Flex 7500 Wireless SFP

The documentation states the Flex 7500 WLAN controllers support the 10Gig transcever "SFP-10G-SR" but mentions no others. Is it possible to install a 1Gig transceiver such as GLC-T or GLC-SX-MM or other types of 10Gig transceivers.

No.. The Flex7500 is pure 10gig connection only.

  • Issue with AP 3702i, AP not registered in Flex 7500

    Hi
My problem is this , I have several Access Points 3702i , which are seteados with Static IP , which were previously configured . When connected to the network , they are not able to register with the WLC Flex 7500, the AP reachable from the WLC for ping , but still not recorded.
I connected to the network, I connect the console to the AP and I reconfigure the AP two or three times, until it is able to register.
Anyone know if this happens over a Bug or a series of equipment failures that come with ????
The Access Point throws typical logs trying to connect to the WLC , try enocntrar a DHCP and restarted , despite having a Static ip and is reachable from the WLC .
Greetings and esperi someone can answer .

What code running on your 7500 ? 3700 require 7.6.100.x or above
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html
If possible attach the console output of the AP while this issue is happening. That will tell us reason for the failures

  • Cisco Flex 7500 controller with client disconnects

    Hey All,
There will be alot of info in this post, hopefully all helpful, more info the better right!  If you require anymore info to help me out to not hesistate to request it.
We have been having some issues with clients connecting and disconnecting several times a day and having to manually reconnect from the icon on their taskbar. We have about 380 APs, and 200+ more to deploy that we have and are licensed for but are having some issues that we want to resolve first obviously.
Some locations our setup is a bit more complex than this with multiple SSIDs and vlans, but this issue is everywhere so i will keep it to our simple setup for now:
AP Models: AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9, AIR-CAP1602I-A-K9 (Most locations do not have a mix of both, most have 1042s)
Running a single SSID - WPA/WPA2 with: WPA - TKIP and WPA2 - AES on the same SSID.
They talk back to a Cisco Flex 7500 Series through a tunnel (should not be any port blocking preventing communication)
We are running from what i understand a bad firmware version (7.6.100.0) and during our next maintenance window i am going to try and get them to change to a more stable firmware version.
Data Rates of 1,2,5.5,11 Mbps are disabled
    TPCv1 coverage running
    Automatic Power Assignment
I will not focus on the a/n/ac network as most of our devices are connecting to WPA due to the config they already have.
Ideally i would like to get rid of WPA all together but i am not 100% in control of the decisions to get the started and people here like to delay things lol.
It is hard to say if the issue is specific to a model as we have so few 1602Is, and it is just at our main office.  I have not heard many complaints but i have noticed i will now and then get a limited or no connectivity settings on my wireless icon on my PC.  I use hard-wired so i don't really notice if it is not working.
In most locations it looks like the controller is doing a decent job at selection channels to use. I did find one spot where it had on 11 APs down a long hallway, and did not use channel 6 once. I statically set that location to stagger the channels to see what kind results we had and am still waiting to hear on that as they complained the most out of all of our locations. In some cases 3 APs in a row were on channel 1 in the hallway, in alot of casses 1 was 2 times in a row as well as 11 so there was alot of overlap.
I am attaching my show sysinfo and show wlan 17 for that informtion, some of the other settings i have changed today that were previously enabled/set different are:
    Disabled Cisco Aironet IE
Set channel automatic rescan from 10 mintues to 12 hours as i can image if it is changing the channels alot it can lead to disconnects.
Some of the main things we get in our message log are:
    *dot1xMsgTask: Oct 16 15:17:36.943: #DOT1X-4-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS: 1x_ptsm.c:508 Max EAPOL-key M5 retransmissions exceeded for client 84:85:06:0b:a6:33

As long as you take the configuration backup downgrading from 7.6.100.0 to 7.4.121.0 should be fine. Because this is Flexconnect deployment, make sure you review the release notes thoroughly as config like vlan mapping is impacted it is painful to reconfigure.
I still think moving to 7.6MR3 & once 8.x get stable going for that code is a good plan. Though 7.4.121.0 is assure wave it does not mean it has no bugs.(remember that prior to this 7.4.110.0 was assure wave & it deferred in quick time) . I would say 8.x going to be the code staying for long time period, so ultimately you have to be there.
In 8.x there are few FlexConnect improvements, one being AP won't reload when you change from local mode to FlexConnect.

  • Cisco Flex 7500 and anchor

Hello, I couldn't find this on the Cisco Flex 7500 specs
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/wireless/ps6302/ps8322/ps11635/data_sheet_c78-650053.html
Do anybody know if I can set up an anchor mobility group between the Flex 7500 and the WLC 5508?
    Kind regards

Yes, 5508 can be used as anchor controller for static anchoring while 7500 as foreign using central swtiching.
    For Mobility:
    Fault Tolerance
It is recommended to use Flex 7500 as both the primary and backup controllers.
Flex 7500 primary and backup controllers must be in the same mobility domain.

