Flex printing broken by Flash 10.1.53.64 upgrade

We have a large base of flex applications whose printing is now broken on any machine which upgrades to the 10.1.53.64 Flash upgrade. The pages print with white vertical and horizontal bars running through them. Have definitely verified that this is related to the Flash upgrade. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

For anyone interested, we discovered that the problem Flash 10.1.53.64 introduced was related to a mask used on the print page. By removing the mask and using a different technique we were able to work around the problem. Definitely a potential problem for anyone using a mask on a print page though.

Pdf prints broken characters

I have a MacBookPro software Mountain Lion 10.8.3, Acrobat vs 10.1.7. Multiple-page pdf displays fine, prints broken characters??? Can I upgrade to Acrobat 11 to rectify problem? How?

Not all pdfs, just this particular 48-page document. I am using an HP
Officejet 6500A+ which has not had problems of this type in the past. The
driver version is 4.1.1. Some of the characters aren¹t really broken BUT ARE
MISSING when I try to print the pdf. (See copy attached with areas circled
that are missing.) I ran a print quality diagnostic report and nothing was
out of the ordinary, nor were any characters missing. (See second
attachment.)
I¹m hoping you can help me find a solution. I really need to print this
document.

Printing problems with Flash Players 10.1 and 10.2

I'm having problems when printing "lengthy" reports under Flash Players 10.1 and 10.2. (By "lengthy" I mean 15+ pages, but it seems dependent on the content of the pages.)
Symptoms: On OS X with Safari (with debug Player 10.2) I get timeout errors. On Windows with IE (regular Flash Player 10.2), the system crawls to almost a halt, heavy CPU and memory usage. With Firefox on Windows, the Flash Player will crash. A user with Player 10.1 on Windows also reports The Flash Player crashing in Firefox (he has 8GB of RAM).
The reports print fine under Flash Player 10.0
There was an earlier post here about what seems like the same issue. (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3486765)
There is a bug report (https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-6087), but so far no response from Adobe.
I'm surprised about how few reports there are about the issue, which makes me think it may be my code. (But it worked under 10.0.)
I'd be interested to know if others are experiencing the problem.
Better still, if anyone has any tips on how to resolve the issue.

This is rediculous. I have an application in use by thousands of students, and their teachers are supposted to be able to print login sheets for their classroom. This was functioning fine for years, and now with the latest player upgrades, it's failing to print or printing only a few of the total pages. I'm even seeing it print one additional page each time... first successfully printing 3 pages, then 4, then 5, when printing with adobe acrobat to PDF. What happened? What is this talk of timeouts when printing? I'm not getting any error messages, it's just completing the file and displaying the PDF with only 4 of the 15 or 20 pages that Flash should have sent to the printer.

The approach you take might depend on a few things, but it boils down to using mouse interactive coding to trigger whatever effect you eventually realize. The code you use will depend on the version of Actionscript you plan to use.
You could make this as a movieclip that is normally stopped at its first frame and when you mouseover or click the movieclip, it animates along its own timeline to its enlarged state. If the thumbnail is very small and the larger version is substantially larger, and both need to be clear images, this might be the better approach.
If this only involves enlarging something, you could also probably realize it just using Actionscript Tween coding rather than timeline animation.

Chart Flash Chart error: ORA-20001: Print Chart Data: Flash Chart error: OR

Hi,
if the query where my resource gantt chart is based on returns more the 107 rows, i will get the following error:
chart Flash Chart error: ORA-20001: Print Chart Data: Flash Chart error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
If i reduce the number of results, the chart is working fine.
Max rows attribute of the series is adjusted to 4000
Any idea?

How to embed Flex swf into existing Flash?

Hello,
I am brand new to Flex, so I desperately need your help!
I have an existing Flash file, written in Flash 8. When I
open this file, it plays in Flash Player 9, the latest player I
have installed on my machine.
This Flash file tries to dynamically load about.swf, a stub
file created by the designer. It works.
I am a programmer, so I want to create my own about.swf in
Flex 2 and then substitue the existing about.swf written in Flash
with my about.swf written in Flex. The problem is that the existing
Flash file just displays a blank when I try loading about.swf
written in Flex.
Is there any way to load SWF file written in Flex 2 into an
Flash file written in Flash 8?

I think no.
Flash 8 uses Actionscript 2.0, but Flex 2.0 uses AS3. I think
these will be incompatible, as they use different VMs.
If the two swf's exist individually, in their res[pective VM,
you can communicate between them using LocalConnection.

Flex Builder 3 vs Flash Builder 4

Is there much difference between Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4? Just that I got them both through the student online form but since FB4 is newer, should I still keep Flex in my laptop?

I found FB3 rock solid and I loved only having one name space.
FB4 is quirky to say the least.
Only reason I don't switch back to FB3 is because FB4 changed the way states are done, and that alone has saved countless hours. I love the way STATES are being handled in FB4!

Flex Component Kit for Flash CS4

Is there a Flex Component Kit for Flash CS4? All I have found
is a download for Flash CS3.

There isn't. But the CS3 kit works for CS4 too.

Is the Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional still available for download somewhere?
We are currently trying to get some old stuff done in Flash to port over to flex and convert a MovieClip made in Flash to an SWC/Flex component.
The link stated here at the bottom Flex Component Kit for Flash Professional (Adobe - Flex Downloads) does not work.

HP 3930 Printer problem Powerlight flashes unit won't print no error message

Following the deletion of a duplicate print issue the printer refused to print.
power light flashes. no error messages.
Tried erasing program and re-installing disc/program
Tried new usb cord
Go into programs ,click on printers and faxes and the icon for the printer says Printer off line.
I'm out of ideas.

Flex swf loaded in Flash swf

Hi,
I have a Flex swf loaded into a Flash swf.
I have made the Flex swf transparent, so that the buttons in the Flash swf are visible.
But im unable to interact with the Flash swf buttons.
My Flex swf is working happyily
The Flex swf overlays the Flash swf.
If i change the scrollRect of the Flex swf so the Flex swf is not overlaying the Flash swf i can successfully interact with the Flash swf buttons.
Any ideas?

I actually found an old post on a forum where you recommended a similar solution (mousesheld.visible = false).
This seems to work although it messes with dragging (my Popups at least).
But i can work with that for now, thanks for your help.

Officejet 8500 A909g unable to print, broken pipe

I have an officejet 8500, A909g connected wirelessly to a Mac desktop computer. Suddenly, my printer has stopped printing, and says: "unable to print, broken pipe." What does this mean? What can I do? There is no paper jam and the cartridges are fine.

Flex 2 advantage over Flash

Hi,
Can I ask for examples of stuff that can be done in Flex 2
that can't be done in Flash?
Or if there are none, what about things that are a lot easier
to do in Flex 2 rather than Flash?
(If it helps, I'm evaluating the use of Flex and I've seen
the MXML and ActionScript sample codes and pretty much understand
most of it. But I don't know squat about using the Flash authoring
tool.)

All Flex components can not be used directly in Flash (maybe
now in CS3? Haven't tested it yet), that is a big point. Flex
enables us to build advanced architectures with object oriented
programmation, this is needed for complex applications (different
external calls, Java Backend...). You can also use a MVC framework
with Flex such as PureMVC or Cairngorm.
The databinding in MXML is a great feature and designing
views with lots of data is quite easy (from different sources, with
different formats etc...).
Of course you can do a lot of things with Flash and AS3 but
for designing big apps (I mean : not only animations with a few
scripts), Flex is way better (and open source).
