Flex Builder feature set includes?

With Flex Builder distributed as a plug-in in for Eclipse it
seems natural to include the FDS plug-in in the Flex Builder 3
installation. What are the chances of that happening?

Did you close all the browsers (and applications which use
Flash Player) when you install Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 or Flash
Player? You can try manually installing it from <FB install
location>/player/ directory. Here're some

Flex builder 3.0.1 check sum

Today I download flex builder 3.0.1 (FB3_win.exe windows
version standalone ), when use md5sum check the file, It not same
as the adobe's page (Windows: 5685090ac5f2a514075e7a7bd7ba1eb0), my

redownload the FB3_win.exe now checksum is

Flex Builder 3.0 Licence purchase request

We have installed flex builder 3.0 (trail version) as part of the FLEX development and design mode working fine. The problem is not able to buy license for this specific version 3.0. When clicks on Purchase button under Manage Flex Builder License thows the error page "Sorry, this page is not available". Please advise if there is any other option to buy flex builder 3.0 license.
The reason that we are going to flex builder 3.0 is due to design mode works only fine in this version. We have installed Flex Builder 4.5 and above versions , design mode not working properly which is really big challenge to deal with Flex code. Flex Builder 3 - Export Release Build Feature

Just bought the Flex Builder 3 prof version and imported my
project from Flex Builder 2 to 3. All compiled OK and I see all
.html wrappers and swf (debug and release versions) in the bin
folder. However when I run the "Export Release Build Feature" only
index.swf (my main application file) along with its wrapper
index.html and my images directory gets copied to "bin-release"
folder. Not sure why remaining.swf files corresponding to the .mxml
files are not copied. Do I need to copy these manually???

The problem is that:
all the images do not appear in the "Select the output files to include in the exported AIR or AIRI file" section of the Export Release Build. I see only 30 files with the rest of the files missing.
As a work around, what I did is manually copy all the resources/images from bin-debug to bin-release directory and then make the export release build. In this air package after installation, I see now all the images.
so, the original problem with flex builder not being able to include all the images in release build still persists.

Does the Lifecycle product license include the use of Flex Builder Pro and Flex SDK?

I have been trying to find out whether we can use the latest Flex Builder and SDK using the LiveCycle license or do we need to purchase additional license? We will use these products to develop Flash Applications to use with our Livecycle product.

Flex Builder 3? I no longer remember if it supports Adobe AIR and what version. I would think newer versions of Adobe AIR can do it via NativeExtensions.

Unable to set verbose stacktraces in Flex Builder 2.01

If I set the compiler option -verbose-stacktraces=true, in
the Problems listing in Flex Builder Eclipse Plugin 2.01, I get the
following error message:

I think your facing this problem for standalone FLEX application & for projects in workspace, Flex compiler is getting compiling information from
..\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\2.0.1\frameworks\flex-config.xml for such projects.
& for Web projects it refers project\WEB-INF\flex\flex-config.xml
You can try to modify setting in this file. Hope this will work for you.

Click PROJECT>PROPERTIES>FLEX COMPILER and look in the
Additional Compiler Arguments and check if the following is
present...
-locale en_US
If you have a different locale then change it to en_US. Let
me know if this helps!

Flex 3 builder project setting with server on another box

I have a livecyle DS (or BlazeDS) server which is different from my workstation where I am writing flex codes using flex builder 3. When creating a new flex 3 project, I need to specify Root folder/Root URL/Context root in "Configure J2EE SErver" screnn. It seems this screen is always assuming the server is runing on the same box as the workstation I am writing flex code. Is it the case? Or is possible to develop flex apps where the server is located on another box?

when any file in the project is saved, it builds and outputs
to the info below. when i run it, it points to the root url posted
below.
as far as the HOSTS file, it has the normal localhost
loopback. which is fine in this case.
the source code in the main.html is generated from the HTML
Wrapper section in the Flex Compiler settings under the project
settings.
i think this is a local IIS issue.
under the flex project settings i have:
Flex Server -> Root Folder:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\<directory>
Flex Server -> Root URL:
http://localhost/<app>
-> which point to root folder under IIS
Felx Build Path -> Output Folder ->
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\<directory>
if i run the app from within Flex(Project Run Button) or from
a local http link, it hangs; however, if i launch the main.html
file directly from the file system, it launches in the browser and
works fine.
the thing is, it use to work fine and when i added something
like a background gradient for the app it broke. i know that sounds
silly, but it is what it is. so now, i have to launch it from a
shortcut to the main.html file.
with all of that said, that points to IIS, yes?

UPDATE - if i reboot it works again. i'm pretty sure it's
something in IIS. stopping and restarting the web services doesn't

It got setting error on multiple locales under Flex builder

Hi, i try to build a multiple locales application with Flex Builder.
When I try to configure "Flex compiler":
i enter "-locale en_US,fr_FR -source-path+=/locale/{locale}" for additinal compilere arguments.
Then there are errors:
unable to open 'C:\eclipse\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\3.2.0\frameworks\locale\en_US,fr_FR'
I already to generate fr_FR with "copylocale.sh en_US fr_FR"
May i know what happened?