  • WLC 5508 and Flex 7500

    Hi,
I am going to deploy 5508 with 12 AP version now..
In future, we are going to get another Cisco Flex 7500 Series Cloud Controller.
My question is can 5508 run N+1 redundancy with 7500? or is there any best practice or upgrade path avail?
    Thanks,
    John

My understanding is that the 7500 cloud controller is for H-REAP only implementations and if it could be used as an N+1 (which I haven't heard it can) like Leolaohoo said it'd only be useful for your H-REAP access points and not your local mode ap's.. they are intended for drastically different network topology and scenarios.

  • My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to Fitbit Flex or wireless headset

My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to my Fitbit Flex aftering updating to ios 7.  Apple phone support had me completely erase and set my phone up again as new to restart bluetooth pairing, then restore again through iCloud.  Worked last night but same problem today.  It also will no longer connect to my wireless headset in my car.  Of course I'm now 5 days over my 1 year warranty as well.  Any ideas?

Delete the pairing from both devices then pair them again.

  • Flex 10 wireless disconnected

The wireless connectivity on my Flex 10 has stopped working since we had a Windows update a few days ago (some time between 15 and 20 November).  I can't find any way to fix it.  Anyone else having this issue?  I have re-started the computer several times.  Lenovo refers to a "switch", but I can't find one on this model.  Airplane mode is off.  The computer just seems to be denying that it has wireless connectivity.  The troubleshooter is no help at all.

Specifically, I recommend setting a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Westell 7500 Wireless modem/router help please.

    Hi, newbie here
I recently purchased a laptop for the first time in my life and I am trying to connect it to a wireless connection, which I have never done as well. I am using a Westell 7500 modem provided to me by Verizon. I did a bit of researched and apparently (if I'm correct) I don't need a wireless router or any other devices to get wireless internet.
If I am correct, I went to my modem's IP address and turned on wireless. I set up and changed the SSID and enabled a pass phrase, and I connected to the network at the bottom right. It connects, but there is no internet connection. What I mean by this is that it connects to the device successfully, but there is a triangular yellow warning sign with an exclamation mark on my internet bar at the bottom right and in my "Network and Sharing center" it says "no internet access."
Am I doing something wrong or do I need to buy an wireless router? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You do not need to buy  a wireless router. the 7500 will do the job! I assume you have windows 7. OPen network and sharing center, manage wirleless networks, do you have any entries for your Verizon  ISP?  If yes delete the entry and go to step 2.
If no go to desktop and press f1 to bring up help -  search for (Setp 2)  "set up wirless network" and let us know if that works for you. Welcome to the forum

  • Ideapad Flex 15 wireless problem

My wireless internet frequently cuts off showing the no connectivity image at the bottom right hand corner.
I have updated the driver and even uninstalled it, though it did not help in both cases.
I uninstalled most of the software that came with notebook, such as McAfee anti-virus and other programs that may affect my wireless connection.
I can regain internet access by simply disconnecting and reconnecting, however this is not a long term solution.
Windows doesn't seem to attempt to reconnect either.
I tried most of the common methods and I'm seeking some other ideas.
I'm using Windows 8.1 and I've also experienced this problem with Windows 8.
In addition, I've tried three different wireless internet connections; I don't believe it to be a router problem.
The hardware is: Intel Wireless-N 7260

Try to use the driver here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS036494
If that drivers don't work, it might be because you upgraded to 8.1. Try the Yoga 2 Pro's drivers instead since they both share the same WiFi card: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037481

  • Will the Westell 7500 wireless work with the Roku 2 XD Player?

I've never used the wireless router before. I got it from Verizon years ago and it's sat untouched in a box. I'm sorry if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find the post. I need to find out if the router is compatible and how to set the two systems up before I go out and buy the Roku.

Yes it will work wireless(wifi), the roku supports wireless.

  • HREAP Groups and AP limitations

    Hi,
We have deployed the latest WiSM2 controllers, 3500i APs and WCS v7. Currently the HREAP Group limitation is set to 25, does anyone know if this will increase anytime soon ?
I want to allow fast roaming across multiple floors in a building so I need to cache the CCKM on more than 25 APs within the building to allow seamless roaming.

  • Best wireless deployment at Remote Sites - designe

    Dears,
I have many remote sites with Hub and Spoke topology, and I have Cisco wireless controller 5508 on our HQ serve the wireless network at HQ (approximate 25 Aps)
The business need to deploy the wireless on RSs for public customer (not for employees).
I have concerns about security if we going to terminate the SSID - for public- at Remote sites toward HQ over WAN connections (viruses, malware, sniffing … etc.) to control it using our Cisco wlc even if I terminate the vlan represented this SSID toward our firewall (on dedicated DMZ), and congestion will happen since this SSID will be used by the public (Non-employees persons).
    Please your kind suggestion.
    Thanks in advance

    For you scenario.

