This is just a workaround: I can't use my system in French and make purchases on iTunes. Their is a flaw in iTunes 9.
I am not sure this is applicable to a Windows XP system which is not multi-lingual from the ground up.
I was very disappointed by Apple's phone support (I have an Apple Care contract for my iPod). The first customer service representative instructed me to completely remove et re-install iTunes. I did it but it didn't solve the issue. When I called back, the second customer service representative was very quick to blame my computer hinting at some plugins that would prevent the correct display of the iTunes Store. I think this is a very poor response to a genuine issue of a customer.

#2.... I would like to be able to choose which networks I view, ( pay for, and support )? What I mean by that is..... can I buy custom programing..... excluding networks I find offensive?

Without warning you will loose all purchased content on the ATV.
This is an uncommon glitch. It happened to me once about a year ago, I have no idea why BUT my content had already synced back to iTunes so it wasn't a problem. Personally the best thing I find is to buy most stuff direct in iTunes then sync to AppleTV, but I use both purchase methods.
So, until they fix this flaw you will be wasting your money
AppleTV is only designed to mirror stuff in iTunes, hence it syncs back purchases to the iTunes library for you to make a proper backup somehwere.
Apple could really make a huge goodwill gesture to users and allow them to re-download any purchases in the future if files were lost/corrupted - it's not as if anyone's going to waste their bandwidth downloading things they've already got again. Many smaller music download businesses now allow this. Plus for movies/video the DRM 'protects' it anyway.

That's bad luck, and either a statistical quirk or an exaggeration.
I'm not saying I don't believe you but it is not a particularly common occurrence. If you haven't please let the development team know your feelings:
