FLEX 3 installation on WinXp

I have a weird problem. My PC crashed yesterday and after
re-booting Flex builder would not start. When clicking on the icon,
you get the initial Flex screen but then it disappeared and nothing
happens. After struggling for a couple of hours, I decided to
uninstall and reinstall Flex. Now when I run the installer,
InstallAnyWhere gets to about 43% and stalls, then jumps to 99% and
then asks for another location to extract the installer. When you
specify a different location, the same thing happens all over
again. This is the same installation file I used before, so I know
it is not corrupt. Also, when I checked my registry, there is not
entry for Flex under Adobe in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -- Software. Any
help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Answered my own question. For those of you with the same challenge, do the following:
1) Open the Java Preferences App in the "Utilities" folder under "Applications"
2) Set the 32-bit Java to be the default by dragging it to the top
3) Mount he Flex 3 installer DMG
4) Open terminal and type the following commands (exclude the '#'):
# cd /Volumes/FB3_mac_214193/FB3_Mac_Installer.app/Resources/Java
# java -classpath ./Execute.zip:./IAClasses.zip:./installscript.zip:. com.zerog.ia.installer.Main
The installer will run normally with a few visual distortions. When the installation finishes, quit terminal.

  • What Does Flex Installer Check in Eclipse DIR?

I'm using EasyEclipse which is bundled eclipse package and
Flex installer isn't recognizing it even though the directory
structure and file names are the same. it is using 3.1.2 Eclipse
    SDK.
So what is flex looking for whenever it installs into an
eclipse folder? The 'plugins' folder and 'features' folder is
there. The file size of eclipse.exe is the same as a traditional
eclipse install. This is the error:
    Eclipse 3.1 Not Found
Please choose an existing Eclipse 3.1 (or greater) folder to
    be updated.
This folder must contain the standard Eclipse folders named

  • Problem with OBI Apps v7.9.5 installation on WinXP SP2

We are attempting to install OBI Apps v7.9.5 on a WinXP SP2 machine. However, upon clicking the setup.exe file, we get the following error message -- Unable to load the launcher file index. Invalid file type in the index.
As a pre-requisite for OBI Apps, JDK 1.5.x and OBIEE v10.1.3.3.1 have been installed without any issues. Hence, not sure why we are getting the above error for OBI Apps. We have searched Oracle documentation, blogs and forums, but not found any reason or solution to this problem.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you..
Edited by: OBIGuy on Nov 2, 2009 1:00 PM

Thank you for the input. The contents of the installation directory are as below:
    Oracle_BI_Applications
    |- doc (folder)
    |- createResponseFile.bat
    |- installWithResponseFile.bat
    |- media.inf
    |- setup.exe
    |- setup.jar
    |- version_apps.txt
Before posting this query, I did run the setup.jar file. However, when the installation process reaches 100%, it terminates with the following error - */version_apps.txt does not exist*. Also, it rolls back the complete installation, so I do not get the OBI Apps files/directories such as DAC, dwrep, RPD, Web Catalog zip, etc.
As shown in the directory structure, this file does exist. My guess is - since I am running the JAR file and not the EXE, it is unable to resolve the path of version_apps.txt correctly and hence throws this error. Having gone through related blogs and posts, I understand that OBI Apps can be installed on Win XP SP2.
    Any inputs?

  • GRUB and Solaris 10 installation with WinXP

    Hi All,
I am new to Solaris 10 and want to install it on my PC.(Intel81845GVM-RZ Motherboard,256 mb RAM,80gb Hard disk)I am comfortable with installations on Sparc m/c but this GRUB bootloader is all new to me.I am not able to find any good document explaining X86 installations for solaris which include GRUB bootloader. How should I go about? Will it be possible for me to install WinXP+Solaris togather? If yes, kindly guide me in detail as to how should i go about doing it?will it be possible only wen I enhance my RAM to say 1 gb?How should I go about it then if I make it 1gb.How will i get GRUB bootloader??too many questions ....but then..consider me being new to solaris that too on X86.Sparc is easier and I have done it too.I also had installed Solaris 10 only(no WinXP)on my un n/w system.Somehow it got corrupted n I have downloaded the CDs.but the are in some other format and I wrote 3 images on one CD and remaining 2 on other. How can I get Installation Cds from those downloaded form?

