Flex Builder 3....Not launching?

Whenever I press F11 to launch my flex/air project it does not launch. The red square shows up in flex builder and flex builder seems to think it is open but there is nothing there. Also if I check my system processes, it says that adl is running, and it also says that javaw.exe is running at 50%. (I believe javaw.exe is flex builder as flex builder closes if I end that process.)
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for all your help!
I just installed FB 3 again, but still no love, yikes! I
don't get it FB 2 was painless,...
I have the same issues, and safari does not handle any flex
apps, just a blank(grey page). Can I ask a favor? Can you check
this link, a flex charting app. It can view it perfectly in Camino,
but just a blank page in safari. Could you check this link in
safari?
http://cfhawaii.com/Charts/DrillDownWithEffects.html
I also still get the can't find the debugger player.
Maybe I need to take a on-line course(bring that I am in
hawaii) to learn how to get everything set up.
I send a bug report to adobe, and I am hoping that somebody
gets back to me, and can help me fix the problems, as I couldn't
even registrar FB3, I want to start learning flex, not dealing with
this.
Thanks so much for all your help`-`
John

  • Flex Builder will not start

I really need some help on this. Flex builder will not start.
When I try to run it, I get the error: An error has occured. See
the log file: <has a location to file>.
When I open the file, I get an error log. I will post it to
    the end of this message.
So far, I have unisntalled/reinstalled Flex several times. I
have uninstalled Java, and reinstalled Java. I have uninstalled
Flex, removed ALL directories I could find (under /program files/
as well as /documents), run cclean to clear out registry entries,
as well as going through the entries one at a time. I then
rebooted, and reinstalled. I have also downloaded the original
    install file 3 times now.
One oddity of my install, is that I am running on a
re-directed desktop, so my /documents/flex builder 3/ directory is
out on the network, but acts like it is locally mapped. I HAVE
logged on my system's local account, which doesn't have a
redirected desktop. This error occurs on both accounts.
I am the administrator of this box, and all permissinos are
run as an administrator. I am running Vista Business, and have run
this both with user access control on and off. I have also tried
running it in compatibility mode for Win XP SP2. While installing
it seems to fail on the Cold Fusion plugin, but it continues to
install, and tells me it installed fine. I am honestly at my wit's
    end on this one.

Ok, this has FINALLY been fixed. There seems to be an issue
with having your documents stored remotely. My documents folder,
instead of being on my C: drive, has been redirected to the server,
    so the location is: \\server\share\username\documents\etc
To fix this, I uninstalled Flex Builder 3, then deleted that
directory i makes under documents. I then logged off my account,
and logged on as the local administrator. I installed as the local
administrator which does not have a redirected desktop nor
redirected documents folder. It installed fine. I logged off the
local admin account, and logged in as my account, and was able to
fire up Flex Builder 3. Though, it STILL created it's own "copy" of
Documents on the network drive. So, the directory structure is
\\server\share\userID\Documents, the problem, is that there are TWO
"Documents" directories there. If you go to properties, windows
still recognized the old one, as "My Documents" even though it is
redirected as the file, Documents. The new folder, is also called
    Documents.
Odd behavior. Just hope this helps someone else, in the
    future.

  • Flex Builder Won't Launch?

I recently downloaded the trial for Adobe Flex Builder 4 and when opening the program all i get is a message saying 'An error has occoured, please see log file'. I had the same problem when trying Flex 3.
Can anyone help? Ive tried everything I can find, ive also tried uninstalling it and re-installing it. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.2

I've installed Flash Builder 4 RC in my windows XP workstation, but it crashes every time I try to launch the application. I found this error in C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Adobe Flash Builder 4\.metadata\.log

  • Flex Builder is not building my Project

Hi all, I m very new to this Flex. I applied "clean" to my
project, from that I am not able to bulid any of my projects. It
deleted .html and other related files. when I tried running this
project, gives me error ",,.html file is not found".
Can any one of you help me in this issue.
    thank you.

    Hey
in FlexBuilder in the menu Project you can clean your
projects and be sure that the checkbox "start a build immediately
    is checked.
Another reason of your problem can be the browser-caching
    too, check this out too.
    Cheers

  • DPS Builder will NOT launch

I can't find a solution or work around to the following issue: when I go to 'Create App' in InDesign or even just simply launch DPS App Builder I get this message of 'Requires authentication'.
Absolute pain in the you-know-what. I am on an Mac, OS X 10.9.4, fully paid CC subscriber, InDesign CC 2014 latest update, DPS Tools latest version v32, DPS App Builder v3.2.1.
What requires authentication? I have not come across any boxes to tick/accept anywhere. I accepted terms of use when first set up my account. Very, very frustrating as I can't finish off the digi mag I have built (and subs have paid for). Any help appreciated.

    Hi Neil
I also found reference to that on threads a while back - I am the admin on the Mac, so that did not solve it. Actually stumbled across another solution on here last night. Of all things, using Safari to login to Creative Cloud initially (and not Firefox) has fixed it.
I got in, then managed to launch DPS App Builder fine - both via Creative Cloud and then also through the 'Create App' on InDesign Menu. So hopefully all fixed.
    Cheers

  • How come Flex Builder does not complain when semi-colons are omitted for AS3 statements?

Hi, I was wondering why my flexbuilder3 plugin for eclipse does not complain when and if I leave off a semi-colon at the end of an AS3 statement.  Has anybody else experience this in their flex environments?
What can I do to fix this; as this is very annoying.
    Thanks in advance!
    Tonté

Hm...  I see.  Thank you all for your replies.  I didn't realize AS3 does not require semi-colons at the end of AS3 statement unless there is more than one statement on the line.  I will have to double check this for my self and report back.  I guess I can't shake my Java habbits.
    Thanks again!
    Happy Flexing!

  • Is flex build will not work in iOS3(upgraded to 4)

We have an iOS3 upgraded to 4...
when trying to install the ipa file,  getting a message "cannot be installed as it is not compatible..." .

I think Joe, and the Adobe web pages, may be wrong about it needing iPod Touch 4th generation. See here, that the two use the same processor:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch#Specifications
and here, where in one thread someone tried it on a 3rd generation iPod, and it worked:

  • Change which browser flex builder launches in

My default browser was Google Chrome, and I have when I hit
F11 in Flex Builder it always launches in Google Chrome, but
because of some issues in chrome it is making troubleshooting
cumbersome. So I want to launch in FireFox but I cannot figure out
how. I set FF to my default browser, restarted my compuster, and
flex still launches in google chrome. I even uninstalled google
chrome and then Flex Builder just gives me an error saying it
    cannot find google chrome.
Can someone please tell me how to get it to launch in
    Firefox?
    Thanks!

    I went to Control Panel>Add Remove Promgrams>Set
    Program Access Defaults>Custom>Choose Default Web
    Browser>FireFox
    then restarted flex...that did it.

  • Flex builder 3 - clean build

I am having problems with Flex builder 3 not building
    correctly.
It does incremental builds - to reduce compilation time on
individual changes I assume - but quite often gets it wrong and
produces a whole stack of invalid errors.
I've tried the build clean function but that doesn't seem to
actually perform a full build clean. It only resolves these issues
some of the time. I can mess around with the code - deleting and
then un-deleting lines that are throwing up errors, or sometimes
renaming the main style sheet - which usually fixes it. But this is
a constant drain on my productivity and sometimes no amount of
messing around will help. In those cases only exporting the entire
code base and creating a new project resolves the issue. (I would
guess because this forces a completely clean build)
Does anyone know of a way to either eliminate this problem
alltogether or failing that perform a full clean build through the
    builder.
I'm guessing a customised any build script may be the
solution, but I've never created one of these.

jfb, I tried all that but to no avail.
Devtron, am not using SVN ! I'm using the Flex Builder standalone version.
Thanks guys for your replies. I just ran out of patience and just started working with FB4 and all is going great !
    Thanks again

  • Flex Builder Projects

Flex Builder does not have an "Open Project" choice on the
menu. We'd like to check the flex project into our source code
control and share the environment, however we cannot find a way to
"open" the project on a machine other than the one it was created
on. If the project is deleted from the workspace, how can it be
added back, and how can I add a project to my workspace or open a
    project from another source?
    Thanks.

I just had the same problem. Here is the solution:
    File>Import>click general>Existing Projects into
Workspace> click next> click browse on select root
directory>this will add your project to the projects list.>
click finish and your done. One thing I did noticed is that when I
tried to open other projects, they would not open. I got the
    message "Invalid project description.
    /Users/work/Sites/flex2/eventTest overlaps the location of
    another project: eventTest". Go figure.

  • Flex Builder shows one error at a time

    Hi folks,
I am new to flex. I have written a sample application in ActionScript. When I tried to build the application I am not able to see all my compile time errors at a single time. Following is the brief summary of the Issue occured while building the sample application:
              - First time one compliation error is shown.
              - After fixing this compilation error
              - Another compilation error is shown.(remember this error exists even at first time also) (and so on)
Can't I see all the compilation errors at once (so that I can fix all my errors at one shot) in Flex Builder?
(Note: I have the 'strict' mode enabled for the flex project)
    Thanks,
    Vamsi

It depends on the error. If your error is confusing the heck out of the compiler, the compiler might not be able to reason about the rest of your source code, so it won't catch the rest of your errors. It also depends on the compiler--smarter compilers can show you more informative errors, or more errors at a time.
I've found that most of the time, FlexBuilder is pretty good at reporting multilpe errors. Unfortunately, when it's not, there's not much you can do.

And after that I tried to install Flex Builder 3 standalone, but that worked even worse, It just created two empty folders! How to solve all these problems?

Read the Flex Builder release notes and installation instructions.
    Sincerely,
    Michael

I tried again. This time I started with downloading a clean copy of
Eclipse and installed it in a new folder, then downloaded a clean
copy of the Flex plugin and saved it in a new folder. It did not
work that much better this time. The errors was the following:

  • Is Flex Builder necessary to edit a flex application?

Hi, I made an swf application with Flex 3 Builder using mxml files. Now i've got to deliver the application to a designer in my division so I would like to know, if he wants to modify the application, does he have to use Flex Builder as well? Adobe CS3 wouldn't be enough?
I'm asking if he can modify the design as you do in flex builder in the design tab (drag drop component ...)
    Thanks

Well, to answer your subject question, Flex Builder is not needed to edit the MXML or ActionScript code that makes up a Flex Application.
You can use notepad--or any text editor, and re-compile it against the command line SDK.  There are also alternatives, FDT comes to mind as one.  There is also a few Visual Studio plugins.
None of that addresses your real concern.  As far as I know, there are no tools in CS3 [or 4] that will give you "Designer-style" access to a Flex Builder project.
It sounds like you want Flash Catalyst; however it is still in beta, and has limited support for the Flex 3 component architecture.