  • Need advice for wireless iTunes access (have router already)

I'm having a hard time sifting through all the info to find the best solution. I have a MacBook Pro that I'll soon be upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard, as well as an iPhone, with a second iPhone soon to enter the family. We also plan to get an iPad. We actually have an older iMac that we won't be upgrading, so we're going to move our iTunes library from the iMac over to the MacBook (basically turning the MacBook into our primary computer). We want to be able to play iTunes without having to keep the MacBook plugged into wired speakers. That seems a bit pointless.
We have a wireless router already (a D-Link), so I don't need AirPort Express to act as a router. (We have a 1 bedroom condo, really no reason to extend the network or anything like that.) We have a printer that works wirelessly with the MacBook already. All I'm really trying to figure out is the best way to set it up so that we can have iTunes on the MacBook, playing over speakers (either the ones we currently have our iMac plugged into, or our stereo speakers that we have our TV setup with). Ideally if we could do the same from the iPhone and (future) iPad, that would be great, too.
Does it make any sense for us to get an AirPort Express to do this, or would it just be more straightforward to get wireless speakers that can work over Bluetooth (like the Creative D200 ones in the Apple store)? I feel like the AirPort has the potential to be overkill for our usage, especially since I can't seem to figure out if you can use AirTunes with an iPad, and we don't need it for the wireless printing functions.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Leo! Yeah, I was confused about the 2500 series too because they push the Flex 7500 so much as the "real" solution.
Now that I'm looking in the right spot, it looks like NCS Prime Infrastructure is for the serious folks and we could probably get away without it, right? So that would leave the access points, the controller, and the basic network stuff.

  • Wireless Management - Local Controller vs. Cloud

    Good afternoon,
We are currently looking to upgrade (re-design) our wireless network at our college.
I was curious if anyone had any experience going from a local, controller-based wireless network to a cloud-based controller? If so, what have you found the pros and cons to be?
If you thought about going to a “cloud solution”, what stopped you?
In addition, any other feedback on Meracki, Aerohive, Aruba, or other solutions would be much appreciated.
    About Us
We are currently running wireless at our 3 primary campus locations, and looking to add it to our 3 satellite locations.
We use 4402 WLCs at our primary locations with a mix of 1140 and 1240 APs.

The advantage of using local controller are
    1.Lower Operational Expenses
2.Easier Way to Scale with Optimal Design
3.Single Location to Apply Wired and Wireless Services
In addition, certain controllers, such as Cisco Wireless Services Module (WiSM) blades on the Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series Switches, perform various other functions, including application inspection using the Cisco Network Analysis Module, enhanced security with a full stateful firewall and intrusion detection system, and more. Placing the controller in a centralized location simplifies N+1 or N+N redundancy, depending on the size of the network. This redundancy means that for each wireless controller (N) there is at least one backup controller (+1). The backup controller is not positioned to actively contribute to normal system operation but provides a reliable way to protect the network in case of any failure or downtime on the component being used to manage network access
The advatage of using cloud based controller
1.The Cisco Flex 7500 Series Cloud Controllers are used for this.
2.you can consolidate multiple controllers in to one controller with support up to 6000 access points and 64,000 clients from data center
3.Gain significant saving in operatins by configuring , managing and troubleshooting 6000 AP's and 64,000 clients in single pint of touch
    4. When traffic is directed to the controller in FlexConnect Central switched mode, the Flex7500 Series supports Application Visibility and Control (AVC). AVC includes the NBAR-2 engine, Cisco's deep packet inspection (DPI) capability that classifies applications, applies quality of service (QoS) to either drop or mark the traffic, and prioritizes business-critical applications in the network. AVC uses NetFlow Version 9 to export the flows. The Cisco Flex 7500 Series in central switched mode also supports Bonjour Services Directory to enable Bonjour Services to be advertised and utilized in a separate Layer 3

  • Wireless Clients can't connect post WLC Upgrade to version 7.4.100.0

Upgraded WLC Flex 7500 controller to: 7.4.100.0
    Previous WLC Controller version: 7.2.111.3
After the upgrade, all AP's reported back to the controller and looked like working. We have 50+ branch sites that connect back via Layer 2 to the main office. The main office SSID's were broadcasting and users could connect and get the proper IP's. Users that connected back through FlexConnect AP's couldn't obtain an IP address. The client would authenticate to the WLC and accept the SSID key, but would not get an IP address. I see with the 7.4.100.0 upgrade there are more options for DHCP for each interface, which we don't use interfaces for all sites as we did in the early days, now we make sure the flex connect tab has the vlan identifier in the tab and the traffic goes out the local firewall etc. Each remote site has a Linux based firewall and DHCP server.
Looking for any insight with the 7.4.100.0 upgrade that may cause clients to not connect and obtain an IP address.
We have since back dated our WLC Software to: 7.2.111.3 to allow things to work pre upgrade which everything worked fine.
Any suggestions would be great, we had to upgrade version 7.4.100.0 to support our AP 1602.
    Thanks in advance.
    Matt

Verify that you have an upgraded FUS image. Second, make sure your WLAN to vlan mapping on the FlexConnect AP's have the correct vlan mapping. I have seen these change to the default vlan mapping.
