Flaw in SMS and BBM Keyboard Layout

Hi, I've been using the Z10 for a couple of months, and I think the keyboard layout for SMS and BBM is flawed because the PERIOD is located next to the SEND button.  This has caused me to accidentally send messages when I am typing too quickly.  I think a better layout would have the EMOTICON icon exchange positions with the SEND buttion.

Under Settings'/general/keyboards, There are now two keyboard layouts" software and hardware" keyboard layout.  I can easily just pic US in the software one, but the hardware one has three style choices of only arabic keyboards and it requires me to pick one.  So I still get arabic when I hit the globe.  If anyone knows how to solve this one (get rid of it!) i will respect u forever.
On this discussion board i always hear, go to settings  keyboard and change to US. As explained above, that does not solve the problem, nor many other users I read on here have the same issue as I do.  VERY ANNOYING.

You are might knight in shining armor.  If u road on,a white steed with a glass of grand marnier I'd marry u! Lol. Oh yea. Im already married to one. Seriously thanks dude, u have no idea how much this has driven me nuts that i couldn't even see an edit button?  Thanxs again!

  • Problem with Mail and customized keyboard layout

I have created a customized keyboard layout in XML, it loads and works perfectly with all applications except Apple Mail. I noticed on a googlegroup that somebody has the same problem. How can I submit this Mail bug to Apple?

download and run Find Any File to search for  "Antidote".
FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages. Any file you find will be in the search results window and can be dragged to the Desktop and then to the Trash bin.

  • [8.1 pro update1] Windows KEEPS changing and reinstalling keyboard layouts regardsless of IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout

Windows 8.1 is driving me nuts beyond believe once again. I have 8.1 Pro update 1 English, installed from the VLK iso from our Volume License / SPLA account. As we are a Dutch company, the Location is set to The Netherlands, as well as the date/time format.
Therefore in my keyboard settings the language is Dutch (NL) but I set my keyboard layout to US, as below:
As you can see there are no other languages our installed. This worked for years with Windows 7 and before with XP. Windows 8.1 however KEEPS changing my keyboard layout to plain Dutch making my keyboard unusable. The language bar in the systemtray, or whatever
it's called in this OS, shows THREE layouts, which are actually 'selectable' and work as if they were installed. However, they are not 'really' installed, as per the screenshots above.
This is driving me completely mad. Why on earth is Windows making descisions for me which I should be making myself? In addition, in my oppinion Windows should NEVER change somthing as trivial as a keyboard layout by itself. People don't change switch keyboard
even when logging on to a remote system that has a different layout configured. Whoever came up with this 'automatic switching per application' idea once again had no clue of real-life usage at all.
I've added those two languages I do NOT want to my keyboard layouts and removed them. Sure they are gone then, and as only language NLD with layout US is left, the language bar in systray is gone as well. After a few days all three are back, and my keyboard
    is producing wrong characters again.
I've tried with regvalue HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout set to 1, to no avail at all. It just keeps changing. This should help to prevent my keyboard when changing when I RDP to one of my servers.
The advanced settings in Language don't help either:
'let me set a different input language for each app window' is unticked.
Override for default keyboard is now set to Dutch - US, like I want it. Doesn't help either.
I cannot reproduce it on demand, settings do NOT change when connecting to my RDP server(s). They do NOT change when I open any of my used programs, being IE, Chrome, CMD.exe, notepad and a few others. It shouldn't either as I disabled the 'keep settings
    per application'.
I have changed the keyboard shortcut from alt-shift or whatever it was to 'none'.
How to prevent Windows 8.1 completely from changing the keyboard layout I use? Is there any way to check WHY or WHAT actually changes my keyboard?

