Flex obselete with the release of Flash CS3?

Flash cs3 and its new components feature pretty much give the
same functionality as flex's components.
The only reason why i used flex was because of the
components, ive only created a few applications but i cant see why
i couldnt just make them with CS3 now?

You could certainly make that attempt. Our goal is to give
you as much choice as possible. Some people like the Flash IDE,
others like Flex because you can use any text editor, not just Flex
Builder. With Flash CS3, you need the Flash IDE to work with the
FLA files.
When you choose to work with Flex you can put your source
files into a source code control system - you can do that with
FLAs, but you lose change management. In other words, every time
you edit your FLA, it changes so it is always going back into
source code repository. With Flex and MXML and AS files, you save
only those files which have changed.
Flex provides a more traditional way to build SWFs. You can
use Flash to supplement it. You'll find with Flex 3 that the
reverse will be true, too - use Flex to supplement Flash.
Anyway you want to do it, that makes you comfortable and
successful, is the best way to go. We're glad to be able to offer
you choices.

Updates to get flex working with the Vector stuff. Had to add support for the new name type, and new applytype opcode to the Optimizer/Merger that flex uses. Also had to slightly change how the instantiated vector classes find their declared methods. Previously they were copied into the new class, but now they just point to the original vector class.

despite the workaround, it doesn't fix the real problem. It shouldn't be a huge deal for adobe to add support for multiple svn versions. Dreamweaver is the first tool i've used that works with svn that doesn't support several types of svn meta data. If they're going to claim that Dreamweaver supports svn is should actually support svn, the current version, not a version several years old. This should have been among the first patches released, or at least after snow leopard came out (and packaged with it the current version of svn).
does anyone know if the code that handles meta data formatting is something that is human readable, or where it might be, or is it in compiled code.

Used to have ~/Library and Mac HD/Library.

It's still there, just invisible. You can find it by holding down option and clicking the Go menu in the Finder (a Library item will appear that goes to your user Library folder). Or you can run the following command in the Terminal to turn it visible again:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
The Library folder at the root level of your hard drive should still be there and visible.

The site will NOT let me post in the "flash player" forum. When I open the list of forums to post in, I see flash player listed, but it is grey in color and you can not click on it. Under the scroll box that gives you the choices of forums to post your question in you see this:

What are you considering non responsive with the plugins? Flash player is working just fine then I get your crash page in the middle of doing something. You say it only crashes when it's been unresponsive for 45 seconds. Mine is crashing in less then 1

I have had problems with firefox crashing for the last three month. I have updated to the latest version with the crash protection. Now the flash player crashes about every 20 minutes or so. On your blog page you state that I will get the crash page when the plugin has been non-responsive for 45 seconds well with mine the games are going along just fine then wham crash page. Flash player was responding and you gave me crash report anyway. What's up???? Flash player is crashing within seconds not 45 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your check plugin page always states that my plugins are UP TO DATE!!!!!

Facing Problems with the Installation of Dreamweaver CS3

Hello,
I am facing some problem while installing Dreamweaver CS3 ..
tried number of times but to no avail.. every time the same error
message pops up "You can only install one product at a time. Please
complete the other installation before attempting to install Adobe
Dreamweaver CS3"
I am pretty sure I am not installing any other Adobe product
in parallel. I already have Adobe Flash CS3 on my system and its
working pretty fine for me but I am not able to get around with
Dreamweaver. Please let me know what I need to do to run this

Problem with actionscript window in Flash CS3 IDE

The actionscript window doesn't open up for any frames on the
timeline. When I press 'F9' or try to access via context menu the
action window tab appears at the top in minimized form. No matter
how many times I click on it or on the maximize button the window
doesn't open up. I tried reinstalling Flash CS3 but it didn't help.
Any help with this issue is appreciated.

Found a solution for this atlast ! Delete the Users/AppData
folder for flash CS3 and things will be back to normal. It seems
the Flash IDE screws somewhere while saving the local users
settings. Clearing these settings restored my action window

file - publish setting - html , change publish size to 100%
rather than fixed pixel size.
Then it will follow your available space in html document.

How to connect my app interface with the code in flash builder?

I'm a beginner and learning my way around actionscript,mxml and flash builder.So this may seem foolish but please bear with me,I'm creating a very simple ios app using flash builder,I have created a simple app interface (A background and a custom navigation bar)using photoshop for my app,now the question is how do i import it into flash builder so that i can connect it with the code i have written? or is there another simpler way to create a app interface using other products like fireworks or catalyst?
In short, I want to know how is an app interface created(wt software) and how is it connected with its code using flash builder.Any help would be greatly appreciated, and tutorials would be swell

Can you use stage.width or stage.stageWidth?

My 16 GB iPhone 5 is stuck on a black screen. A white screen with the apple logo flashes occasionally. iTunes won't recognize the phone, and hard reboot failed. Can anyone help?

I just bought a gently used 16 GB iPhone 5. I set the phone up earlier today with no issues at all, installing backup data from my iPhone 4, syncing the new phone to my iCould, setting up my new SIM card, etc.
The phone was working fine (I was able to send and receive texts, use WiFi, manage apps, etc.) for the first hour or so. Then, without warning, it shut down. The screen is solid black, but every now and then it flashes white with the black apple logo.
I tried multiple hard reboots — all failed.
iTunes (on my MacBook Air, running Yosemite) is now unable to recognize the device, although it recognized it without issue earlier today.
I live overseas, so going to an Apple store is a bit inconvenient. If I can trouble shoot this at home (and in English), it would be really helpful.

DO NOT STICK A PAPER CLIP IN THE HOLE!
There are two holes. One is a small one that has a microphone behind it. A paper clip would probably ruin the microphone. The other is a 1/8 inch hole where you plug in a headset. A paper clip might short-circuit something.
First connect the iPad to its wall charger for at least half an hour to be sure it has enough juice to get started.
Then if the iPad does not wake up when either the Home or Sleep button is pressed, press and hold the Sleep button for several seconds and see if the Apple logo appears. If it does, then your iPad has been turned off instead of merely being put to sleep.
Beyond that, look for an iPad repair center. The Apple Authorized Repair Centers may be more expensive. If you want to try them, look at <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>. There may be one in your city.

This is a problem in every Ios update. It happened in Ios4 update and was eventually fixed. Seems apple forget to get this right on the first release, and I expect the same fix, like the last 3, to roll out in a bit. Be nice if they could get it right on the first release.
I am really hating the new "Music" layout and it is really awful with lots of toggles being almost identical colors (shuffle, repeat, etc.). Miss the list of songs on opening the Music folder. Now it is all graphics and is much more cumbersome to find your way around. Apple ruined a perfectly good program with the new Music update on teh ios release. Oh well.

Can I wirelessly use a 430 EX II as a slave with the built in flash of the EOS T3i?

I have a Rebel EOS T3i. According to its manual, pp 191 ff, I can fire a remote speedlite wirelessly from the camera. I get an error message that the speedlite can't be found even though I have set up my speedlite 430 EX II according to its manual directions, pp25 ff. Thanks for your help