Flex Builder 3 will not work on Mac

Flex Builder 3 & Mac OSX:
The hard disk on my mac failed, lost everything, including
Flex Builder 2. I installed a new hard disk, and downloaded the
"trial" of Flex Builder 3 (FB 3). The software seemed to install
fine(no errors in the install log).
However, when I run FB 3, the default front page does not
load, and tells me that the flash player as stopped because of a
un-safe operation. I think okay, that is fine, but I do like the
page with the links to the docs, and adobe resources. I try to
build an app, default just dragged a button on the stage, and
complied. However, the page does not compile. I only get the "grey"
page, with no button.
After this I re-installed the flash player (9.0.115), but
still no love. I have re-installed FB 3, but the same results.
I am using Mac OS X (power PC). Can anybody help me. I am a
student at the University of Hawaii, and I am teaching myself Flex.
I am thinking that the error might be with the flash player, and I
am trying to install flash CS3, thinking that if I can get the
stand alone flash player that way, maybe then this will work.

I have the same issues, and safari does not handle any flex
apps, just a blank(grey page). Can I ask a favor? Can you check
this link, a flex charting app. It can view it perfectly in Camino,

I have tried several times to install the trial Flex Builder
2 on Windows Vista. Each time I get an error message referring me

Thank you for your response. Being a newbie to Microsoft
Vista (which I recommend the world to reject) I don't know exactly
how to describe how I got the install of Flex Builder 2 to work.
But, a friend of mine walked me through turning off the Windows
Defender security settings as well as all security settings related
to my user's setting. I believe I disabled two Vista "features",
and then the install worked. The only thing was that the checkboxes
during the install program did not appear, but clicking the
respective questions themselves did the trick (i.e. do you agree to
software license?' and 'install Flash player on IE / Firefox?')
Sorry I can't be more specific... but, for anyone that has
this problem, in the words of my friend, "Turn everything off in
Vista you can, then try it!".

Problem Installing Adobe Flex Builder 3 (Standalone)

I have attempted a few times today to install the Flex Builder 3 standalone file, but I am having issues. I am currently using Adobe CS4 Design Premium on my computer.
I am new to this type of application development. Currently, I mainly used flash to create my interactive applications, but I need to branch out to create more complex applications. As I already know actionscript 3.0, I was interesting into getting into Flex. I do not know Javascript, C++, etc.
Once I download the standalone file to my desktop and run the installer, I do not choose to download Flash Player 9 because I already have nor do I choose do download the Coldfusion or JSEclipse Plug-in as I do not have Eclipse on my computer (it comes with the standalone as I have been led to believe). After running the installer, it almost gets to the end and then I get the following error message:

Can anybody help me on this? Is there something I missing prior to download?

We're in the same boat here - the the behavour of xsd:all in
BETA 3 renders our Flex app virtually useless because of
communication issues with the backend webservice. We have studied
the proposed workaround suggested, unfortunately we only control
the FLEX app - we do not control the WS we have to integrate with.
As a result we've gone back to BETA 2 to do some critical
changes in the software but the "Beta expired." message we've been
receiving is really not well received. As we have been very
proactive in supporting development in the BETA phases including
reporitng bugs, we think that Adobe shoudl also have some
flexibility here and offer ways to extend the BETA 2. We're not
asking for any type of support during that phase - purely the
ability to compile our source until we can implement the full work
around which will allow the software to run on BETA 3. The
suggestion to change dates or go to previous restore points do not
work well here with our numerous developers.

Weird Positioning for Skinned Panel in Flex Builder 3

In the previous versions of the Flex Builder 3, even for the
Flex Builder 3 Beta Milestone 4, my custom skinned Panel component
worked fine. So I have an image skin and then I put into Flex
Builder, set the 9 slice settings, did some adjustments to the
headerHeight. And when I add a child component to the Panel
component, it will automatically be placed beneath the Panel's
title (like a VBox layout), position it inside the panel.
But now, compiling with the same files and css in the new
Flex Builder 3 final release, the Panel does not position the
children components correctly anymore. The children are still
positioned in a VBox layout but the first child started from the
point 0,0 of the Panel. So, the first child is overlapping the
Panel's title and all the children seems to go out of the Panel a
bit. This isn't what it used to be(that's to automatically position
them in the content are of the Panel component or at least within
the 9 slice middle area).
A Panel that isn't skinned at all works fine.
Is there anything I have to change or do to solve this?

Looks like what I am having is something close to that except
that my problem is related to the borderSkin and not the
borderStyle. But I have seen some of the comments talking about the
borderSkin problem too.
What I have done now is I use the Flex 3 public release but
copied the sdk from the previous beta version and compile with that
sdk.
It kind of resolves that panel bug problem(since I am just
using the old version) but I am sure I will be missing out any new
features that the new Flex 3 public release has.