I am new to Solaris 10 and want to install it on my PC.(Intel81845GVM-RZ
Motherboard,256 mb RAM,80gb Hard disk)IOne of my test machines is Intel 810e based one with 512MB SDRAM and 80 GB UltraATA drive. You need at least 512 MB to run it with OK on x86. But I would strongly recommend you 1 GB RAM, assuming you wish to go for x86 Developer Express.
I am not able to find any good document explaining X86 installations for
solaris which include GRUB bootloader. How should I go about? Will it be
possible for me to install WinXP+Solaris togatherOn that test machine, I run Windows XP - SP2, Sun Solaris x86 Developer Express 03/07, KUbuntu 3.70, PCLinuxOS 2007 final, Sabayon 3.4 Mini, Fedora Core 8 and Open SUSU 10.3 KDE.
Trick is two things, where you won't find in those (poorly maintained) Sun documents!
    a) Know your Hardware: this is a must.
    b) Learn how to put things where: partition expertise
    c) Learn how to control your boot loader: GRUB
It's no magic, everything is possible, provided time and patience :) Best of Luck!
.Sparc is easier and I have done it too.II have done on SPARC and Apple BookPro (new Intel models with Dual Core). I didn't get what you meant by easier?

  • Directory Server INstallation on WinXP

    Hi all,
I have tried to install DS5.2 on my win XP PRO machine and have different problems. From my search in this forum i have found conflicting information posted around...
I have found posts that say that DS5.2 cannot be installed or is not supported on Win Xp. Others say the opposite and claim to have it working just fine. i have read that JDK 1.5 has to be installed (which i have) and other details to keep this short.
I have two problems which i would appreciate if any of you could help me with.
    1. I initially installed DS5.2 just for testing purposes and then had to uninstall manually. I have removed the installation folder as well as registry entries ( To the best of my knowledge). Since then i have tried to re-install DS5.2 but the installation hangs a few steps in to the installation with a message saying " Loading Components".
Again i did a search over the forum and i found that maybe some o the files might have stayed behind (after uninstall) or that other files have to be renamed???? Can someone that has dealt with this provide some guidance?
    2. In order not to mess it up again could someone help me with the right procesure for installation of DS5.2 ( provided that the problem is solved and i dont have to re-install windows all together...)?
I appreciate your time and assistance in advance.
    Thanks Evan

DS5.2 can be installed and working on WinXP latest SP, as well as Win2000 latest SP.
You are not alone, search this forum for keyword "windows", there are many other issues reported for DS5.2 Windows version installation or uninstallation.
I suspect somehow DS5.2 installation/uninstallation changes/updates certian Windows system DLL files in system32 directory, and these changes causes subsequent install/uninstall issues. A related discussion is at Reply 8 of 15 of:
    http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=13&threadID=58600
I think we may achieve the effect of uninstallation, as a last resort, by:
    1) Remove DS5.2 sw componet registry keys and windows service keys
    2) Remove all temp files left by incomplete installation/uninstallation by looking at %TEMP% directory
    3) Remove all files under DS5.2 ROOT directory
I have a feeling that if we observe some of these guidelines, we may (or may not have) have less troubles and frustrations.
    0) Read the Release Notes, Installation Noes and/or Patch Notes, don't rush.
    1) Do not install DS5.2 on a domain controller, or a member of any existing domain or workgroup, to reduce dependencies on network security services, do install it on a stand-alone server.
    2) Apply SP4 to WIndows 2000 prior to DS5.2 installation, or latest SP to Windows XP.
    3) Make sure the display supports 256 colors.
    4) Make sure Administrator account is used
    5) Make sure %TEMP% directory has enough disk space
    7) The default DS5.2 install root directory may contain spaces, eg: c:\Program Files\..., change it to folder name WITHOUT spaces, eg: c:\Sun\DS52.
    8) Use the undocumented ".\setup.exe -debug" command to see more debugging messages.

  • Failed Installations Crashes WinXP Start

When going to install SoundBlaster Li've! 5. sound controller devices, the dri've installation stops working at 95% and denies use of the keyboard and mouse, essentially crashes. When manual restart occures and loading Bios, startup crashes on WinXP main loading menu.
Reformatted, reinstalled XP serveral time and driver installation continues to fail.
Problem happened after installing Windows Longhorn Evaluation as a second OS, then reformatting the intire C-Dri've to clean install XP, installation on this new clean install fails and fails when re-formatting and re-intalling XP. Installation previous to this worked.
Windows detects the multimedia controller and all hardware are healthy.

  • Flex installer crashes

First of all, I hope this is the right place to ask my
    question.
I've downloaded Flex Builder 2, the trial. But everytime I
try to install this app, my pc crashes, it gives me a bluescreen.
The strange thing is that a week ago nothing went wrong and
the installation went fine. But I installed it at a wrong place so
    I uninstalled it...
I think there is a conflict between windows and the
    installer.
    Does someone recognize this situation?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad English.