This might be really late to this post but I've been having this issue while playing games, particularly those which are complex enough to require Control, Alt, Shift. At first like some people here suggested
Windows Key + Space was the cause, but even after removing all alternate layouts (for reference, I want the UK layout, but it was switching to the US Layout) it was persisting.
This post pointed me in the right direction, go into your Language Options
    > Change Override (Advanced). At this stage I've noticed there is the Switching input methods section, look for
Change language bar hot keys and here I fount Alt + Shift
was being used for switching Between input languages - a key combo I'd probably hit quite often just purely by accident. You can change the key sequence to no binds.
I haven't fully tested it, but it appears to be working for now - and I hope its an extra option for people to look at if they're running into this issue.

  • Change the kernel keymap and xkbd keyboard layout?

    I'd like to remap
    CTRL+(Left,Right,Up,Down)
    to
    Begin,End,PgUp,PgDown
And i've to say that i almost succeded, but probably there's a better way.
For the tty, i made a modified it.map.gz called itCtrlArrows.map.gz,
    put it into /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/
    modified /etc/vconsole.conf accordingly and rebooted.
    Ttys works, fine.
For Xorg i've had to use xbindkeys with something like:
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Home]'"
    m:0x14 + c:113
    Control+Mod2 + Left
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Shift]\[Home]'"
    m:0x5 + c:113
    Control+Shift + Left
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[End]'"
    m:0x14 + c:114
    Control+Mod2 + Right
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Shift]\[End]'"
    m:0x5 + c:114
    Control+Shift + Right
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Prior]'"
    m:0x14 + c:111
    Control+Mod2 + Up
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Shift]\[Prior]'"
    m:0x5 + c:111
    Control+Shift + Up
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Next]'"
    m:0x14 + c:116
    Control+Mod2 + Down
    "xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[Shift]\[Next]'"
    m:0x5 + c:116
    Control+Shift + Down
It works too, but it is an highly inefficient solution.
The tty keyboard layouts are really easy to hack, could this one be done somehow with an xkb keyboard layout?
    How?

I was just trying to figure this out myself and got to the realization that keyboard layout handling in Linux == crap and total mess.
xvkbd doesn't really works as you expect, try for example your mapping in Epiphany or Nautilus.
From what I gather you really can't map key combination with CTRL to a keysym in X as CTRL isn't a modifier key.
What you can do is to set a modifier key and the best way to do that would be to patch xkeyboard-config (I didn't tried yet, just looked in the code) but if you only got one keyboard layout then you can also use xmodmap and of course both method won't work in Wayland.
    See
    http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard-config (notice in symbols/us that English (US) layout doesn't map ALT_R to ISO_Level3_Shift, "level3(ralt_switch)" )

  • SMS and other Keyboard applications

The keyboard is really great, but I still occasionally make errors. However I have found that while on safari, when the keyboard is horizontal, my accuracy improves drastically. I believe this is because the size of the keyboard increases. I think it would be helpful if the next updated software made the gyroscope allow horizontal keyboard in other applications. Especially SMS and email.

You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

    1. Swap Left CTRL and Left ALT
    2. Swap Fn and Windows Key
    3. Convert the "extra \ key" next to the spacebar into a HOME key
    4. Convert Right ALT GR key into an END key
    5. Convert Right CTRL into Right Click (pop-up menu key)
    6. Swap the Caps Lock Key and LEFT SHIFT key
I installed the lastest BIOS from the MSI Site using the DOS method (70E) update. BIOS info is in the screenshot. After unlocking will I be able to set fan speeds from BIOS? If I want fan speed tweak should I give you the fan percentage that should be mapped to the temparature in C?
Thank you so much for your effort. Hope you will PM me with further instructions.

  • [E17] lock and keyboard layout problems when suspend

    Hello,
I just installed E17 on my Dell Vostro laptop. The main problem I have is related to the suspend mode.
In settings > screen > screen lock, I enabled the option "lock on suspend" and the keyboard layout is selected to "be (default, basic)" (I have a belgian keyboard).
When I use the menu system > suspend, the screen is locked. But when I suspend my laptop by closing the lid (I see the power light indicator blinking on the side, so it's suspended) the screen is not locked when I open it.
Also related to the suspend mode. The layout is set to belgian (in the screen config as explained above but also in vconsole.conf and in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-keyboard.conf). When I put the luks decryption key or when E17 starts at boot, I have the right layout. However when I resume the laptop after being suspended, the layout is switched to qwerty (en_us I guess).
    Any idea why ?
    Thank you
PS: this problem is maybe more related to E17 than to Archlinux but I haven't found any forum about enlightenment. If you think I have better chances somewhere else, let me know.

