Builder is required as well as intermediate to advanced knowledge
of actionscript 3.0 .
AS3 is OO so a basic knowledge of OO-programming is
preferable.

I did my certification in SAP SD from Bangalore by month of October 2012, after that
i received only one opportunity to attend interview at Capgemini, I cleared my
interview but unluckily project was canceled and they haven't done any recruitment.
your view is add on Knowledge, still I am maintaining studying, at least every day 7hrs plus, but problem is, job market or industry not have need of certified person, companies prefer to get 3 years real time exp persons more willingly than certified fresher.
I had discussed with few of the HR managers, their reply was, in certification course there is no real time project training, it’s just about overall SAP concept, so we prefer 1 or 2 years exp people.
So my opinion is going for SAP SD certification is useless and money wasting.

How did you get your first Flex developer job???

I know it might not be relevant for this forum, but I am dying to know how you guys get your first flex developer job. I am actually more interested in your resume. What sort of skill did you guys put on your resume? Thanks for the reply....:D

Started as a pure "Java/J2EE" dev. Rebelled and added Flex to my skill set (since JSP is sin on par with 'AJAX frameworks'), started new project using Flex.
In other words one way is to take ownership of a Java (or other) project, and force the bast... er, have your project team use Flex. he he
But this is the long path, of course. To start off in Flex (besides the obvious of looking for it by name) you'd probably focus on UI design skills/experience and competing (but crummy and old) front-end technologies, and then lobby for the Flex SDK on any new projects that come along (assuming it's a good fit). I suspect you'd have a tougher time if you're going into an organization which already has some late-generation RIA tech in use, such as Silverlight or GWT (bleh), but the ones still saying "JSP" or "AJAX" and any other associated legacy HTML-type technologies are soft targets.

I'm Ankur and working as Flex expert from last 3.5 years. I'm also an Adobe Certified in Flex. Invovled in interviewing lots of Flex guys for my company but let me tell you as an interviewer I never ever concentrate much on there degrees I know they are good to have but along with them you have to have technical and practical knowledge. So basically, doesn't matter if you are 2008 pass out or 2011 pass out I'm not sure if there is any major difference amongst two. All you have to know is knowledge of Flex in a good sense so you should be able to clear the interview.
Now, question is how to learn Flex, for that you should start building small small applications by yourself and read a good book. Once you are done to some extent start using livedocs and blog.flexexamples.com for more in depth knowledge.

Essential skills for getting a job in programming

I am working in digital media operations. I want to move to programming. I have checked jobs and one thing i realise is just by mastering java i wont get a job. I need skills in 3 areas for getting a decent job.
Language such as java
Scripting such as HTML, XML etc
and SQL or some server
now what are the essential skills to get a junior to mid level job in programming?

I would definitely read Kevin's article, because it's right on the money. Depending on how far along you are in your career, the 10,000 hours it talks about may be difficult to manage, but you may be able to get some of the way there. You might also want to ask yourself a few questions:
1. Do you like the idea of programming, or do you just think it might get you out of your current rut?
2. Are you willing to put in the graft? A lot of programming is repetitive and boring and, like most jobs, as a junior you'll probably get a lot of the Joe-jobs.
3. Are you willing to put in time outside your 40-hour week - reading and doing? Because that's likely to be where you do a lot of your learning. It may take a while for the effects to be noticed by your colleagues/managers as well.
I'm also a great believer in understanding principles, and that can involve some dry reading. So, once you've mastered the basics, look for good background material (it may also help you follow your colleagues when they're talking techno-babble):
Language such as java - not a bad place to start, but find some material on Object Orientation (the why, not the how) once you've got past "Hello World".
Scripting - a couple you might want to look at are perl and bash.
SQL or some [database] - absolutely, but try and find a book on data management theory too. It's surprising how few programmers know much about it these days.