    Hi there,
I have faced a similar issue before. I had an old machine
with only 512MB RAM. At that time, flex 2 builder used to crash
frequently. Carsh used to happen usually when I tried to create a
new project or start flex2 builder.
What I tried was to remove the flex builder 2 folder in my
documents and keep it safe in some other drive . Now I tried to
start it again and it worked. I feel its coz of low virtual memory
, that this problem has occured. May be or may not be but it was a
trial and error method. that I used.

  • Flex Installation

    hi all,
Can anybody tell me the procedure for complete installtion of flex developement environment
also the dependand objects. like flex SDK, Flex builder, java ,IDE
Please mention the sequence of installtion

If you're installing Flex/Flash Builder then you don't really need to do anything else (Flex SDK, Flash Debugger etc is included in the install, the builder is the IDE). Just install it as you would any other app, unless you're doing something different such as installing the Eclipse plugin for existing Eclipse installation.

  • JAWS Scripts for Flex Installation

    Hi,
I'm trying to update JAWS for my computer to use on a particular website that I have to have this for. However when I go to update my file i get this error,
"Your installation of JAWS seems to be corrupted. Please reinstall JAWS and run this installation again. "
I can't find it in my programs, So i'm not sure where to begin to unintsall this to reinstall. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player which is part of what I need for the website as well.
    Any suggestions?
    I'm going to keep looking.
    -Dkerste

JAWS is not an Adobe product, so I don't know how we can help you with this.  But the message you get is pretty clear: reinstall/repair JAWS before running the update.
You also mention Flex, which has its own forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex

  • Broken Tomcat installation on WinXP - JAVA_HOME error

I am new to WinXP ... but have to use it. The problem I am experiencing is due to error in setting JAVA_HOME.
I am in the process of installing a Tomcat 5.5.20 and have problems with correctly seting JAVA_HOME environmental variable.
My jre is at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10", and this is a value I placed at JAVA_HOME=.C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10
When I am testing it running %Java_Home%\bin\java ... I am getting back the same error I am getting when I'm run startup.bat i.e., "'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command".
This must be my lack of experience with DOS/WInXP -- do I have to place quotes? is this a problem?
    Thx for help...
    pete

OK. I found the problem. I am writing this for others who may encounter the same problem while working late ... and perhaps be a bit desparate ...
YOU MUST LOAD A FULL JDK! For whatever reasons, there is(are?) JDK distributions that offer reduced functionality - no jdb.exe and so on.
I found it hard way by tracing execution of "setclasspath.bat". Without badmouthing the script, let me only say that it's diagnostic msgs are somewhat cryptic. In the first scan they indicate error in defining JAVA_HOME, however once you look why are you geting the msg, it is clearly generated on the exit when failing to validate that (in my case) jdb.exe is not available.
Given this clue, I checked (googled) for missing jdb.exe and here is a smoking gun:
    <http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5128446&messageID=9458490>
Saish, thanks for your kind reply, trust me I was as puzzled by this as you were ;-)
Regards to all and read carefully the small print ;-))),

  • Stuck on Installation under WinXP SP1

I get this error and cant continue installation:
FSL-02010 Unable to set time for file C:WINDOWSSystem32driversetcservices.1
    Someone know what is it?
    Is there any work arrownd?
    Thanks,
    Martín.

    Hi Martin,
setting a time stamp is basically nothing different (at least under Windows) than changing the content of the file and saving it (which does reset the modification timestamp). So i suggest to try to open the file you mentioned with the corresponding user, change it and try to save.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Stefan
PS: This stays true even if Graig was 1 minute quicker than me

    Hi,
I have a problem with installation of winXP SP1 on my computer. First i got a blue screen in the first step of installation (windows loads drivers, then freezes).  It said that acpi.sys is the problem. I disabled it and then the problem was irq not less... . Then i disabled
internal cache,  system bios cacheable and shadowing options and installation started but the computer was too slow ( it took about an hour to copy the files on hard disk). After the installation was finished i put back the fields internal cache to writeback and c00 32k shadow to cached and left system bios cacheable on disabled ( i read in the manual that it might be a reason for system hangups) to speed it up.  For a while it seemed like it was working ok, i installed the drivers, software... but  tomorrow everything up. windows started to freeze when i tried to encode mp3's from audio cd's, when i tried to install new sofware...
I dont know what to do and don't want to disable   internal cache because of the huge system slowdown...

    Hi!
What can your PSU provide in terms of ampères?
Load BIOS setup defaults. Open case.
Have the HDD and the CDRW on different IDE channels and cables, with both as Master respectively at the end of the cable.
    Install VIA 4in1 drivers.
When everything works, make proper BIOS adjustments.
    Best wishes, and good night!
Can't provide the data about my PSU because i'm not at home right now.
    I will do it tomorow.
Cables are already set up like that.