I was having problems with E17 after a fresh install (mixer problem, key bindings, etc), and I fixed it by deleting the configuration files at
    ~/.e
    as the wiki says.

I think u understand my trouble, PLS tell what i can do to resolve this.
    sor for bad eng.

Perhaps I'm not following your logic.  But why must you work with remote images?
Let's say your products page is uploaded to https://yourDomain.com/
and your local images are in an images folder that uploads to https://yourDomain.com/images/
Given that workflow, everything will be on the secure server so there is no reason to use remotely hosted images during development.

  • Some applications don't put accents with non-english keyboard layouts

I'm using a Portuguese keyboard with three different macs running Mac OS Tiger 10.4.8/9. Some applications (like Motion 2 and Swift Publishing 2) don't allow writing some accented characters, like (è) or (ê), that are accessed by Shift+normal key, but they do display correctly other accented letters, for instance (é), witch are accessed directly without the Shift key. This happens only in some applications and with a european keyboard layout (I tried it also with the spanish and french keyboards layouts), but not with other applications (it works all right with Word or iPhoto) and the english keyboards.
Any sugestion as how to solve this? If I create the text in some other application and paste it in Motion it works! But it's a drag.

  • Flash MX: default keyboard layout

My apologies if this topic had a better place to be posted.
I'm using Flash MX 2004 7.2. I use both English and Japanese keyboard layouts in my OS.
Every time I open Flash MX 2004, the default keyboard layout turns to Japanese. This only happens in Flash MX - in Dreamweaver MX and Fireworks MX, the keyboard layout defaults to English no problem.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    TIA

It sounds like it could be a Flash problem. You might want to also ask your question in the support forums run by the maker of the program:
    http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/index.cfm?forumid=15
You also might want to ask your question in a more appropriate Apple forum, like "Using Mac OS X Tiger." This one is for "Universal Access" questions.

  • Non-US keyboard layout problem with VNC

    Hi everyone,
I've got an arch box at work running tigervnc through an ssh tunnel so that I can work from home when I need to.
Everything is great, as long as I'm using and ASCII keyboard layout.
When I switch layouts, the keystrokes just don't get through to the server.
Here's  what I use to switch layouts:
    setxkbmap -layout us,ru -option 'grp:alt_shift_toggle'
So I need to type in russian, and I hit alt-shift, as usual, and start typing, but nothing is echoed back to me.  I can tell that the keystrokes are just not getting to the destination because if I'm at a terminal and I'm switched to the ru layout and I type something and hit enter, I just get a newline, as if there was nothing typed at all.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard
    language follow these instructions.
    Important:
The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device,
you need to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
    1. Open settings on your device.
    2. Tap General and then tap International.
    3. Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
    4. Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.

  • Multiple Libraries / Keyboard Layout folders?

    Howdy All -
Because Mac doesn't ship w/ a proper Arabic keyboard, I made one using ukelele. I added this to my old MacBook. So far so good. I bought an Air in the spring, transferred my account from the MacBook - no problems (ahem, related to the keyboard layouts).
However, I wanted to share this keyboard layout with friends and colleages (the world!), but when I navigate to my user's "Keyboard Layout" folder in Library, there is only a layout I recently designed. Is there another place I might find the other layouts I made previously (& that are still listed in Language preferences)?
I seem to recall both a "local" and "global" Keyboard Layouts folder in 10.6: if I added a keyboard layout to the global folder, then all users had access to it. But if I added it to the local folder, only that particular user could access it. But I can't find any such alternative layout folder.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    All the best,
    Rax

Your problem is that Home/Library is not visible in Lion without some special effort.  See