Yes - the 430EX II will function as a slave and the T3i (but not the T2i or earlier) can remotely trigger the speedlite.
It's a bit tricky and can be confusing.
First... set the 430EX II in the right mode. Press-and-HOLD the "Zoom" button for about 2 seconds or so. This activates a menu that lets you put the flash in either a single-fash mode vs. remote "slave" mode. Use half-circle buttons to toggle it to read "slave". Press the "set" button (in the middle of those half-circle shape buttons.) I don't happen to have my 430EX II handy, but it should default to Slave "A" and Channel "1".
Now for the camera.
On your camera menu, the left-most tab (which we'll call "Red Camera #1" to distinguish it from other tabs) has the "Flash Control" as the last option on that screen. Incidentally for cameras with a built-in popup flash, the menu is labeled "Flash Control". For cameras that do NOT have built-in pop-up flash, that same menu is called "External speedlite control".
On that sub-menu (Flash Control), make sure "Flash Firing" (the top option) is set to "Enable" or "CustWireless" -- it must NOT be set to "disable" or nothing will work.
You will see a menu options for "External Flash func. setting" (and also "External flash C.Fn setting".) IGNORE THESE! These are ONLY for flashes which are in the camera hot-shoe and do NOT control wireless remote flashes. This is likely where you were getting confused.
Next go to "Built-in flash func. settings" where, ironically, you get to control how your camera communicates with your REMOTE flash (yes, I realize that's not the most intuitive place to put it.) It turns out that it's your INTERNAL flash that is responsible for communicate with any REMOTE slave flashes. The optical wireless actually uses visible light (a lot of people presume it's an infrared communication -- myself included -- I ultimately learned that was incorrect and it is actually the visible light of the flash itself. It sends out communication to the remote by rapidly pulsing codes to tell the remote flash what to do. All this happens before the image is exposed and you'd swear the flash only blinked once... but it turns out it's actually quite busy pulsing away to communicate.)
In the "Built-in flash func. settings" menu there are a number of things you need to set.
If you set the Built-in flash mode to "EasyWireless" it will gray out many other settings... basically the camera will automatically decide what it wants to do. I think the only setting not gray is the channel number (which needs to match the channel number on your flash. The purpose of channel numbers is to allow you to shoot at events where other photographers are also using wireless flash and not have conflicts where they're triggering your flashes and vice versa.
If you set the Built-in flash mode to "CustWireless" it allows you to set many other options. CustWireless offers the most control. It is ultimately probably the mode you'll use the most once you get used to remote speedlites.
In CustWireless mode, the "Wireless Func." menu option becomes available. This option lets you decide if you want (I'm taking these out of order for simplicity of explaining):
a) both internal and external speedlites to fire as one group (external flash icon, a PLUS sign (+) and the on-camera icon)
b) both internal and external speedlites to fire but allowing you to control the power RATIO (external flash icon, a COLON symbol ( and the on-camera icon means "ratios" can be customized.)
c) only external speedlites (only the external flash icon is on that option - no on-camera icon.)
I want to mention something about that external-only option because it confuses most people at first. The camera communicates with the slave via the on-camera flash. The on-camera flash pulses rapidly to send instructions to the remote flash units. This means that in order to use slave-flashes, the on-camera flash must be raised (in the popped-up position). If you ask for external flash only (no on-camera) the on-camera flash will only pulse instructions BEFORE the camera shutter opens to take the exposure. When I first started learning about external speedlites, I saw the on-camera flash fire and thought my settings were being ignored. Not to worry... when you check your images you will see that there was no light provided by the on-camera flash DURING the exposure... all that flashing happens before the shutter opens. Everything happens so fast that you'd swear all the flashes only fired once... but in reality they actually do a lot of "talking" before taking the picture but this happens incredibly fast.
And one last comment... since the camera communicates via the optical (visible light) flash to talk to the remotes, it is important the the lower-body of your 430EX II can "see" the flash on the camera. In small rooms it doesn't really matter where the lower-body is pointed... it'll notice the pulses of light from the on-camera flash. But in large rooms or outdoors the lower-body of your 430EX II (where the receiver is located) wont get any reflection from walls, etc. In these situations, just rotate the lower body of the 430EX II so that it is facing the on-camera flash. You can then swivel the head of the 430EX II to point wherever you need it. The 430EX II will fire even in full daylight as long as it can "see" that on-camera flash.

With the release of iCloud can we now merge different .mac apple ids into one?

This question has been asked before and the answer, I believe, was NO -- you can't merge multiple .mac or mobileme accounts into ONE.
The problem is I have two .mac accounts and I want one (the one that reflects my name, ie) so I can streamline my apple id and account history.
Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed with the new iCloud Service?
If not, that's SAD, really really SAD. Being a programmer myself, I can't understand why this should be such a big issue unless they screwed up their data model for 'Account'.

Why did you setup more then one AppleID?
Your @me.com account should've been the one and only account you needed. There was absolutely no need to create another AppleID for iCloud. You should've just used the me.com for iCloud.
Your email account (if different to your @me.com email) is nothing to do with Apple.

I can't edit a Line with the Properties panel - Flash CS4

I have created a line on the stage with the Line tool, and then want to edit the Stroke and Style in the Properties panel. However, after creating the line these options are greyed out and not available to me. Even if I then select the Line with the Selection tool, I cannot edit the Stroke or the Style. It seems to me I should be able to do this, what am I missing?

Normally after drawing the line you only need to click once on it to select it, and with it selected you should be able to access its settings in the properties panel.
